Every firefighter at 51 sat in the conference room and Boden placed both of his hands on his hips as he and Voight stood in the room, looking at all the firefighters.
"Everyone listen up, we have some very bad news for you all this morning." Boden said and Voight looked around the room and spoke.
"At around 9:30 last night, Nadia Decotis and Logan went missing." Voight said and Dylan's heart dropped as she heard the news, confirming the feeling she had deep within her bones. Kelly looked up at Voight and spoke.
"This has to be a joke." He said and Boden shook his head.
"I'm afraid it's not." He said and Voight spoke.
"We have reason to believe that it was our serial rapist, Greg Yates. We don't know where he's taken them if he actually has them, but I do know that when I see him he's a dead man. If you guys have any information on Logan or Nadia's whereabouts, come to the 21st." Voight said and Boden gave him a curt nod, feeling sorry for the man whose daughter went missing. Voight walked out and Kelly looked at Boden.
"Chief, I-" He said and Boden looked around at everyone and he spoke.
"Our girl is strong, she's fine and she'll pull through. Nothing happened to them." Boden said and Kelly shook his head and Boden spoke.
"If any of you guys feel like you can't work today, please let me know." He said and Kelly watched as he walked away, his head down and Matt walked to him as everyone from Squad and Truck surrounded them.
"Guys-" Gabby said and Matt breathed in deep and spoke.
"She's going to pull through. She's fine guys." He said trying to be optimistic but Kelly's face showed nothing but worry and love.
"Kelly?" Matt asked and Kelly breathed in, shaking his head and looked at Matt.
"I-I can't work until I know she's okay." He said and Dylan nodded and tears fell down her face.
"She was just fine! I just texted her." Dylan said and Kelly looked to Matt and spoke.
"I- Matt, I gotta go." He said and Matt nodded and spoke.
"I'll tell Boden." He said and watched as the two ran away and Matt decided to stay to help support his firefighters who were close to the young woman as well.
Logan looked up at the starry night as her body was cold. The stars twinkled as they shone bright into the night. She looked over to her left and saw Nadia, who was laying on her back, crying. Logan looked at Nadia and furrowed her eyebrows inwards as she spoke.
"Nadia." She said, her voice hoarse and Nadia looked over at her and Logan could see as Greg pulled down her pants. Logan began to look away and Greg yelled.
"Look you bitch!" He yelled and took the crowbar to Logan's leg, making her scream out in pain. Watching the scene unfold Logan's eyesight was blurred by tears and after Greg was finished he took his crowbar and brought it down onto Nadia's head, hitting her repeatedly as her blood spattered all over Logan's face and torso . Logan yelled out and Greg rushed to her and pulled her pants down and Logan screamed trying to get out from under him. As he was finished, he grabbed his crowbar and began hitting Logan all over her body, knocking her unconscious, as she bled out from her wounds.
Logan couldn't remember much from her time spent on the island but she could remember the pain. The pain that came from every aspect of her body including her genitals, indicating that her worse fear had come true. She tried to do something, anything, to show someone that she had been there and was alive, but she tried not to, holding Nadia's cold hand. She knew she was dead, but denial had set in, then blame as Logan felt like she was supposed to protect her.
As night blurred into morning, Logan could barley keep her eyes open as she tried to get up to move or do something, but she couldn't leave Nadia, not when she was the last person she had seen. Logan decided that if she was going to die, she'd want it to be next to Nadia, the one person who honestly believed in Logan and looked up to her.
Each of the Intelligence members couldn't explain the feeling they had felt stepping on that island and seeing the numbers of bodies that littered the place. Adam of course and Hank just knew Logan would be there, the real question was; Was she dead or alive?
Voight and each of his members looked around the place, picking up tarp and bodies to see if Nadia or Logan were there and nothing was found so far.
Erin moved ahead, with Jay and she moved a tarp and turned to her left and let out a sob as she looked at Nadia's dead body. Her sob turned into a scream as she saw Logan's naked body on the floor, bloodied and bruised. Hank ran towards Erin and let out a strangled cry as he bent down on the floor and used the tarp to cover his daughter's cold body. He placed two fingers on her neck as Erin cried into Jay. Adam and Olinksy ran up to them and Adam's eyes widened as his partner laid on the ground as if she was lifeless.
"Is she-?" Adam said, his voice cutting off and Hank's fingers shook and he shook his head.
"I don't know I can't feel it." He said and Alvin bent down and placed two fingers on her cold neck and after a minute he looked at Voight.
"She has a weak pulse! We need an ambulance." He said and help was immediately called as Hank sat on the floor holding Logan's cold body. Erin bent down looking at their hands being intertwined and she let out a cry and Jay felt a tear fall down his face as the girl he would call a good friend was barley alive.
8 YEARS AGO
Logan groaned, holding onto the sides of the hospital's bed as she felt another contraction hit her. The sweat on her forehead trickled down her temple, sticking her hair to her face as she threw her head back. Kelly stood on the opposite side of her sister, Eliana, as he held onto Logan's hand. She breathed out and looked at her nurse who shook her head.
"Contractions are still very far apart." She said and Logan groaned and shook her head.
"He's going to regret this." Ellia said, rubbing her sister's shoulder comfortingly. Logan looked up at her and breathed out heavily.
"Where's mom?" She asked and Ellie sighed and looked at Kelly and then looked down at her 17 year old sister.
"Mom's still on a case. We've been trying to get a hold of her but she hasn't been answering." She said and Logan clenched her jaw and another contraction hit her. She groaned and the nurse nodded looking at her.
"It's time. Dad are you ready?" She asked looking at Kelly and he cleared his throat looking down at the girl and spoke.
"I'm not the--" He said and Logan sucked in a deep breath and squeezed Kelly's hand hard as he was still wearing his Squad gear. The 23 year old man looked down at Logan and watched as a doctor walked into the room with a smile on her face.
"Ready to have your baby?" She asked looking at Logan and she groaned again and nodded. The doctor sat between Logan's leg and spoke looking up.
"Alright, give me a push." The doctor said and Logan clenched her jaw as she began pushing and the doctor raised her eyebrows.
"Wow, you're already crowning! Give me one more big push, Logan, c'mon." She said Logan gave a hard push, squeezing Kelly's hand as she felt a release and the pressure of her stomach being lifted and she saw her baby girl in the doctor's hand.
Logan looked at the baby and the smile on her face dropped as she realized the baby was blue and wasn't crying.
"Why isn't she crying?" Logan asked, her heart speeding up and the doctor clamp the umbilical cord and looked up at Logan.
"Logan, did your OB tell you that you were going to give birth to a stillborn?" She asked and Logan eyebrows shot up and looked at Kelly.
"What? What does that mean?" She asked and the doctor looked at Kelly who had a tear fall. Logan looked at her baby and shook her head.
"No, no, no, no." She said as she was handed her baby, who was still blue.
"NO!" Logan yelled as she yelled at her baby girl and the tears came streaming down her face as she shook her head.
"No, c'mon, wake up." She said and the baby laid in her arms with no movement. Logan looked at her baby, taking in everything that just hit her and she felt a sharp pain in her stomach and she groaned, still holding her daughter.
The doctor looked back between Logan's legs seeing blood and she looked at the nurse.
"She needs surgery, let's move." She said and Logan looked at Kelly quickly before her eyes rolled into the back of her head. Her arms went limp and Kelly grabbed the baby before she could fall and he held her, taking in everything about the deceased baby.
PRESENT
If anyone had asked the members of Intelligence to give an accurate report of what happened the day Nadia Decotis and Logan Rayner were found, none could give you a good solid statement. After Logan being flown from Metro-General Hospital to Chicago Med, the team made it back to Chicago within an hour.
From what Will Halstead, Jay's brother said so far, Logan might not make it through the night as hypothermia and blood loss played a big factor in her injuries. The blows to her head, torso and legs could have been fatal and she was even lucky to make the ride from New York to Illinois.
Intelligence and the 21st, including Kim, Sean, Platt, the entire Special Crimes unit and Mark sat in the waiting room as every firefighter that worked 51's second shift were in the waiting room as well, uniting the firefighters and the police officers. Evelyn, Eliana, and Dylan stood leaning against the wall as they waited for more information about Logan while Kelly and Matt let their true side's show for the girl, breaking down once they heard the extreme condition she was in. Justin, Logan's younger brother who she had recently met was in the waiting room, standing against the wall, his arms crossed over his chest.
Kelly felt nothing but anger at himself and the man who raped and brutally tried to murder Logan. He couldn't believe that he let something like this happen and he felt responsible. Justin and Amy were sitting next to each other and the door opened and Will Halstead stepped through.
"We were able to fix the bleeders." He said as Voight leaned off the wall and looked at him, Kelly stood up, walking closer to him.
"Besides that there is bad news and some good news I have." He said and Voight breathed in and Will spoke.
"Good news is Logan has a higher chance of making it through the night. She's in a medically induced coma that will help protect her body and help it heal itself. Bad news is Logan was in fact raped, there were tears along the vaginal wall. Other injuries she had received were incredibly huge lacerations to the back, legs, arms and even head. Her brain received extremely hard blows. She crashed twice on the table but pulled through. Logan is extremely lucky to be alive and this next step she's going to have to take won't be an easy one." Will said looking at each and every one of the firefighters and officers in that waiting room. Each of them bit their lip thinking or tried to understand how something like this could happen and Dylan let out a strangled cry as she fell into Eliana's arms.
Will started off with inviting Voight and her two out of the three of her sisters into the room, Evelyn stepping out into the hallway. Soon after, they came out, not being able to comprehend what had happened. For the first time in knowing Voight, Matt realized how much he truly cared about his daughter. Matt and Kelly were next to go, each of the men nervous to see her condition.
Once they stepped into the room the air changed, everything seemed different. The tube coming out from her mouth, made her chest move, pumping oxygen to her lungs. Kelly stood at the end of the bed, with his arms crossed over the other and Matt shook his head looking down at the girl.
"I can't believe this." He stated after the two sat in silence. Kelly stood quiet, looking over the girl's bruises and cuts on her body. He saw the gauze that was wrapped around her head, clearly showing that they preformed surgery on her brain from the swelling and he spoke.
"There's a reason why I wear this necklace." Kelly stated, as the gold necklace laid against the blue fabric of his work shirt. Matt turned to him and looked at it closely.
"Logan had a daughter." He said and Matt furrowed his eyebrows inwards wondering what he was speaking about and Kelly breathed in.
"Her name was Ava. Logan was about 17 when she had her." He said and Matt cleared his throat and spoke.
"What happened?" He asked hesitantly and Kelly looked down to where her feet were and he spoke.
"She was a stillborn. The uh- the father wanted nothing to do with her or Logan. He left and never looked back." He said and Matt shook his head and spoke.
"That sucks." He said and Kelly let out a soft chuckle and spoke as a tear fell down his cheek.
"Logan gave her my last name. I was going to help raise her. I didn't want Logan to go through it alone." She said and Kelly frowned as he looked at the girl and spoke.
"I love her, Matt." He said and Matt nodded and walked over to the lieutenant and place a hand on his shoulder and gave it firm squeeze.
"She loves you, Kelly, more than anything." He said and Matt looked at Logan and then looked back at his best friend and spoke.
"I'll give you two some time." He said and Kelly nodded and Matt walked to Logan, placing a soft kiss on her cold head.
