'Custard bun for Nobara. Meat buns for Panda. Another custard bun for Maki. Mountain dew and chips for Inumaki. Some soda and milk bread for me and Megumi.' (y/n) chanted in her mind as she stared at both the contents and the receipt she had, not wanting to return if ever she missed to buy something for someone.
Once sure that she's got everything she needed, she started her trek to the shady alleyway she grew to love all because no one dared to enter it. Whatever (s/n) did to prevent others from stepping foot in the alley was something that (y/n) had to give her props for.
(y/n) slightly swung the plastic bag in her clutch. A thought popped out of her mind as she decided to do what (s/n) recently told her about.
'You can teleport objects to you and away from you as long as you've touched it. You can only do that to objects though.' (s/n) told her when she called (y/n) while the latter served as a referee between Panda and Nobara.
Ever since (s/n) told (y/n) her about the other thing she could do with her ability, she started frequently using it.
The hairbrush was inside the bathroom? She uses her ability.
Maki misplaced her glasses? She uses her ability.
Nobara lost a hairpin? She uses her ability.
Her ability was that valuable to them that all of the second years along with Nobara, made her touch the stuff that they frequently lost. Hell, they even made her touch all their phones.
Speaking of phones, (y/n) conveniently left her phone in her room. Wanting to check whatever was going on in her phone, she teleported it to her palms which she placed inside the plastic bag so as to not draw attention.
(y/n) smiled at what she did. "Why did (s/n) have to tell me about it just this week." She muttered as her hand opened her phone.
A sudden meow made its way to (y/n) and right in front of her was a calico cat staring at her soul. The calico cat blinked at (y/n) before it went in a completely different direction from the alleyway.
(y/n) blinked at the cat who was already walking. The cat turned back to face (y/n) and it only started walking again when (y/n) decided to follow it.
The last time she followed a calico cat led her to being given a croissant, what bad would she get if she followed the cat that excreted a softer aura compared to what other cat's had?
And besides, she was stronger than a normal human which means that she was more than capable of beating people up if ever she encounters someone that'll attack her but she'll be damned if it was a sorcerer that'd attack her.
The cat's pace suddenly got faster and (y/n) decided to do the same. It looked like (y/n) was getting some cardio thanks to the cat.
The more (y/n) followed the cat, the more she was realizing that it was leading her somewhere and that somewhere was a school.
(y/n) halted as she furrowed her eyebrows, confused as to why the cat was leading her to such a place.
The cat noticed that (y/n) stopped walking. It came to walk over to (y/n) as it rubbed its body on her legs.
'Meow!' The cat tried its best communicating with (y/n) and it got her to laugh. She crouched down to give the cat a single pat on the head. "Lead the way."
As if the cat knew what (y/n) was saying, it continued walking and as (y/n) expected, it led her to a spot on the side of the school they were near.
Lots of bushes and trees were near the school's side and as (y/n) furthered the place, she started to hear a group of students talking to each other.
"I'm telling you, he looked at my boobs!" One of the students exclaimed which was then followed by boisterous laughter.
"No I didn't."
(y/n) was curious about what was happening. The cat started rubbing itself on (y/n)'s legs once again as it looked like it was pointing to somewhere.
Deciding to look at where the cat was pointing, (y/n) managed to see that there was a group of boys along with a girl standing over a boy who weakly sat on the floor.
The scene startled (y/n). "Disgusting." She muttered.
Though her voice was in a hushed tone, it still managed to reach the ears of the bullies. "Huh, who's there! Show yourself!" One of the boys yelled.
(y/n) was squatted down on the dirt as she gave the cat a single piece of milk bread. "You've done so much today. Thanks for showing me here, I promise I'll do something about this." She said. The cat blinked at her before it ran to god knows where with the bread in its mouth.
Placing a hand over the plastic bag she had, she used it to teleport it to their training grounds. What she was going to do would take a while and it would be a shame if the drinks she bought came to room temperature.
(y/n) slightly stood up from behind the bush and the tree she was hiding on. Her eyes landed on the border between the school's stone and wire wall.
The whole place was deserted and if she had to guess, it was because it was still class time.
Taking the opportunity of the place having few people, she decided to use her ability to teleport on top of the stone wall on the far corner of the school. It was far from where the bullies were which was why (y/n) wasn't nervous.
One of her arrows exited the pocket of her skirt. (y/n) didn't know why, but she decided to use the agency's uniform on that day... alright, maybe she missed wearing the combo.
As she descended down on the school grounds, the arrow shrunk as it made its way back to (y/n)'s pockets.
She silently made her way to the group of students and there they were, still trying to antagonize the poor boy who sat on the floor.
"Oi," She called out to the group. The students turned their head to face (y/n) who didn't have her usual smile on. There were just times where her patience with people met its limit.
She didn't particularly have any bad incidents during the week, but seeing oh-so-pathetic people bullying someone was a sight for sore eyes. Sure, she knew that bullying was a thing, but with the strength she had, she wanted to use it against people like them.
The buffest guy out of the group, not as buff as Todo though, made his way to where (y/n) stood. He held his head up high as if he had something to be proud of.
He had a smug smile on his face."What's up sweet cheeks?"
(y/n) visibly contorted her face into one that showed pure disgust. The guy's hand was about to land on her shoulder and all she could do was tightly grasp it.
Her grasp might've been more than tight. "What the fuck you circus freak!" The guy retreated as his hand was near from getting completely decimated.
(y/n) honestly felt guilty that she used more force than she wanted to, but she knew he deserved it. "What's up with you lots?" She asked, starting to walk near the group.
The only girl of the group was the one that spoke up. "It was him!" She pointed to the one that was on the floor. "He was staring at my boobs!" Small tears poured from her eyes as she cried. y/n would have believed her if only she didn't leak such a condescending aura.
Those who surrounded her came quickly to her aid. All except for (y/n) and the boy, of course.
"Darling, I work for a detective agency. Can you atleast do a bit better with lying?" (y/n) gave the girl a close-eyed smile as she placed a hand on her shoulders.
The once sad look on the girl's face suddenly fell as it was replaced by one of anger. "How... you're lying!"
That just goes to show that the girl was actually lying. How pathetic of her to fall in (y/n)'s trap.
"No, you're the one who's lying." (y/n) smiled. She crouched down to take a look at the boy on the ground.
His wounds... his wounds were much more awful than (y/n) expected it to be. It was probably worse than the ones she and Nobara got during the detainee block mission.
She shook her head, clicking her tongue. "You guys did this?" She asks, standing up from her spot.
The bullies didn't seem to have one ounce of guilt and regret in their body as they proudly confirmed. "What about it?" One of them spoke up.
(y/n) chuckled. It was funny that people who didn't care for others existed. It was funny how someone would lie just to see someone get beaten up.
"I work at an agency that partners up with the police and aside from that, some of my friends have connections with a juvenile prison and if you want your pathetic little teenage lives to go on, I suggest you fuck off right this instant." The smile that (y/n) used whenever she was overly irritated was on her face.
The look on the students' face was comedy gold. The colors on their face seemed to drain at the words that exited (y/n)'s mouth.
The girl shook her head. "I'm going to tell daddy about-"
"We are a private organization who does not take shit from the likes of people like you. Even if you call your daddy to protect you, he won't be able to do so," Again, (y/n) placed a hand over the girl's shoulder as she gave her a close-eyed smile. "Now, fuck off."
The boys' eyes twitched as they looked at (y/n)'s hand which was placed over the girl's shoulder. "Don't touch her!" Another one of them angrily yelled.
As expected, (y/n) managed to defend herself as all it took was a single push from her for the boy to fall down on the floor. The boy was lucky that (y/n) used the bare minimum of her strength.
(y/n) started to roll up her sleeves to her elbows. "How many more times do I have to tell you guys..." She started. "Fuck off because if you aren't going to do that, I'll make sure that you guys end up with more than just a broken hand."
An ominous aura was getting out of (y/n) and what did she do? She flaunted it to make sure that even the mere students could feel her aura. With one last glance from (y/n), they all ran away from the scene.
(y/n)'s once tense shoulders fell as the girl and her lackeys were finally gone. (y/n) finally got to check up on the boy who's been quiet.
She crouched to meet the boy's eyes. "My name's (y/n)," She introduced herself. "I'm not going to do anything to you unless you give your consent... and oh, I forgot to ask for your name as well."
"Is that what Leorio told me to say?" (y/n) thought out loud.
The boy laughed at how the girl he saw suddenly turned into someone who cared about first-aid procedures. "Junpei Yoshino... I'd really appreciate it if you help me." He said, a small smile was on his face.
(y/n) smiled and nodded. "Alright then, hop on!" She said, showing her back with her hands waiting for him to climb onto it.
"Is it... is it really okay?"
"Of course! Don't worry, I'm strong enough to carry you. You'll probably just be as light as a feather to me!" (y/n) reassured Junpei as she knew that it was what he needed after being in a not-so-good situation.
Junpei didn't know why, but he trusted (y/n) more than anyone in his school. Hell, he even trusted her more than the school nurse who'd always shoo him away whenever he got beaten up.
His school was that much of a garbage.
Weakly, Junpei hopped onto (y/n)'s back. "Is this okay?" He asked, not wanting to make (y/n) uncomfortable.
"Alrighty then!" (y/n) explained as she stood up and started walking though she quickly stopped when she realized something. "Is there a back exit here or something? I kind of climbed the fence to get in..."
Silently chuckling, Junpei meekly nodded. He pointed just around the corner of where they stood. "There's a wire gate there, but I think it's locked."
██████████
(y/n) looked at her notes app in concentration as she read all of the text that Leorio typed in it. (y/n) was grateful that the man took his time putting in what she needed to do in case someone got badly hurt.
With furrowed eyebrows she followed every instruction there was and in the end, (y/n) did a better job of patching up Junpei than she expected. She could've brought him to Shoko but that would be risking the identity of their school... well that and if she actually did that, then she'd most likely choose to use her ability which was just plain stupid for her to do.
They both sat at a bakery cafe that was near the convenience store that (y/n) frequented at and (y/n) was thankful that (s/n) told her about the whole teleporting objects agenda. It was more than a useful ability that day since she discreetly managed to teleport her first aid kit to her.
"There we go..." (y/n) trailed off, squinting her eyes as she inspected her job, wanting to see whether there was anything that she did wrong.
Junpei looked at the bandages that (y/n) placed on him. He appreciated what the girl did considering that she stood up for a stranger like him. "This is... thank you." He thanked the girl.
(y/n) smiled at him, he looked like he was going to be a good friend and she didn't know why the students decided to pick him as their prey. "No problem!"
All of a sudden, (y/n) got a call and when she looked at the screen of the phone the name pretty girl was displayed in big bold letters with Nobara's picture in the background. (y/n) answered the call without hesitation.
"Where are you? The snacks you bought came but you aren't even here." Nobara asked and in the background (y/n) could hear Maki reprimanding Panda to take a bath.
"I'm near the store where I bought the snacks..." (y/n) trailed off, thinking for a second whether she should tell Nobara why she still hasn't returned. "I'm with someone right now, but I promise I'll be back at..." (y/n) paused looking at the clock of the cafe but she resorted to asking Junpei.
"What time do your classes finish?" She whispered.
Junpei looked confused with the question. "2 in the afternoon." He answered.
"I'll be back at 2:15 sharp," (y/n) finally replied, which got a sigh from Nobara. (y/n) wasn't going to take part in the sister school event which meant that training would be just a choice to her, she didn't need to participate with the training and Nobara understood that well.
(y/n)'s done enough to help them train for the past week and by help, it consisted of her antagonizing most of them with the use of her arrows while she maniacally laughed sitting on an arrow in the air.
"Sure but can you buy me some salonpas? Shoko said she ran out today." Nobara grumbled.
(y/n) chuckled as she knew well what happened. "You got thrown again?"
"Yes! And Inumaki was just staring at me! If you were here your arrows could've saved me from falling."
"Alright alright, I got it. I'll be going now."
"Oh, and one last thing. Maki and I want one of those custard buns again. Bye!"
A faint smile was left on (y/n)'s face after her call with Nobara. She placed her phone back in her pockets before returning her eyes on Junpei who quickly diverted his attention from (y/n) to the window that overlooked the street just outside of the cafe.
With his eyes glued on the people going by the cafe, he asked (y/n). "Why'd you ask about my school's dismissal time?"
"Well... if it isn't much, I'd like to walk you home!" (y/n) offered as she finished what's left of the coffee jelly she bought.
Junpei's eyes slightly widened, surprised. "You what?"
"I'll walk you home. There's a chance that the scumbags earlier would be ganging up on you if you go home alone,"
"That's too much. Patching me up is enough," Junpei shook his head at the offer though that decision was quickly changed when he saw (y/n)'s shoulder fall. Her hands that once scooped the coffee jelly she ate from the cup was just playing with the remaining dessert.
Junpei placed a hand over his face before removing it. "I guess that's okay... I mean if you really want to then-"
"Great! Come on, dismissal time's about to come!"
██████████
(y/n) stood by the entrance of Junpei's school. Her left hand clutched onto the first-aid kit she had while the other was busy tapping away on her phone, looking at the photos she had from the previous dimension she went to.
Students started pouring out of the school as a bell, familiar to (y/n), rang all throughout the school to signal the end of their classes.
The first few minutes of dismissal was quiet but after that, most of the students came rushing out alone or with a friend. All of them happily chatted with their friends as they made plans with each other.
Glancing at the students, a small smile made its way to (y/n) as it reminded her of the very same day that her adventure began.
A soft aura made itself known to (y/n) and when she glanced up from her phone, there she saw Junpei. "Hey!" (y/n) waved at the boy, earning Junpei's attention as he started to look flustered with all of the students that stared at him.
He quickly made his way to (y/n) who placed her phone back in her pockets. Not wanting it to be a distraction in case something goes wrong.
"Hey," Junpei meekly said.
(y/n) brightly smiled at him. "Lead the way to your house, good sir." (y/n) gestured to a certain direction, earning a laugh from Junpei.
"My house is actually that way," Junpei then proceeded to point in a completely different direction that (y/n) was pointing at.
"Oops." (y/n) sheepishly laughed as all she could do was follow Junpei as he already started walking.
As both were walking towards wherever Junpei lived at, (y/n) quietly followed him all while humming a random tune so that they won't be wrapped in an awkward air.
Junpei was already starting to see his house considering that it was near the school, and just before they fully arrived. He asked a question. "You're really okay with this?"
(y/n) raised an eyebrow. How could he even ask that when she was already walking with him? "Yes, and besides, I don't really get to roam Tokyo that much ever since I moved here."
"You just moved here?" Junpei asked, honestly surprised.
"Mhmm and it's for school purposes. My sister wanted me to move here because she wants to keep an eye on me." (y/n) knew she was sharing way too much despite all of it being lies.
"Then what about the detective agency you talked about?"
"I just interned there for a while. My sister said that I can work there full time if I finish school and all,"
The whole question and answer conversation was something that (y/n) enjoyed though most of it were impromptu lies, but at least it made sense for the most part.
Junpei finally stopped at a specific house and (y/n) scanned her eyes over it. The house was definitely nice which meant that (y/n) didn't have to worry that Junpei had problems at home.
"I guess this is my stop then,"
(y/n) simply nodded. She bid her goodbye before going the direction where she assumed the school was.
Just before she completely got away, Junpei called out to her. "(y/n)!"
The mentioned girl turned to face him. "Yes?"
"Since you're new here and stuff... Can I show you around? You know as a thanks for patching me up and stuff." Junpei asked, scratching the nape of his neck as he awaited for (y/n)'s answer.
(y/n) walked back to him and once she was back, she showed him her number. Junpei looked surprised with what (y/n) was doing as he didn't expect her to fully accept his offer.
He fumbled to get his phone out and once he did, he typed out the number on (y/n)'s phone before he sent a text.
The phone in (y/n)'s hand made a ding and when (y/n) looked at it, there was a text message on her screen. Hey it read followed by a smiley emoticon. She could only assume that it was from Junpei.
"Just tell me when it's gonna be, I'll make my schedule clear for that day." (y/n) smiled.
All was good until, who (y/n) assumed was Junpei's mom, called out to the boy. "Junpei! You're back early..." She suddenly burst out of the house, her eyes landing on the girl who stood beside her son. "A friend? This is the first time I've seen you bring one home. Dear, do you want to have dinner with us?" She asked, beckoning the girl over
Junpei looked embarrassed and (y/n) laughed at it. "I still have something to attend to, Mrs. Yoshino. But I'll be sure to stop by if I have the time!"
One last glance at Junpei, (y/n) actually bid her goodbye. "I'll see you next time."
