Zombie Apocalypse au
Death
Gore
Blood
Um. I'm not okay.
Shirabu held tight onto my arm shaking a bit.
When stuff like this happened I was always confused with my feelings.
It was sweet to see how much he needed me, but a little sadding to see him upset.
He never liked thunderstorms in the first place.
"Are you okay baby?"
"Don't call me baby!" He yelled slightly looking up at me before another loud boom shook the house. He turned back into my chest holding onto me tighter.
I laughed a bit pulling him closer if possible.
"It should calm down to just rain in a bit."
"Why do thunder storms even exist? Fuck you thunder."
"You can't do anything about it Shira"
"Shut up. You're annoying."
"Says you."
"You're calling me annoying?"
"Yes. Am I wrong?"
"OF COURSE YOU ARE YOUR SO ANNOYING!!"
"I'M NOT ANNOYING YOU'RE STUPID!!"
"I WAS THE ONLY ONE ON THE VOLLEYBALL TEAM THAT GOT IN TO THE SCHOOL BASED ON AN ACTUAL SCHOOL TEST!! HOW AM I THE STUPID ONE?!"
"Hey look the storm passed."
Shirabu looked up as if he could see the clouds but realized that it had been awhile.
"Alright, I don't need you anymore." He said getting up and leaving.
"WAIT NO SHIRA COME CUDDLE ME AGAIN!"
~
Cooking was always fun for me. I get to show off my impressive skills. Thanks mom.
"That smells good hurry up and finish it slow poke."
"Don't rush me, or I'll purposely burn your food."
"Nooooooo. The only reason I'm dating you is because your good at cooking...and maybe cause your hot...and cool. Damnit."
"I'm hot?~"
Shirabu ignored me blushing turning up the tv.
"Clear skies tomorrow, and a beautiful starry night perfect for star watching!"
"Hey you wanna-"
"Let's do it." I said, it's been a while since we had a date, and luckily tomorrow we were both off from our jobs. And star watching with Shirabu sounded amazing...
Then again anything with Shirabu is amazing.
"You're so gay for me."
"You're gay for me too, was it last week when you were begging for me to-"
"I CAN TOP YOU IF I MUST!!" He yelled turning up the tv louder while I just laughed.
"In other news, people think a zombie apocalypse is soon to happen. There have been over one hundred reports of people attacking others, tearing open there bodies and eating them....the people committing this act are still able to communicate normally and such, but...who knows...they've been restricted and police are saying to be careful."
"A zombie apocalypse? Sounds fake."
"Weren't you interested in those back at Shiratorizawa?"
"In what zombies? I mean, a little, it was more like worldwide crisis. I only enjoyed it cause it was fake and isn't possible...right..?"
"Are you scared?"
"WHAT NO!"
I laughed a bit before I turned the oven off and walked over to Shirabu.
"No matter what I'll protect you~ I'm sure it'll be alright. Now your food is ready, don't let my amazing food go to waste and get cold."
"It isn't that amazing."
"The only reason I'm dating you is because your good at cooking" I mocked repeating his words from earlier.
"Shut up."
~
"Okay, I'll admit, I love this."
I laughed running my hands through Shirabu's hair as he laid down on me.
Turns out Shirabu knew a lot about stars, so he pointed out lots of different constellations. They were pretty interesting, and beautiful to see.
The only part I hated so far was when Shirabu made up a fake one called 'fuck you' and said it's what he wanted to say to me all the time, but even then, it was sweet.
"I love you so much Semi, I mean, not really, but I do."
"Damn, heart been broke-"
"If you finish that sentence I'll beat you."
"Like you could."
"I totally could."
"Y-You..."
Me and Shirabu both sat up hearing a voice. We turned to see a person nearby slowly walking to us.
"Um...do you need something...?" I asked while they continued walking.
"Eat...you...hun....hungry."
"I'm sorry? Speak clearly."
"Hey Shirabu, be a little nice." I said looking at him for a moment before turning back to the person.
And they clawed my arm.
"AH! WHAT THE HELL?!" I shouted jumping away and grabbing Shirabu putting him behind me.
"So..hungry...food, food.."
I ignored the sting backing away from them before grabbing Shirabu's arm and running back to our house since we didn't go that far.
"A-Are you okay Semi?! Semi are you okay?! W-We can go to the-"
"I-I'm fine. Just maybe need to wrap it with a bandage, c-can you get it...should be in the bathroom..."
He rushed off without a thought.
I looked at the scratch- no cut. That person was strong. It was almost like claw marks, the cuts were deep and blood seeped out repeatedly. While Shirabu got the bandages I walked over near the sink and washed off the wound. Blood still came out, but at least it was disinfected.
Shirabu returned with the bandages helping me wrap it around my arm.
"A-Are you sure you're okay-"
"I'm fine Shirabu, it just stings a bit...I'm sure it'll be fine, don't worry about me okay?"
"How I'm not gonna worry about you like who the fuck even was that and why the hell did they do it I'm gonna beat their fucking-"
"Shirabu. I'm okay I'm promise, I'm not gonna die. I'm just glad you weren't hurt."
"But you were and-"
"I love you Shirabu, alright?" I said placing a kiss on his lips.
"You did that to shut me up."
"So what if I did?"
"I hate you."
"Love you too~"
"You sure you'll be okay? It doesn't hurt or anything?"
I gave him a hug holding him tightly.
"It hurts a bit, but I promise you I'll be fine."
He sighed and hugged me back while I just laughed.
Suddenly our tv turned on and a loud noise went off. We turned our heads to the tv to see a giant red screen, but soon it turned to the same news reporter from yesterday.
"We interrupt your program to announce a possible emergency! As said yesterday people had been considering a zombie apocalypse soon to happen, with more reports of these people the government suggests that you stay indoors until further notice!! These zombies now on the street attacking people without a thought and eating them alive! We have no idea how this'll develop, but please lock up your house and don't let anyone who isn't inside in. Stay safe.."
"...."
We were both quiet for a bit. Realizing who that people were that attacked me.
"You think...?" Shirabu asked looking at my bandaged cut.
I really didn't know what to say. Those people didn't seem there, and the way they said hungry...
"Let's...lock up the house-"
"Don't change the subject....what if-"
I looked away from him as he stopped looking where my eyes went.
A knife.
I grabbed it quickly and gave it to him.
"Look...we don't know...anything about this, but...if I try to hurt you...please protect yourself."
"No Semi-"
"It's only an if. Alright? Don't worry...I'm sure it'll be okay...l-let's lock up the house quickly." I said walking to the front door locking it.
Even though I told him not to worry, I was so worried. I didn't want to hurt him in any way...and I'm scared.
I just prayed it would be okay, and that we would make it out of here.
Me and Shirabu locked up the entire house making sure it would be impossible to get in without making a loud noise so we would know.
It was a little scary not knowing what was gonna happen once we fell asleep.
"Do you...think we shouldn't sleep out in the open?"
"What do you mean?"
"...if they manage to get in, and were out in the open sleeping...we'd be pretty easy to get to."
"I didn't even think of that..okay, your pretty smart."
"Shut up."
"Well...where could we sleep?"
"Maybe..a closet? Or something? N-Nevermind, I just sound stupid don't I? Let's-"
"Shira." I said as he turned to face me.
"We can sleep in the closet, I mean, it's okay to go back in the closet-"
"Oh my gosh your literally so stupid I hate you."
"Yea sureee~"
"Shut up, I'll beat you."
~
I woke up when I heard a loud bang. A little scared I looked around for the knife we had brought just in case. Once I found it I slowly started shaking Shirabu awake.
"Nghh..Sem-"
I put my hand over his mouth signaling for him to be quiet. We heard another loud bang that was much louder, it sounded like the door had broken down.
I moved my free hand around looking for Shirabu's hand, and once I found it I held it in mine.
He looked at me and fear was in his eyes.
They screamed loud.
"Are we gonna be okay?"
I nodded my head pulling him closer to me.
Another loud bang, on the door leading to where we were hidden this time. We both froze not daring to move.
Shirabu had tears in his eyes and smiled him.
"Shhh don't worry..." I whispered quietly.
Another bang and the door fell down. I held my breath.
Luck.
The door fell so that we would be cover from its view.
The zombie.
It's face was torn apart, along with its clothes. It looked around the closet only seeing the door.
It stayed a second longer before turning and stumbling out of view.
Once I was sure it was out of the room I pulled Shirabu close to me hugging him. His eyes had been closed the entire time.
"Hey, hey it's fine. It's fine. It's gone, we're safe, alright?" I said wiping away his tears.
"Semi please...promise we'll get out of here together."
"I promise."
"You...swear not to break it?"
"I won't break it."
~
This zombie infection grew over night quickly. When me and Shirabu left our hiding spot and looked through the window there was many of them. We weren't sure how it got around so fast...
It was scary looking at everything.
How they just walked the streets looking for us. We went to our living room looking around. Some doors were knocked down, and stuff was destroyed. Shirabu had been right, we probably would've died if we slept in our bed.
I put our knife on the table and turned on the tv instantly finding the news. There was one early this morning.
"This infection is spreading quickly! No one is sure how it's infecting people, but the government had order to stay indoors and keep a weapon nearby. More-" she paused as her eyes widened. She ran and the camera dropped to the floor. There was some screaming. Then a zombie, walking slowly to the camera. Not noticing it it continued to walk pass before even more showed up.
There was a lot.
"Even the news station...?"
"I guess so..." I said as Shirabu took deep breaths trying to calm himself.
"Hey, I'm telling you, we'll be okay. Both of us. Jeez you never listen."
"Please shut up...but okay..." he said laughing a bit. Suddenly we heard a loud noise from the bathroom.
"Get behind me." I said to him grabbing the knife I had placed on the table moments ago.
Guarding Shirabu, I watched as a zombie slowly stumbled out. My breath stopped for a moment. It looked at me, and started walking over. I panicked a bit, watching as it came closer.
And then I remembered Shirabu.
I have a promise to him...
Without hesitating I quickly got a bit closer before stabbing it and pushing it down to the floor. It bleed out reaching its hand out. Before it fell.
I turned to Shirabu who looked amazed filled with shock.
"You alright?" I asked.
"Yes I'm fine but- that was...cool? I know this is, scary shit, but, I don't know."
"I am pretty cool~"
He rolled his eyes at me while I just laughed a bit.
But then we looked again at the zombie that laid on the floor.
"How do you think...they get like this..?"
I shrugged my shoulders not really knowing the answer. I had been scratched yet I was still fine.
"I'm pretty sure it isn't safe here though..."
"Where is it even safe?"
"Maybe in a different town..?"
"I doubt it...but we shouldn't stay here..." he said before going to our bedroom and coming back with 2 backpacks.
"We should get food."
"Smart Shirabu."
For once I did what Shirabu asked of me and got plenty of food, water, and a first aid kit we had in our bathroom.
I still had no idea what could happen to me...
"Hey shouldn't we get wea-"
"Think fast."
I turned and barely caught the bat he threw at me.
"I was into this shit in high school, I'm way ahead of you."
"Unfortunately true, but I'm stronger then you, so I'm protecting you."
"I can take care of myself, but...don't leave me." I looked over at him who smiled a bit.
"Let's go then." I said.
~
I looked at Shirabu who was sleep soundly on the blanket we had. It was pretty peaceful watching him sleep. Then she put her hand on his chest.
I looked at Mori, her name was.
We had found her only around 3 days ago, but she made me a little mad. She was clingy to Shirabu and touched him more then she needed to.
Okay maybe that's just jealously but she wasn't the best survivor either. She constantly complained about being tired and hungry, then get mad when we save our food. She could barely fight off a zombie as well.
Shirabu seemed like he didn't like her either, but it's not like we could leave her. In a world like we live in now, it'd just be evil leaving someone alone.
Shirabu groaned pulling away from Mori who apparently started hugging his arm.
I looked at him as he rubbed his eyes trying to wake up properly.
"Morning sleepy head~" I teased even though it was clearly still dark outside.
He rolled his eyes at me getting up and moving towards me laying his head down on my shoulder.
"When did this whole thing start again?"
"Around the beginning of
January, why?"
"Do you think our anniversary has passed already?"
"February 14th. What if it's passed twice?"
"Seems possible. Feels like forever we've been searching for somewhere."
I laughed a bit at him running my hands through his hair.
"Hey Kenji, you wanna know what I wanted to do for you on our anniversary?"
"Hm?"
"I wanted to propose to you~" I said calmly as he opened his eyes looking at me.
"You what?" He asked not believing me.
I repeated myself while he just stared surprised and happy.
"So." I said breaking the silence.
"When we get out of this hell, would you like to marry me?"
"Of fucking course! You better take good care of me!"
"Why wouldn't I? Actually yea, maybe I'll make you clean the house and all of that."
"It'll be your money paying for a maid then."
We both laughed a bit. It was a little rare that we had these moments.
It almost felt...normal.
After all these days, weeks, maybe even months since everything started, we still had each other.
I don't want that to change.
Me and Shirabu both heard the rustle of grass looking over to the moving grass. It was obvious by the moment of the grass there was zombies there.
I started grabbing all of our stuff quickly while Shirabu woke up Mori.
"Hey, hurry up and wake up we gotta go." He whispered pulling on her. She opened her eyes slowly taking her time to wake up.
"Come on get up!" I yelled slightly.
But because I lost my patience it caused them to look over at us and run to us. Luckily she was up and on her feet, but she wasn't a fast runner. There was 3 of them after us as we started running.
"Each of us get one." Shirabu said grabbing the axe he had. He swung it at a zombies head chopping it off while I got my bat and pushed down the zombie before beating it.
"AH!" We heard Mori cry watching as a zombie bit her. I swung my bat knocking it away from her while Shirabu finished it.
"Damnit! Okay stay still." I said as she fell to the floor holding her arm.
"It hurts! God it hurts!" She yelled before Shirabu hushed her.
"I-I feel...hungry...a-and..."
We looked at her as she slowly stopped crying out in pain. Then she stood up again, me and Shirabu backing away slightly confused by her sudden stop of pain.
"Mori-"
She scratched at Shirabu's face.
I turned to her quickly seeing as she tried to tackle him.
She was on the floor almost instantly.
I observed her...and she wasn't a human anymore.
"I'm sorry..." I mumbled.
I swung the bat again killing her.
I instantly felt guilty. No one deserved to die like that...but we didn't have a choice.
"Shirabu are you okay...?" I asked as he held his face wincing slightly.
"Y-Yea maybe a bandage but Mori..."
"We didn't have a choice Shirabu...she was gone...I didn't wanna do that..."
"I know...." he said looking down.
"Why did this happen Eita..?"
"I wish I knew..." I said pulling him into a hug.
Hesitantly we walked back to the shed where him and Mori once slept. This time it was just Shirabu.
~
I looked around. Clear.
I walked in the isle before my jaw dropped.
There was lots of food. Enough to last a week.
"Holy shit." Shirabu said after seeing.
Being a little careful we checked the dates, but then realized that was pointless since we didn't even know the date. We tried the best to see if it was old or moldy.
Obviously there was old stuff that was no good, but around half of it looked perfectly fine to eat.
"This is amazing." I said smiling as we grabbed the food and stuff it in our backpacks. Good thing we decided to go to this mall.
"This is so fucking awesome, when's the last time we even ate?"
"Like, 4 days ago, I'm starving this is perfect."
We laughed as we finished collecting the food.
"I don't wanna jinx us...but it's been a good day. We've barely faught any zombies, and then all this food." I said before Shirabu grunted.
"Great, you've jinxed us!"
"How do you know?"
"I just do , I am the smarter one after all."
"Be quiet...you got all of it right?"
He nodded zipping up his bag.
"Damn, been a while since this bag has been heavy."
"Yea...it's nice we found this."
I looked at Shirabu hearing his tone of voice. It was different. He seemed a lot more happier then usual. He looked extremely happy and almost started crying.
"S-Sorry...just feels like forever since anything good has happened...and I'm happy about it."
"Aww Shirabu...come here." I said opening my arms to him and hugging him. He cried slightly into my chest while I laughed at him.
"Good to see you happy."
"You're so fucking gay."
"Oh and you aren't?" I teased.
He then punched me a bit while I rolled my eyes.
"Come on, let's get back to the school so we can eat finally."
"Where even is it?"
"It's west from here, don't worry, just follow me."
We walked back to the school cautiously of course not wanting all this food to go to waste. When we arrived however we noticed a few army soldiers near the gate of the school. I put Shirabu behind me, it was hard to trust people any more. Last time we saw someone they tried to kill us for food.
Luckily if this apocalypse taught us anything it's to run fast.
We watched as they left seeing a little poster that wasn't there before.
"Let's hope people see this, if there's any left."
"Well we're alive aren't we?"
"We have guns, not everyone has them."
"Yea yea, let's hurry and put up more signs."
They walked away until we could barrly see them. We walked over to the poster they had left.
IMPORTANT READ!!!!
"A shelter for those left alive. Please follow directions. Shelter will close after 1 month." I said reading it.
I looked at Shirabu with a smile almost.
"Y-You think it's real?!"
"I-I mean those soldiers put it right! Holy shit this has to be real!"
I hugged Shirabu finally hoping that maybe this could all be over. We could finally return to life.
"I love you Kenji."
"Me too Eita." He said laughing and pulling away.
I kissed him and he kiss back.
We could have this back finally.
"Should we go now?"
"We have a month is what it says, we should rest, weren't you complaining about being tired earlier."
"It was a joke dumbass! Let's go come on."
"Your pretty eager. Let's eat and rest, when we wake up tomorrow we can leave, it'll be late soon anyways." I said.
He sighed, mumbled something about hating me and walked inside the school.
I watched him.
"We can finally achieve our promise~" I said laughing before following him.
~
"Get out of the way bastards!!" Shirabu shouted hitting one of the zombies with his axe to the floor.
When we left the school we were almost instantly attacked by zombies. There had been 3 inside and 4 more outside.
After walking a bit we found another 5 that almost got us. We had to take a break eating a few snacks before continuing. There was another 4 again along the way, that we were finishing off currently. We were almost there though according to the map. Around 6 more blocks.
"Leave us alone!" Shirabu yelled finishing off the last one. He usually yelled insults only every now and then, but the whole time he's been shouting anything he can when killing the zombies.
"You're pretty vocal today." I said catching my breath.
Fighting them off was tiring as hell.
"Yea well, I just wanna hurry and get there, of course I'm pissed at these guys. Wasting the time I could be spending with you there."
"You love me so much don't you~"
"Shut up and hurry." He said walking away as I ran to catch up.
We were silent as we walked for a bit.
"Remember the promise we made?" He asked.
"Of course I do. I told you I wouldn't break it didn't I?"
"Thanks."
"Thanks?"
"For keeping it. I...I don't think I would be here if I didn't have you...so thanks."
I smiled down at him.
"I'm sure you could do amazing without me."
"Yea sure."
As we walked once again we spotted a group together.
Eleven of them this time.
"Damnit right in the way. Bitches."
"You think you can get five of them?"
"What about you? You'll have six. That's a lot.."
I nodded realizing it was probably true. I noticed a small little building right by them that seemed empty.
"Alright, if it gets too much I'll tap you, and we run there to hide, got it?"
"...fine, you better not hurt yourself."
I nodded before we both started running near them instantly attacking them and separating them five for Shirabu, six for me. I handled the first and second ones easily before I started struggling with the third. It was strong and took a lot of energy to get it. As I was taking a breath the fourth attacked me. I was barely able to get it before Shirabu helped me. He must've finished his five already. Suddenly the fifth one scratched my face, and I yelled dropping my weapon.
"DON'T FUCKING TOUCH HIM BITCH!" He yelled killing it. He grabbed my wrist and dragged me to the little building...
but we forget about the sixth one.
It grabbed me, and pulled me away from him.
And bit my shoulder.
~
No. No. No. Nonononononononononononononono.
This isn't real. It's a dream. I don't even care if this shelter is real or not anymore.
This is just a dream.
I looked at Semi.
No.
This is real.
The look in his eyes say it all.
"Im leaving arent I?" They said.
"NO DAMNIT!!" I shouted hitting the zombie with the axe not bother to take it out. I pulled Semi away from him, and carried him to the little building.
"Kenji..."
"Shut up Eita! Don't say it! DON'T FUCKING SAY IT!!! I DONT WANNA HEAR IT!!!"
"Kenjirou!" He yelled.
But, it wasn't even a yell. It was a cry, for me to listen.
"I-I'm sorry..." he said.
"SHUT UP EITA!!! Y-YOU NEED TO LIVE PLEASE!!! YOU CAN'T LEAVE!!! EITA!!!" I cried grabbing his shirt sobbing into his chest.
He laughed slightly running his hands through my hair.
"I don't wanna...be like that...a zombie...I-I mean." he said quietly reaching in his pocket.
I shook my head crying more as I saw what he had put in my hands.
A knife.
"N-No. Eita-"
"Please Kenjirou. Please. Make it to the shelter for me."
I could only hold onto him for a little longer.
I knew it was for the best but...I don't want this.
"Eita....I-I cant...."
"You can Kenjirou...I-I know you can." He said lifting his hand to wipe my tears, though they came back immediately.
"I love you."
I hugged him tightly.
"I love you too Eita." I said.
As I pulled away.
Held the knife up.
And stabbed him.
I watched as his face went from a sad smile to pain.
I cried even harder barely able to see due to the tears in my eyes.
"Ahaha....d-don't cry...Kenjirou....."
"That's impossible..."
He nodded.
"Hey...don't...forget me...."
"I could never." I said through my cries.
"Smile...w-why don't you? You know...I'm happy it's...t-this way...then any...any other way."
"But...your gone this way...how is-"
"Kenjirou."
I looked up at him. His eyes were slowly fading of life.
"I love you."
He smiled and closed his eyes.
But they didn't open back up.
"E-Eita....please. P-please...just come back..."
Nothing.
"EITA!!!" I cried grabbing onto him.
Nothing.
So that's it? He's really gone.
"You....broke our promise..."
