Side Story (Vex): Infestation

"Guard your heart and mind against double-minded pretentious beings. Do not allow infiltration beyond the surface. If their influence travels on the inside, they become like an incurable disease." - Amaka Imani Nkosazana

Kuo Kuana, a small sea side village on the continent Menagerie. Within the middle of it all was a large Mansion where one Ghira Belladonna lived and worked.

As a Chieftain of Menagerie it's often his duty and job to look over and protect all of Menagerie and it's people.

Be they Faunus and or Human, but as he reads numerous reports across all the villages it's seems that he is incapable of doing so.

It all started when people journey on too far into a certain part of the forests deeper in, they don't come back. It's like they, disappear, no trace is left of the missing people.

Either this is the work of a very smart Grimm, or the work of really smart bandits who found themselves fortunate to get a total of 23 victims, with 15 of those men Menagerie Guard.

Whoever these men were Ghira Belladonna knew they were dangerous, very much so, so with great reluctance on the Menagerie's Council part, two teams of Huntsman were hired to find the cause of this treachery.

"After all they're not cheap these days, expecting exuberant amounts of money now for a job like this, it's ridiculous". Ghira finds himself saying.

He thinks back on the days of when he was a child, about how the Huntsman back then would take any job as long as the people were safe.

Things weren't easy as well since the Huntsman hired HAD to have a Faunus individual with them, so that took awhile as well, and with the amount of time grew so did Ghira's annoyance.

"Weeks, it took three weeks before we can finally have some help, three weeks before we lost Twenty-Three good men and women", Ghira found himself sighing once more.

Standing up from his desk filled with stacks of paper work Ghira decides to take a walk around his home. Thinking on how exactly the Huntsman would take on this situation.

There is a high probability that it is bandits, and if it is it just brings up a whole slew of problems, bandits somehow found their way in Menagerie, they're successful in killing both people and guards.

And Menagerie is now a venerable target because of it, to both them and Grimm.

Ring~ Ring~
Ring~ Ring~

Looking at his scroll he finds that it was one of the council members calling him,

Beep! "Hello?"

"Ghira, I was just notified that they're here in Kuo Kuana, they should be making your way, I hope you have a plan of action for them." Ghira was appalled.

"A-a plan of action? With all due respect I wasn't informed I had to make a plan for them."

"It was your choice to hired these Huntsman, as Chieftain I was certain you had it all figured out."

"Well yes but-"

"Ghira, you had three weeks of hiring these Huntsman but you haven't thought of a plan of action against these Grimm?"

"It's because we don't know what exactly we're dealing with, it could be Grimm, Bandits, rough Huntsman. We don't even know!"

"Then you better make one soon."

Beep!

"Grah!!" Ghira growled at the Council members actions, placing the important stuff to him, well as much as he was glad he was the one leading and handling this problem.

What worried him most was that should the Huntsman plan fail, so would his standing among his people in Menagerie, during his time as Chieftain he was sure there would be power plays for his position.

If it wasn't for his negotiation skills and genuine attitude for the care of his people and others, he wouldn't have even made the position he was in now.

While dreading what could've been, Ghira need to think fast on this and give what the council needed, and solve what this problem even was.

Later on, Ghira met with the Huntsman who found they're way to his home, and led them to a room where the plan that Ghira made was told.

"With many of the recent missing people reports we found that many of them had disappeared within this area of the forest."

Pointing to a map on the wall it showed that a large red circle was draw and colored red all within a certain area of the forest outside of Kuo Kuana and many of the neighboring villages.

"Your mission is a simple one, you two are to split into your respective teams and travel into this area from the left and right. Whoever wants to go where, I'll let you both decided that amongst yourselves. Any questions?"

With a raised hand one of the Huntsman leaders asked Ghira his question. "What exactly are we going to find out there?" Said the red-scarf wearing Huntsman named Crimson from Team One.

Ghira sighed and remained honest, "I'm afraid even we don't know what you'll find,  but whatever it is, it's dangerous, so much so that 23 good men and women disappeared without a trace. Yes Miss Snow?"

When looking at the raised hand the Snow Leopard Faunus women spoke, "Haven't you figured out if it was Grimm? Or Bandits?" The Team One member asked.

"We discussed such a thing but with there being no trace of the victims or obvious Grimm attacks we are inclined to believe that this is the work of bandits either stealing, killing, or flat out capturing our men, but again that's is a theory."

"So what exactly is our objectives here?" The Rouge looking Huntsman asked. "Since we'll be sending you into unknown territory your objectives are as follow."

Objectives: Find the reason for the missing Faunus people.

Kill all (and if any) Grimm that is located around and within "The Danger Zone".

"And as much as it pains me to say, we also need this problem solved as soon as possible so if you're able to."

Captured or Kill the cause of the missing people, if unable to, retreat back and a new plan of action shall be made to accommodate unknown variable(s).

Ghira said, listing off the objectives the two teams need to complete. "If you can at least complete the first two then please retreat as soon as possible, IF, you believe you guys are in way over your heads. Secondary objectives include."

Saving the missing Faunus People and or finding the cause of their disappearance.

"More of those secondary objectives will be added later on if the situation calls for it. Any questions?"

No other person raised a hand or asked a question.

"Alright, we're counting on you huntsman to figure out what is plaguing our home, you all will be handsomely rewarded should you all come back from this mission. Me and the people of Menagerie are all counting on you. Please don't let's us down."

"We wouldn't think of it sir." Crimson says proudly.

"Good, then you're all dismissed, let's get you geared up."

As the two huntsman teams continued to get ready for the journey ahead what they don't understand is that deep in the forest where their mission will take them, there is a single metal object.

It was shaped like a large metal disk as if it was stuck into the ground, as it stood their inactive for days, suddenly electricity could be heard.

Sparks flashing in front and around what would now be considered a portal as a blue energy flowed all around the disk and the ground.

Then soon after metal constructs looked to be materializing out from the portal, one after another. First it was three, then six, then twelve, then twenty-four.

One after another and when the portal finally deactivated a team of what would soon be called Goblins would find their way out.

The whole team being 48 Goblins and Two Vex Minotaurs all with one goal in mind.

"Study, Test, and Eliminate "Remnant's Guardians."

"Affirmative" was all the Goblins said as they all marched in separate units, the Minotaurs splitting up, going with two specific groups of Goblins into the Forest.

The Vex already knew the Huntsman were coming.
