Everythings going according to plan

Start from the beginning

The cold continued throughout the Tower and remained for days. Robin kept turning up the thermostat but nothing was better. He shrugged it off as the chill just sticking with him from their mission. Plus Starfire was always there to warm him up so it wasn't that bad. In fact, it was almost unusual how often she was there to warm him up. He would've thought she'd get sick of following him around all the time. He didn't even do anything interesting. He was just writing reports and researching cases they could investigate. It was a slow news week too so there wasn't anything that would pique her interest. She seemed really happy to let him hang off her like a koala to a tree. It was almost suspicious how happy she was. Whenever he mentioned the cold she would say "Huh weird," and then change the subject which only made her more suspicious. It was even more suspicious when he was looking through the camera footage for the Tower and noticed the boiler had been punched. "Star," he began.

"Yes?"

"Have you been near the boiler at all?" he asked. She tensed and glanced away, shaking her head. "You haven't been there?"

"I have never seen it," she lied.

"So you have no idea why it's broken?" he asked.

"Yes?"

"You answered with a question." He moved away so they were no longer touching and watched her chew her bottom lip anxiously. He knew she was behind it but that wasn't important. The important issue here was why. What compelled her to break the boiler and then not tell anyone for days? They could've fixed it by now and it wasn't like she'd never broken anything before. She wouldn't even be the first to mess up the boiler though - Beast Boy had beat her to it -granted she would've been the most obvious. "Star, I know this wasn't an accident. You don't accidentally punch a boiler." She shrunk back and set her eyes firmly on the ground. "I need to know."

"But it will make you angry," she responded. "You were so happy this way."

"This way?"

"I know you must keep up appearances but you keep it up even in private. When I saw how the cold affected you, I could not go back to how things were. I thought if you were cold all the time then you would be more affectionate." She fiddled with her skirt as she spoke and couldn't look her boyfriend in the eye. It didn't help her nerves that he was silent during this time. She knew he hadn't left the room so he had to be standing there staring at her.

The silence persisted and was unbearable but Starfire just couldn't look up to see what type of reaction Robin was having to her admission. She didn't think about him finding out which was stupid because of course he would find out he was Robin! He was a detective! He was smart and wonderful and oh what had she done? "Star, I'm not happy about this but..."

"But?" she asked, letting herself hope.

"But that's kinda cute." She snapped her head up to look at him with a confused expression. Out of all the English she knew, she didn't think cute would be a word he'd use to describe this situation. He ran his hand through his hair, clearly not overjoyed to find out she'd done what she had, but he wasn't as furious as she had expected. He sighed and folded his arms. "Dick move nonetheless. You could've actually told me the issue rather than break a perfectly good boiler. It's nice you care about me so much but I'd like to have a say in things."

"I know. I regret going about it this way," she replied.

"As you should. You're gonna have to make up for this. I've gotten half the work I'm supposed to get done and I've hardly worked out."

"You trained for three hours," Starfire pointed out.

"That's half my regular time." She tutted at him but didn't push any further. She really wasn't in the place to say anything like that. "You can start by showing Cy the damage you did. I need that boiler fixed by the end of the week or my whole month is off." She nodded and got up, floating toward the door before he caught her by the wrist. "I mean this seriously Starfire, don't do this again. Brings up bad memories." They knew exactly what memories those were. Batman trying to take a title that away when he never owned the title in the first place. He thought he was doing what was best. Someone deciding what was best for him without actually consulting him was a concept that left a sour taste in his mouth.

"You have my word this won't happen again. May I?" she asked. He smiled with a nod, receiving a small kiss on his forehead from the alien.

"Have fun explaining this to Cy," he mumbled.

"I will not have fun why would I?" she deadpanned.

"Star I meant- you know what forget it."
