Luke and Melody had been going through the motions of a typical high school couple for the past three months. (a/n: do u see what i did there i left for three months so this is what u get) There was a lot of kissing, cuddling, and almost sex. But whenever that would happen Luke would back off, and tell Melody that she didn't need to feel pressured and he would wait. So obviously, that would ruin the mood and they would go on with their day.
Prom was approaching and Melody was waiting for Luke to "prompose". She didn't want anything big, just a little sweet gesture because who didn't want to get promposed to. She didn't have a boyfriend last year for prom, so she wanted to take advantage of this.
Melody was currently in a stuffy prom dress shop, literally breaking her arms trying to push through the dresses covered in plastic to find her dream dress. Autumn and Nikki were with her of course, prom dress shopping alone was no good because you needed someone to tell you if you looked good or not. Autumn and Nikki were having a free for all with the dresses, and were basically having a competition on who could pick Melody's prom dress.
Mel was finally shoved into a dressing room with about twelve dresses. It was a grueling process, and she would hate every dress she tried on. She was about to lose all hope until a red dress was passed in to her. The second Mel slipped the fabric on her body she knew that this dress was the one. She stepped out of the dressing room to show her friends, with a huge smile on her face.
"You look hot," Nikki complimented her, looking her up and down. Autumn nodded her head, agreeing with Nikki completely.
Mel walked to a full body mirror and spun around a few times, and nodded her head. It was a deep red color, and the top was short sleeved and sheer with jewels lining the collar. It wasn't anything extravagant, but Melody felt pretty in it and that's what mattered.
"This is the dress!" She squealed.
"So Melody, do you say yes to the dress?" Autumn joked. Mel and Nikki rolled their eyes at her lameness.
Melody called a saleswoman over to get the dress taken care of, and before she knew it she was $340 poorer. She kept telling herself that it was senior prom and that it was okay because this was a big event in her life, and it would all be worth it in the long run.
The three girls started to walk back to Mel's car, so Melody took this as her chance to tell Luke about her dress.

Melody rolled her eyes at her phone, Luke would not drop the incident where he had walked in on her getting changed. She was wearing matching lace set, and he was drooling for a few hours about it.

The dress happens to be red so plan your boy tux suit thing accordingly I guess I don't know how this works

Nikki started talking, so Melody quickly looked away from her phone to hear what she was saying. They had also reached Melody's car, Nikki hoped in the passenger seat as usual while Autumn sat in the back.
"So how do you think Luke is going to prompose?" Nikki asked.
"I really don't know, I hope he does something though," Melody sighed. Prom was in about a month, and girls were already being promposed to left and right. It was something petty, but it was something everyone looked forward to during prom season.
"He'll do something, me and Nik can help him out," Autumn suggested, looking to Nikki to see if she agreed.
Nikki's eyes lit up and started furiously nodding her head, "That's such a good idea! You'll have the best promposal in the school with us working on it."
Melody thought about this for a moment, and their plan to help Luke could either go horribly or be great. She decided it would be funny either way, "I'll be waiting for it," Mel giggled.
"Do you think Calum is gonna go with Ali?" Autumn wondered out loud.
Cal and Ali had been with each other constantly over the past few months. It started off slow, but picked up it's pace very quickly. The crew they had barely even saw Calum anymore. Melody resented Ali for talking Calum, he was fun to be around and she had taken that away from Mel. On the other hand Mel was almost relieved that Ali was focussing all of her attention on Calum, because that meant she wasn't focussing on Luke anymore.
Melody nodded, "Yeah, why wouldn't he?"
Autumn shrugged, "He hasn't promposed yet. He seems like the type that would want to get it done with quickly because he's too impatient."
Mel laughed, she was right. Cal would definitely have been the first to prompose if he was going to take someone.
"Maybe he doesn't know what to do, like Luke," Nik offered, "but enough of them. So are you going to tell Luke about the whole project ugly thing soon?"
Melody still hadn't come clean to Luke about that or that she had kissed Ashton. She had kept putting it off, and wanted to drop one bomb on him at a time.
"I think after prom," Melody spoke, nervously. She didn't know why she was nervous, it wasn't really a big deal that she decided to do a little experiment for the year. If she had not have done the project the year would have still probably turned out the same. Then again, Luke could get mad because in a sense she was lying to him about who she really was; clothes are a form of expression.
"I think it will be fine," Autumn commented, "It's not like you were acting like a different person, it was just your clothes."
"Yeah, and if he does have a problem with it me and Autumn will beat him up," Nikki laughed.
"I hope he doesn't get mad. I still haven't told him about the Ashton thing, and I think that's going to really set him off," Mel groaned, gripping the steering wheel of the car tighter.
Nikki raised an eyebrow, "Why would he get mad over that, it happened in the past?"
"I don't think I ever told you the full story," Melody paused, Autumn and Nikki both shook their heads, "So I kissed Ashton at that party, and apparently at the time Luke liked me. So Luke and Ashton got into a fight for a while, and Luke was so pissed off about the whole thing that he started dating Ali to forget about it."
"So telling Luke that you don't really dress like this can lead it back to the crush and the Ashton thing," Nikki finished for Mel.
"Exactly," Melody sighed. This situation was literally a web of complicatedness, and everywhere you stepped you got more tangled and confused.
"I guess it's better if he knows, though," Autumn said, softly.
Melody knew it was better if Luke knew, but she didn't know how to tell him. She was scared of the backlash that would come with it. She didn't want Ashton and Luke to stop being friends again because of her. She also didn't want to lose Luke, she had some serious feelings for him. Losing him now would literally be like getting her heart ripped out and stomped on by an elephant.
"I know, I'm scared though," Mel confessed.
"We'll be here for you," Autumn told her.
"Always," Nikki finished.
Her friends were so corny, but they truly cared about each other and that was what counted.
