Chapter 12. The Fortuneteller.

Start from the beginning

"Maybe we should go see Aunt Wu and learn our fortunes. It could be fun!" Katara exclaimed excitedly. It made Sokka pull his attention to her, "Oh, come on. Fortunetelling is nonsense!"

"Here." Y/n held the parcel out to Aang when she noticed him looking curiously over her shoulder. He smiled brightly, snatching it from her hands. He quickly unwrapped it, and it turned out to be a red umbrella. He opened it, and held it above Y/n and himself, "What do you know? An umbrella!"

At that moment, the sky darkened and it started to rain. A low rumble of thunder could be heard. Katara ran under the umbrella, just barely getting under the shelter, "That proves it!"

"No, it doesn't!" Sokka resorted, holding the egg above his head to shield himself from the rain, "You can't really tell the future!"

"I guess you're not really getting wet then." Katara replied smugly, but her grin was quickly smeared off her face when Y/n stepped out from under the umbrella and walked over to Sokka.

She held her staff above her along with Sokka's and began to twirl it. With a shield of air forming above them, the rain stopped hitting the two. Y/n glanced at Sokka as she began to walk forward, "Can't have you getting sick on me. I'm not going through that again."

Sokka followed right beside her, a smile displayed on his lips as he walked along with her. The group started their walk through the forest. And so did the sibling's discussion.

"Of course she predicted it was going to rain. The sky's been grey all day!"

"Just admit you were wrong already!" Katara shouted back at her older brother.

Sokka stopped walking, in which Y/n halted as well to not let the rain hit him, "Look, I'm going to predict the future now." He started to hop from foot to foot in an exaggerated way, "It's going to keep raining!" He predicted before crossing his arms, "See?" He gestured to the rain.

Suddenly, the rain stopped falling and the sky lightened up. Aang tilted the umbrella back to observe the dramatic change in weather, "Not everyone has the gift, Sokka."

"Never mind that." Y/n sighed, stopping the twirl of her staff. She lowered her arm and began to walk ahead of the group, "Let's go. I want to at least get to the village today."

The team had reached the small village at the very base of a large mountain. Walking through the entrance of the village, turkey ducks quack at them as they passed.

They came to a stop by a strange man in black robe holding his hand out in front of them, "Aunt Wu is expecting you." He stated, gesturing to the round doorway he stood beside.

Katara perked up, "Really?" She asked excitedly before they walked through the doorway, the door being closed behind them. Sokka expressing his disgust with his expression.

Four pillows were situated on the floor to the right of the room. A young girl walked into the room clad in a pink robe and wearing her hair in braids that stick out from the sides of her head, "My name is Meng and I'm Aunt Wu's assistant." When her eyes suddenly widened, Y/n scratched the back of her head, "Hello?"

That seemed to snap the girl out of her daze. She shook her head, gesturing to the pillows, "Can I get you some tea or some of Aunt Wu's special bean curd puffs?" Meng asked, letting the group of four seat them selves on the pillows.

"I'll try a curd puff." Sokka said as he took a seat beside Y/n, he brightened up at the mentioning of food.

"Just a second." Meng excused. Bowing over to look at Y/n, "So what's your name?"
