When he refused, and said he was fine with what he was already wearing, then told him they just wanted him to come to the mall at Empire City and scout out cute girls with them.

So he went with them, although it wasn't to scout out cute girls. He wanted to get Cat Steven a new toy.

The mall was ginormous. Four stories, and these super cool glass elevators that were in the middle of the mall, so you could see the ground while you were moving. There were two, and they were a good ten feet apart.

"Can we please stop by the food court?" Steven whined. They had been walking around for about 45 minutes, and he was starving.

"Fine." Daniel laughed, and turned towards the food court.

When they got their food and sat down, Sour Cream leaned forward. "So, anyone see any cute girls yet?"

"They are all middle aged women and their children." Buck noted. "Buck is not pleased."

Daniel sent Buck a confused look. "What about them? They seem our age." He pointed to the group of five sitting on the other side of the food court. They were all laughing, eating fries.

"Jackpot." Sour Cream muttered.

'This is creepy.' Steven thought.

He just wanted a cat toy, he didn't want to stalk some random girls.

Suddenly, the African American girl glanced up, and her eyes met with Stevens. They bulged out of her head, and she grabbed onto the girl next to her, shaking her arm and pointing at Steven frantically.

The girl she grabbed was pretty- no, she was beautiful. Long brown hair, a fuzzy jacket hanging off her shoulders comfortably. She looked in Stevens direction briefly, then looked back down at her food.

"What was that about?" Daniel asked. The African American girl picked up her purse and started slapping the girls arm with it, until the girl grabbed the purse and threw it a few feet away. The others at the table started laughing, and the girl looked at Steven again. She gave him a quick two fingered salute, before her chair was pulled out from under her. A girl with a ponytail held her chair laughing, and the girl stood up. The girl reached across the table, picking up a phone -presumably the girl was the ponytails- and walking to a trashcan. They held eye contact as she dropped it in.

Steven looked away then. "Wow."

"We should get their numbers." Sour Cream laughed. Buck nodded along.

"No, that's weird. Just leave them be." Steven said quietly.

"Really? What about the girl with the fuzzy jacket? She's really pretty." Daniel said.

"Yeah, I guess." Steven glanced back up, but the group was gone.

Lola and her friends fought like that a lot, it wasn't anything unusual. But with a group of guys staring at them, it was a little embarrassing.

Bella and Jane had their arms linked with her. "So what did you think, he was cute right?" Bella asked Lola.

"I guess." That was all she said.

But, she did indeed think he was cute. Really cute in fact. Although, she would never say that out loud.

"Come on, let's go back down to the first floor, I'm bored and I wanna go home." Allison yelled. Everyone agreed, and piled into one of the glass elevators. Lola leaned against the side, tired from walking -well, being dragged around- all day.

She just happened to look to the other elevator, which was also moving down. And she saw him. He was leaning against the wall, perfectly across from her.

He looked way taller than her. He had a black shirt on, with a yellow star in the center. His pink letterman jacket covered it though, and his hands were jammed into the pockets. His hair was brown and curly, and he was wearing jeans and sandals. He had to be from somewhere else, no one in Empire City dressed like that.

There was something about him, Lola couldn't look away. One of his friends said something funny, and he leaned his head back to laugh. She could almost hear his laugh in her head. Butterflies erupted in her stomach, and she couldn't hear her friends conversation anymore.

Suddenly, the boy looked in her direction. It was just a glance at first, but he must've recognized her because a small smile appeared on his face. Lola looked away quickly, blushing furiously. Charlie sent her a confused look, then looked behind her and nodded in understanding. Thank White Diamond for her, she didn't say anything like the rest of them would've.

A few seconds later, Lola couldn't help but steal a glance in the boys direction. He did the same, and he smiled even wider at her, flashing his pearly white teeth. He sent Lola a two fingered salute, almost in a mocking way, and she awkwardly waved back.

The elevator hit the ground then, and Lolas friends rushed out. Lola followed after them, her legs feeling a little like jelly.

"Hurry up Lola!" Jane yelled. Lola started to pick up her pace before she lost them in the crowd, but a hand grabbed her arm, pulling her back. Before she could turn to look and see who it was, a paper was shoved into her hand, and she was spun around, probably to disorient her. She turned around quickly, confused. She saw the cute boy running back towards his group of friends. He turned around last minute, sending her a wink and a playful smirk.

"What the-" Lola looked down at her hand, and the paper sitting in it. Small writing stood in the center.

A phone number.
