"No. The windows were covered thickly with dust. I couldn't see a thing." The Frenchman sighed.
"Polnareff, I would be careful if I were you. I don't have a good feeling about this," I warned him.
"Did your Stand pick something up, Y/N?" Joseph asked with a raised eyebrow as he glanced over his shoulder at me.
"Yeah. She's sensed the energy of a Stand." I nodded and added, "Be on your guard." The four men nodded in agreement and kept their eyes on the car in front.
An arm stuck itself out the driver's window of the car, signaling for us to pass.
"Now he wants me to pass?" Polnareff exclaimed. "Looks like the fool's realized how shitty that piece of junk is. You should've stayed behind me in the first place, dumbass." He chuckled as he started to speed up and overtake the car once more.
"Scar, see if you can pick up anything else as we go past, his window's open," I ordered my Stand as we got in line with the sports car.
Before we could have a proper look at the driver, Polnareff gasped and Jotaro's grip around me tightened even more as he pulled me close to his chest. I whipped my head round and my eyes widened as soon as I saw a truck heading straight towards us. "Shit!" I panicked as I ducked away and dug my face into Jotaro's chest.
"Star Platinum!" Jotaro shouted as we collided with the truck. The collision only felt like a slight tap. Not even seconds later, our car spun into the air and landed on the side of the road with a loud thud.
My hands reached for Jotaro's jacket and held onto him until my knuckles turned white. I looked up at the delinquent as I tried to steady my breathing.
"Are you okay?" He asked as he swallowed gulps of air. I nodded slowly in response.
"That was close! If it weren't for Star Platinum's power, we'd have been crushed beneath that truck like a tinned can!" Polnareff exclaimed, his eyes wide.
"He's gone! Where'd that bastard car go?" Joseph growled as he looked up and down the road for any signs of the red sports car.
"Looks like it just kept going. I think the driver could have been one of the Stand users," Jotaro muttered.
"We did have a hunch that we could have been facing a Stand user," I pointed out as Scarlet Phantom materialized next to me. "Scar, were you able to pick up anything before the crash?" I asked her as I glanced over at her.
"When we drove past him, I was able to pick up a Stand user inside the car." She nodded.
"Of course he's one of DIO's lackeys! We were almost roadkill for God's sake!" Polnareff hissed through clenched teeth.
"But why didn't he simply attack us with his Stand when he had the chance?" Nori asked.
"Scarlet Phantom did mention that the energy she was picking up from that car was similar to the freighter's energy. It's likely that the car is the user's Stand," I theorized. All eyes landed on me.
"That may be the case, but we don't know where he drove off to, and we need to get to Pakistan, so we'll just have to keep our guards up," Joseph suggested. Polnareff nodded and turned the key in the ignition, letting out a sigh of relief as the engine roared to life. "If someone comes after us again, we'll make them eat our dust," Joseph growled.
"Damn straight," the Frenchman agreed.
"What should we do about that truck? Star Platinum left it a wreck, so it won't be going anywhere." Nori pointed a thumb over to the truck as smoke rose from its bonnet.
