Daisy's P.O.V
I put down the box with a sigh, straightening up and stretching as I can already feel my back starting to hurt. I should've gotten the trolley thingy but anyway I'll do it for the other two boxes.
I didn't bring too much stuff, only the necessary so, kitchen stuff, bathroom towels and such, a duvet, pillows, bed sheets and duvet covers as well as clothes obviously, lots of them. They all fit into three boxes and two suitcases for my personal belongings.
I take out my phone from my back pocket and see that it's currently 11:33 am and I have three missed calls from my mum of course, I roll my eyes as I see that. This woman never chills.
I arrived at my student accommodation a bit late and there were so many students down at the main hall at this time, it's actually insane. It took 30 minutes of waiting there to finally get checked in.
I use my card to open my door and push the box inside at the same time that I hear the door opposite mine opened, making me look behind me.
"Oh, hi," I say to the tall boy standing across me.
"Hi, I guess you're my neighbour," he says eyeing me up.
"Yeah, I guess so," I say, shifting my weight on my other leg.
"Nice to meet you. I'm Theodore Bennett, but please just call me Theo," he says, extending a hand towards me.
"Nice to meet you too. I'm Daisy Allen but just call me Daisy," I say shaking his hand, smiling gently.
"Is Theodore too much formal sounding for you?" I ask, sliding my card key back in my pocket.
"Something like that," he says chuckling.
"How old are you?" I ask.
"Twenty, you?" He says playing with the rings on his fingers.
"Haven't you been told to never ask a lady her age?" I ask back.
"That only applies to ladies over 50 years old," he says smiling wider.
"Of course," I mumble, smartass.
"I'm twenty as well," I say leaning back on my door.
"Oh, great are you local?" He asks me.
"No, I'm from the capital, south part, you?" I say.
"I'm local which means I can show you around whenever you want. I know all the best places," he says biting his lip.
"That would be nice actually. I only visited once before a couple of years back so, I don't remember much of this place apart from the fact that I liked it," I say smiling.
"Don't worry you won't forget this time around, which university are you attending?" He says, running his hand through his blonde hair.
"The city one, you?" I ask.
"Oh, great, I go there as well what are you studying?" He says leaning a bit forward.
"I'm going to be studying criminology my first year, you?"
"Oh, wow, I'm studying the same thing actually although I did the foundation year as well," he says surprising me.
I never thought my neighbour will end up being a guy that goes to the same uni and studies the same course as me, I'm not complaining though.
This is actually great, I already made a new friend and maybe even a new study buddy!
"How was the foundation year?" I ask the tall handsome boy.
"It sucked, majorly," he says making me chuckle.
"Good to know," I say.
"I hope this year it'll be better and more interesting, cause I don't know how I'm going to pass," he says looking at his shoes whilst biting his lip.
"Are you a bad student?" I ask.
"I'm not the greatest, let's leave it at that," he says smiling.
"Okay, well it would be beneficial to you to know that I'm a good student. I'm not one of the best but I'm pretty good. If you want to I can help you with the assignments," I say smiling.
"That might actually come in handy, I'll keep it in mind," he says.
"Do you know what sort of job you want to do with this degree yet?" I ask him.
"I don't know what I'm doing yet, no, you?" He says.
"I want to be a detective, hopefully," I say making him chuckle.
"What are you chuckling about?" I ask amused.
"It's just that I'm picturing you interrogating criminals with that baby face of yours and it's hilarious," he says shaking his head smiling.
"Oh my lord, my mum says the same thing, come on now," I say groaning.
"I'll gladly come on now and help you with the boxes if you need," he says, wetting his lips after.
"That will be great, thank you," I say starting to walk with him trailing behind me downstairs.
"Do you have many boxes?"
"No I only have two left," I say as the lift reached the ground floor.
"Here they are," I say pointing at them before bending down to pick one up.
"Perfect, let's go, can you hold it?"
"Yeah, I'm fine, this one is not too heavy," I say, brushing his worry off.
Once we arrived up to the fifth floor where we'll be living for the next year at least, he puts the box down in my studio and moves back so he's leaning against the door frame. We exchange numbers and social media usernames as usual.
"I'll look forward to getting to know you," he says.
"Yeah me too, I feel like we'll get along great," I say shrugging.
"Likewise, I'll catch you later," he says.
"Yeah, bye," I say as he leaves my place waving at me.
I grab my phone again and see another missed call from my mum. I sigh and dialled her back, thinking that she's probably suffering by now. It didn't even ring twice before she picked it up.
"What the hell took you so long?" I open my mouth to respond but she already started speaking again.
"It doesn't matter, did you arrive safely? Did you bring your stuff to your room? Is the room nice, just like the pictures? Have you met any neighbours yet? Are the employees there nice?"
"Mum," I say cutting her off.
"Yes, honey?"
"One question at a time, please," I say pressing my lips together.
"Oh, haha, yeah it's just that you worried me by not answering your phone."
"I was bringing my boxes up and yes I've met the guy living across from me and yes he seems nice just like the employees here," I say.
"Oh, that's great but you know stay away from boys they will distract you from your studies."
"Mum, I know and don't worry I'm not looking for anything."
"That's good cause your studies are important right now, oh you didn't tell me how is the room?"
"It's nice just like the pictures, I'll send you pictures now before I start unpacking or after I put everything away, okay?" I say looking around the decent one-person studio.
It has modern elements like marble counters and a dining table mixed with wood elements for warmth and it's really cosy looking.
"Okay then sent me pictures and now and after," she says.
Of course, I should've expected that answer.
"Okay, mum anyway I'm going to close now so I can unpack and get ready, I'll go out with my friends for dinner tonight," I say.
"Okay honey, but you know text me once you'll leave and once you come back so I won't worry," she says.
"Yes mum bye," I say ending the call.
I look at the boxes and fall back on my bed sighing.
The quicker I unbox the more time I'll have to get ready for tonight.
Okay, I stand up again and kneel next to my boxes, let's do this!
