Speeches, dances, putting my foot in my mouth and leaving.
Elena's POV: (Opening thoughts)
We;; weddings over and now it's reception. Which of course is lovely decorated thanks to my pixie like new sister in law. That feels weird saying.

We are greeting people and thanking them for coming. Seth comes running up to us.
"Hey man!" He greets Edward like a brother. Their relationship had grown since the battle with Victoria and Riley when they fought side by side. They bro hug. "Nice to see you. I'm happy for you."
"Thank you," Edward says to him.
Billy and Carol appear. I hug carol.
"Congratulations Elena," she says and then she smiles at Edward kindly. "I'm Carol Black... Damon's mum, it's nice to meet you."
Edward shakes her hand and greets her with a warm smile. "And you too Mrs Black."
"Carol please," she says sounding offended.
"I hope you'll be happy Elena," he tells me. "And I'm sure Jake'll tell you himself when he's done dancing with Bella!"
We all laugh.
"Thank you you two," I say before turning my attention fully to Carol. "Have you heard from him?"
Her smile drops a little but she knows who I mean straight away. "I'm sure Damon wishes you the best."
I nod. Although Damon and I had set boundaries he still does not want me to become a vampire so he does not want Edward and I to get married.
"Well I plan on getting drunk," Charlie says and we all chuckle before he turns to Sue Clearwater. "They're serving up some pretty fancy champagne. Sue, can I get you and Carol a glass?"
Billy turns his chair and bumps him. "Sparkling fire water! Sounds great!"
Seth pats his shoulder and follows him as they head for the bar. I smile as first Carol and then Charlie and Sue follow the two.
"Elena," a voice says and a brown hair woman I recognise as a vampire approaches me and kisses me on either side of my face.
The brown hair male by her side hugs Edward and says. "Thank you."
"Thank you," Edward says sounding cheerful.
I know who these guys must be when I see the three blonde girls stood behind them, with a man and another blonde further out.
"Eleazer and Carmen, right?" I ask wanting to confirm and they both nod.
Carmen nods and Eleazer greets me. "Hola."
"Yes and these are our cousins from Alaska and Rosalie's little sister," Edward says and the curly haired blond seems to tense at Rosalie's name. "Tanya, Kate, and ."
"We've heard so much about you," Kate says.
"All good things," Stefan says hugging Edward. "Edward glad you found someone. It's not the same unless you have a good woman at your side!"
"Stefan!" Caroline exclaims and we all laugh but she turns to me. "It's nice to meet you. I'm sure my sister has mentioned me."
"Once or twice," I say shaking her hand. "I can see the resemblance."
"Welcome to the family," Eleazer says.
"Thank you," I say to them grateful they except me.
"Irina!" Carmen says calling out to the blonds who is stood away from our group, staring at the Blacks. "Come meet Elena!"
Irina walks towards us looking pissed, for some reason. Oh wait! Wasn't Irina the one who dated... Oh boy! The wolves and Irina could cause a problem.
"I can't do this!" Irina tells her family looking gloomy.
"You promised," Kate reminds her.
"You can't do this," Caroline says.
But Irina just glances at the Black's. "They invited one."
She is staring at Seth who is watching her. Seth then turns away, as he clearly realizes what she is.
"Irina he's our friend," Edward tries to explain as he keeps an arm around my waist.
She has tears in her eyes as she answers. "They killed Laurent."
"He tried to kill Elena," Edward points out what happened in our meadow when he was not there and I had gone there to try and remember him.
"I don't believe that," she snaps at him as she gets really close to him. "He wanted to be like us. To live in peace with humans... with me."
"I'm sorry," Edward says even though he was not the one to kill Laurent.
Irina walks off.
"Irina!" Carmen calls after her and the others all look guilty.
"Well," Carmen says turning to us. "Let's not monopolize the bride. Congratulations."
"Thank you," I say as Stefan pats Edward on the shoulder and shakes my hand.
"Congratulations," Caroline hugging me. "We'll talk some more later. I need to talk to Rosalie."
"Thanks Caroline," I say liking this girl.
"Sorry," Kate says before all of them move off to find Irina.
"Well what's a wedding without some family drama?" Edward asks just as my sister approaches with her boyfriend.
"Well at least I didn't cause it," she says smiling before hugging me. "Glad you're happy sis!"
I nod and smile at her just as Jake approaches and we hug like brother and sister.
"Elena Cullen," he says looking deep in thought. "Not bad!"
I laugh and so does Bella and Edward. "Thanks Jake... you never know... you two might be next. Bella Black... also not that bad."

Emmett is the first that is going to make an announcement. I am sat with both my parents, Phil, my stepdad and Carlisle and Esme. Edward and I are in the middle with his parents on his side and mine on my side.
"Excuse me, is this on? Hello?" he says checking the mic and he smiles when he figures out it is working as people notice him and someone wolf whistles. "Um, I'd like to propose a toast. To my new sister. Elena, I hope you've gotten enough sleep these last 18 years, because you won't be getting anymore for a while."
He chuckles as it goes silent. Clearly people are taking that in the rude way. Trust Emmett. Charlie takes a sip of his drink to hide his embarrassment. I try not to blush.
Jessica Stanley goes next. "Well Elena was just like everybody else, totally memorized by Edward. Or 'The hair' as I call him," she says and I glance at Edward and bite my lip as I try not to laugh. "And then, suddenly Edward is all about Elena. Even though she's not the captain of the volleyball team. I'm just kidding. I'm just kidding. Or president of the student council."
"I know Edward will be a good husband," Charlie says as it's his turn. "I know this because I'm a cop, I know things," I chuckle at the implication and so does a lot of other people. Bella is holding her hand to her mouth from the table next to ours as she fights no to laugh. "Like how to hunt somebody to the ends of the Earth! And I know how to use a gun!"
Alice is her usual self talking about clothes. "Now that you're my sister, you'll have to get over your aversion to fashion. Skirts, heels, handbags!"
"Does she know you at all?" Bella asks making Edward and I chuckle.
"Go to sleep my love," Mum sings as she is quite drunk and Edward and I laugh and once again so do all our guests except Charlie and Phil who look uncomfortable. "Go to sleep. When you'll wake, you'll see me."
Bella takes her turn. "It's hard to watch as your twin finds her new partner, the person she wants to spend the rest of her life with now... but Elena I promise you I will always be there for you. Be your sister, your friend, your confidant. Edward you hurt my sister and our father and his gun'll be the least of your worries. I got big friends in high places."
I smile up at her as I fight back tears again.
"I'd like to thank Renee and Charlie," Esme begins with a smile as she has her arms in front of her and looks so lovely. "For bringing such a wonderful person into the world and into our lives. We will cherish and protect her forever."
Now it's my husbands turn and his speech has to be what nearly sets me off crying.
"It's an extraordinary thing to meet someone who you can bare your soul to," he tells us never taking his eyes off of me and he still has not stopped smiling. "And who will accept you for what you are. I've been waiting what seems like a very long time, to get beyond what I am. And with Elena, I feel like I can finally begin. So I'd like to propose a toast... to my beautiful bride. No measure of time will be long enough. But let's start with forever."
I feel my eyes begin to moisten. That was the most beautiful speech I have ever heard in my life.
Everyone drinks to that.

Later on I am dancing with Edward. Then Jake and Bella come over.
"Nope!" Bella says and she pulls Edward away from me. "My turn to dance with my new brother-in-law... I got to get used to him being around."
I smile as Edward gets dragged away. Jake then turns to me, bows and holds out his hand. "May I have this dance?"
I smile and take his hand. We begin to dance slowly.
"Did I mention you look lovely?" He asks me and I shake my head. "Well you do."
I smile. "Thanks Jake. You look very handsome!"
He glances at where Bella and Edward are dancing.
"As long as you're happy that's all that matters," he says. "But do know you don't need to become a vamp to be happy. Bella and I are from two different worlds but we came together.... and that's all i'm saying and I ask you to think about it!"
I nod to let him know I will.
Edward suddenly approaches after the dance finishes and gives a meaningful look to Jacob. "Another one of her presents just arrived!"
Jacob smiles before letting me go and taking Bella's hand, who was also approaching and they head back towards the dance floor.

I follow Edward to the edge of the woods, confused as to why we are coming this way. What gift would be out here?
"What's a wedding present doing out here?" I ask him.
He speaks with a smile on his face. "Just a little more private!"
I am confused till someone steps out of the darkness, who I recognise, and he speaks. "The best man didn't have time to get a tux!"
It's Damon. "Damon!" I gasp before glancing at my smiling husband, then I run towards Damon. "Damon!"
He catches me as I hug him. We both laugh.
"Hey!" I say to him laughing.
"Hey Elena!" He says as he puts me down.
"Hey!" I repeat as Edward approaches.
"This is kind of you!" Edward tells him.
"Kind is my middle name," Damon tells him politely as he keeps his eyes on me and smiling.
I turn back to glance at Edward who smiles at me. "I'll see if Rosalie wants to dance."
I know he did this to give us some time alone and I love him even more for this. He goes off and I turn back to Damon who is still smiling at me.
"I'm sorry I'm late," Damon tells me and I can tell he genuinely means that.
"Doesn't matter," I tell him knowing that him making makes this the best day for me. "Everything's perfect now."
He rolls his eyes at my tone. He seems to hesitate before speaking. "Will you dance with me?"
I nod and place my hand on his shoulder I dance with him but keep our boundaries by not hugging into him or anything. He does spin me around a little, which makes me laugh but he respects the boundaries I've clearly set.
I then laugh as we begin to dance to the music that is going off on the dancefloor but we can both hear. I decide to ask him the question I've been wondering for weeks.
"Where've you been?" I ask him. "We were gonna put your face on a milk carton!"
"Mostly Northern Canada," he tells me as we continue to dance. "I think. It's weird to be back on two legs again, in clothes. Gotten out of practise with the whole human thing."
"Are you okay?" I ask as I look straight into his eyes to ensure he is not lying. "Being here?"
He smiles down at me. "Why? Afraid I'll trash your party?" He looks into the woods and he does not look particularly happy, but I stare at him in a serious tone. "You're not the only one!" He smirks and nods. "You'd thing I'd be used to telling you goodbye by now." As he says this I begin to let the tears lose and he notices as I nod. "Come on, you're not supposed to be the one crying Elena."
"Everyone cries at weddings," I point out to him.
"This is how I'm gonna remember you," he informs me. "Pink cheeks. Two left feet!" He spins me around and clarify's his point when I nearly fall. "Heartbeat."
"Cause what soon I'm gonna be dead to you?" I ask stopping the dance as I am trying not to show him how much his words hurt.
"No!" He tells me gently and now he feels guilty and we begin to dance again, as he can see how much he is upsetting me. He shakes his head and looks down at me. "I'm sorry. I'm just trying to appreciate your last night as a human."
What makes him say that? "Well it's not my last night."
"I thought you..." he begins slowly.
"Didn't really wanna spend my honeymoon writhing in pain," I explain gently.
"What's the point?" He asks and this subject is really beginning to annoy me. "It's not like you're gonna have a real honeymoon with him, anyway."
"It's gonna be as real as anybody else's!" I say without thinking.
"That's a sick joke," he says and I stare at him in confusion. "You are joking?" I shake my head in confusion. "What while you're still human? You can't be serious Elena. Tell me you're not that stupid!"
Oh! He means I should not do... that while I am still human. Who died and made him chief.
"I mean it's really none of your business," I tell him shaking my head as I lose my temper.
He grips me by the arms and he actually begins to hurt me. "No! You can't do this!"
"'D'," I say as his grip tightens.
"No listen to me Elena," he says gripping harder.
I gasp and the forcefield pops out and knocks him away from me. "Don't ever do that again!"
Edward is suddenly at my side.
"Damon, calm down all right?" He says as he tries to defuse the situation.
"Are you out of your mind, huh?" He says ready to attack Edward. I really need to learn to control my forcefield thing. "You'll kill her!"
"DAMON!" Jacob says as he and Seth appear and Jacob grabs him from behind and Seth tries to push him back. "Stop! Walk away before you do something you'll regret!"
Damon elbows Jake and as he grunts he shoves him to the ground, then he pushes Seth aside who also falls and begins to come at us. Automatically I reach out and next thing I know he hits the forcefield which gives Embry and Quil enough time to grab him.
He fights and I feel my forcefield drop just as Sam appears and says to Damon. "Enough Damon!"
Damon tries to fight off the Alpha's orders he shakes his head. "Stay out of this Sam! I just don't want her getting hurt!"
"You're not gonna start something that we'll have to finish," Sam informs him.
Edward hugs me to his side.
"She'll die," Damon points out to him.
"She's not our concern anymore," Sam points out and I know he is being sincere its just he is right. Damon glances at me before racing off, after smashing into Sam. Embry and Quil soon follow. Sam growls a little before turning to the two remaining wolves. "Jacob we'll follow him. Seth let's go!"
Sam takes off and after a second of glancing at Edward. Jake and I, Seth follows.
Bella, who was watching from not far away comes over and pulls me in for a hug. "You know that power of yours comes in handy!"
I smile and wipe my eyes. "If only I could control it! I didn't mean to knock him away from me. I'm really, really stupid!"
"HEY!" Bella yells. "Don't blame yourself. When he said he was coming he said he'd control himself."
"She's right," Edward says giving her a sympathetic smile. "It's all right! Come on, people are probably missing us, let's go back!"
I nod and he kisses me on the head.

Later on I am in a new dress and Edward and I are about to go on our honeymoon. We run out the door as people throw rice at us. As we come towards my mum I hug her. She has tears in her eyes. Edward leaves us to talk.
"So he really won't tell you where he's taking you?" She asks me in disbelief.
One thing about the wedding and after I do not know about and could kill my now husband if he does not tell me. "No, it's a surprise."
She laughs at that but I am still annoyed even if I laugh with her. She takes a bit of leaf out of my hair and we both laugh again.
"Well, wear a hat," she says as she tries not to cry. "Sunscreen. Take care of yourself."
"I will," I nod.
"Okay," she says before pulling me in for a hug and I squeeze her back tight. "I love you Elena."
"I love you," I tell her. It hurts that this is the last time I will see her.
"So much," she continues and we pull away with her smiling at me.
"Thank you," I tell her and she chuckles.
I see Alice stood behind her and we both look at her, "Everything's packed and ready to go."
"Cool," I say nodding but as she walks away I see Charlie stood not far away looking upset. "I'm gonna go see him!"
"Yeah," mum agrees and I go around her to where my father is stood.
He gives me a look and I stop right in front of him.
"Dad," I say gently shoving him when I see he has tears in his eyes and we both chuckle quietly.
"Well...," he begins slowly and I chuckle again. "It's gonna be strange, both of you girls not living under my roof. Just one of you."
I nod as I realise that he has a point. "Yeah. It's gonna be strange to me too," I point out to him.
He nods and looks down before back at me.
"You know this will always be your home right?" he informs me.
I nod as I feel my own tears once again today threatening to fall. "I love you, dad. Forever."
I move forwards and hug him.
"I love you too El'." he says as he keeps his arms wrapped around me. "I always have and always will. Just like with your twin," we are silent for a few more minutes before he begins to speak and I move back so I can look at him. "All right. Go on. There's one more person who wants to say goodbye and you don't want to miss your plane... wherever it's going."
I laugh. "Okay. Bye."
Then I going in search of.... there she is.
When Bella sees me she comes running over and we both hug. It is so hard but I knew it would be the hardest goodbye for me.
"Do me one favour," she says and I nod. "Always keep in touch... even when."
I pull back. "I will never stop talking to you... and I will remember you.... always and forever!"
She nods and we hug one last time.
"Now," I say and I pull back again. "Ring me as soon as you know what's wrong with you... promise."
"Shouldn't I just tell you when you come back?" She asks and I narrow my eyes in warning. "Okay, as soon as I have the appointment and get the verdict."
I nod before I head for Edward's car and climb in.
I put my seatbelt on. I m still reeling from the goodbyes. Especially to Bella, who knows if she'll want to see me after my transformation.
"You ready?" Edward asks from the drivers seat and I nod.
As we begin to drive off, everyone cheers, both of our families wave at us and I feel happy in one way. Jasper gives Edward a meaningful look and it reminds me of one of the terms of our agreement.
"Yeah I'm ready," I finally say and he chuckles.
As we drive off I am a little upset as I hear a wolf howl that is full of despair.
