"Steven, tell him to stop following me", I raised a brow at him.

Steven shrugged, "Lion just does what he wants". Sticking out a pink tongue, Lion began to softly lick my face. I scrunched up my nose in repulsion, stepping back to use the sleeve of my jacket to wipe the slobber and saliva on my face.

He then began to smile, "I think he likes you!".

"No, I know what he wants", I grumbled, reaching back into my bag to take out the container of sushi rolls. I placed it in front of Lion as he devoured the entire thing quicker than he could chew it. I frowned at him, watching him scoff up the remainder of my lunch.

Steven rubbed the back of his neck, "Don't worry, I'll get your more!", he reassured me before his face tinted with a soft pink blush. "Maybe we can go an-and...get some after school together?", he muttered the last part, tensely shifting his eyes around. He was a little uneasy clutching and playing with the hem of his shirt timidly.

"I want to, but--", I narrowed my brows, "My mum and I aren't really on the best terms right now. I doubt she'll let me".

"Oh, ok...", Steven tried not to sound disappointed. He felt that ever since he discovered his crush on me, he's been overthinking a lot of things. It was so obvious to him that he was obliviously trying to sneak his way into hanging out with me.

"Maybe next time".

Steven watched with weary eyes as I took off, shouting a quick goodbye and hoping I heard it. A sigh left his mouth, as he inclined his body forward, resting his body on Lion's fluffy mane. He caught a few uncomfortable looks from people who were passing by the school, as having a Lion was considered dangerous, but he didn't really notice. His face was still the same shade of pink, matching the fur of his pet.

"I still can't wrap my head around the fact that I have a crush on her!", he muttered out loud, stretching his body out on Lion's back. Steven felt an unusual sensation rush and course through his veins. It was a hazy, floaty feeling that clogged up his brain. A side effect? It struck his mind like he was drugged on some sort of medication that had horrible aftermath. But surprisingly, it didn't feel horrible.

"Was it too obvious when I tried to ask her to have sushi with me?", he asked his lion, slightly rhetorically. Lion began scratching and digging at the dirt below him, not acknowledging anything Steven had to say.

With a weary smile, Steven sighed, "Come on, let's head back".

I sat down at the table, instinctively adapting to the shaded corner of the cafeteria that we would constantly sit at. Frankie glanced over at me, stopping mid-sentence with her conversation with Owen, who I noticed had added a little extra food to his tray than usual. A small grin made it's way onto my face, proud that he finally decided to stop being such a door matt and was starting to eat comfortably. Frankie had a slight frown. "Jerry isn't with you?", she asked me.

I shook my head, biting into a slice of apple. "Ish hea sappose to bie?", I asked, my mouthful of food. Frankie raised a brow, clearly, she didn't understand a thing I said.

"What?".

I swallowed the apple and repeated, "Is he supposed to be?".

"As soon as the bell went, he dashed off", Owen said, his eyes shifting around the room to see if he could spot him. Jerry didn't come through the cafeteria doors, and he was getting slightly apprehensive.
