Lola hid her phone under her leg out of instinct. "No! He's at work right now, he won't pick up."
Lie. He gets off of work at 4 o'clock, and it was 7:45.
"Try anyways!" Jane yelled.
Lola rolled her eyes, knowing she would prove them wrong, and Steven would probably be really embarrassed when he found out.
She clicked on his contact -the most recently called one, might I add- and put it on speaker.
Charlie shushed her giggling friends. "Be quiet! He's gonna know!" She whispered.
Steven, or Stevie, picked up on the second ring. "Hey Angel." You could practically hear the smile in his voice. "I thought you were at your friends?" Lola could hear something moving in the background.
"I am, they're in the living room." Her friends stifled laughs. "Are you making dinner?"
"Yeah, I liked your post on Instagram." He added. "I told you that you would look better in purple than black, didn't I?" He said smugly.
Lola rolled her eyes. "You did. I don't like that dress though, it makes me feel exposed."
"Is that a bad thing?" She could hear his smirk, and her face turned bright red.
"Steven! Oh my stars."
He laughed. "I'm just joking, your easy to tease." There was the sound of a pot clanging. "Ow." He muttered.
"You okay?" Lola asked with no sympathy.
"Yeah, I hurt myself when I fell for you."
Lola friends eyes widened, but Lola just nodded. "Pickup line number one." She muted herself quickly. "He's just warming up." She said to her friends. They all shared confused looks.
The line was silent. "Really? Nothing? Fine." Steven sighed. "Did your clothes come in the mail yet?"
"No, they should be here on Wednesday." Lola said sadly. She was excited to get them and try them on.
"You'll send me pictures when you get them, right?" A smirk made its way onto Stevens face again. "With, or without the clothes."
"Steven!" Lola yelled. She muted herself while her friends howled with laughter.
Pickup line number two.
Steven chuckled. "You know I'm kidding, don't do that."
Lola fake sighed. "Are you saying I'm ugly then?"
"Nope, your beautiful. But if I see you naked it's not gonna be over the phone."
Number three.
Her friends screamed behind the muted mic, and Lola shushed them. "I've gotta go Stevie, I'll text you good night."
"Wait! Can I tell you a secret?" He lowered his voice, and despite her friends protests she took him off speaker.
"What's up?"
"Nothing, just didn't want your friends to hear me say goodbye." He shrugged behind the screen.
"Wait-"
"You forgot to mute yourself like, three times." Steven pointed out. "I usually don't say three pick up lines. It's usually more like seven or eight. But I don't want to embarrass you."
"Oh..." Lola said quietly.
"Anyways, talk to you later Angel!"
Lola blinked. "Bye Stevie."
She put her phone down, and her friends all looked at each other. "I guess we underestimated your boyfriend."
"He's not my boyfriend." Lola protested.
Charlie rolled her eyes. "Yeah right. You two act like a couple, whether you admit it or not."
Lola furrowed her brows in confusion. "I guess... I guess we kinda do."
