A/n: Very Important!
I made a new story for my TikTok story. It's called "The Hufflepuff with a reputation". Because of this I cannot post a chapter for all four of my stories a week. So I have made a new posting system. It is
Week 1: More than Friends, A Hufflepuff with a reputation
Week 2: The Lone Wolf, Hidden within the stars
Enjoy the chapter :)
Y/n's POV:
The bag was fully packed, I was clean and ready to go. All I had to do was change the babies.
As far as newborns go, James and Oliver are really good babies, they haven't cried too much although I was up all night admiring their little scrunched up faces and perfect button noses. I have already noticed a few differences between James and Oliver Weasley. Oliver cries slightly more and has a small bump in his nose whereas James is more calmer than his younger brother and he has a few more freckles across his nose than Oliver.
"They really are perfect." I smiled to my fiancé as I had James bundled in my arms and Fred had Oliver held in his arms.
"The twins are beautiful, and they look just like you." Fred smiled widely to me, planting a kiss on Oliver's forehead.
"They have your hair, the iconic Weasley hair." I smiled, gently running my fingers through James' hair.
At that moment there was a small knock at the door to my room at the hospital. It slowly opened to reveal Maria with a smile planted across her face.
"Good afternoon Y/n, how are you and the babies?" She asked, coming to stand at the foot of my bed holding her clipboard and a quill.
"I'm feeling great and the babies are good I think." I lightly laughed.
"All I need to do before you two can take your beautiful babies home is to quickly examine you and that babies to make sure you three are fit to go home." She told me.
"Sounds good with me. I can't wait to get them home they have their room ready." I replied as Fred handed me Oliver so he can make sure we have everything packed.
About 30 minutes have passed and Maria had individually examined James, Oliver and then me. As we waited for her results, I changed both James and Oliver's nappies and changed them both into matching white baby grows with small animals embroidered all over it, and placing little white hats on their heads to cover their ginger hair.
"Everything is perfect, I'm going to discharge you and the twins which means you four are welcome to go home." Maria smiled widely.
"Thank you so much for everything Maria." I said as I got up and hugged my midwitch.
"You are very welcome Y/n, it was amazing to have you as one of my patients." Replied Maria. "Can I introduce you to you're home visitor who will come over and do checks on the babies every few weeks?"
"Okay, that's fine." I said. Whilst Maria was out I quickly changed out of my hospital gown and into leggings and a Weasley jumper. I sat back onto the bed and held both my babies close to me.
Home visitor walked into the room with a wide and happy smile on her face. She had light brown hair that fell to her shoulders matched with a fringe. She seemed quite tall and wore a nice set of blue scrubs.
"Hello, I'm Claire." She said warmly to me, holding her hand out to me which I took before doing the same thing to Fred.
"Hello Claire, I'm Y/n." I greeted with a warm smile.
"And I'm Fred, Y/n's fiancé." He introduced with a smile as he took James from my chest so hold his oldest son close to him.
"It's a pleasure to meet you both. I'm your home visitor, so it's my job to come to your house and check how your beautiful babies are developing." She told us as well as handing me a leaflet of what her job is and what Claire will be checking when she comes over.
"That sounds great!" I smiled as I quickly scanned over the leaflet but having to stop when Oliver began to cry sightly so I went to comfort him.
"Do you mind showing us your patronus, just so we can make sure it's actually you when you come to visit." Fred asked politely, gently swaying James side to side.
"Of course I can. I was about to show you both anyway." Claire smiled before pulling out her wand. "Expecto Patronum!"
Suddenly, a silvery blue mist appeared which slowly began to form a beautiful figure of a Hare, it gracefully bounced around the large hospital room before finally settling back into Claire's wand.
"It's beautiful." I said, swaying Oliver from side to side.
"Thank you, and now you have seen that. I'll be coming to visit on February 13th when your babies are six weeks old." Said Claire as she made a quick note onto her clipboard and using her wand to make a copy to give to me.
"Thank you, I'll look forward to see you." I replied to her. Claire nodded before saying our goodbyes to allow us to get ready to leave.
As Fred was packing up the room to make sure that we had everything packed, I changed James' nappy and placed both the babies gently into their carriers. Both twins were happily asleep which gave me time to change out of the hospital robes and into a comfy pair of leggings and a jumper, I brushed my hair and tucked it behind my ears before slipping into my shoes and with the help of Fred, stood up off the bed.
"Are you okay love?" Fred asked as I balanced myself out of his arms.
"Never better, let's get these babies home!" I smiled as a reply.
"Let's go home then!" My fiancé said as he grabbed James' carrier in one hand and Oliver's in the other.
We thanked Maria and Claire for taking care of us. I was told to rest and not do anything too physically demanding for at least two weeks after the birth.
"Are we ready to go then?" I smiled to Fred after hugging Maria goodbye.
"Let's go!" Fred answered.
Fred held onto my hand to help me walk. We each carried a baby carrier each. I had Oliver in my hand and James' in Fred's hand. We walked out of the maternity ward as a family of four, it still seemed so surreal. We walked down to the chimneys and stood in the short line to exit the hospital.
"Weasley's Wizard Wheezes!" Fred called, and before I knew it, the familiar sicking feeling came to my stomach. It was much less severe than it was when I was pregnant and it was more pleasant.
The swirling feeling finally stopped and we stood in the fireplace that was in the office of the shop. It felt more homely and warm compared to the hospital.
"Welcome home James and Oliver." Fred whispered to both babies with a smile plastered across his face.
"Welcome home." I repeated, giving Fred a light kiss on the cheek.
"What are we waiting for. I'm sure George and Lee are waiting for us." Fred chuckled to himself, taking my hand and leading me towards the door of the office.
The shop was just as clean as it was before I gave birth, if anything it might have been more clean that it was before. Perhaps George and Lee wanted to clean it for the babies arrival. We walked up the stairs towards the flat. It's the fastest I've gotten up the stairs for a good four months.
"Ready?" Fred asked with a warm smile, placing his key into the door.
"As I'll ever be." I replied.
Fred turned the key, making the familiar unlocking sound. The door swung open and I was met with a sight I've never been before. In the living room was a large banner across the walls, with George and Lee standing each side with smiled wiped across both their faces. I looked up to see what the banner had read.
Welcome home James and Oliver!
"You two are crazy!" I squealed at the two, a light laugh escaping my lips.
"Only the best for our nephews." Lee exclaimed, rushing over to us to gush over the two babies who were peacefully sleeping in their carriers.
"What about us?" Fred asked. "Are we not welcome home?"
"Nope." George quipped, strongly pronouncing the 'P'.
"Thank you." I said sarcastically to the two. "If we're not welcome then we'll go somewhere else. With our babies."
"Okay okay! You can both stay!" Said Lee quietly, taking James' carrier off me. "Can I hold him?"
"Go wash your hands and then you can." I said to Lee, who bounded off happily to the kitchen. "You can hold Oliver, if you wash your hands George." I added, George following Lee to the kitchen.
"They get to hold them before us?" Fred whispered into my ear.
"We've had them for the past couple of days. Let George and Lee have a turn." I replied.
"Okay fine." Fred sighed as both George and Lee came back, placing themselves on the sofa.
I gently took a sleeping James from his carrier, holding him gently in my arms. Fred had done to the same to Oliver. I slowly gave James to Lee and moved his hands to the correct place. I watched as both George and Lee gushing over the babies in their hands, looking at their perfect little faces with large smiles on their face.
"Their so cute!" Lee softly said, moving his thumb across James' hair.
"Thank you Lee." I smiled at the sight of George and Lee already being great uncles to the twins.
"You two will be great uncles." Fred said as if he had just read my mind
"Who will be better?" George asked competitively.
"We're not having this conversation now, especially in front of the twins." I huffed with a slight giggle in my voice.
"Oh come on! Just because your parents now doesn't mean you can't have fun!" Lee groaned.
"Yes we can. But we've heard this debate for eight months. I really don't need to hear it again. Let's say you two will be equally good uncles. And that's the end of this debate." I rambled and it looked like for once, I actually talked some sense into George and Lee.
"Okay, I agree." George said.
"I agree too." Lee added after his boyfriend.
"Good, now can we have our babies back so we can get them ready for bed?" Fred asked.
George and Lee reluctantly handed over the twins into mine and Fred's arms. We said our good nights to George and Lee, leaving them to clean up the mess they had made. Me and Fred walked into the bedroom, whilst I was changing their nappies Fred was getting a pair of pyjamas for each baby. I quickly changed them and swaddled them in a light blanket. I smiled at the sight of them, I whipped out my Polaroid camera and took a photo of the two laying next to each other.
"You lay in bed. I'll get George or Lee to come on and take a picture of the four of us." Fred said, running out of the room and coming back a minute later with Lee tailing him.
Fred and I sat in our bed. Oliver was in my hands and James was in Fred's. Lee happily took a picture of us which turned out beautiful and I loved it. I gently laid Oliver and then James into a twin bassinet, I watched the two sleep peacefully in there.
"Come on love, let's go to bed." Fred said, pulling me into a laying position.
Fred wrapped his long arms around me, pulling me close to him. It felt nice to have to have Fred's arms stretch around my bump.
"Goodnight Y/n." Fred whispered into my ear.
"Goodnight Freddie, I love you." I replied happily.
"I love you two."
I closed my eyes and fell into a peaceful sleep, until the sound of screaming babies woke me at a hour later.
A/n: Happy Sunday! I hope you've all had a great week! I had some training yesterday which was quite boring but it was for something I volunteer for. I'm sorry I didn't publish last week, I was away on holiday in Devon which was very fun and relaxing. I hope the new change in publishing is okay, at least until this story ends. Have a great day :)
