he moved his hands, pushing the water to get closer to me before he cupped my face, his large hands covering both sides. i've never kissed anyone underwater before, so when he leaned closer and kissed me i was a bit startled. it was one long kiss before he let go, both of us swimming up for air.
we were in there longer than i had thought, my lungs taking in huge breaths of the clean air as i moved my feet and arms to stay at the surface of the water. it wasn't long before we were pulled out with the group to get the lunch kayla had been speaking of. the outdoor restaurant was across the pool, everyone who was done swimming ate in their attire. I quickly dried my body, putting on a loose summer dress i packed with me over my bathing suit, slipping off my wet shorts.
i tied my wet hair into a bun so that water wouldn't drip onto my skin as we ate. once we all ate while forming conversation, we went back to our rooms, having just enough time to shower before leaving for soundcheck. by the time i reached the cars outside, emily and harry had already took one, so i joined kayla and timothée.
it was quiet, a bit awkward as kayla tried not to laugh, timothée unbothered as he had his shades on. i shook my head at kayla with a small smile, trying to ignore the tension as i looked out the window instead.
there was a bit of traffic, so the car was slowly moving, kayla and i forming conversation about the music we were working on. so far, we've gotten the chorus down and parts of the first verse. kayla had already came up with the melody of the song—it was a sad, slow song. i mean, what did we expect? three girls getting their emotions out and song-writing together, it was bound to happen.
i'll say, i had written most of it—the lyrics came easy to me once kayla had played the guitar. they loved the things i came up with, which made me feel so happy because i'm so used to being criticized heavily when song-writing for other people. but getting to write about my emotions and the things the girls and i had shared with each other felt so relieving. like we were being heard.
all of us had been bickering about who was going to sing and record the demo—apparently we were all shy when it came to singing our own things. which was funny, since we all sang on stage together in the back. i told them we should all sing it together, but kayla said it'd be easier for one person to record it at first. it was emily's idea to record our first draft once we finished the song so that we could show it to other people for opinions and advice.
harry had the most experience when it came to the process of making songs and being in the studio, so kayla pitched the idea of showing it to him first. that immediately made me tell one of them to sing it, since i didn't mind.
"i'm not singing it alone!" kayla whisper yelled, "besides, this song feels like it's you. you put a lot of your emotions into it, it's clearly something you wanna sing about."
"so have you, and emily. the things i wrote were personal to all of us." i said, glad that timothée had his headphones in.
"well i know emily won't do it, she told me she didn't want to. and she doesn't budge like i do, so it's either you or me." kayla said, crossing her arms.
"okay, so you, it's solved." i said quickly, causing her to smile as she opened her mouth.
"no way! you, i already said i think this song fits your voice well. you're voice is deeper than ours." she said.
