"Hello! My name is Beans! Please take a badge and keep it on you at all times!" A green blob, Beans apparently, says while holding out a badge with the number 82.
"Do I have to wear it or can I put it in my pocket?" I ask while grabbing the badge. It kinda ruins the outfit.
"That should be fine! Just don't lose it." Beans responded.
"Alright, thanks." I say before putting the badge in my pocket. I then start to look around. Everything looks how I expected it too, the overly strong men, the people with weird weapons, the fat guy walking towards me.
The fat guy walking towards me? "Hey there you must be new my names Tonpa!"
"Y/n." I respond before taking a sip of my drink. I wonder how he knows I'm new?
"I bet you're confused on how I know you're new!" Tonpa says, I swear some people are mind readers. "I'm an exam veteran basically! this is my thirty-fifth attempt!" That's not something to brag about.
"Cool" I reply. I really just want to end this conversation this guy reeks.
"I know! I can give you some information on the applicants, but not many are here yet." Tonpa says, clearly not taking a hint.
"Alright." I sip my drink again.
"Let's see nobody here is overly strong- Oh, Over there." Tonpa says pointing over towards the back wall, I glance over and see a clown guy building a card tower. Wait Hisoka?
"That's number 44, Hisoka the magician." Tonpa says, shuddering when Hisoka looks up at him. Wait what?
"What was his name again?" I should double check, just incase.
"Hisoka?" Tonpa says confused. I can't help but smirk, Machi will be so annoyed if she finds out he met me first. "You're not planning on talking to him are you?" He asks sounding even more confused then before.
"No he looks like a clo-" I get cut off by Tonpa
"Don't say that! He killed an examiner last year!" Tonpa interrupts.
"Alright?" So he is a murderer, I knew it!
"I'll talk to you later so I can tell you about more about the applicants." Tompa says before glancing at my drink. This dudes suspicious as fuck. "Bye then!" He says before walking off
I turn to go sit against a wall before grabbing out my phone.

Y/N's POV
I set my phone down and then quickly take a look around. The highest badge number I can see is 357. So there's probably only about that many people here.
Everything really is going as expected, other than Hisoka being here. About 400 people at the exam, overly muscular men, people with random weapons, the fat guy walking over here again.
Again? I can use the information, but the guy stinks. "Hello!" He shouts while walking over, what was his name again, Tampa? No. Tapan? No. Tampo? No.
"Hey there's a lot more people here, so I thought that I'd give you some information on them!" Tampon? It kinda fits. I'm not planning on talking to him after this, so his name isn't that important.
"Over there is the Amori brothers Amori, Imori and Umori. They're known for their teamwork skills!" I really don't think they'll be that much of an issue, they look weak.
"And over there is 256, Todo the wrestler. He's unmatched in strength and he's smarter than he looks." Also doesn't seem like too much of an issue.
"104 Bourbon, the snake charmer. He tends to hold grudges, so you don't wanna end up on his bad side" Oh right it's Tonpa.
"Then there's 192, Bodoro the kung fu master. He's getting old but there's no better martial artist around."
"There's number 385, Gerreta the huntsman. He specializes in killing all manner of creatures by blow dart and club."
"There's a lot more but they've taken the exam the most!" If they've taken the exam a lot doesn't that make them weak?
"Oh here, a toast to our friendship!" Tonpa says, grabbing a orange drink out of his bag. It's either poisoned or he's just an idiot, and either way no thanks.
"No thanks" I say going back to sit down.
"Cmon! The exam may not start for a while!" Tonpa says way to persistently, making it clear that it's tainted in some way.
"I'm not a big fan of poison." I replied. Maybe he'll leave me alone now.
"Poison? Oh! I swear it's not poisoned! Why would I give you all that information just to poison you!" Tonpa exclaimed.
"Then drink it." I might as well have a little fun with this. He doesn't seem to plan on leaving me alone soon anyways.
"Huh?" Tonpa says clearly confused.
"Drink it if it isn't poisoned, that or leave me alone." I can hear Tonpa curse something about damn rookies under his breath before walking away.
I sit back down and grab my phone. Might as well watch some TikToks to pass the time.
(SpongeBob narrator voice)
1 hour later
"AHHHHHHHHH!" A scream could be heard throughout the room. I quickly look up to see Hisoka standing next to an armless guy.
"How peculiar~, his arms seem to have become flower petals~ No smoke and mirrors here~" Fucking hell that's cool!
"Do take care~ When you bump into someone you really should apologize~" The guy really should've been more polite, he kinda had it coming.
"That psychopath is back at it again." I hear Tonpa say from the direction of the elevator. I look toward his direction to see a yellow haired teenager, a old man, and a familiar looking child.
"Again?" The child asks. I decide to listen in on their conversation, curious to see if they'll drink the poisoned juice.
"Does that mean he's taken the exam before?" I can't see Hisoka failing the exam. He probably got kicked out for killing an examiner.
"Number 44 Hisoka the magician" Tonpa continues. "Last year he was a virtual lock to pass the test, until he all but killed an examiner he didn't like." Knew it.
"A-And they're still letting him retake the exam this year?" The old man asked.
"Of course. Every year the examiners and the test content change, and the examiners are the ones who choose the new content. The devil himself could pass if that was the examiners determination. That's just how the hunter exam works. Anyways no one likes him. You should stay away, too."
"He looks dangerous. That much is for sure." The yellow haired guy said. Looks? He just turned a guys arm into flower petals, he is dangerous.
"Oh right, A little something to mark our acquaintance. How about it?" Tonpa says, holding out a couple cans of juice.
"Oh, appreciated."
"As it happened, I was thirsty."
"Thanks!"
Idiots. Why would anyone want to be friends in this exam? And you can hear everyone whispering about him pretending to be nice!
"Tonpa-San this juice must of expired." The familiar child said after spitting out the juice.
"Seriously? That was close!" The other 2 both spat out their juice. The yellow haired one dumping his on the floor.
"H-huh? That's strange." Tonpa was clearly flustered. "I'm very sorry! I didn't realize the juice had gone bad!"
I turn away, bored of listening to their conversation. A while later I start hearing a ringing noise come from the other side of the room.

This part of the story ends around the same place Season 1 Episode 3 Rivals x For x Survival ends.

I was thinking about having Y/n bump into Hisoka in this part, but decided not to. I don't want Hisoka hanging around you until the Second Phase of the exam. This way you can form a bit of a connection with Gon and Killua.

I'm going to be updating more! I will keep the schedule of updating every Sunday and Thursday. but I will be updating more randomly throughout the week. I want to write more, but I don't want to have to overwhelm myself with a large amount of scheduled updates.
