"It'll be okay. It'll be okay." I softly whisper.
Schlatt finally comes over, looking at the damage.
"Let's get you two runaways home." He says. The word runaways stings a bit. Running is for the weak, and I have to be strong. Still, the name fits and that's why it hurts.
"I'll carry your brother." He says, kneeling down. He can see the strain in my face but I shake my head.
"I've got him." I say. "Get our stuff, I'll point you too it."
Once we get close, I point him to where I stashed the bag. He retrieves it, rolling it along the side wall with us until we finally reach Phil's house.
"You're going to be okay, kid." Schlatt says, before knocking on the door.
It takes a few knocks and doorbell rings for someone to answer, but Wilbur comes to the door.
"Oh, Schlatt." He says before noticing us. Then his eyes widen.
"Tommy? Tubbo!?" He says. He's panicking.
He lets us in, and rushes us to the couch, waking up Dream, George, Sapnap, and Bad.
They all try to judge the severity of the situation. Tubbo tries to communicate, but wails of pain are all that comes out.
"I'm getting Techno." Wilbur says, rushing upstairs.
"What happened, Tommy? Schlatt?" Dream asks.
"He fell from a tree." I mumble.
"I'm more concerned with why you were outside in the first place, with Schlatt of all people?" George asks.
"We... uh... Let's just focus on Tubbo." I mumble.
"I'm guessing the two shits ran away, and lucky for you, I caught them." Schlatt says.
"Language!" Bad yells.
Wilbur comes downstairs, and Techno jumps off the railing, slamming into the floor with his feet.
"Hospital, now." He says, grabbing keys from a side table.
SapNap nods, picking up Tubbo.
"Put him down!" I yell.
"Tommy..." Bad says, disapprovingly.
"I can carry him!" I yell.
"If you could carry him, why did he fall?!" Wilbur yells.
The room goes silent. Even Techno seems stunned.
Those simple words Wilbur uttered shoot through me like a bullet to my skull.
"I-I shouldn't have let him, w-we shouldn't have run. I shouldn't have told h-him t-to cl-climb. I-I-I... I failed him." I stutter, tears coming from my eyes. This is my fault.
"Oh god Tommy I'm sorry." Wilbur says. "Let's go."
I nod, silently walking to the driveway, into Phil's minivan.
SapNap lays Tubbo in the backseat, him taking up the entire row. Techno gets in the drivers seat, and SapNap in the passengers seat. I take a seat in the middle row, looking back at Tubbo without my seatbelt, and Wilbur sits next to me, bouncing his leg.
We drive in silence, except the moans of pain coming from Tubbo. How did this even happen? He fell from a tree. We climbed them so many times before...
I never take my eyes off of Tubbo, wincing every time my eyes graze his wound.
We arrive at the hospital, the air solemn. Techno carries Tubbo this time, which is more relieving.
Luckily, the hospital doesn't seem crowded, so a nurse or an intern comes to help us.
The place Tubbo in a room at the hospital. Everyone starts to pile in, but stop.
"J-j-just Tommy." Tubbo says, sounding like he's holding back a scream.
The rest of the group back out, and close the door.
"Okay. We're going to need to have one of your parents present, kiddo, before we do anything more than patch it up." The nurse says.
"Our parents are dead." I say.
"Oh, I'm sorry. Who were those people, then?" She asks, applying something to Tubbo's knee.
"some of our adopted family." I say in lowercase.
"Were any of them your legal parents?" She asks.
I shake my head.
"Okay, go ask one of them to call your adopted parents." She says. I nod, gulping.
Phil will be so mad.
I slowly walk outside, everyone standing and talking by the door.
"S-she needs you to get Phil." I mumble.
Wilbur nods, pulling out his phone.
Phil is going to be so mad. He's going to give us up.
