Y/n felt like she had been living in the quaint little town of Snowdin forever, although it'd only been a few days. Her new friends, Sans and Papyrus, helped her get situated by setting her up at the local inn. She had stayed there for the past several nights and it was actually a welcome change compared to her old life on the surface.
It was nice to not have to share a room with someone, and even nicer to not have classes to attend, friends to visit and socialize with, and family to keep up with. Although she did miss her family sometimes, and her friends, she tried to not let the thoughts get to her to much as she tried to adjust to life in Snowdin.
Y/n climbed out of bed on the fourth morning in Snowdin and pulled on a sweater and jeans and hurried to her room door. She opened it and was met with an orange hoodie in her face. She jumped back in surprise but smiled broadly when she recognized her friend.
"Good morning Papyrus," she said happily. "Why're you here? You usually meet me outside for our outings." Papyrus stepped out of the doorway and started to walk down the hall, motioning for her to follow. He never did like answering questions right then and there, he took time to think about them.
"I've already shown you around all of Snowdin," Papyrus said, stuffing his hands in his pockets as they walked down the creaky wooden stairs to the lobby of the inn. "I mean, not all of it. I thought I'd save the best part for last. C'mon, let's go get some breakfast." Papyrus pushed open the door and held it for Y/n walk through, she said a quick "thank you" and walked outside. The two were met with a whirlwind of snow and cold as they left the toasty inn. Y/n wrapped the scarf she managed to grab on her way out around her neck and shoved her hat on her head.
"Where are we going, Pap?" Y/n asked, stuffing her hands in her pockets, and looking up at the tall skeleton, confused why he wasn't saying much. He usually wasn't this quiet.
"We're goin' to a place called 'Muffet's,'" Papyrus replied simply, gesturing in front of himself. "It's the best bakery in the Underground if you ask me (although I suppose it's the only bakery in the Underground)." The girl's face lit up in excitement; she loved sweets. She amused herself with the thought that she never asked about an eatery. Especially since Papyrus or Sans had brought her donuts and cinnamon rolls and other foods for the past several days to eat. These thoughts reminded her of something.
"Oh! I've been meaning to ask how Sans is doing," Y/n said. Papyrus glanced down at her and smiled. "I haven't seen him in a little bit. Do you think he's mad I solved all his 'riddle traps' so easily-?"
"No, he's not mad, don't worry," he interrupted. The two came to a stop in front of a large restaurant looking building with "Muffet's" in giant purple letters running across the top of the building. "Sans is at Alphys' house training. And this here is where we're headed."
Papyrus opened the door for her and led her in. I wish every guy were this polite geez, Y/n thought to herself.
Papyrus was greeted by several monsters; some looked like fluffy white dogs, others looked like plant monsters, and still others looked like various other animals. The room was cheery...if not creepy. Cobwebs decorated the corners of the shop and spiders were everywhere, some even serving the customers their meals. Tables and chairs and booths were situated everywhere, all a dark mahogany wood. At the far end of the one roomed building was a long "L" shaped counter with a glass case. Papyrus and Y/n walked up to it; the girl noticed many assorted sweets and baked goods in the display case.
Papyrus glanced at Y/n, his famous lazy grin plastered to his face. She looked at him, a little confused as to why he was smiling at her. The tall skeleton motioned for her to sit on one of the stools in front of the corner. She did as she was instructed, and he sat next to her and reached for a nearby silver bell resting on the mahogany counter. He clicked it and it rang throughout the room. In mere seconds, the doors to what Y/n thought were the kitchens flew open and a person came skating out. Yes, skating. She looked like a spider, six arms and eight eyes, a pair of half-moon spectacles resting on her small nose. She had a small horn on the right side of her hairline, her hair was short and black and had two small pigtails on either side of her head. Her skin was purple, and she wore a complimentary colored suit.
"G'morning Muffet," Papyrus said, waving her over to their spot. She spotted him and smiled, whizzing over to them, and leaning on the counter.
"Good morning dearie, how may I help you?" Muffet said, her voice calm and flirty sounding. "Oh, I see you've brought a friend!" Muffet smiled at the girl as she pulled out a notepad from one of her many pockets.
"O-oh yeah. My name's Y/n." Darn stutter, geez. I need to get out more. "It's nice to meet you, Miss Muffet."
Papyrus noticed his friend was uncomfortable and motioned for Muffet to stop staring at the human and turn to him. "She's new here," he whispered. "Please be nice, and don't offer her spiders." Muffet nodded slowly, then smiled.
"Understood," she whispered back. She turned to the human again and held her notepad ready. "Alright sweetie, what can I get you for breakfast?" She tried to sound as sweet as she could, but still managed to make Y/n stutter. She tried several times to get the words out but ended up sitting there uncomfortably.
"We'll just have some pancakes, Muffet," Papyrus interjected. Saved by the master, thank you universe. Muffet nodded with a grin and excused herself. When she had left, Y/n put her head down in shame. Papyrus started to snicker, pulling out a cigarette from his pocket. "Wow, I didn't think it'd be that bad," he said, lighting it and putting it in between his teeth.
"You didn't even let me talk!" Y/n shot back, irritated. "I-I could've ordered on my own. Without your help!"
"Sure, sure," he said, waving her off. "And I'll bet you would've done it with the same confidence as you had when telling Sans no to some sweets he brought for you." Y/n rolled her eyes and rested her chin on her crossed arms again.
They sat in silence for a while until Muffet reappeared with two plates stacked with pancakes. "There you are," she said, sliding each plate in front of them, handing Papyrus a bottle of honey. "Here's your topping...it's the only one you ever use after all. And I held off on the spiders this time, enjoy the breakfast dearies! Oh and Papyrus," she lowered her voice dangerously, "Pay. Your. Darn. Tab. Or I will feed you to my pet."
She smiled at them and winked at Y/n, skating off to meet a customer at another table. The girl looked confused and turned to see Papyrus drenching his pancakes in honey. He pulled the cigarette from his mouth and tossed it into the trash, taking the honey bottle in his hand then pouring it into his mouth. He's a freaking skeleton, where does it go?!
"Uh, Paps? What did she mean when she mentioned spiders?" Y/n asked, taking a bite of her pancake. They were so soft and fluffy, and tasted like there were chocolate chips on the inside.
"Oh, she usually puts spiders in her dishes," he replied simply.
"Wait but isn't she- "
"A spider monster?" he continued. "Yeah. Just don't think about it to much, alright kiddo?" Y/n pushed the thought out of her head and continued eating in delight, swinging her legs on the stool childishly, remembering all the times she had sat on a stool eating pancakes as a kid...

"Human! Over here!" Sans called, waving for Y/n to come to his side of the field. The grass was such a dark blue it almost looked black. The echo flowers were strewn about it randomly, creating a beautiful effect. The three friends were in Waterfall, one of the most magical places in the whole Underground.
"I'll be there in a second, Sans!" she shouted back. Her response was repeated by the echo flowers all the way down to the brothers. Sans shouted an "ok" and returned to what he was doing with Papyrus. Y/n received the message and got up, walking towards them when suddenly, she felt a tugging on her foot. She looked down to see a green vine wrapped around her ankle, tightening around her sweat-pant leg. She started to shake a little and followed it down the hill.
At the foot of the hill, she saw a yellow flower spring from the dark dirt. The girl looked back to see Sans fussing at his brother, most likely he told another bad pun. She fought internally with herself for a minute before making her way down to the flower to see what he wanted.
"Golly, it's only been a few weeks and you've already managed to make friends with the most popular residents in Snowdin!" Flowey said happily, uncoiling his vine from her ankle. "How's it going? It's been a while since we last talked, friend."
"Yeah, it has been a while huh?" Y/n said, settling onto the dirt casually, siting cross legged. "Things have been pretty great on my end actually. Papyrus is super nice, and he's a goofball. He and Sans get along very well, it's nice to watch (unless Paps makes a pun, then it's chaos). Sans is awesome, he's super sweet, even if he tries to come off as tough. The first time we met officially he kept going on about how he'd capture me through his brilliant "riddle trap" techniques. When I passed them all he got kinda down though. I offered to be his friend and he jumped at the idea. We've been on good terms since, though he says that one day he wants to battle me to see how strong humans really are compared to monsters." She let out a little laugh, hoping she'd never have to fight someone... and definitely never have to fight a friend.
"Sounds nice," Flowey commented. "So... you care about them?"
"Of course I do!" Y/n exclaimed, a little too quickly. Flowey's expression was unreadable.
"Do you know anything about the Royal Guard?" Flowey asked.
That's random...
"I know they're searching for human souls. They work for the Queen, Toriel," she replied. "I think that's it."
"Hm, you got it mostly right," Flowey said. "They also don't take treason to well."
"What do you mean by that...?"
"I mean, you're a human right? And the Royal Guard is hunting for humans! If they found you hiding with the two skeletons they'd take you away and possibly... hurt them." He paused to let his words hang in the air. The thought had never occurred to the girl until now. "The punishment for treason on this scale would be death, I think. Holding the one thing that could free the entire Underground from captivity."
"But Asgore said my soul wouldn't work because I'm- I'm an adult," Y/n said, stuttering at the violent thoughts that raced through her mind at the small conclusion. That... children... had been killed for their souls. "The Queen and the Royal Guard wouldn't have any use for me."
"A human soul is a human soul, Y/n," Flowey said in a kind of sing-song voice. "If they found you, they'd kill you and Papyrus and Sans without another thought. After all, in this world, it's kill or be killed."
She let his words and phrase sink in. Asgore had lied to her before, about the basement, it was entirely possible he had lied to her about this to give her a false sense of safety. Perhaps she and the skeleton brothers were in danger. What could she do about it? She could run away and live on her own. No, that'd be pretty selfish. But staying with them was equally selfish. She let out a heavy sigh, bringing her head up from its previously hung position.
"What should I do about it then? What do I do now?"
Flowey's vine wrapped around her torso, moving her body by force to stand up. "Meet me here later tonight and I'll give you some advice," he said, a pleasant smile still on his face. "But don't tell them about it ok? It's supposed to be a secret!" Y/n nodded. Flowey said a quick "good-bye!" and burrowed back into the earth.
"HUMAN!" The girl stumbled forward as she felt someone tackle her from behind. "Where were you?! You didn't come when I called you! What gives?" Sans exclaimed. Y/n laughed and hoisted him up, holding onto his legs and walked up the hill piggy-back-style.
"I was looking around and found another echo flower is all," Y/n replied with a smile. Sans looked at her perplexed. "It was a really interesting conversation." She gave him a reassuring smile. He smiled back and tightened his grip around her neck.
"Whatever you say, I trust you. But you owe me a bedtime story when we get home!" Sans exclaimed happily.
"Why? What'd I do wrong this time?"
"You made me wait of course! And you didn't eat my tacos today, you usually always eat them," Sans said, as if it was the most obvious thing in the world. "And now you owe me one bedtime story."
The two had reached the top of the hill. Y/n abruptly let go of him, which was a bad idea. Sans didn't let go of her neck in time and ended up pulling her down with him. Y/n landed on his front. "Gah! Human! Get off me! I can't breathe!"
"You don't have lungs you idiot!" Y/n snapped, rolling off him anyway, giggling at the situation she had created. "Pff- sorry Sansy. I didn't mean to fall on top of you. (also, I have a name ya know)."
"Ugh don't call me that!" Sans snapped, rolling onto his side so they were face to face now. "I'm an adult, and as such I have no need for such childish nicknames." Y/n snorted, then burst into a fit of laughter. Sans tried to stop himself but ended up laughing alongside her.
Papyrus walked over to the two and looked down at them lying side by side in the grass. "You two are such goofballs," he commented, shaking his head and smiling. He used his magic to lift Sans from the ground and put him on his feet. Y/n soon got up and brushed herself off, not wanting Papyrus to use his magic on her. "Alright, if you two are done rolling in the grass and flirting, let's get on home. I'm bone tired..." Papyrus yawned and started walking down the hill.
"W-we're not flirting Papy!" Sans exclaimed, his skull flushing as blue as his eyes in embarrassment. Y/n found herself flustered as well and simply walked after the other brother.
That idiot. Pff. I know better than to flirt with his brother; I know he'd kill me if I did.

I hope this was ok :)
It's more of a filler I know, but I wanted to get more acquainted with the world (and for those of you reading who've never played this game).
