After what seemed like an eternity of climbing the stairs, the two of you finally reached the rooftop. It seemed like Kuina was training your stamina. Kuina led you in through the door and opened it up. You guessed that all the doors being unlocked also meant the roof. It was a large balcony with some AC systems on one side, and a railing along the edges of the rooftop. Supposedly this rooftop used to be in use for rooftop parties and such.
She dragged you to the edge and stopped at the railing, pointing at the sky. "Look. Soon it'll be sunset, and it's gorgeous" She exclaimed excitedly. You sat crossed legged on the floor and watched up at the sky. Kuina joined you on the ground. Soon, the sky turned from a brilliant blue to a mix of a cold pink and lilac, then changing to a beautiful bright shade of orange, mixing with reds and yellows. The clouds were practically glowing with sunlight. It was the most beautiful sunset you had seen in forever. You missed feeling alive like this. It was the small things about life that were so beautiful to you.
The two of you watched in a comfortable silence, just enjoying the beautiful show. The sky started darkening and the colours started flushing out and turning to a dark blue. You turned to Kuina, "how did you find out about this" making small talk. She turned to you too. "Well, Chishiya and I come here sometimes, and coincidentally it's sometimes sunset too. It's not like we come here specifically to look at the sunset or sunrise, usually it's just to discuss what Chishiya's next plan is. But I love it here" she finished. You smiled at her and then turned to look at the remaining strip of orange which disappeared within the deep blues and blacks of the sky.
"Actually," Kuina broke the silence. "I've seen Chishiya here before. When he thinks no one is here, that no one's seen him. I came up here to just see the sunset myself but when I opened the door, I saw him leaning against the railing, so I left. I thought I'd leave him alone. He acts like he doesn't care but he does. Sometimes, atleast" You watched the stars appear in the sky. "He's so cold with me sometimes. Honestly, I can't lie, it does hurt sometimes. I consider him a good friend, but he gets so caught up in his 'plans' that he forgets he's human sometimes. He does a lot of things that I find questionable but I know he's just trying to survive"
"Maybe he just needs time. This situation we're in is so incomprehensible. Even someone as intelligent as him must be affected by it, wether he shows it or not" you reassured her.
"Yeah, you're right. You know, I'm really glad you're here. Chishiya and Ann are dear to me but sometimes they're very similar to eachother. Distant. But you're just like me" she smiled and held her cold hands together. "It's getting a bit cold out here now, should we head back in?" She spoke. The muffled sounds of music became louder as the party lights were already on, and people had begun their raves, once again, like clockwork.
You stood up and held your hand out for her to grab it, and helped pull her up. The two of you left to go back inside. You got to the bottom floor and walked around to find an empty space that was calm enough to sit in. "It feels like people are partying in every corner today" you spoke, looking around. "Then forget it! Let's party today!" Kuina suddenly grabbed your hand and started dancing in the middle of the room full of people dancing to the loud music. You laughed and hesitated, but started dancing too. "Why not" you laughed to yourself. You were having fun with Kuina, she was a really good person. She had shown you a lot of kindness since you got here.
The two of you danced together with the pounding music and blinding lights flashing over your faces. People around you joined in with you and soon you were dancing with everyone. Though it felt odd to see so many people partying the night away as if they weren't playing deadly games during the morning, you understood why they were doing it. It's a tough thing to live through, and The Beach provided the only form of escapism for these people. And today, you were feeling it yourself. It successfully distracted you and you were having a lot of fun.
A good looking boy in yellow swim shorts approached behind you and started dancing with you, you turned around and danced along. He gently grabbed your hand and twirled it in the air above your head, prompting you to dance more and have more fun. You smiled brightly at him and giggled as he spun you around jokingly. He then placed his hand on your waist and swayed you from side to side, moving your hips with his.
Chishiya walked out of a room and sauntered over to the balcony which overlooks the ground floor, he had nothing better to do than just watch over people. With his hood over his head, he leaned against the beam, and crossed his arms, looking down at the party. He looked around, slowly scanning everyone. He watched as the people went crazy and did even crazier things. As he was looking around, he noticed Kuina dancing down there. She would sometimes join in on the parties but he never did, it wasn't his type of thing. He looked around her, when his eyes landed on you. He exhaled, locking his eyes on you.
As you danced with the boy, he turned you around and pressed himself against your back. In your haze, you looked up and saw a figure stood at the balcony looking down. The lights were too bright and you weren't focused enough to notice who it was. But they were looking right at you. Their white hood cast a shadow over their face. A jacket like that only belonged to one boy on this beach. High on the adrenaline and the music pumping in your veins, you slightly grinded against the boy, turning him on, but he didn't show it, he continued dancing and having fun with you. You turned to face him and he smiled in your face, your noses almost touching. He moved his hands gently up and down your arms.
At the balcony, Chishiya watched, looking unbothered on the outside. But it would be a lie to say it didn't make him feel anything at all. If he didn't care, why was he continuing to watch you and only you? What made him keep watching? As he watched, something caught his attention and he started walking downstairs.
A man approached you and the guy with you, with a smaller group of people behind him. He placed his hand on the boys shoulder. "Hey, we're going to the red room" he said, before making eye contact with you. "Bring your friends if you want too" he smiled, and walked away. The boy turned to you. "So, do you wanna play a game?" He grinned at you. Your expressions became worried. "A game?" You questioned. You couldn't understand why he would want to go to a game now, at this time of night. He laughed, "haha not that type of game, just a normal game. A fun game"
"Ohhh!" You laughed a little at your brief worry over a harmless thing. "So, are you in?" He looked at you and then at Kuina, who had stood next to you when the others came over. You glanced at Kuina. "Sure" you nodded. The boy smiled at you and held your hand, starting to walk and lead you away, until a hand came and grabbed your wrist, breaking you off from the boy.
You looked up to see Chishiya stood there, hood over his head, holding your wrist, he didn't look up from the ground. The boy stopped and turned around, wondering why you forcibly let go. After a moment of tense silence, and Chishiya staring right into the boys eyes, he spoke, "I'm coming too" raising his eyebrows slightly. The boy nervously smiled and replied, "okay" and awkwardly led you all to the room. Chishiya remained holding your wrist and you didn't want to question it, not now atleast. Kuina walked behind you both, watching and thinking.
Once you reached the room, you realised it was just another room they had turned into a sociable space, not for parties but more for gatherings. It was called the 'red room' because of the red LED lights that darkened the room. Chishiya guided you along into the room, and eventually let go of you once they found the sofas where the others were sat. It was two large sofas facing each other, with a bunch of young people sprawled all over it, a few of them kissing and making out. "Heyyy! You came!" The man sang, addressing all of you. "C'mon, sit down!" He gestured towards the sofa and the people squished together even more, making room for you all. You sat down next to Kuina and Chishiya and the other boy sat opposite the two of you.
"So.. what are we playing?" Kuina smiled, trying to make her voice heard between all the mini conversations happening around you, and the constant kissing noises. You perked up and looked at the man. He maintained eye contact with her as he reached behind him and pulled out a box. You tilted your head as you looked at the pink rectangular box. "Pocky?!" Kuina exclaimed. The man smirked and nodded. "Yep. It's hard to find snacks like these around here, most of it had finished by now but I found a secret stash of them" he boasted, resting back in his seat, with two girls sitting around him, leaning over him. Kuina was impressed, you guessed she really liked Pocky, either the food or the game.
To begin, the man and the girl to the left of him started the game, they didn't even attempt playing properly, and just kissed. He kept it short and parted their little kiss, and turned to Kuina. "Your turn" he raised his eyebrows. A bottle was placed on a table in the centre of the sofas, and was spun. The top of the bottle landed on a random boy. He looked a little nervous but Kuina grabbed his arm, pulling him closer to her to make it easier. She removed the stick she usually kept in her mouth and placed a Pocky stick in instead. The boy hesitantly put his mouth on the other end, the game started and Kuina began biting quickly, almost reaching the boys face. Turning red, the boy became flustered and froze, leading Kuina to win, as she had ate more than half of it. "Yes!" She cheered. "You didn't even try!" She pointed at the boy.
"Your turn" the man reached over and pushed on Chishiya's arm, to prompt him. He kept looking down at the table, "I don't play games like this" he simply spoke. The guy rolled his eyes and laughed, "okay. Your turn then" he turned to you. Your eyes widened, realising it was your turn now. "Me?" You pointed at yourself. He nodded. "Uh okay.." you reached over to the bottle and gently spun it. You watched as the bottle slowed down and just about passed Chishiya, landing on the boy you were dancing with earlier. He grinned leaned over the table, shortening the distance between you. You picked up a piece of Pocky and placed it in your mouth. Just as he was about to place the other end in his mouth, Chishiya shot forward from his seat and placed the other end in his mouth. You faced him with shock in your eyes. He stared at you with the Pocky in his mouth, his soft lips gently wrapped around it. His long eyelashes pointed towards you, his stare intimidating you. You didn't know what had gotten into him today.
The boy you danced with sat beside Chishiya, watching you two, stunned. "Well what are you two waiting for??" The man urged. With the man's voice, you jumped a little, and Chishiya started biting, you followed him too. He bit slowly and you bit fast, trying to reach the middle before him. With the last bite, you met his eyes, and then looked back down at your lips. You were kissing him. Your lips gently touched. He stared at your lips for a split second before parting his lips and kissing you properly. For a moment, you were taken aback, but you kissed him back. Your heads moved back and forth as you fought each others lips, getting harsher and sloppier with each kiss. He reached up and placed his hand on your face, deepening it. The sweetness from the chocolate seeped into the kiss, making it intoxicatingly irresistible. You kissed him so good that he began catching his breath a little between kisses, until he wasn't able to kiss back anymore. You had melted him with your affection and lust, he was completely undone by you. You stopped to catch your breath too, and to give him a moment to calm down, and remembered you just did this infront of a whole group of people. You pulled away from Chishiya and awkwardly looked around.
Even the people who were desperately making out just a mere minute ago were now watching you. You felt your cheeks turn red hot. You turned to Kuina and she sat with a shocked expression and her mouth hung open. "hoo, I didn't know you two had it in you! Damn!" The man clapped his hands, astonished. You gave one last look at Chishiya, who had already looked away and was smirking to himself, taking in what had just happened. His cheeks were pink and lips were red. You leaned back in the sofa, breathing slowly to bring yourself back down from that high. Kuina leaned in and whispered into your ear, "what!! Was that!!" You met eyes with her and saw her smiling from ear to ear. "That was insane!!" She whisper-screamed.
The boy you had danced with had now realised the two of you didn't have any future, so he spun the bottle and it landed on another girl, where he made his move on her instead. As the game progressed, you couldn't think of anything else. The two of you were sat a foot away from each other but couldn't meet each others eyes. The tension had risen inside of you, and you didn't want it to end here, but you couldn't do anything about it, except for calm yourself down. You really needed to wash your face with cold water to snap you back to reality. You stood up and quietly announced you were going to be back in a minute, but nobody had really heard you or paid attention, they were all busy playing the game. All except one, who's eyes had followed you as you left the room.
You swiftly walked, almost ran, to the bathroom, desperate to wash your face. You quickly entered and splashed cold water all over your face. All it did was make you cold, your cheeks were still red and the butterflies were still pumping around your body. You dried your face and looked back in the mirror one last time, only to see how much of a mess that kiss had made you. You mentally shook it away and exited the bathroom, only to be jump-scared by Chishiya standing outside, leaning against the wall.
