The next morning Lily feels a little better, she gets up as usual and dresses ready for the day. Brushing her hair she ties it up into a messy bun, slipping on a pair of shorts with a dark blue off-the-shoulder top with white flowers around the trim. Skipping down the stairs and into the dining room she walks over to the table and gently sets herself in a chair. Aunt Petunia walks over and sets a plate of eggs and toast in front of her. Tucking in she looks up at the sound of a knock on the door, she stands and goes to the door, opening it she comes face-to-face well, face-to-beard, with the strangest man she had ever seen. He is wearing what looks to be a maroon dress that reaches down to his feet with sleeves so long that they almost cover his hands. He is wearing half-moon-shaped glasses with eyes that seem to twinkle, he has long white hair and a beard to match. Lily stands there staring for what feels like an eternity until she remembers that it is rude to stare, straightening up she curtsies and smiles. "Hello," Lily chirps. "How can I help you?"
"Good morning, Miss. Potter, terribly sorry to interrupt your breakfast. My name is Albus Dumbledore and I am here to speak with you, your aunt, and your uncle."
Lily furrows her brows in confusion at the mention of her name and the fact that he knew she was eating breakfast. Turning inside Lily calls for her aunt, Petunia comes to the door, blanching when she sees Dumbledore. Inviting him inside they all sit in the sitting room; Petunia leaves to get tea with Vernon. Lily and Dumbledore stare at each other, unblinking for a few moments until Dumbledore looks away, clearing his throat awkwardly as he sits up straighter. Petunia re-enters the room, closely followed by Vernon and Dudley, and sets a tea tray on the coffee table. They all squeeze on the couch, Lily between Petunia and Dudley. Dumbledore takes his time fixing his tea to his liking and takes a sip while everyone watches him carefully. Dumbledore sighs and sets his teacup down.
He explains that Lily has been accepted into Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Lily is beyond ecstatic while everyone else is mortified. Dumbledore then states that he shall be taking her to a place called Diagon Alley where she can buy all of her school supplies. Petunia sits up, ready to protest when Dumbledore cuts her off.
"Of course, your family is more than welcome to come along if they so choose." Vernon instantly rejects the offer and Lily whips around to look at her aunt hopefully. Petunia agrees to go.
Albus stands suddenly and moves closer to the two, holding out his arms. "Take my arms and I will take you now so we can get started shopping."
"Let me go get my pocketbook," Petunia says, getting up to leave when Dumbledore holds his arm up, blocking her way.
"No need, Miss. Potter has a vault in our bank with enough money for all of her schooling supplies for her entire time at school." Petunia and Lily share surprised looks. Lily shrugs it off and takes Dumbledore's arm, Petunia follows suit, albeit hesitantly.
Suddenly it feels as though someone is pulling on the back of their navels. As they land outside of a pub in the hustle and bustle of London, Petunia is filled with the urge to empty her stomach on the sidewalk but pushes the feeling down. Lily on the other hand felt fine, if not for the sudden urge to use the restroom. They all enter the pub and Petunia takes in her surroundings while waiting for Lily-Kathryn to relieve herself. Once they all are together again Dumbledore takes them out behind the pub and taps on the stone wall with his wand. The bricks in the wall shift and slide until there is an opening leading to an amazing alley filled with shops and people walking in the strange dress-like contraptions Dumbledore is wearing, albeit less sparkly. Lily tugs at the skirt of Petunia's lavender dress until she bends down to her height to listen.
"Why are they all wearing those funny dresses?" She whispers, looking confused as her aunt giggles. "Those are not dresses dearest, they're robes," Petunia runs her hand through Kathryn's hair as she stands back up straight. "You will be getting a pair or two of robes too."
The trio makes their way through the crowded streets and into Gringotts bank, Petunia shrieks and pulls Lily back after seeing the goblins at each desk. Once she calms down they are escorted onto a cart to lead them to Lily's vault.
Once seated Dumbledore leans down and whispers to Lily, "I suggest you lift your hands, it makes it more fun." When she looked at him strangely Dumbledore demonstrated by lifting his hands to shoulder height. Lily followed suit and lifted her hands.
As the cart zooms and swishes down the tunnels and passages Lily giggles and shrieks in joy and excitement while Petunia holds onto the railing for dear life, praying to all things Holy that she will not be sick. Arriving at a large door in a stone dungeon they all exit the cart and approach. The goblin takes the key and opens it to reveal more silver and gold than either Lily-Kathryn or Petunia had ever seen before. Lily gets her small bag and fills it with enough money for her shopping. They all leave and ride back up to the surface.
They leave the bank and look at all of the shops to choose from. Lily-Kathryn points excitedly at the bookstore and they walk inside. Looking around at all of the books she is filled with excitement, after reading her way through all of Harry's books she couldn't wait to get a set of her own and more. After seeing a sign saying the author of her books would be there for a book signing she ecstatically leads her aunt into the store. Going to the book signing Kathryn stops suddenly because standing there getting his picture is Harry.
She immediately tugs on Petunia's skirt to get her attention. "Auntie, can we come back later? Harry's here I don't want to see him right now," she asks, begging for a yes.
"Of course, dear, let's go look at the pet store. See if we can find something interesting?" Petunia says, taking her hand and signaling Dumbledore to walk outside. After exiting the bookstore, Dumbledore leaves, running some errands as the ladies walk into The Magical Menagerie pet store. Eyes growing wide the two look around in wonder at all of the cats, owls, toads, and other magical creatures.
Walking around, they look for the perfect pet. It seems most of the animals do not want to be Lily-Kathryn's pets. The cats hiss and back away as she walks by, striking out with their claws. The birds ruffle their feathers and fly away, cawing and screeching. The toads hide in their toad shelters hissing slowly. Lily walks, disheartened, she doesn't understand why the animals don't like her. Is it something she did? Does she smell bad? Giving up hope she walks towards the front of the store to meet up with her aunt and leave when she hears strange cooing coming from a dark corner near the back of the store. Walking closer she found a small, dark cage with what appeared to be four little blue, spiky hands holding onto the bars. Bending down to look in the cage at eye level she sees a little lizard face covered in spikes with big black eyes, she stares in awe at the pure adorableness of the creature as it licks its eye.
"Auntie," Lily calls out into the store. "Can I get this little one?" She asks, holding a finger out to the creature. It leans forward and licks her finger, pushing its face against the cage. Lily rubs her finger on the spikes of its nose.
"Are you sure dearest? It doesn't look very friendly." She asks hesitantly.
"I'm sure." She says.
Petunia calls a store clerk over who stares shocked at the lizard. The creature is usually very hostile but wants to go home with this little girl. "This is a chupacabra, they can be very dangerous if not handled properly. They are very loyal and will stay with you for as long as they live. They do live off of the blood of goats and usually are used by dark wizards. Here is a list of things you will need to get to take care of him properly as well as some books that may be of use to you. This chupacabra is but a baby, he is male and very special, due to being the last left in his litter. He will be a very powerful familiar, please enjoy and come back soon?" The clerk says as they take Lily's money. After picking up all of the new supplies for her chupacabra the two head back outside.
Once they meet up with Dumbledore the trio continues their shopping. They collect all of the needed books, plus some extra books about Chupacabras and potions; they also get her supplies, clothes, and her wand. Dumbledore transports them back home after packaging all of the supplies. Once Lily gets home she immediately pulls out her new pet, they back up in shock.
"It's so ugly," Dudley exclaims in disgust.
"He's not ugly, he's a chupacabra and he is an adorable baby." She says in a baby voice, squishing him to her face. The baby reaches out his little paws and holds onto her hair with all six hands. "What's his name?" Vernon asks, daring to venture a little closer.
"His name is Claude." Lily gives a cheeky smile.
"Is it because he has sharp claws?" She nods.
