"You're telling me this right now." Crystal shouts at me, as we are in the middle of our Spanish class.
"Is there a problem Miss Crystal?" Mr. Diaz asks with an angry expression.
"No sir, I'm sorry."
I just told Crystal that Ace asked me on a date last night and now she's over exaggerating because I waited till the last class to her about this.
"Girl, you so dead. No going home today, We're going shopping." She orders.
"I already have so many dresses Crys." I protest.
"Fine, but if I don't like any on of them, I'll drag you to the shopping mall myself." I put my hands up in surrender. "God, I can't believe you kept it from me for this long." I laugh at her, earning a last warning from Mr. Diaz.
As soon as the bell rings, Crystal drags me to the parking lot. On my way I see Ace casually leaning against the locker beside Haze's. I send him a quick wave before getting pulled even harder.

"What time does he picks you up."
"7"
"We have no time Hazel." She's starting to get on my nerves now. My room looks like, it hasn't been cleaned for ages. All my shoes are scattered here and there, I wonder if I can even find their pairs later. My closet floor is covered with all sorts of dresses which Crystal rejected by saying things like 'this one's too glittery, this ones too long, This is too short' etc etc. Its just a date what's so special about it.
Date... And then, realization hits me like tons of bricks. Its my first official date. Its not like I haven't been on dates, but they were more like Hangout, not like a date date. Okay, maybe it is special.
I smile at a hyperventilating Crystal and that seems to push her over the edge even more.
"Lets just take a break. We literally have 3 hours before Ace comes to pick me up." I push her towards the bed, forcing her to sit down and then sprinting downstairs to get some drinks for us. On my way back I ask Maria to get us some snacks.
"How about we watch something." I offer as I hand her the juice.
"I still think that we should go to the mall and get you a new dress." Sighing I look at the plain V neck black dress, which ends mid thigh. Crystal paired it with long high heeled black boots and a long white cardigan.
"I think its perfect." I tell her honestly. "Besides, your brother wants to go on a date with me and not the dress." I try to joke but that just earns me a death glare from her. "Okay, enough about the date, lets watch friends." With that I plop on the bed and turn the T.V. on. Crystal tries to protest a couple of times but I just ignore her. After sometime, she gives in and watches the show silently, occasionally laughing at Joey and Chandler's punch lines.
An hour later we decide to start the job. My hair and make up take like forever. But when I look at my reflection, I'm petrified.
The girl that stares back at me is someone else. She looks so beautiful and confident. The smoky eye makeup and the layers of mascara, brings out her brown orbs so profoundly. Her perfect brown locks, fall in waves, right above her waist and the dark lipstick stands out the best.
The black dress hugs her on all the right paces, flaunting each and every curve on her body.
"I look-"
"Ravishing." Crystal finishes off the sentence for me. Well, I wouldn't even care to deny that. I'm totally in love with me today. Not that I don't love my self everyday, its just, I think, this the best I've ever looked.
Smiling, I pull Crystal in a bear hug. "Thank you so much."
"Someone looks beautiful today." I hear my mom from the doorway. I pull back from Crystal and look at her. "Oh, look at you, all grown up." She smiles with teary and tiered eyes. She looks like she hasn't slept for days. I move to embrace her into a tight hug.
"I'm so sorry baby, I couldn't do anything to save you from your father." She says referring to the time, she and dad had a screaming contest over us. I knew, her voicing up won't make any difference, but I'm glad that she at least stoop up. She actually cared enough to do something about it.
"Don't be sorry momma, its not your fault. You know, someone once told me that life will unexpected turns in unexpected directions, but I just have to go with its flow and stay strong on my end." I pull back and smile at her.
"Oh right, the person who told you that, is waiting for you downstairs."
"Ace is here?" Oh no, is it 7 already, I am not ready yet.
"Hmm... That's a handsome name for a handsome guy." Mom teases.
Why am I feeling so anxious and nervous. I practically meet that guy every day. But, what if he thinks I'm overdressed, what if laughs at me.
"Oh god baby, calm down, you're shivering."
"Yeah, chill girl, its just Ace"
Yeah, its just Ace, the same Ace I see in all my classes, the same guy I hugged last night. Then why the hell my heart is beating like I just ran a marathon.
"Okay.. take a deep breath." Crystal puts her hands on my shoulder.
"I'm fine I'm fine." With one last glance at the mirror and a goodbye hug to Mom and Crystal, I walk out of my room. My legs still tremble, but I'm doing my best, not to let the nervousness get to my face. I don't wanna ruin my special day.
Take a deep breath, just calm down, Its just Ace.
Okay, I'm ready, I just have to go down these stairs and there he is, waiting for me. Right, step by step, slowly and steadily. Very good Hazel, you got th-...
Holy mother of Jesus.
You know what, I take it all back. I can't do this. Can he get any hotter. I mean the guy looks like freaking Ian Somerhalder. If said I was nervous, that is nothing compared to what I'm right now. Fuck overdressing, I literally feel underdressed as compared to him.
He's wearing a light blue button down shirt, whose top couple of buttons are undone, showing off his perfectly toned chest. Over the shirt he is wearing a navy blue tux jacket, paired with a black jeans and white Vans. His jet black hair fall messily on his forehead, cascading his pretty blue eyes.
Maybe I should have listened to Crystal and bought a new dress.
Composing myself and my thoughts I walk down the remaining stairs. As his eyes fall on me, they go wide and his jaw drops on the floor.
Hmm.. That's a good sign. Que the mental smirk.
"You'll catch a bug O'Conner." I close his mouth, chuckling. He gets hold of his composure and smiles brightly at me.
"Ready?"
"yup" I say plopping the 'p' at the end.
The scent of his cologne fills my nostrils as I step into the car. "Oh, 1 sec." He turns back to grab something from the back seat and pulls a bunch of red roses. "Beautiful flowers for the beautiful girl."
"Thanks" I feel my cheeks heating up at the comment. Is it normal to be at loss of words to start a conversation with a person, you never stop chatting with.
Not, knowing what else to say, I turn the radio on but Ace turns it off again.
"Oh no, you know the rules, No music while with me." He says with a smirk plastered on his face. "Talk to me Mikaelson."
"Okay, where are we going?"
"A, that's a surprise and B, you should know that I wouldn't tell you." Well of course that was a stupid question and It would be really helpful if my brain cells would cooperate with me.
"Right, how was your day at school?" Seriously, day at school. Who even asks that. C'mon Hazel, you can definitely do better than day at school.
"Boring, I mean have you seen Heartly's face... It seems like he's high on some sort of drugs and don't even get me started on the speed he teaches with. My dead grandma can speak faster than him." I chuckle, staring at his beautiful face. My eyes travel down from his eyes to his sharp jaw line and to his soft kissable lips.
"You know, they say staring is rude."
"Well I guess they mustn't have had such a beautiful view to stare at." I think out loud and my cheeks instantly go pink. What the hell is wrong with me tonight.
