Steve stood up next to Tony and put a hand on his shoulder to calm him down. The shorter man looked up at the soldier and softened his eyes. "Evidence? You talking about the stupid hammer incident? Thor said it himself, being "worthy" isn't the only reason mortals can lift up the hammer. For all we know this Spider might not be human at all! We know nothing about him!" His fist was clenching against the table. "How could you ever trust this guy."
The red head knew Stark wasn't going to change his mind. "It doesn't matter whether we know him or not. The city is always our first priority. If there is even a suspicion that hundreds of innocent people might die, then there is no way, that blood is on my hand's. Snap out of the 'Im never wrong' act and mature enough to understand what the risks are if we don't listen to him." She calmly stated. Her voice was quiet but stern. She turned to the door and walked out.
Steve looked down in embarrassment. Cap knew Nat was right even if we wanted to be on his secret lover's side. Momentarily I saw Tony's eyes in shame, but he none the less put the fake confidence back on and started talking.
"I will do more research on the Green Goblin. I'll see what I find on him. His recent fund's, his contacts with people, anything. Meanwhile I want you guys to try to find Spider-man and talk to him in person. Make sure you're wearing your microphone, it will be good to record any conversations with him, in case for future reference." He took a nervous, stressed breath. I could see his hands slightly shaking. He fixed his posture and began talking again. "Make sure to gain his trust, we need the upper hand in this. No matter what the Spider says, we take control of the situation in case it get's messy."
~Wade's POV~
"HOLY SHI-" [language] A picture of my next target sat on my computer screen. Peter Parker is the super hot guy that sit's next to me in math class! Why would someone want him dead? I've only been in school for like a week and I love math just because of him.
I grabbed my phone and pressed on Weasels contact. It rang a few times be four he answered.
"uhh, Wilson? Dude you know it's like 1 in the morning right?"
I looked back at my phone, the time said 12:48am.
"Mhm, yah. You know that new target you sent me not too long ago? The really expensive one?" (What are we doing?) [I dont know but I think Weasels is still half asleep to process anything we just said]
"Huh?"
"Peter Parker"
He paused for a moment, searching for anything that rung a bell.
"OHHHH yaaaaahhhhh! I remember, that kid from Midtown right? Sorry, I know you dont take young ones but I thought you might want him cuz of how much money you will get paid-"
"no no no no, it's not about the money. I just need to know who hired you to kill him? Who wants him dead?" I interrupted.
"oh uh, I don't know he didn't give me a name. He just offered a lot of money so I didn't think twice. He looked hella rich. In a suit and everything, I think he was sick though. His skin looked a tiny bit green in the lighting and he couldn't stop smiling and laughing. He was probably high or something." Weasels replied. I thought for a moment until and idea came up.
"You know the Chinese place right next to the pub? Do you know if they have a camera?" (This is stupid. We should just kill the boy and buy some more cool weapons with the money)
"I hope not. If they do, and someone snitches on me, both me and you are screwed. I should check in on that-"
I hung up without a care. I jumped onto my chair and rolled it towards the desc. Typing in the computer password, I started doing some research.
With my job being a mercenary and all, I learned some tricks and tips about computer's and security tapes.~time skip~
(Ew, it smells like cat piss in here. Are you sure we can't just kill the employee over there and call it a day?) [We are here to get the security footage so we can find out who that weird rich man was]
The place was empty, except from the teenager sitting in front of the register, playing some video came of some sort. The lighting inside was very yellow. Brown, square tiles scattered the floor- but something told me they used to be white.
For the first time in forever I wasn't in my usual red and black suit for a task. The dude looked up from his phone lazily, eyeing me up and down. "What can I get ya?" He placed his phone down and clicked his pen, ready to write my order down on the small white notepad in his hand.
"What do you recommend?" My eyes caught a door behind him, most likely to the office or something. He looked annoyed for a moment before speaking "I don't know man, the Peking duck?"
His attitude irritated me but I kept my act together. "Sure." I blankly nodded.
The dude turned around to the small kitchen he had behind the counter. I watched him prepare the Chinese dish for me.
"Hey, is it okay if I step out for a phone call? I'll be back to pick up my order in a few." I stated, not giving him a chance to answer.
I waited for him to disappear to the back of the kitchen, were he couldn't see me.
Instead of leaving like I told him I would though, I jumped over the counter quietly and sneaked through the door I noticed earlier.
Once I was in the 'staff only' room, I shut the door as silently as I could manage and put my focus on the old dark blue laptop that was sat on a table. The room was incredibly small and dark. There was a single bookshelf, filled with CD's and documents. Leaning forward, I opened the dusty laptop.
There was a green post-it-note inside.answer Becky in the email she sent me yesterday. The passcode is '31/01/1978"
Tell her to pick up the order.....I didn't read the rest of it, clearly nothing I was interested in. I typed in the password to the laptop. It felt like years to load but eventually it did.
[Bingo, didn't even have to threaten anyone for the password this time]The files on the laptop were horrendous. Nothing was organized or labeled.
(Oh look! They have cute baby pictures on here!) [this is probably the owners office, let's just get what we came for and just go] (Why are we here anyway, I thought we were meant to kill that Peter guy)"Ugh no, we aren't killing him. His face looks too pure to do anything worth killing. We are looking for there security footage to see if they caught a glimpse of the guy who wants Parker dead" I whispered back to the voices. After some more clicking and searching through the files, I found downloadable files named 'cameras'
The footage displayed 4 different angles. Although very bad quality, still good enough to see faces. The first camera was of the kitchen. The second was of the waiting area, infront of the counter, following by a camera pointing to the outside of the store. It was positioned outside the from door. The last camera was filming the back of the building, the Alleyway. Although you couldn't see Weasels door to the pub, you could still see enough.
I skipped to a couple days back. I could see multiple sketchy people coming in and out of the pub but non which fit Weasels discretion of the man.
I was about to give up until something caught my eye. A black limo parked up in the corner of the building. The camera barely caught it but a license plate was seen. A man dressed in a black suit, smiling and laughing uncontrollably stepped out of the car.
(Woah, Weasel wasn't joking when he said green)
The man looked fine untill the light from the care shined in his face. His skin was lightly tinted green, with small wrinkles spread out evenly around his face.
The man walked confidently to the back door of the pub, holding a file in his hands.
[wait wait, Go back]
Furrowing my eyebrows at Whites claim, I rewinded the tape backwards a little.
(Oh I see. Zoom in, you have a clear picture of his face.)
I widened my eyes suddenly as I recognized the face.
Norman Osborne, in other words the Goblin.
(Omg it's Gobby! We haven't seen him since we bothered him about the money he was stealing a year ago)
[What?]
(Remember a year ago? When someone hired us to kill Norman because of the huge amounts of money he was stealing from his workers)
[Well we obviously didn't do such a great task if he's still alive...]I shushed the voices in a rush and closed the laptop shut. I tip toad out of the room, the guy was still making that meal I ordered in the kitchen next to me. He was wrapping up my order in a styrofoam box with a plastic fork. I sneaked back towards the counter and carefully jumped over it, landing right when the boy came back.
"Oh, I didn't hear you come back in. That's 28.59$" He said bored.
I blinked at the price but payed him anyway. He handed me the box and put the cash inside the register.
I grumbled out of the store and made my way back home while opening the box of steamy food. Inside was meat, duck I think he said, in slices with some sauce on the side.
