~No one's P.O.V~
"B-But I thought you were defeated by the Demon King!" King shouted up at the Fairy, "Weren't you taken down during that battle 3,000 years ago?!"
"Are you from the Fairy race, too?" Gloxinia turned to the current King of the Fairies, his rainbow wings spread widely behind him.
"Just answer my question!"
"What you need to do is win this competition." Gloxinia responded, putting a smile on his lips as he did, "Then, if you wish for it, I'll tell you whatever you want." King gritted his teeth, about to yell at the Fairy once more.
However, he closed his eyes and lowered himself to the ground, deciding it would be for the best for everyone present to move on.
"All right, then!" Gloxinia moved on, speaking louder for everyone to hear him clearly, "Time to get this Great Fighting Festival started! Taizoo, you're up!"
"What's he doing here?" Meliodas asked no one in particular when the bald man walked up from behind the Giant to stand beside Gloxinia.
Ban walked up beside him with a lazy grin on his lips, "This might be fun! The only reason I'm even here is because of her," Ban glanced to Y/n, who petted Yakul's back while looking up at the people on the boulder, "Maybe I'll give this a shot too."
"Welcome, you bunch of savages, starving for a fight! The opening bout will be a two-man tag match! Are you ready?!" Much to Taizoo's disappointment, everyone remained quiet, "Oh, man... Tough crowd. N-Now then-"
"Wait a moment!" A shout cut Taizoo off. Y/n pulled Escanor towards her by the back of his shirt, saving him a second before Gowther landed where he stood a moment before, "Because Gowther has arrived!"
"Gowther? That name sounds familiar." Drole muttered, looking down at him.
M-Miss Y/n! Thank you for saving me!" Escanor smiled at her as she let go of his shirt. She smiled, "No problem, Sunshine."
Sighing at the sight, Gloxinia turned to Drole with his arms crossed, "Now then, Drole, please divide them into groups."
Drole lifted all four of his arms, "Two people per team, right?" He asked shortly before he clasped his hands together in front of him, "Divining Board Spell!"
At the shout, the ground cracked around everyone before the large pieces torn free from the ground began rising higher and higher into the air with two individuals on them, "Those standing on the same floating stone now are comrades-in-arms chosen by fate. Trust each other with your very lives, and fight with everything you've got!" Drole advised wisely.
"Comrades... You mean teammates, right?" Meliodas asked, having more meaning behind the word 'comrades' than to have a one-time battle with someone.
Ban placed his hand on top of Meliodas' head, "Yo, Cap'n. What do you say we kick a little butt?" Meliodas grinned, and the two high-fived, "Yeah!"
"You're going to drag a child into this?!"
"Diane!"
"Wait, seriously? You know me too?!"
"Yes! I look forward to working with you!"
"I only came down here to deliver some alcohol... My luck has gone from bad to worse..."
"I don't know about that!" Escanor turned his head around, seeing Y/n standing behind with a cheeky smile, "Seems pretty lucky if you ask me!"
"Wait. Where's Guila? I thought you were together."
"Oh. She already dumped me."
"That was fast."
"There. Good boy."
"You four might as well join in as well." Gloxinia spoke to the four blue demons.
Excited to fight. One landed by a Knight standing alone. Two others landed by each other on one of the levitating platforms, and the last landed alone on another one.
"Huh? Let's bring in the substitutes as well." Gloxinia waved his hand, and from the ground came a huge figure of Drole, and beside him, a smaller figure of Gerheade.
"An odd number, if we had one more, that would bring us up to a total of 18 groups." Gloxinia muttered, cupping his chin.
"IF YOU NEED ONE MORE, I CAN GET ONE FOR YA!!" Y/n, who had cupped both sides of her mouth, yelled up loudly, having heard the Fairy's mutter.
He hummed, "Do so, thank you very much."
Y/n smirked. She closed her eyes and took a deep breath. A few seconds passed by before a golden glow started to emit from her.
With her eyes still closed, she placed her hand on top of her chest before drawing it back seconds later with a golden orb above it.
She smiled and opened her eyes. Using her other hand, she gave it a small poke and the glow turned brighter, blinding everyone currently looking.
Then. It stopped. And in place of the orb stood a boy. Around the age of sixteen, "Haku. I need a little bit of help." Y/n spoke to the green-haired boy, the two looked at each other, both ever so slightly transparent if you looked closely.
"I'm happy to help." Haku gave a small smile in return, turning to where he knew Y/n wanted to be. In a matter of a second, Haku stood on the platform with the lone demon, sending him a small smile.
"We'll now start the tag match with our 18 teams! Each pair of you will find yourselves in a random arena, and the other pair that also arrives there will be your first-round opponents!"
"Wait, eighteen? That doesn't add up?" Y/n frowned, looking around before her eyes spotted another levitating platform, "I did not expect... That."
There stood the two girls, Elaine and Elizabeth side by side. Soon to be paired up with someone else, "Ah, I'm sure Elaine's got that. Right? Right." Y/n gave herself a nod, choosing to think positively while she proceeded to look for the one she cared for more than any other.
Her true lover and best friend ever.
Yakul.
"Ah." She blinked, seeing the red elk standing beside none other than Hawk. The two animals stepped into the arena where Haku and a Blue Demon already stood, "Okay. So we just need Yakul to win this then." She tapped her chin, looking down at Haku.
He looked back up at her. Despite being separated from her body, it wasn't like he couldn't hear her thoughts and spoke in them as well.
"Rule one of the Great Fighting Festival is... All weapons, Magical Powers, and underhanded tactics are absolutely permitted." Gloxinia explained the first rule with his eyes closed and a small smile on his lips. He crossed his arms as he kept going, "Second rule, to win, you must either kill the other team, neutralize them, or force them out of the arena."
"Gloxinia!" Y/n shouted up at the Fairy, gaining his attention which he showed by lazily opening his eyes, "Elizabeth and Elaine aren't a part of this!"
While she knew how capable Elaine was in battle in the past, she'd rather not take any chances. It would be different if she and Elizabeth were with others, but as it stood now, Elaine was fragile, and Elizabeth had no experience on the battlefield.
If she could get them out of the battle, she didn't know. But that wouldn't stop her from trying.
"Unfortunately, the minute they set foot in the maze, they were both considered participants." Gloxinia replied with a mischievous smile.
Y/n's lips pulled into a snarl at that, and she blasted right by Escanor towards the edge of the arena. Gloxinia's smile only grew as a small laugh left him. To stop Y/n's approach, he had long, thorned vines sprout by the edge, squirming wildly around while waiting for the girl to come closer.
She skidded to a stop instead.
"Third rule." Gloxinia got higher into the air, making eye contact with Y/n above the green vines, "Forfeiting a match is strictly forbidden."
"Y/n!" Elizabeth called out, gaining Y/n's attention in a heartbeat, "It's alright! Please don't worry about me! I just want you to focus on yourself right now!"
"Don't worry about either, Y/n! Listen to Elizabeth, just concentrate on your own battle, okay?!" Despite the irritated look in her eyes, Elaine the sharp exhale as she silently agreed.
"How do you know my name?" Elizabeth asked the Fairy, who giggled in response before flying up above her, turning upside down, "Whenever I used to go peeking at Y/n and Ban, I'd see Meliodas and I'd see you, too! Right by her side."
"You did?" Elizabeth asked, her eyes widening a bit, "That means..."
"My name's Elaine. Nice to meet you!" She greeted, causing the two to laugh softly between the two.
Y/n looked down at the arena where Yakul and Hawk were fighting Haku and a Blue Demon. While Hawk was attacking a 'helpless' Haku with his Rolling Ham Attack, Yakul had his focus on the flying Blue Demon, who appeared to be missing a limb already.
Make sure to take it easy, Haku.
At the message sent into his mind, Haku looked from Hawk and up at Y/n with a smile. He closed his eyes and nodded sweetly before the pig hammered into the side of his head, knocking him down.
I'll make sure to let Piggy win. But do not go too far yourself.
"Brother, when it comes to killing women and children, I can't bring myself to do it." One of the two masked men in the same arena as Elizabeth and Elaine told his older brother.
The taller of the two pushed his purple cape back a bit, revealing two knives attached to a brown belt, "For an assassin, having a meal and killing Humans is the same thing." He pulled them from his belt, charging at the two women with no remorse for what he was about to do, "It happens every day!"
As the masked assassin got closer to the two, Elaine furrowed her eyebrows and turned from her giggly chat with Elizabeth. She held her palm open towards the man, sending a power twirl of wind at him, which blasted him back across the arena before he skidded to a stop by the very edge, "You're right. It does happen every day." Elaine spoke, the wind from her attack blowing her blonde hair back.
"What...?" The younger of the two assassins whispered to himself, confused as to how the little girl heard their conversation.
"As Saint and Guardian of the Fairy King's Forest, I'm used to going up against Humans just like you." She announced, her hand still prepared if they went for another attack.
"Brother!" The assassin turned around and ran back to his brother, who pushed himself to get up on his knees, "Did she say Saint of the Fairy King's Forest?" He asked as he slowly got up on his feet.
"Elaine! You're amazing!" Elizabeth exclaimed, making the Fairy lower her hand and turn to her. Out of curiosity, Elaine read Elizabeth's mind, which repeated the words that she had just uttered, making her giggle.
"Elizabeth, you're every bit the pure-hearted soul that I imagined. A truly honest and wonderful girl!"
"Y-You really think so?"
"Yes!"
Elizabeth couldn't help but to smile, "I'm so glad this happened! I've always wanted to find out what you were like! Ever since Y/n first told me about you!" She placed her hands together in front of her, "Now that I have, you're just so wonderful!"
"Oh," Elaine giggled, "You mean "Who-knows-what-she's-thinking" Y/n, right?" She asked cheerfully, not aware of the pouring girl listening in on the conversation.
Elizabeth lifted her hand in front of her mouth to stop herself from giggling but she agreed nonetheless, "Very much so."
Y/n's mouth dropped open dramatically in betrayal. How dare they? Y/n huffed and crossed her arms like a kid who refused to listen.
"So, why did you all come to Vaizel?" Elaine asked, gaining Y/n's full attention. That way, maybe she could get the answer to that as well, "Did you get dragged into that maze like the others?"
"Not quite." Elizabeth shook her head, "I guess you could say we came here on a mission. Now that the Ten Commandments have been released from their seal, we're ready to stop them." Elizabeth stated, looking towards the two Commandments in the middle of the entire festival, " Also..."
She turned her gaze back to Elaine, " Meliodas said... That it kinda sounded like fun!" That made Elaine drop to the floor dramatically.
"Y-You know, Y/n would probably say the exact same thing!" Elaine said, making the Princess look up at the said girl, who was looking at Yakul's, Hawk's, and Haku's battle.
The Blue Demon had been killed long ago, and now, Haku was just stalling.
"But I think we came here for another reason as well..." She voiced, trailing off as she glanced towards Meliodas.
"And what's that?" Elaine hummed, tilting her head to the side a tiny bit.
"I think Meliodas missed Y/n." She looked back at Elaine with sad eyes, "And I think he regrets a lot of things he said to her. That has to be a part of why we're here at least!" She added the last part with a small smile.
The two stopped their conversation while three white balls rolled up by their feet. They looked in down at them in time as they exploded, thick smoke filling the air around them, "It's a smokescreen!" Elaine shouted to Elizabeth, who she could no longer see while coughing.
"Elaine... Run!" Elizabeth shouted back, feeling the smoke slowly begin to burn in her lungs as she inhaled it.
"Forgive me, young miss." A voice echoed slightly in the smoke. The sound of a whip slashing through the air coming from behind Elizabeth, "For the sake of our people, the Malachia, we need you to die! Viper Whip!"
The snake-whip was lashed towards Elizabeth, latching onto her shoulder, its fangs bit into it. Y/n's eyes widened when the girl gasped and let out a short scream before she was pulled to the ground.
"Brother! I took care of one of them!"
"That just leaves that saint or whatever." The other responded, entering the thick smoke.
"Elizabeth! Please answer me, Elizabeth!" Elaine looked around for the Princess but with no luck of finding her.
"I've got you!" The older assassin appeared behind the Fairy with his knife ready for her back. However, his knife struck the ground instead, making his yellow eyes widen beneath his white mask, "But how? She couldn't have seen me... I attacked from behind!"
"If you're going to take me on," Elaine spoke, making the assassin turn his head to look over his shoulder and high up into the air, where Elaine glared down at him, "You'll have to conceal your body... As well as your mind. Imperial Wrath of the Golden Wind!" The blast from the air attack did send debris off the arena as well as causing dust to rise.
The man was blasted straight down into the ground with no remorse from the Fairy.
"Brother!" The younger assassin was revealed as the dust started to clear, holding his brother close to him, "I don't want you to die! Please!"
"H-How are you still alive?!" The man cradled his brother closer to himself when Elizabeth approached them, almost as if he had seen a ghost, "The poison should've spread through your body and killed you by now!"
"Move aside." Was the only response Elizabeth came with. The assassin moved back a bit hesitantly, allowing the girl to get down on her knees by his older brother.
She placed on hand between his shoulder blades, lifting his upper body a bit off the ground while she held her other hand above him.
The man's hair fell down, revealing his dark brown hair while a golden glow started to form around Elizabeth's upper hand, reaching down to the man.
Any scratches or wounds visible on the man's skin slowly started to fade away, filling into nothing but a past pain, going as far as to fill the man with comfort he hadn't felt in what felt like decades, "It feels so... Warm."
"Brother!" The younger one almost cheered at the sound of his brother's voice.
"Let him rest for a while." Elizabeth looked at the younger one with a friendly smile while she laid his brother back down on the ground.
"R-Right!" He nodded, quickly crouching down by his brother's side.
"Elizabeth... What made you want to help him?"
"For many generations, the Kingdom of Liones and the nation of Malachia were great allies. But a year ago, the two Grandmasters of Liones violated the peace treaty. And in the battle that followed, Malachia was destroyed." Elizabeth told the blonde Fairy, lowering her gaze to the ground in front of her feet, the bangs of her silver hair covering both of her eyes.
"Who are you...?" The young assassin asked her, knowing very well of how few knew that tale. For many did not even believe it to be true till that day.
Slowly, Elizabeth shifted her eyes to look at the masked men, her showing blue eye glazed over with un-shed tears, "I'm the daughter of Bartra, the King of Liones, and my name's Elizabeth." She answered the man with a saddened smile.
"But are you sure?" Elaine hesitated, looking down at the masked men with a frown, "These Humans just tried to murder the two of us!" She spoke loudly, trying to get through to Elizabeth.
The Princess of Liones on the other hand only folded her hands behind her back, "I'm sure." She nodded and then proceeded to turn to face the Fairy with a wide, truthful smile, "So I have to help somehow."
"The winners are... The Elizabeth and Elaine team!" Taizoo announced loudly despite most of the people did not really bother to listen. Most were in the middle of their own battles.
"Princess Elizabeth..." The oldest of the two assassins sat up, still a little shaken up by the events, "I could never allow myself to be in your debt." He grunted, causing his brother to call out to him worriedly. He was exhausted and healing him must have taken some of the little energy he had left.
Elizabeth placed her hands on her knees, leaning down ever so slightly, "We can talk about it later. So just try to get some rest now, okay?" She tilted her head a bit with a smile.
"Maybe we should do what she says." One of the brothers noted just before the ground beneath their feet shook.
Elizabeth's and Elaine's eyes widened when the ground beneath the two brothers formed a deep hole, which the two fell straight into with no ground beneath them - obviously.
"I must ask those two losers to exit the competition immediately." Gloxinia explained with a smile, cupping his chin with his slim fingers.
Elizabeth fell to her knees where the hole had disappeared, "But... They..."
Y/n looked down at the girl with sad eyes while Elaine did her best to comfort her, "Don't cry, Elizabeth. You were great out there." A small smile formed, "You both were."
"The winners are... The Yakul and, uh, Piggy team!" Taizoo shouted, quickly reading the names from the paper he had folded in his hand.
Y/n turned to their arena as the transparent Haku slowly dusted away into golden dust. They swirled elegantly in the air, heading towards Y/n.
"Good job, Haku." She smiled, holding her hand out with her palm open. The golden dust slowly landed in her palm, giving its last bright glow before disappearing, getting reabsorbed into her body.
"I'LL TELL YOU THIS ONCE, BAN!" Meliodas' voice echoed through the entire place. He pointed an accusing finger at the Fox Sin of Greed, "NOBODY'S BETTER THAN YAKUL!!"
Ban sat up from the Blue Demon he appeared from on top of, "WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT?! MASTER'S THE BEST!!" Feeling the soft surface beneath him, Ban frowned, "Huh? Why is bird guy dead...?" He asked, looking down at the Blue Demon he sat on with curious eyes.
"Hey, look! Somewhere along the way, the other one died, too." Meliodas pointed to the other Demon with one arm torn off and blood spilling from its head.
"Ah, you gotta kiddin'! Don't tell me we're already done here." Ban scoffed in disappointment, getting up from his seat while talking.
"Oh, well." Meliodas shrugged when Ban got up beside him, "It's whatever. Guess Yakul and Hawk are lucky they didn't end up with those two, aren't they?" Meliodas asked, chuckling a bit to himself as he looked down at Hawk, who seemed to have used way more Rolling Ham Attacks than his body was able to.
"Even if they did, I doubt those wimps would've been a problem," Ban replied with a shrug, sighing through his nose.
"Taizoo, call the match, okay?" Gloxinia ordered without taking his eyes off of the two comrades.
"Ri-Right." Meliodas and Ban grinned as they fist-bumped, "The winners are, the Meliodas and Ban team!"
"That Meliodas, he's as strong as steel." Gloxinia took note. Not much seemed to have changed in his mind then, "Isn't he, Drole?"
"Yes. However, there is still some level of uncertainty remaining." The Giant replied with both sets of arms crossed over his chest.
"Guess that's true." Gloxinia responded, his dark eyes immediately landing on Y/n.
She stood still, her head tipped back to look up at the sky. What had once been clear and filled with the many stars of the night had now been blocked by the dark clouds, shadowing the small lights of the stars as well as what light the moon provided.
"Hmm..." The girl hummed in a tone that almost seemed sad to Gloxinia. The Fairy watched her closely as she looked around the arenas, watching some of her friends talk while others were finishing up their battles.
She smiled a bit as she lifted her eyes to look right back at him. She pulled on her shoulders, silently looking up at the Fairy and the Giant beside him.
"The time is running out..." Gloxinia mumbled, glancing to the Giant with his dark and unusual Fairy eyes, "Isn't it, Drole?"
The Giant watched as Y/n closed her eyes for a few seconds before turning to Escanor.
"I believe it is." Drole agreed in a quiet voice, which was unlike him. But he did want to make sure none other than Gloxinia was able to hear him.
"A promise is a promise." Y/n looked up from her book. She had spent the day in the library. No one ever really came there to spend any time so she would usually be alone in there. Which she enjoyed. Especially with the sound of the rain splattering on the ground outside of the room.
But of course, she could not get everything exactly as she wanted. That is why, when she saw Zeldris enter the library with his sword in his hand instead of attached to his hip, ready to take a seat, she wasn't surprised.
With her watching, Zeldris put his sword on the table before pulling his red sleeves up a bit to take his gauntlets off, "You promised you would tell me what that is," He started to explain, placing his gauntlets on the table, "I've decided that now is the time."
Finally, he took a seat right beside Y/n, turning his chair to face Y/n more than the table she was reading at before he sat down.
Y/n attempted to ignore the Demon Prince, but she did not succeed. Instead, she felt the gaze of the persistent Prince burn into the side of her head.
With a sigh of defeat, she closed the book she was reading. Which cued Zeldris to get ready to listen. She exhaled through her nose, leaning back into her chair, "Your father is going to kill." She muttered, making the Demon Prince smirk.
"You say that like he did not already try that." He said in an amusing tone. Y/n chuckled, pulling up her right sleeve.
"Your father would never kill me." She responded while unwrapping her bandage from the arm, revealing the dark marks traveling up her arm to her elbow, "This is the work of your father, the Demon King, and the Supreme Deity putting their power together." She explained, causing the Prince's expression to turn stern.
"But of course, it's demonic power." She added quickly as to not get the prince confused.
"I won't say I'm shocked. Father is not your biggest supporter." Zeldris replied, shuffling a bit in his seat to lean forward. He took Y/n's hand lightly in his own, dark eyes looking down at the markings on her arm while he played a bit with her fingers.
"Exactly. He hates me." Y/n grinned, "But he can't kill me."
Zeldris looked up from her arm, his eyes now a beautiful green color. He took a moment to take her expression in. She seemed relaxed but he knew better. What she was telling him now was something she had avoided talking about with anyone to his knowledge.
Not even his older brother.
"Why not?" He asked, making Y/n quirk a brow in curiosity, "Why can't he kill you?"
"It's not part of the plan he has." She shook her head. Taking his hand in her left one, she held it tightly, "When I was just a child, I got my Destiny told. Ahead of me is death. It became true in one way too quickly when my race was annihilated," She took a deep breath as the memories resurfaced, "But that's not quite it."
"Then... Does that mean that...?"
"I'm gonna die? Of course!" She stood up from the chair, "We all die at some point, Zeldris. This," She held her arm up, her eyes glaring at the marks on it, "Is your Father's ticket back to this realm."
Zeldris stood up quickly with his eyes widening, his chair falling over, bouncing slightly against the stone floor, "You... You mean that...?" He whispered as if afraid his father would hear.
A war was going on. And as it was, the Demon King couldn't be there for long without the Earth tearing itself apart.
"Yeah." She nodded. Lowering her arm. Zeldris' gaze was stuck on the floor, his eyes wide. Y/n placed her hand on his shoulder. She could feel it shaking a bit beneath her touch, "But it's also my ticket to get my family back."
She stumbled back, her arms lifted in the air and her eyes wide. Zeldris had engulfed her in a hug. He hid his face in her neck and his arms circled around her waist, pulling her closer to him, "Please..." He shook his head the little he could, "Does that mean you'll be gone..?"
Y/n lowered her arms, one hand found its way to his hair, which she combed through to make him relax a bit, the other pulled him close as well, and Zeldris knew what it meant. He gritted his teeth together, "No!"
He pulled away abruptly, shaking his head vigorously. Tears filled his otherwise beautiful eyes, "Let me help! I-I can find a way! I can figure something out!" He narrowed his eyes into what seemed more like a glare, "You don't get to do that!"
"There's no other way to bring them back, Zel."
"What's the point in bringing them back if you're not gonna be here?!" He let out a shaking breath, "Let me help."
Y/n crossed her arms, "I don't want you to be any more hurt than you are now." She answered, looking down when she felt Zeldris stare at her with wide eyes.
"It would hurt me so much more if you disappeared, and... And I would be left in the dark, knowing I could help." Zeldris spoke, carefully choosing his words, "Tell me every single thing. I don't care how long it will take. And then, let me help in any way I can."
The two stared at each other. Y/n gulped when a single tear finally slipped from Zeldris' left eye, slowly running down his cheek. She gritted her teeth.
"Fine. Let's begin then..."
