Donghyuck was a sucker and he knew it.
Renjun had been his best friend since childhood, their relationship dwindling here and there as they grew up, but they always found their way back to each other. The last days of the joyful school year, hot summer days riding their bikes until the streetlights turned on, sticky popsicles from the ice cream truck, and of course, all the dirt and mess they found themselves in. Summers were always filled with Renjun. Then, as they grew older, Jaemin came into the mix. Summer night pool parties of just the three, sneaking out of the house when they were strictly forbidden, and sleepovers where they watched their first few horror movies.
Donghyuck huffed, his hands laid on his forehead. He knew he had to get of bed and start his day, he'd be late if not. Summer was so close, it was basically calling for him. He just had to make it the few weeks until finals, and then he'd be done. Graduation was just three and a half weeks away. The half made a difference.
He and Jaemin had discussed it before, the worry for summer. It was going to be different, besides from the fact that it was their last summer before their adult lives began, but for the fact that it would be their first without Renjun here with them. He wasn't far away, just a few quick name calls out loud and he'd be in the same room, but it wasn't the same. We couldn't relax by the pool together, or go out to eat in front of others. They couldn't risk someone recognizing the dead boy in public. All the amazing things they had the privilege of doing in the past was gone.
Donghyuck pulled himself up into a sitting position, looking around his messy room, before standing and getting ready for his day. Renjun didn't leave his mind though. A few minutes couldn't hurt, right?
"Renjun. I need you here right now." He spoke, walking over to his closet to get his outfit ready. He looked around for a few seconds, nothing in his closet standing out to him immediately, "Renjun. Renjun. Renjun. Wake up."
Just a moment later, while putting on his jeans for the day, the requested demon spawned into the room, slowly appearing before the human. Before he could finish spawning he began his attack.
"What the hell do you want?" His eyes were bright red, his hair a mess. Donghyuck didn't mind, he can sleep in his big, lush bed forever if he wanted to, a few minutes won't kill him.
Donghyuck stood from his bed, bending down to straighten his pant legs, "I just missed you. Where's Jeno?" Renjun shrugged. "I thought you guys wouldn't come here alone anymore, after the incident?"
Renjun rolled his eyes, "You interrupted us." He walked over to the boy's bed, before throwing himself down on his back. Donghyuck stood, wide eyed as he watched the demon.
"Oh, god.. I thought your hair was a mess from.. from sleepi-" Donghyuck didn't finish his sentence. And neither did Renjun. Renjun simply smiled, he looked nearly evil with his glowing, red eyes.
"You should know by now, the redder my eyes are I'm either angry or horny." A smirk on his lips, before crossing his arms behind his head, Renjun chuckled.
Donghyuck fake gagged, grabbing a plain white shirt to wear, before pulling it on, "I regret it."
Renjun sat up quickly, "You regret it? Shall I be on my way then?" His eyes glimmered with hope for a moment. Donghyuck pushed him by his chest as a way to shut him up, him leaning back into the position he was previously. Renjun laughed.
"How much longer of school is there?" Renjun asked while watching Donghyuck pull out a pair of socks and his shoes. He sat on the edge of the bed by Renjun.
The mortal sighed, "A few more weeks. I've got one week till finals begin." Renjun merely hummed, nodding his head in acknowledgement. He wouldn't say it to him, but he was so glad he wouldn't have to be in classes for the next few weeks like his other two friends.
Donghyuck read his mind though, sliding his shoes on before turning to look at the red eyed Renjun, "Bet you're glad you never have to see the inside of a classroom ever again. Lucky."
The two laughed for a moment, Renjun didn't deny it, "I have been studying Latin in the library of the palace recently, though." Donghyuck snorted. "What? You don't believe me?" Renjun had the largest smile plastered on his face.
Donghyuck shook his head, "I believe it, I just can't believe your Latin could improve much." He laughed for a second while Renjun rolled his eyes.
"Not funny." He joined in on the contagious laughter for a minute, before speaking up again, "I'll just prove it to you next time you come down there. Anyways, when do you need to leave? Have you eaten yet?" Renjun knew Donghyuck, if he didn't eat, he'd be a cranky mess while in class.
Donghyuck sighed, the fun taken away as soon as Renjun brought up school, "I should probably head out soon, and no." Renjun tisked at him. Donghyuck nodded, he knew what Renjun referred to, "I'll eat before I leave, but that means you've gotta go back now."
Renjun sat up immediately, his face lighting up, "No problem! You have a great day at schoo-" He stood from the bed before being yanked back down by his arm, being forced to sit beside Donghyuck again.
Donghyuck looked Renjun in the face, a smirk growing on his face, "What's the rush, demon friend? Got something waiting for you back in Hell?" Renjun chuckled nonchalantly, pulling his arm out of the mortal's grip.
"What are you talking about? I left Jeno and he was just relaxing in bed. He's probably asleep by now." Renjun knew his explanation wasn't good enough, Donghyuck's eyes slowly squinting more and more at him, "Also, it's terribly cold here."
Donghyuck hummed a sarcastic 'Mmhm' before standing from the bed first, grabbing his book bag, "Well get going then, before you freeze, of course." Donghyuck winked at the boy still sat on the edge of his messy bed, before opening his bedroom door, leaving.
Renjun sighed in relief, immediately beginning his transfer back to Hell. Just one second in, he could already feel the warmth on his skin. He tried to rush it as Jeno does, but his skills were nowhere near as perfected. The scene transformed before him slowly, their shared bedroom coming into sight.
The full temperature hit Renjun's skin as he fully respawned, his vision no longer blurry. Jeno laid on the bed just as he had left him before he left. He had to remind himself how quickly time travels in Hell, it had probably seemed like just a few minutes to him. It showed.
Jeno laid with his hands handcuffed together, his fingers crossed in a neat pile on his bare, toned lower abdomen. The sight just below was just as Renjun had left it, the demon clearly just as turned on as he had been when the younger demon left him to suffer.
"You really are a demon, aren't you, Renjun?" His voice shook for a moment, his member twitching with need and his eyes desperately searching Renjun's.
Renjun strolled to the bed, amused at the sight, "Why do you get to call me Renjun, but I can't call you Jeno when we're like this, hm?" Jeno smirked at the words, Renjun using his own words against him.
Renjun knew he'd suffer the consequences for this later, but it was worth it in his book.
°°°
"You ready to start practicing out loud?" Jeno sat beside Renjun in the dark library, in the same spot on the rug they had been just the day before. Renjun had really been into reading lately, and studying Latin was no different.
Renjun snorted, his head still pointed at the book, not bothering to look to Jeno at his side, "Hell no."
Jeno turned back to his own book, not quite into it as Renjun was, but he didn't care. Wherever Renjun went, he followed. He'd never had a partner or friend his entire existence, he could barely even think about what he'd do to fill his time before. Now, he had nobody to see. Nothing to do, but to spend his time with Renjun. It was everything he could ask for. But wow, was it boring to read all day.
Jeno pushed Renjun by shoving his shoulder into his, watching how the younger sin barely reacted to his attics. Jeno then did it again, but harder. This time, Renjun's upper body moved from the impact, but just barely. And still no response.
Jeno sighed dramatically, "Junnie. Let's do something." Renjun looked up finally, his eyes a dark red and the fire glimmering in his eyes. He was so beautiful.
"Like what? Have sex? We just finished like, 30 minut-" Jeno threw himself at Renjun, forcing him to lay back on the carpet, with him on top.
"Let's take a nap."
Renjun groaned, smiling while he shoved the other off enough to sit back up. Jeno stayed laying flat on the now unoccupied rug, his cheek pressed to the ground.
"I hate to interrupt, love birds." Jeno sat up immediately at an inhuman speed, his head snapping to look at the extra person in the room. Renjun looked over too, both confused at the sight.
Mark stood by the double doors, with a stack of books in hand. He looked presentable as always, along with a soul stood at his side. The two walked into the room, passing the few large tables and making their way over.
"I figured you would like to read these books as a new Sin. They're basically rules and things were expected to live by. They're very old, nobody looks at them anymore. Thank me later." His voice was confident, as always as the deadly sin of Pride. He set the books down by Renjun, Jeno watching him with hawk-like eyes. Both Renjun and Jeno couldn't help but to notice the soul at his side, also dressed nicely. Although, man looked miserable.
Renjun bowed his head, "Thank you. They'll be great use." Mark stood staring down at the cross-legged boy, a smirk on his face for a moment.
"Don't mention it."
