"Oh come on its perfect." I tug his sleeve.

"it is."

We both laughed as quietly as we could.

"I guess it's time we leave?" I asked a little sad.

"uhuh. we can't risk staying any longer." He stood up and gently brushed my shoulder. He mumbled something about seeing dirt on it.

Before I could stand up a deep voice boomed from the other end of the hall.

"Sans is that you?" Steps followed the voice.

I was strongly pulled up from the chair and pushed behind the last column. I faced the entrance we came in through.

"don't move from here and stay quiet." Sans whispered sternly. Before I could answer he teleported to the middle of the hall, composed.

"hey asgore. hope you don't mind me stopping by."

"Not at all. You are always welcome. It is actually a good thing you came here. There was something I wanted to talk to you about."

"and what is that?"

"I imagine you are already aware of the two humans that dwell in the underground."

"of course. who doesn't?"

"Well there is something I'd like for you to do for me..."

As they talked I turned around and faced the column. I know that Sans said to stay quiet and not move. And while I have no intention of making a sound, my curiosity was getting the better of me.

So slowly and quietly. I sneaked to the left around the pillar. The space between the wall and column was narrow and it perfectly hid me in the shadows. As careful as I could, I took a peak and layed eyes on the king for the very first time.

He was tall and broad, a purple cape draped over his shoulders like a curtain hiding whatever he wore below. Like Toriel, he was a goat monster. On his head he had long golden hair, curled intimidating horns and a simple gold crown.

The monster's entire stance and character screamed courage, wisdom, leadership.... but I couldn't shake away the emotion his eyes held.

He looked exhausted, weighed down by the responsibility of doing the right thing for his citizens while managing his mistakes by himself. He looked lonely...

Very,

Very,

Lonely.

I felt sorry for him.

With a silent goodbye I tiptoed back around to my original hiding place and continued to listen in on their conversation.

"....Do you understand Sans?"

Sans' voice slightly changed. "I do... But I'm afraid I can't fulfill that request."

"How so?"

"..."

"I see... then bare this in mind. I have no intention of harming them.... Until one comes here on their own. Then I will do what is best for my kingdom."

". . ."

"Well..." I hear him clap. "You best be getting home! I will see you in a few weeks time."  The king said enthusiastically.

"thank you...king fluffy buns."

"Hahaha." His laugh bounced around the walls.

"Monsters still use that nickname?"

"you can never escape it. have a good evening asgore."

"You too."

Sans began to walk back. He stopped a little past the last pillar I hid behind when Asgore spoke once more.

"I hope you two had a good time here watching the sunset. It truly is a beautiful sight to behold..."

I stiffened.

Sans attempted to joke the king's comment off. "are you talking about you and me? cause those are the only monsters around here."

"You of all monsters should know what I am talking about." Echoes of his steps grew farther away as he left.

Sans walked back to me.

"Close one huh?" I whisper.

"yup. let's go now."

Frisk's POV

I sat on my bed in my new bedroom. I took Toriel's offer and made the decision to live here for the time being. Finally I had time to my self with no concern of someone peeking over my shoulder. I open y/n's old diary once again, determined to find out the truth.

What I did not know, was how horrifying that truth was going to be. This can't be real. It has to be a load of nightmares she had...

Right?
