Sorry for not updating i've been taking a workshop for school and have been working outside helping my parents get are farm ready, but here's two chapters.
I when I woke up I got dressed and went to the main room and Alex was sitting on the couch next to Sam, Jade and a couple of other girls I’d never seen before.
“Hey Rose.” He said from the couch smiling.
“Hey, I have to go to check in.”
“Okay, I’ll stay here and we can hang out when you get back.” When I got to the school there was no line. ‘Weird, I didn’t get up late’. I thought to myself. I walked in and went to my room and sat on the bed. An hour past and Gene didn’t come. I got up and walked around the school but I couldn’t find him. I went to the teachers’ lounge and opened the door a crack there were doctors their but I didn’t see Gene. But then one of them said something.
“Yeah I heard they took him away as soon as he got here this morning.”
“What did he do?”
“No one knows.” I ran I didn’t have time to think, I just ran home as fast as I could. When I got inside they all stared at me, except for Alex who was talking to Sam.
“Alex.” He looked at me, I tried to stay calm. He got up and walked over to me.
“I’ll see you guys later.” He told the people he was talking to. I grabbed his hand and pulled him to my room. “Is something wrong?”
“I think…”
“You think what?”
“I think they took Gene.”
“What?”
“I overheard some doctors talking about how they came and got someone when he got there this morning.”
“How do you know their talking about Gene?”
“Because, he didn’t show up to my check in,”
“Where did you overhear the doctors?”
“I went to the Teachers’ lounge to see if he was there and over heard them talking.”
“Why did you go to the teacher’s lounge?”
“I wanted to see if he was in there in case he fell asleep or something. I opened the door a crack to look in and didn’t see him in there.”
“Did you look in the rest of the school?”
“Yeah, he wasn’t there.”
“We should check my house, he might have gone home.” We left my house (which made all the girls that he was talking to pretty mad) and went to the school.
“What are we doing here?” I asked him.
“We need to go through a door.”
“Why?”
“We’ll have less of a change being noticed.”
“Okay.” We went through a back door and I followed him to his house. He opened the door and went in to Gene’s room while I waited in the kitchen. “Was he in there?”
“No, he’s not here.” He sat down at the table and put his face in his hands.
“Is there anywhere else he would go?” I said and sat down next to him.
“No, we don’t go anywhere else.” I pulled his hands away from his face and pulled him into a hug. “They took him.” He pulled away from me.
“Do you know where they took him?”
“Yeah, I might have an idea.”
“We can go get him we can bring him back.”
“What would we do with him when we got back. Hide him in your room.”
“What about here?”
“They’ll probably be watching here.”
“Wouldn’t they watch my house too?”
“Why would they be watching your house?”
“Red is probably the one who got him taken away.” He got up and went to the door. “Where are you going?”
“To see Red.” I went over to him and made him look at me.
“You get in a fight and one of the doctors or one of the other kids see you’ll get taken too.” I pulled him over to the couch then sat him down.
“Then what are we going to do?”
“You said that you had at idea where he could be?”
“Yeah?”
“How do we get there?”
“Even if you can get there without being caught, we don’t know exactly where he’s being held and what condition he’s in.”
“Then were going to need help,”
“Who’s going to help us?”
“I think I have an idea, but we have to go now.”
“Hold on I want to go grab some stuff.” He said as he got up. I fallowed him to his room; he grabbed a bag, went over to his dresser and started grabbing clothes.
“Ready?”
“Yeah.” We left but when we got to the bottom of the stairs there were two doctors. “Come over here.” He pulled my arm and we hid on the other side of the steps. The door opened and we hide until we heard a door open and then close. “Okay, go.” We ran back to the other side and slowed down when my house was in sight.
When we got inside there was no one in the living room.
“Who are you going to ask?”
“Sam.”
“Why Sam?”
“I don’t know, she was the first person that popped in my head.” I walked through the main room to the hallway on the other side. At the end of the hallway there were stairs we went up to the second floor.
“Where are we going?”
“Sam’s room, I thought it would be a good place to start looking for her.” I paused in front of a door I wasn’t completely sure was hers and knocked on it.
“Come in.” Said a voice on the other side. I opened the door and we went in. “Rose what’s up?”
“I wanted to see if you would help us.”
“Help with what?”
“My brother was taken by the doctors and we’re going to get him back.” Alex said and Sam got up and closed the door.
“What are you talking about?”
“My brother was taken by doctors.” He said again slowly.
“Okay I heard you the first time. I thought you were an only child.” Sam said as she sat on her bed.
“No, my brother is a doctor.”
“He was taken this morning.” I told her.
“Wait if you brother’s a doctor then how are you here?”
“When Gene‒” Alex started to say but Sam interrupted him.
“Wait your brother is Gene, the doctor guy that you were hanging out with?”
“Yes.” I told her.
“Okay you’re going to have to start spilling.” We told her about how Gene made the other doctors find Alex if he went with them. Then how I got assigned to him and how he found out that I had a son.
“That little kid you were always with was your son?”
“Yeah,” Then I continued on with how Red found out that are son was still here even after Gene tried to stop the doctor from telling him.
“So you had a kid with Red, and he didn’t know it?”
“No, he knew I was pregnant but he didn’t care.”
“I knew that guy was a jerk. Sorry continue.” I told her about the fight the other day, then how I went to Gene’s because I didn’t know what to do about Red and I needed someone to talk to; then I feel asleep on their couch and tried to sneak in a back door but walked into the teachers’ lounge and was caught.
“What happened, I mean you here now but how did you get away?” I told her my lie I had come up with that probably saved my life.
“Wait, so why did you come hang out with Rose?”
“That was my idea, see all the doctors are in their thirties and he would stay at home all day.” I told her.
“So you told Gene to have Alex come over here and pretend to be along lost friend?”
“No, I told Gene to have Alex hang out over her so he would at least be around people he own age, he came up with the lie all on his own.”
“So why did Gene get taken?”
“We think Red told one of the doctors something?”
“Why would he do that?”
“Because I called him an ass the other day,”
“Okay, but that’s no reason to get someone taken away.”
“I think he was jealous.” Alex said.
“Why would he be jealous?”
“He thought you were dating Gene, he messed up things with you and he didn’t want to see you with another guy.”
“Okay so why do you need my help?”
“You’re the only other person I really talk to and we need someone else if we’re going to do this.”
“Do you even know where he is?”
“I think I know, but we don’t know what kind of condition he’ll be in so we might need help.”
“How are we getting to this place?”
“We have to go back to the other side and there’s a building full of teleportation pods.” Sam and I just stared at him. “What?”
“They invented teleportation but we don’t have heat, TV, running water, or cars?” Sam asked.
“Everyone on the other side has running water.” I told her.
“Okay well if we get out of this alive I’m getting a shower.”
“How are we going to use the pods without being caught?”
“They don’t have anyone watching you, you just go in.”
“How are we going to blend in when we get there, all the doctors are guys.”
“There are girls on the other side.”
“Really, then why are all the doctors’ guys?”
“Women can’t be doctors.”
“I’m going to have to talk to whoever made up that rule.” Sam said.
“We can yell at them about sexism later, how about we go get Gene back before they kill him.” Sam stood up and started walking to the door but stopped and turned back to us.
“Wait, what are we going to do when we get him back?”
“We haven’t figured out that part yet.”
“How about we talk about on our way to the pods?” Alex said. We walked down the steps and to the end of the hallway. “Wait.” Sam and I stopped, but Alex kept walking. When he got to the end of the hallway he looked around the corner, then walked back to us. “Their here.”
“Who’s here?” Me and Sam asked at the same time.
“Them, the ones who took over.”
“Wait, they’re here? What are they?” I walked past Alex who grabbed my arm.
“They’re going to see you.” I shook him off and walked to the end of the hallway and looked around the corner. They were human. Alex grabbed my arm and pulled me back to them.
“What are they?” Sam asked.
“They look human.”
“Is there another way out of here?”
“Yeah follow me.” Sam said and led us back upstairs we went into a room and she opened a door that led to a metal stair case. She went down first and we followed trying to make the least amount of noise as possible. When we got to the bottom we were outside.
“Where are we going now?”
“Follow me.” Alex started running to the other side, there is no reason to try to sneak our way through, they knew what we were up to. We ran all the way to the pods. When we got inside the building there the pods were lined against the walls.
“How do the work?”
“You have to put in your destination.”
“Where are we going exactly?”
“If I’m right he’ll be at the main base.”
“And if you’re wrong?” Sam asked.
“Were definitely not getting out alive; get in a pod and put in Earth, then press the black button.”
“Wait but were on earth.”
“Just do it I’ll explain if we make it out alive.” We all got in are pods and typed in Earth. I hit the black button and everything went blurry and started moving, I felt nauseous and like I was floating. When my feet made contact with ground the door opened. I stepped out and the room was completely different, it was purple and green and had no other pods in it but mine. Something touched my shoulder and I screamed.
