Chapter thirty four: am I the problem?

Start from the beginning

He shook his head "You're not stupid."

Ophelia laughed "Pretty sure you thought I was last year."

Draco rolled his eyes at her "Well that's because I was trying to make fun of you," he leaned his elbows on the table "I didn't actually think you were stupid, I just wanted a reason to talk to you." he said casually.

She looked down at her hands and bit the inside of her cheek "Oh." she mumbled then shook her head "How's your Mother doing?" She said trying to change the subject, she knew that Draco and his mum were close.

Though Woodlock immediately regretted asking as she watched Malfoy tense up "Fine." he said while clenching his jaw.

"Um that's good." she bit her lip as she watched him fidgeted around with his slytherin ring. "How are you doing?"

He sucked his teeth "Alright." he lied.

"Draco," she sighed out "I'm starting to get really worried about you."

He rolled his eyes "Ophelia stop it."

"Stop what?" she asked, knowing where this was going.

"Stop being so paranoid," he sighed "I told you I'm okay, so drop it."

She nodded "Sorry." her smile was sad "I'll stop." she looked away from him and frowned. She shifted uncomfortably in her seat 'He's right, I'm just paranoid.' she thought, 'But he could be less of an ass about it.'

"Did you hear what happened?!" Ophelia said as she ran up next to Malfoy in the hallway, which was relatively empty, besides a few randoms. She struggled to keep up with Draco's long strides.

"What?" He asked, not looking at her.

"Katie Bell got hexed, poor girl almost died." Ophelia said with a frown. She didn't personally know her, but they had talked a few times throughout the years, she seemed nice.

Draco just hummed in response.

"Where are you going?" She questioned as he began to walk up the staircase, which was leading the 7th floor.

He glanced at her "Nowhere important, in fact you should probably go back to your dorm."

"Oh," she stopped walking. She watched as he continued making his way up the stairs. She clenched her jaw and gulped "Draco wait." She called out, making him stop in his tracks.

"What?" he snapped as he looked at her. She sighed, he didn't look well, like he hadn't slept in days.

She took a step forward. She knotted her eyebrows, not sure if she should say anything.

"Well spit it out,"

She shook her head "Why do you always run off?"

"I'm not running off," he said impatiently "You came up to me while I was going somewhere, there's a difference."

"No," she took another step forward on the staircase "I'm not talking about that," she said "I'm talking about the countless of times, where we'll be hanging out and you randomly leave," she huffed "Or the fact that you rarely show up to classes anymore," She ran her hand through her hair "And you keep on lying to me,"

"Ophelia I don't have time for this," he muttered while turning around, finally reaching the corridor leading to the room of requirement, luckily the hallway -more like the floor in general- was empty, well besides Ophelia and Draco.
