"It was him. He looked right at me like he didn't even know me." Steve wallows in the back of the truck, sitting next to you as you stared across at Sam who began to grow uncomfortable under you gaze. You hadn't realized that you were staring at him as everything around you faded out while your thoughts and memory's took over.
"How's that even possible? It was like seventy years ago." Sam reasons, shifting slightly.
"Zola. Bucky's whole unit was captured in '43, Zola experimented on him. Whatever he did helped Bucky survive the fall. They must have found him and..." Steve starts as you continue to sit in silence.
"None of that's your fault, Steve." Natasha cut in.
"Even when I had nothing, I had Bucky and y/n" he looks to you, still staring blankly at Sam who sits across from you. Sam looks over at Natasha to notice the blood dripping from her shoulder.
"We need to get a doctor here. We don't put pressure on that wound she's gonna bleed out here in the truck." Sam argues to the two guards next to you. Suddenly one of the guards pulls out their electric rod making you all flinch but before they can do anything to you they zap the guard next to them and kick them twice, knocking them out.
"Ah. That thing was squeezing my brain." Agent Hill sighed, pulling off the helmet that shielded her face. "Who's this guy?" She questions Steve about Sam.
"He's with us"
"Well then, let's go shall we?" Hill pulls out a device and starts to cut a hole in the bottom of the truck. You each sneak out before stealing a van and driving to a secret base of some sort. You exit the van and enter the base inside of a dam.
"GSW. She's lost at least a pint." Hill informs the doctor rushing towards you all.
"Maybe two!" Sam calls out.
"Let me take her."
"She'll want to see him first." Hill brought you all to a room where you found Fury laying on a bed hooked up to some machines but clearly breathing and alive.
"About damn time." He comments upon your arrival.
"Lacerated spinal column, cracked sternum, shattered collarbone, perforated liver, one hell of a headache." Fury lists off as Natashas wound is being treated and you all sit around him.
"Don't forget your collapsed lung." Doctor adds.
"Oh, let's not forget that. Otherwise, I'm good."
"They cut you open, your heart stopped." Natasha tells him.
"Tetrodotoxin B. Slows the pulse to one beat a minute. Banner developed it for stress. Didn't work so great for him, but we found a use for it."
"Why all the secrecy? Why not just tell us?" Steve angered.
"Any attempt on the director's life had to look successful." Hill answered for him.
"Can't kill you if you're already dead. Besides, I wasn't sure who to trust." Nick stepped in.
You sat on a stool, still staring off into nothing blankly.

Bucky sat on a chair while hydra agents fixed his arm after the damage it took in the fight today.
"Sergeant Barnes..." he hears Zola's voice in a flashback.
"Bucky, no!" Steve calls as Bucky falls to his 'death'. He remembered your face filled with tear as he screamed out.
"No!" Your voice screamed out through his head.
"The procedure has already started." Zola's voice sounds through his head again as his arm is being fully cut off and replaced.
"You are to be the new fist of HYDRA." Zola smiles after Bucky had killed a man with the metal arm.
"Put him on ice." His body was frozen over in a chamber like your once was.
Back in the present day he shoves back the agent working on his arm and the guards around him point their guns.
"Sir, he's-he's unstable. Erratic." A scientist tells Pierce as he visits the winter soldier in the locked up and secured room of a bank safe. He signals the men to stand down as he enters and approaches the soldier.
"Mission report." He orders but the brunette only stares blankly.
"Mission report, now." He orders again, growing impatient. He steps forward after another moment of silence from the soldier and slaps him to gain his attention.
"The man and woman on the bridge..." Bucky starts, remembering your faces as he looks to his controller. "Who were they?"
"You met him earlier this week on another assignment." Pierce tried to convince him.
"I knew them."
"Your work has been a gift to mankind. You shaped the century, and I need you to do it one more time. Society is at a tipping point between order and chaos. Tomorrow morning we're gonna give it a push. But, if you don't do your part, I can't do mine, and HYDRA can't give the world the freedom it deserves." Pierce said as he took a seat in front of the distraught man.
"But I knew them." Pierce turns to a scientist at these words while Bucky continues to protest.
"Prep him."
"He's been out of cryo-freeze too long."
"Then wipe him and start over." He orders as the scientists strap him to the chair and give him a mouth guard. The machine moves around his head and zaps him as he screams out in pain once more.

Question of the day: what do you think was going through y/n head?
Can we just appreciate how sad it is that Hydra treated Bucky that way. And wow he looks so good (Sebastian Stan, man your looking good)
One last thing before I leave you to read the next chapter is just a simple reminder to comment. If you comment I will be more inclined to check out your own account (story's and reading lists) as well as respond to your comments. I love hearing what my readers have to say about the story and I love to know that they are engaged in my book.
