Midnight
Y/N's POV -
It was to be expected, the two of them seemed to be a perfect and opposite match, like both sides of the same coin. But it still didn't bring the fact that it hurt much more than Y/N had anticipated.
They were gone that very same night. Both of them, kidnapped and taken to a school far,far away from Gavaldon.
Y/N was too anxious to sleep that night, worried if her friends would be taken. She didn't want them to be taken. They were her only friends. She couldn't imagine what it would be like to lose them. Just imagining her once lonesome life was enough to bring tears to her eyes.
But her eyes were beginning to slump down. She needed to sleep.
Y/N fluttered her eyes close, surrendering to the hypnotic feeling of slumber.
'No, not yet,' Y/N snapped at herself, slapping her cheek to wake herself up. Her eyes wandered towards the light bulb hanging on the ceiling- a long black shadow crawled towards her vision, dancing around the light before it stopped. It's bony, hunchbacked human shadow shifted, facing towards her.
Y/N held her breathe as her eyes widened in terror.
'How did it get in?' She thought. 'They locked me inside thinking that it'd be a human being. What is this?'
It moved again. Towards the wood covered window. At first, it seemed as if it was going to leave her alone as it turned its body to look back at her once more. But it didn't.
The shadow jumped off the walls, the 2D shape becoming real as dark cloud-like particles followed it.
And when it finally lunged towards Y/N, she finally found her voice- letting out a loud scream as she ripped her blankets off, jumping off her bed, managing to dodge its aggressive arms.
Y/N panted heavily.
'Come up with a solution,' She told herself.
'Hit it,' a voice in her head told her.
She mentally slapped herself. Such a stupid idea! It a shadow cloud- thingy! Did she really expect anything to happen if she just smacked it?!
The shadow flew towards her again, this time faster than she could comprehend- it's arms wrapping around her waist in a tight hold, dragging her out from the window.
Y/N shut her eyes, ready to hear the loud crash of boards being broken.
She didn't hear any.
Instead, Y/N opened her eyes to find herself outside of her house, her legs dangling in front of her, passing through the walls like fluid water.
'What just happened?'

The School Master's shadow flew fast, passing through the town square as quickly as the sound of light but the guards were to quick to think, catching a glimpse of Y/N's dress against the glow of the torches and running off after the shadow.
"End the School Master!" They cried.
The shadow flew faster, the hard wind slapping her skin as they barged into a home- all of the boards taken down and windowsills gone.
The door of the room slammed open after them, right on time.
It was Sophie's father, Y/N realized. That meant they were in Sophie's room!
"I saw something!" He panted, waving his torch. "He took her!"
Y/N looked down at them, hanging from the ceiling.
Both Agatha and Sophie was here.
Agatha caught the crooked shadow on the wall, stepping into his broad silhouette.
"Y/N!" She cried, pointing to the hanging girl besides the silhouette.
Stefan swiveled but the shadow blew out his torch. It all went dark. Y/N could hear the repeated sound of metal hitting against each other- the sound of Agatha's match!
"Agatha, save yourself! I'm--" Y/N started before the School Master lunged towards them quietly, grabbing hold of Sophie as he fled, a group of screams and howls from villagers following after them.
"Why are you here!? You're going to ruin everything!" Sophie exclaimed.
"What?!"
"It's obviously that we're both good, why would he take two of us!?" Sophie said, steam coming through her ears.
"I don't understand either, Sophie!" Y/N argued back.
"I'm good!" Sophie screamed. "And if I'm good, that makes you evil! He wouldn't kidnap the both of us if he couldn't tell!"
"What nonsense are you spouting!" She spat back. Her eyes followed the chasing villagers. Just as they were about to reach them, their torches magically exploded and trapped them in rings of fire.
Sophie looked down on her dress with a frown, the sudden wrath leaving her body, "I really thought there'd be footmen," she said to the shadow. "Or a pumpkin carriage at least."
Y/N rolled her eyes, "Really? You do know that it'd make the kidnappings a lot easier to catch right?"
"It would be fitting for a princess," was all Sophie said as both of them began to disappear into trees. Sophie glanced at the now fire blazing town and smiled, ignoring Y/N's disappointed look as she elbowed the shadow, "Farewell, Gavaldon! Farewell, low ambition! Farewell, mediocrity-"
Then, Agatha emerged through the flames.
"Agatha, no!" Sophie shouted.
Agatha leapt on top of them and all three were dragged into the darkness. Agatha thrashed around, clawing against the shadow as it tried to descend into the air.
Finally, the fires around the villagers were extinguished and they dashed towards the woods.
The two girls began to fight.
"Go away, Agatha!"
"No!" Agatha said, grabbing Y/N's arm. "I have to save you guys!" Successfully, Agatha thrusted Y/N away and she fell onto the cold dirt floor with a loud thud.
"Wait!" Y/N called out, picking herself up and running towards the dark woods, following them. "Agatha, Sophie, you need to-"
They disappeared, they're bodies dying with the darkness as the sound of Sophie's "WHAT ARE YOU DOING!" began to fade.
The villager's chants came closer, the light getting brighter and brighter towards Y/N. Y/N stood there silently, head down. Finally, she turned. It was no use looking for them now. She knew they were already gone. It was like that every four years.
She clenched her fists as her mother came running towards her, besides her father who was in iron armor and torch by his side.
"I'm so glad you're okay!" Her mother whimpered, trembling against the cold midnight air.
"Yeah, me too," Y/N mumbled, crystalline tears forming in her eyes as they dropped onto the ground, sparkling against the pregnant moon.
'I wished I was stronger. Maybe then, they would both be with me right now.'
Y/N stayed quiet during the journey back home, locking herself into her room and burying herself against the thick F/C blankets. She stayed expressionless, her lips trembling as she frowned, tears running down her face once more that day and soaking the sheets- leaving blotches of wet tears. She muffled her sobs, digging deeper into her blankets.
Soon, Y/N found herself crying herself to sleep, wrapping her arms around one another as a protective barrier.
That night, Y/N had a nightmare.
_______________________________
Y/N didn't know what happened. But when she had woken up, it was already night time. She had slept for the entire day. Her eyes were foggy and the air was cold, giving her goosebumps along the arms. She closed her eyes again as she fell back into the bed, it was warm and quiet. Peaceful even.
Then, the twins barged in, a loud crack hitting the walls with such force that it shook Y/N wide awake.
Y/N stared at them, eyes wide. Their cheeks were flushed red, nose snotty and runny, tears staining their cheeks as more big tears fell.
"Mom . . ." Isabell cried, shaking. "Mom fell and hit her head."
The two of them balled tears even bigger as they let out big whines.
Quickly, Y/N jumped out of bed, leading the two of them into the bathroom to grab tissues.
"Hey, it's alright," she told them, folding the tissue into squares and wiping their tears away. "Mum will be alright, she's strong."
The twins nodded quietly in understanding, letting out hiccups as they used their sleeves to wipe away their tears. Miles grabbed the collar of his shirt, lifting it towards his nose.
"No-" Y/N stopped him, grabbing more tissue and angling it towards his nose, "Blow, like this," she said, exhaling through her nose.
He copied her movements and soon, Y/N managed to calm the both of them down.
"Now," she sighed, "Where's mom?"
"Graveyard," Miles said.
"What??" She yelled, "She's dead?!"
"No," Isabell interrupted, "She's with that graveyard lady."
Y/N let out a low ohh sound before walking off into the living room, the two following behind her.
"Is anyone else here?" Y/N asked.
"Liam and Natalie are sleeping," Isabel said.
Y/N turned to look at them, "Go to bed, I'll go and check in mom myself, alright?"
They nodded, running off into the dark hallways into their bedroom. Y/N grabbed the keys and walked out of the door, locking it before she left. Then, Y/N was running towards the graveyard as fast as she could, dodging sticks and twigs that scraped her legs. She froze, her body stopping against her own will.
Y/N blinked repeatedly, awakening on her own bed.
'A dream?' She thought to herself.
Y/N tried to move, no use.
'What in the world is going on?'
She started breathing harder, her attention on her body as she forced her fingers to move- not even a flinch.
The door creaked open, the moonlight shining its light against the doors. Long rake-like fingers emerged through the crack of the door, than another one came out. One limb at a time, the figure got bigger, skinner. Its' body dark as obsidian, skinny bones sticking out and its' body long- taller than the roof of the door. Its' features were alien like, around six feet tall, the head was swiveled and deform, tilting the left and jaw cracked slightly open. Choked croaking could be heard when it lifted its mouth to form unrecognizable words. It limped towards the bed, letting out cracking sounds as bones slapped against each other.
Y/N breathed harder, choking on her breath as she felt an unnatural force choke her- forcing her to look at the creature with blurry eyes. It stopped against the frame of the bed, bending down to get closer- the creature now crawling towards her.
Then, it neared her face, bringing its long knife pointed fingers to her cheek, and running it down her face. Y/N could feel herself slightly tremble as it scratched her cheeks leaving trails of blood to drip down. The creature that towered her than stopped its movements before bringing its self closer. And closer. And closer. Until, the both of them were face to face. Y/N held her breathe into anticipation.
Y/N felt its' arms go beneath the blankets, pulling her closer as it wrapped its' long arms around her body. Her breathe hitched, taking noticed on how the bony arms was long enough to wrap around her entire body. It leaned closer, hiding its' head along the bones of her neck.
Y/N paused, 'It's hugging me?'

Y/N jumped up, waking up again once more. But this time, she wasn't dreaming. This time, it was real. Y/N's mind flashed right back to the dream before she began sobbing. Why was she sobbing! It was just a dream!
'But why was it hugging me?!' Y/N screamed to herself. 'What could that possibly mean?!'
_______________________________
Y/N didn't sleep that whole night, not until the sun began to rise. She didn't want to sleep in the dark knowing that a vision of a creature might come back.
New fear unlocked - The dark, or more like things in the dark.
So when she finally woke up, it was already around noon. Y/N stayed in her bed, 'Maybe I should talk about it to Miss. Callis,' she thought pulling herself out of bed.
_______________________________
Luckily, Y/N came when Miss Callis was home.
"Y/N, what are you doing here?!" She asked startled.
"I just wanted to get some things off my mind," Y/N stated. "Do you mind if I come in?"
"Of course not! Come on in!" She said, pulling Y/N in and sitting her down on a stool.
"Luckily, I was able to get myself some new tea recipes," Callis said, bringing the teakettle onto the table with empty white cups, beautifully decorated with swirls of S/F/C and gold.
She carefully set up the the table before pouring in the brown dewy tea, which released a sweet yet spicy aroma.
Y/N leaned in to get a better smell, "It smells like coffee but sweeter."
"Oh yes! It's similar to that, it's called Chai Tea- also known as Indian Tea," Callis said.
"Where'd you get Indian Tea? I don't see these in markets," Y/N said, blowing into the tea and sipping.
Callis only smiled, "Now, what was it that made you come all this way?"
Y/N stopped, setting her tea down as she stared at it swirl into clouds, "I had a bad dream."
"About?"
"A lot of things, but there's one important one that worried me a lot. It's not much but, last night, I had a dream of being vulnerable in my own room. It was like I was awake, you know? But I couldn't move nor could I control it. It seemed so real, even the monster- thing whatever it was!" Y/N said, waving her hands at the last part.
Callis furrowed her eyes as she put her hands on her chin in a thinking matter, "Mmm. . . sleep paralysis?"
"Maybe," Y/N mumbled.
"It could be that, or it could be due to stress. Our minds often confuse us when we worry, but do not fear, if you keep getting those kinds of dreams, talk to me. I'll see what I can do," Callis said. Y/N nodded reluctantly.
"Don't worry," Callis sighed, patting Y/N's shoulder. "We'll get Agatha and Sophie back, one way or another."
But Y/N already knew that was a lie. Not once in history, children had ever came back after being kidnapped- what would make this year different?
"you..." a voice whispered.
Y/N jumped at the sound of an unrecognized voice.
"What's wrong, Y/N?" Callis asked worried.
Y/N only continued to search around in her seat, the sound of "you" or "you are" repeated over and over again like a broken record.
Y/N got up from her seat, "I'm not feeling well, so I need to go home."
"But-" Callis started but Y/N was already running off.
The voices followed her, nagging her head.
"Shut up!" Y/N shouted frighten. The voices stopped and Y/N sighed in relief.
'I thought I was going mad,' Y/N sighed.

This chapter, I felt like was shorter than the rest because it was a little rushed. 😭 I also tried to make the dreaming scary but I don't think it was that scary 🤣 There's probably alt of spelling mistakes but I'll check those when I have time, maybe soon.
Oh but fun fact! The dreams and voices were inspired from the experiences I had 😩🤣 even though it wasn't exactly the same thing.
