I recalled the events that happened in Cairo and frowned as soon as I reached a certain point. Though I may have killed DIO, there was one person I wasn't able to save. And that person was Jotaro's grandfather. Joseph Joestar.
"But I wasn't badass enough to save one person..." I sighed.
"Who?" The teens asked in unison.
Before I could tell them who, the door to my hospital room opened and my eyes widened as soon as a familiar face walked in and asked, "Has the doctor come by yet?"
"Mr. Joestar!" I cried. "You're alive!"
"I could say the same about you." Joseph chuckled as he made his way over to my hospital bed. Nori and Jotaro helped me sit up in bed and once I was settled, Joseph leaned over the edge of the bed and gave me a hug. "How're feeling?" He asked and pulled away from the hug.
"Sore, but surprised if anything. How are you alive? I saw DIO drain your blood from your body."
"It was all thanks to Jotaro. It was him who suggested using what was left of the blood in DIO's body, and he used Star Platinum to start my heart up to be able to pump the blood around my body," Joseph explained with a grin.
"See, you're not the only one that can reverse death." Jotaro smirked.
"Just like how I wasn't the only one that could walk through frozen time?" I returned the smirk.
"That too." He chuckled softly.
"Well, I'm a bringer of good news. The doctor said that when he comes to check Y/N and if everything is fine, she can be discharged, but only on one condition, and that's to get plenty of bed rest when you get home. Plus, we wouldn't want you missing out on the final part of the journey," Joseph said with a smile.
"The final part?" I raised an eyebrow.
"We're going to make sure DIO is gone once and for all."
A few hours later, I was discharged from the hospital. The doctor was happy with how I was recovering and knew I would be well looked after.
Before we could put an end to this journey and go home, there was one more thing left to do in Cairo.
I was discharged early in the morning, and it was still slightly dark outside.
Joseph had driven us over to the pyramids which was where we first started our search for DIO upon reaching Cairo.
The car slowly came to a stop and everyone apart from me jumped out. Joseph and Jotaro got DIO's body out from the trunk whilst Nori grabbed the wheelchair that the hospital kindly provided me with to ensure I didn't move around too much whilst I was recovering.
Nori brought the wheelchair over to the side of the car and pulled open the car door. He carefully helped me out of the car and into the wheelchair. Once I was in the wheelchair, he brought me over to where Jotaro and Joseph had placed DIO's body on the sandy ground, and Polnareff, Avdol and Iggy joined us.
"So... This is finally it," I said as Nori put the brakes on the wheelchair and kneeled next to me. I felt a strong pair of hands rest themselves on my shoulders from behind me and I looked up to see Jotaro looking down at me with a soft smile.
"It certainly is." The delinquent nodded.
"And we've got the best seat in the house for it," Nori added.
Since DIO was a vampire, he was never able to be out in the sun, otherwise his body would turn to dust, which is why we were in the middle of the desert and waiting for the sun to rise. This was the last thing we had to do to ensure that DIO never returns.
I glanced down at the body in front of us and thought back to everything we had all been through. These 50 days had brought us closer together. Bonds were grown – some stronger than others. Things were learned that we probably wouldn't have learned if it wasn't for this journey.
We laughed. We cried. We grew stronger and overcame our weaknesses. We shared moments together, had the odd fall out with each other, but it never took long to be friends again.
I placed a hand on Jotaro's hand that was resting on my shoulder and glanced over at Nori as I thought about the relationship we had grown together. Now that was something I never expected to happen between the three of us. Here was me arguing with myself over who I wanted to be with after Jotaro and Nori had confessed their feelings to me. Jotaro and Nori came to the agreement that they didn't want me to make a choice and agreed that they would both be in a relationship with me – which eventually caused Jotaro and Nori to grow feelings for each other too.
I looked over towards the horizon and saw the sun starting to rise. It was finally time.
As the sun rose, its rays crawled across the sand towards DIO's body until it was fully basked in the sunlight. It didn't take long for DIO's body to turn to ash, and the soft breeze carried the ashes away until there was nothing left of him.
It was done. It was finally over, and we could all go home. Back to our normal lives.
