Mirabel was sobbing into her knees as she sat by the river.
"Mirabel" Alma said softly as she approached from behind, She looked upon her with guilt.
Mirabel turned away, then she turned back before speaking,
"I'm sorry" her voice cracked.
"I didn't want to hurt us, I just... wanted to be something I'm not" she choked out.
Mirabel cried into her knees once again. Alma hesitated before taking the seat next to her.
"I've never been able to come back here" Alma spoke as she gazed upon the river.
Water fell beautifully from the rocks.
"This, is where we were given our Miracle" She stated as she also looked upon it sadly.
"Where abuelo Pedro.. Diego and Sophia..?"
"We thought we would have a different life" Alma said with no expression in her voice, but sad and numbness on her face.
"I thought we would be different women..."
Alma spoke.
Two young women walked up to the town as they giddily held hands excitedly.
And older women presented to candles to them which they took gratefully. Not being able to see, Alma stood up on a stone wall and held onto a pole, she stuck her tongue out at her friend Sophia as she pushed herself through the crowd to make it at the front.
Alma caught sight of a yellow butterfly and started to gaze upon it, she then made eye contact with a Young man who had done the same thing and lean himself up against the pole, he waved at her.
Alma waved back but lost her balance and quickly caught herself on the pole again, she laughed sheepishly.
The same butterfly flew in-front of Sophia as she continued to push her way through the crowd, she watched the butterfly in awe causing her to run into someone who was coming her way, the two made eye contact and laughed it off.
Alma and Pedro were now sitting by a fountain as they ate and talked.
The same was happening on the other side with Sophia and Diego. Eventually, they four grew to be each others best friends.
Soon after the two couples were married.
Together they announced how many babies they were having to their husbands, alma
Showed triplets which caused Pedro to faint, he was happy nonetheless as his wife fell in his arms.
Sophia only showed one but Diego was still over the moon and gently spun his wife in the air, the four laughed as they would be able to experience this All together.
One night, after Alma had finally birthed her three babies, Sophia and Diego were staying the night with their own child to help Alma and Pedro with anything.
But the fours attention was shifted as they looked outside the window so see men on horse throwing torches around and biting done others houses, Sophia and Diego's being one of the first.
They looked out fearfully and sadly before making eye contact with one another.
They started to flea their town, Sophia and Alma were holding their babies close as their husbands lead the way, Pedro's hand was on Alma's backs as Diego was holding Sophia's hand from behind.
The townspeople now crossed the lake, but they heard the horses from behind, making many people start to run, the four turned around in horror, they to started to run.
Diego and Pedro stopped, causing their wives to do the same, they looked at them with concern, Diego kissed Carlos before he pat the triplets as Pedro had kissed his triplets and gave Carlos a little pat.
The two kissed their wives and ran off to try and plead with the men on the horses, Pedro and Diego handed the candle over to Sophia.
However Sophia shook her hand as the two went over, Sophia placed the candle down, accidentally cutting herself on the knee with a rock that was on the floor,
She hid her baby in a bush nearby, she was about to run over with Diego and Pedro to help.
Alma made eye contact with as if telling her to stop, Sophia smiled sadly before she joined the two.
Alma fell on her knees as she reached out, just seeing her life long, best friend and lover be killed. She sobbed harder.
Though it was very hard to do so, Alma approached where Sophia had left her baby, still letting out loud sobs and carried the baby over towards where the candle sat, she promised herself that she would raise Carlos since her best friends couldn't.
Just then the candle started to glow with a butterfly pattern, mountains started to raise and the approaching men were blown away due to the candles force.
Alma sat sadly on the floor as she glanced at the four sleeping babies.
"I was given a miracle, a second chance" Alma spoke as a flashback showed her walking passed Bruno's door who had a hopeful look in his eye, However Alma didn't acknowledge him, he friend sadly.
"And I was so afraid to lose it" she continued as she walked passed Isabella and Luisa who stood tall to impress her.
"That I lost sight, of who our miracle was fall"
Mirabels door disappeared indicating she did not receive a gift.
"And, I am so sorry"
"You never hurt our family Mirabel, we are broken because of me"
Mirabel looked at her Abuela with sadness as she noticed a yellow butterfly, fly across the river, it landed on a price of grass in the middle of the river, this made Mirabel sit a bit straighter.
"Abuela.." Mirabel said as she now stood in front of her.
"I can't finally see"
She held out her Hands to Alma, Alma grabbed onto them.
"You lost your home" Mirabel repeated as she guided Alma towards the butterfly
"Lost everything"
"You suffered so much, all alone" Mirabel said with tears clouding her eyes
"So it would never happen again"
"We were saved because of you" Alma looked at Mirabel with curiosity.
"We were given our miracle, because of you!"
"We are a family because of you, and nothing could ever be broken that we couldn't fix" Mirabel said as she now cupped Alma's hands.
"Together"
Alma smiled and started to speak.
"I asked my Pedro and two best friends for help.." she now cupped Mirabel's face.
"Mirabel.. they sent me you"
The two had both started to cry and they hugged each other tightly, the sun shined brighter and a heard of yellow butterflies started to fly around the lake, the two watched in awe as they watched the butterflies fly around them. Alma then spoke,
"Y/N reminds me a lot of Sophia, she always used to speak her mind, Sophia hated that about herself, I was hoping to save Y/N from that"
Alma spoke fondly of her late best friend. Mirabel smiled in understanding.
"I think Y/N likes being opinionated" Mirabel laughed.
"That's the difference" Alma chucked softly as they Began to leave the river.
Mirabel helped Alma out of the lake as someone neo started to yell out.
"She didn't do this!" Bruno yelled as he rode a horse towards the two
"She didn't do this!"
"I gave her a vision!" Bruno yelled confidently as he dismounted the horse, however his foot was stuck in the foot rest.
He fell as the horse moves away.
"It was me!"
"I was like go! And she was like brshh she only wanted to help!-" Alma looked at Bruno with shock and love
"-I don't care what you think of me but if your to stubborn to-"
Alma interrupted him as she ran up to hug him
"Brunito.." she said softly
"I feel like I missed something important" Bruno said as his mother continued to hug him.
"Cmon" Mirabel smiled at the two as she walked over to the horse, Alma let go of Bruno and also walked over to the horse, before kissing Bruno on the cheek.
She helped Bruno up on the back of the horse
"What's, what's happening?"
"Where are we going?" He asked as Mirabel took a deep breath in.
"Home!" She smirked as she started to ride the horse, Bruno shrieked as he almost fell off.
