Sam's warning echoed through Jimmy's mind as he fumbled down the stairs in the middle of the dark.

"I've been given special permission to engage."

He needed to keep them safe.

As the canary he had to warn them and keep them safe.

The bad luck of his kind would not be the downfall of Tommy and Grian

Jimmy rummaged through an old box.

Looking for the machines that he swore he'd never need but kept anyway simply because Tango had made them.

As he found the machine he turned to his brother and smiled sadly at the sight of the sleeping figure.

He promised he'd do anything to protect them.

The thoughts fumbled as he gathered his papers and files from the office in his house. He slipped back and stared at Grian, Tommy's attack coming back to him.

The government never tried to protect them.

They never cared about hybrids, that was something that he swore to change.

This wasn't how he figured he would change the world.

"Forgive me for this Grian." He whispered softly as he slipped down on the ground and wrapped the device around Grian's leg.

Grian woke up to a horrified yell coming from up the stairs as he struggled to get out of the couch, his leg pounding and feeling heavier than usual.

A thud could be heard as Tommy flapped down the stairs one leg hanging down further than the other. "That fucker, put an ancle moniter on me! Who does he think he is? I call him dad and this is what I get?"

Grian blankly stared at him before looking down at his own leg.

Fuck.

Tommy wobbled as he landed his eyes glaring daggers into the door. "He left for work and placed us on house arrest."

The hero stared at him blankly before fumbling around and calling Jimmy.

Hey, sorry I couldn't answer, please call me later!" Jimmy's voice called through the voicemail as Grian tossed his phone back down on the couch, his wings fluttering up in fear as he realized what this meant.

They were trapped.

Jimmy had trapped him in his house.

A few hours had passed as Grian struggled to find some way to get rid of the awful device that tied them down in the house.

The lights of the living room shined brightly as the smell of vanilla candles wafted through the

room.

It was too much of a cheery feeling and setting for the avains as they knew that they weren't in the house of their own volition.

Grian tapped on the window in aggravation as Tommy paced back and forth anxiously, his wings fluttering as he paced in the living room. "Tommy, would you stop? Jimmy won't be back from work for a few more hours."

The teen glared at the hero and plopped onto the couch. "Sure whatever you say, I can't believe he put us both on house arrest for who knows how long"

Grian groaned as he watched the teen flip on some random cartoon on the tv.

Last night's conversation slowly came back to him.

Jimmy hadn't explained why he was in Tommy's room for so long or why he looked so spooked and literally placed a house arrest lock on him and Tommy.

"Do you remember anything from last night?" Grian asked again, desperate for an answer as he took the remote and muted the cartoon.

"Bitch, that was the new pokemon episode!" He snapped as Grian glared at him from the recliner.

Tommy sighed. "I told you, I remember seeing Tubbo and Ranboo and that's it, why did something else happen?"

Grian slipped deeper into the black seat. "I mean I figured something spooked Jimmy enough to do this. I mean he's an avain, we all hate being caged!"

The teenager sighed as he took the remote back from Grian. "Are you done questioning me now? It's the final of Ash vs Leon, and I don't want to miss it."

"Fine, I'll just make us something to eat." Grian threw his hands in the air exasperatedly as he stormed away into the kitchen.

"Hey, it's not my fucking fault you're in a pissed off mood!" Tommy yelled back as Grian clanged a few pots in the sink.

"Langage Tommy!" Grian snapped even more aggravated as he managed to find some pasta and meat in the cabinets.

The shorter avain's wings flapped as he sat up and stormed over to the superhero.

"First of all you arn't the fucking boss of me, second of all, some superhero you are yelling at a kid who's just as stressed as you are you dick."

Grian dropped the pan as he stared at the avain who glared and his wings completely flared up in anger.

"Shit." Grian mumbled as he placed down the bag of pasta, his eyes flicking to the cartoon on the screen.

Tommy nodded as he watched his teacher struggle to speak. "We are both caged, we both are having a hard time adjusting to this."

Birds in a cage.

Being trapped was the one thing no avain could deal with.

Grian fell onto the couch next to Tommy as the teen stared at him for a moment.

"I'm sorry for snapping, It wasn't what I meant to do, I'm just confused and frustrated. Jimmy normally doesn't do anything and never explains. Sure he's impulsive but this?" He gestured to the ankle monitor.

Tommy chuckled weakly as he glanced down at the monitor attached to him. "I mean how did the chief of police get these in his own house!"

That was a good question, it wasn't like even the police got them any time that they wanted.

Grian looked over the machine once again. "Hey, Tommy this isn't a normal ankle monitor, this is clearly handmade."

He pointed to the sleek design and then the fact that there was no brand name or signature. On top of that Grian could practically smell the fire magic from the metal. "A fire hybrid made this."

Tango.

Grian could only figure it was Tango after all Jimmy kept every little invention that Tango fiddled with when the hybrid threw them out. It was obvious he was fiddling around with ankle monitors and made his own.

That still didn't explain why Jimmy had placed them on both his brother and adopted son. It made zero sense.

He groaned as he struggled to come up with a single reassemble explanation. Grian knew he had a meltdown in the parking lot last night but that wasn't enough for Jimmy to completely cage his own family.

Grian picked his cell phone and dialed Jimmy's office phone.

"Chief Solidarity speaking, what can I help you with?"

Grian smirked as Tommy leaned over. "Hi chief, I was just wondering if you would know how to remove ankle monitors perchance?" Grian asked in a highly falsetto voice.

"Remove ankle monitors? Shit!" Jimmy's voice yelled out. "Look, I'll explain later but understand I have good intentions."

Grian glared at the phone as an idea hit him. "I love you but Jimmy, you have five minutes to explain, or I will transform and beat the ever loving shit out of you as Cute-Guy."

Silence fell over the speaker as a rushed panicked voice came from Jimmy's side. "Look, I can't explain, I think someone has tampered with my phone and my office might be bugged. I will explain when I see you guys later, also check the news."

"What?" Tommy asked as he leaned over, staring at the phone with wide eyes as Jimmy cursed once again. "Tommy, I'm sorry, I love you and I promised to protect you and I will."

The phone clicked as Jimmy hung up not even waiting for an answer.

"Okay, what the fuck." Tommy rounded on Grian who froze blankly staring at the phone. "He's in danger, or he thinks he is."

Tommy watched as Grian flinched and quickly grasped onto the necklace that hung under his shirt.

"Stay here, I have to check on Jimmy." He felt the power slowly consume him as Tommy watched in mild horror and fascination.

The bright lights as he changed in seconds was always shocking even if Tommy had seen it a few times yesterday.

"Tommy, watch over the house if I'm not back in half an hour call Mumbo with my phone." He grinned as the teen nodded his head vigorously.

"I know you want to help but staying here is important. Something tells me that Jimmy is hiding something in the house that might be useful."

He reached into his pocket and pulled out a small pink gun. "Keep this, just in case, I'll be back Tommy!"

Tommy's eyes widened as he took the weapon from the hero. "What about you?"

Cute-Guy waved him off. "It's nothing, I got quite a few other weapons on hand. Stay safe Tommy."

He flapped his white and pink wings open as he tossed off the monitor that unclipped due to the magic.

The air flapped underneath him blowing around papers and pencils on the floor as he flew out the window without a second thought.

Boatem seemed relatively calm as the hero soured over the building and people that littered the ground in specs of multitudes of colors.

The wind whistles in his ears a familiar tune that only avains would know. The notes were nothing but garbled symphonies, as he flew even faster. His wings stretched out with every second of movement on his way to the police headquarters.

The building's parking lot was covered in police cars and officers rushing in and out of the building. Their radios buzzing with business and support as they dash towards their cars ready to save the day all over again.

He stopped in front of the window of the chief's office, startled to see scattered papers all over the ground and his brother frantically gathering up as many things as he could.

Someone had broken into the office.

"Jimmy, open this window!" He called out as his startled brother fumbled backwards and down onto the floor.

"No, y-you c-" He sputtered, unable to respond as Grian kicked in the window, the glass shattering around the room, Jimmy barely able to hide behind the desk in time.

Grian slipped inside the broken window, mindful of the glass that still was in the windowsill. "Look at this mess Tim, you made me break government property."

The floor was covered in sharp pieces of glass, tattered blinds and documents that scattered all over the agency.

Jimmy slowly got up, his hands slipping on a piece of glass he fully got up clutching the folder closer to him and wincing in pain as his palm began to bleed. His brown eyes focused on the hero in front of him. "Leave, p-please I have this under control."

Grian rolled his eyes as he reached into his pockets and pulled out some wrap as he wrapped his brother's hand. "Don't lie to me, someone broke into your office. I can just tell by looking at the expression on your face."

Jimmy fumbled, his attention falling to the wrap as his brother wrapped it securely. "Now, we need to know what they were looking for."

Jimmy shuttered as he pulled his hand away. "They didn't take anything important, I happened to make it up here before they could find anything useful."

Cute-Guy sighed in relief as his brother picked up some papers, his eyes flicking over to the desk and began to organize the papers as Grian handed him some of them. "That being said Cute-Guy, I need to talk to you away from this office, and you can't get upset with what I'm going to tell you." Jimmy explained as his brother's eyes furrowed in confusion.

"Alright, I trust your judgment chief." His wings fluttered up as Jimmy began to gather a few files and placed them into a suitcase that was on the side of the desk.

The smaller avain gathered up the case and smiled up at his brother, the hurt still in his eyes as Grian watched him. "Alright, get me out of here, Cute-Guy. I already filed a report on the break in."

The hero stared at his brother and grasped his arm, aware of his brother holding onto a pen and flew out the window, Jimmy's wings fluttering out of sync as the canary tried to keep himself upright.

The wind blew even harsher as Jimmy foundered around in the air, his eyes staring down at the ground as he held onto the pen that he refused to drop.

"Grian." Jimmy whispered softly as his brother turned to him.

"Yes?" Grian asked, his eyebrows furrowing at the strange look on Jimmy's face.

"Forgive me." He whispered as he plunged the pen into Grian's arm pressing down on the button watching the murky liquid enter Grian's bloodstream.

"Jimmy! What is this?" He shouted as he let go of his brother, completely horrified as the world began to turn black all around him.

The sound of an ender pearl could be heard as Grian fumbled in the air unable to see, the wind knocking him back and forth. The world was ready to send him spiraling to the ground a hundred feet below.

Jimmy huffed as he landed behind the nearest building, his wings tingling with guilt and regret, but he didn't have time to worry about Grian. He slipped into the alleyway nearest to the police station and disappeared into the darkness.

The alleyway smelled of stale booze and dead caracauses that littered the area, the soft light from redstone torches barely lighting the way around.

His fingers traced over the bricks until he found the button he was looking for and gently pushed it.

The floor underneath him creaked and cracked as it opened into a stairway that was hardly used except for refuges or escaped criminals from the world below the city.

The undercity was a mess full of hybrids and criminals in a hurry to make a quick buck, the chief never went down unless he had a warrant but this time he needed a favor.

It was truly the black market, any weapon, chemical or anything would be sold down there, but the government never paid a need to those who could hardly pay taxes.

It was why Jimmy never arrested anyone; the government practically forbade them from entering this part of town.

Another reason why he was doing this.

The buildings were made of rotten wood and cobblestone covered in sludge, blood and piss. The nastiest part of the city, but in the middle was a deactivated Nether Portal that he and a few others had shut down after a group of murderers managed to escape into the Nether.

The inhabitants stepped away and seemingly hid as the chief fully stepped out of the long staircase and headed straight for the portal, he ignored the whispers or the sound of knives being sharpened on the rocks as he flew forward not wanting to walk on the polluted ground any longer.

There at the portal was a blaze which forced people to pay large sums of money in order to be smuggled into the fiery landscape.

He raised an eyebrow as the chief appeared and dropped a whole suitcase on the ground. "Money, and all the information to be fully allowed in the nether with no problem. You don't have to forge me any documents."

The blaze stared at him with an unreadable expression as he looked over the documents and ignored the spare sets of clothing. "Two days, you're staying in for two days with all your papers in order, why didn't you just do this legally?"

Jimmy sighed, not surprised to hear the question. "This is my personal business and the government doesn't need to know about what I do, they can only care about my travels for my job."

"Of course." The blaze turned around and lit the portal after he took out a large portion of the money inside the case..

The purple particles spilled out of the portal, the fire and heat fully engulfing him before he had even stepped through.

His body screamed in pain as it ripped apart under the immense pressure of the portal, the purple magic pulling him in even further as the portal whispered intelligent noises.

The world turned red, as Jimmy fully settled down at the foot of the portal, the heat sending his wings into shock as he dropped to the ground and the air pressure pushed him even further towards the ground.

The red nether bricks surrounded the portal down a long corridor clearly leading into the entrance of the city.

He made it to the Nether-City, the bustling metropolis of middle class citizens and the least amount of criminals in the Nether. That meant about 30% were criminals in some way shape or form.

The bricks were warm to the touch but surprisingly not enough to burn his delicate wings as he stood up and took a swig of water from the bottle that hung at his hip.

Right, there was no natural water in the nether.

Of course he didn't bring enough, which meant he'd have to pay ridiculous prices just for a bottle of water from the nearest vending machine for tourists that only came for a few hours in order to see friends.

The walls were decorated in lanterns made of molten rock and lava. The hallways were narrow and small, making the avain fold his wings neatly on his back as he tried not to drag his feet across the floor.

The sound of his boots of the bricks made him flinch slightly as he noticed a few people glance at the stranger who was overly dressed to be in the nether.

The hallway led into an open area full of buildings and citizens walking back and forth their conversations falling onto others ears as they walked.

Jimmy could feel the heat slowly catching up to him as he stumbled into the records of the nether desperate to find some information on Tango.

The building sat in the middle of the city, hybrids bustling in and out and the library was directly connected to the building of records and laws. It was built out of quartz and lined with goldblocks across the trim of the ceiling.

Inside the structure was a sitting area decorated in blue and green chairs and carpet taking away the annoying glare of red and orange all around the world.

The receptionist looked up from her computer as he stumbled in and gave her a smile as he tried to put on the friendly officer expression.

"Hi, I'm Chief Solidarity from Boatem City, I'm just here looking for a blaze hybrid named Tango Trek." He held up his badge as the office lady nodded, her expression not changing at all as he typed away on her computer. "What's his age?"

"Twenty two."

The lady tapped away even more. "Tango Trek, twenty-two, last time he was documented as being in the nether was a year ago."

Jimmy stood up quickly, his eyes going wide as he grasped on the desk. "What, so he's not here?"

The lady shook her head as she typed. "Well he could be dead, we stopped doing missing person reports and started just reporting them as dead until they were found."

She typed away for a few more seconds the sound grating on Jimmy's ears as he bit his lip anxiously. "Nope, no record of dyeing, although there is a record of him leaving the nether about a year ago."

All the anxiety and suspense snapped out of him as Jimmy practically jumped out of the seat. "Okay, thank you for your help."

She paused and looked him up and down. "Here, it's the number of one of his old friends. They are on his emergency contacts list."

The city was bustling as Jimmy raced to the nearest hotel, his wings puffing up underneath the pressure and heat. He was staying just one more day, he needed to find a way to stay in the Nether when Tommy was in danger.

The hotel was slightly rundown, the quartz floors covered in cracks and stains. The few people in the hotel disappeared into their rooms.

The room was nothing to write home about, the curtains made of white silk, the bed spread a gentle blue with purple hints on the painting of the overworld sky above the bed.

A cactus sat on the night stand along with a blue mushroom.

Jimmy's wings fluttered up as the cool air conditioning hit his back as he collapsed into the bed, the exhaustion and heat fully catching up to him.

He only had twenty-four hours before his name was on a bounty.

Tomorrow he will call the number and get some answers.

Grian fumbled in the air, his wings flapping as he struggled to keep up right, the world was dark and fuzzy as his arm pulsed in pain from the sudden injection.

Jimmy had blinded him.

His brother had injected him with a potion of blindness.

He let out a groan as he fumbled for the sudden noises that came from his tool belt. "Cute-Guy, two weirdo's just teleported into the house and are demanding to see the Chief."

"Tommy, we are not weirdos!" A voice snapped back as the sound of the receiver being snatched could be heard.

The voice spoke even clearer into the speaker. "My name is Nuke, and my partner is Ender. We are superheroes. Your boss hired us, I know you don't believe me here. So uh, his name starts with an M and is obsessed with redstone."

Grian paused for a moment. "Okay, look I don't know where Jimmy is, he just stabbed me with some blindness potion and fled."

The voice curse. "Cute-Guy, do you know what he did this morning?"

The hero stumbled, his vision coming back to him as he glanced at the ground and slowly flew downwards. "What?"

Nuke took a breath. "The government stated this morning that all hybrids working for first responders are laid off because only hybrids can be corrupted by the skulk."

Cute-Guy gripped onto the receiver even tighter. "Okay, and why do you need the ex-chief then."

"He broke into his old office and stole police records." The other voice explained as grian flew back into the air. "GIve me a moment I'm heading to his house, I want a full report and I'll give you what I know."

The world whizzed past as he burst full speed into the neighborhood, he landed in front of the door and walked in, he quickly looked at the two new heroes and Tommy was sitting on the couch, his eyes still on the gun he was given.

Nuke and Ender quickly bowed as they motioned to Tommy. "He's fine, it's just that his adoptive dad is now wanted."

Grian glanced at the two of them before reaching out and pulling Tommy into a hug, noticing that the monitor was no longer connected to his leg.

"So Jimmy has broken into the office and stolen police records that involve the watchers. Is that correct?" He asked as the two younger hero's nodded and began to go into their spiel about seeing it on the news and having to make sure that Tommy was okay.

"Why the fuck do you care about me?" Tommy asked in annoyance, his hand just a few centimeters from the gun.

Ender took a deep breath. "We know Ranboo and Tubbo, they were worried."

The teen's wings ruffled up at hearing his friends' names. "I see, well in that case where do I stay, I mean it's not like I can stay with a wanted criminal." He asked his expression unreadable as he awaited the response.

"You'll stay with Mumbo and Grian." Grian said quickly, his attention watching the boy's smile slowly appear.

The two superheroes nodded. "Right with Mumbo, he'll be safe, we are going to watch over the city, Cute-Guy."

Cute-Guy nodded. "Alright, that's fine with me."

Tommy followed Grian through the streets to the apartment, Mumbo was quickly filled in on the situation, making Tommy wonder how Mumbo even knew that Grian was Cute-Guy.

He laid on the couch feeling the exhaustion from the day hit him

Jimmy woke up after a few hours, he slowly stood up and looked out the window, the lava, and people could be seen from above walking around in the sweltering heat.

His wings stuck to his body, and his phone was spammed with messages from family and friends.

He stared at the phone dread, suddenly hitting him as he flicked it open and saw the home screen of Tommy, and knowing that even in another world he could be found.

Picking up the phone and pressing a kiss to the picture's forehead he tossed the phone out the window.

The phone plummeted ten stories into the lava below.

He flipped open the window all the way, ignoring the pain in his wings as he plummeted into the red sky from above.

His wings quickly opened fully as he flew towards the same hallway that he had entered from. He just needed to get back to the undercity.

The portal vibrated with power as he landed next to the obsidian, his hand still on the suitcase full of priceless articles and papers.

He walked right through the power tearing him apart as he smiled proudly into the magic.

"You're back." The blaze said as Jimmy stepped through, the blaze's attention falling to him. Solidarity, You're a traitor in the world above, you know that right."

Jimmy laughed. "The name is Tim Gaming, and what's your name my fiery friend?"

"Ember." My name is Ember. He spoke as he watched the ex-chief grinned knowingly. "Do you have a phone I could borrow? I have to speak to someone."

The blaze nodded as the chief snatched the phone out of his hands and dialed.

The phone was quickly picked up "Impulse here manager of Impulse Buys, where you Impulsively buy how can I help you?"

"Yes, I was wondering, do you work with a blaze by the name of Tango Trek?" Jimmy asked with a wicked grin as he could hear the man pause. "Yes, I do. He owns his own store in my mall. Why do you ask?"

Jimmy grinned even more. "Tell him that a man named Jimmy will be stopping by later with a proposition."

"Alright, I'll let him know." Impulse said with a customer service voice, but curiosity leaked into the tone as well.

Jimmy turned to the blaze and handed him the phone. "Thank you so much, I'll be heading to Impulse Buys, thank you for your help Ember."

He flicked his wings open again. As he walked glided through the nasty alleyways towards the nearest entrance to the mall.

Impulse Buy was huge, the mall was covered in small stores run by hybrids and humans selling their wares in different booths, he followed the map to the small redstone store called Decked Out.

He glanced at the reviews. It seemed the store was a place to get electronics fixed and kitted out, only Jimmy needed Tango for something bigger. He was calling on his knowledge of weapons this time.

The store was being run by a teenage human girl, her attention quickly fell to him and glazed at the blue bandana covering part of his face. "Hi, welcome to decked out, how can I help you?"

He smiled sweetly as he pulled the bandana down just slightly. "I'm here to talk to Tango, "I called in yesterday. The name is Jimmy."

She clapped her hands together. "Oh, you are here okay. Give me a second he's in the back." The girl slipped off from the counter and pulled back the red curtain that led into the back of the store. "Tango! The man Jimmy is here!"

The sound of things falling could be heard as she raced back up, the blaze hybrid following right behind her mumbling something to himself..

His fiery hair wasn't a huge blaze at the moment, and black goggles sat upon his head. The black work shirt went down to his wrists and he held up a screwdriver with a friendly smile. His tail swished as he looked at the chief, but Jimmy's attention fell to the small pin with the letter J sitting right under Tango's red bandanna.

Tango was standing right in front of him after all these years, the man had been on the other side of the city.

"Hello, I'm Tango, I own this shop, Impulse told me you had a proposition for me?" He asked with an award winning smile, that wasn't like his genuine smile.

It made Jimmy's heart hurt.

Jimmy leaned forward and slowly untied the bandana letting it fall and fully reveal his face. The customer service smile on Tango's face dropped and quickly changed to confusion and shock.

"Jimmy, what in the world, look I'm happy to see you, but you are wanted by the whole city right now." Tango asked as he grabbed Jimmy's arm and pulled him into the back. "This palace is crawling with security guards."

Jimmy chuckled. "I had to find you, as well as I need your help, I know it sounds crazy but we need to overthrow the government. Long story short the watchers are the ones corrupting civilians and I have reason to believe they are entangled in the government."

Tango stared at him blankly. "Jimmy, I can't, I mean I couldn't be an officer I realized it wasn't my thing."

The canary sighed and gripped onto Tango's shoulder. "I just need you to make some machines and weapons, you can say no I won't hold it against you, and I can't either because I want you to be happy in life Tango."

The hybrid stared at him blankly before dropping his head into Jimmy's shoulder. "Alright, first let me get Impulse."

The younger girl smiled sadly. "Well, you know what this means Tango, I have to leave you know, that if I keep hanging around it will just be trouble."

Jimmy glanced at the girl who noticed the confusion. "I'm here for volunteer hours, I wish you luck though!" She smiled and waved before leaving the shop.

Tango cursed under his breath as he flipped on the receiver and called up the owner. "Hey Impulse, you know the secret? I have another paytren, I promise you'll love him."

He placed down the phone and smiled as Jimmy stared and flicked through the abundance of abandoned projects. "We have a meeting under the mall for things like these. Jimmy, you are not the only one who wants to take down the government. I can promise you that."

The ex-chief laughed as Tango took his hand. "Come on, you stay back here until we close up, you'll meet everyone then.

Tango smiled as he stepped away, the kindness and fear shining in his red eyes as Jimmy felt his heart swoon. He leaned forward and pressed a kiss to his head. "Right, we will be talking then."

Tango's face flushed as he kindly pushed Jimmy away and disappeared behind the curtain to the front of the shop.

He could hear voice speaking as Tango handed out things and answered questions. The smell of fire and redstone was strong as Jimmy stayed in the back, his attention focused on every word that Tango would say.

"Attention shoppers, Impulse Buys will be closing in thirty minutes so get your last few impulsive buys and check out for us please." Impulse's voice spoke through the broadcast system as the cherry pop songs quit playing throughout the whole building.

After a while, the lights began to dim as Tango walked behind the curtain and tied the blue bandanna around Jimmy's face. "Come on, we have a meeting to go to."

The floor squeaked as they headed to the elevator, Jimmy's body shook with excitement and apprehensiveness as Tango took his hand with a small smile. "It will be fine, they are all on our side."

The elevator dinged to stop as they walked out into a large room with a brown table with twelve seats and a chandelier at it. Impulse sat at a seat along with a few others.

He felt Tango take off the bandana with his free hand still holding Jimmy's hand as well.

"Tim!" Martyn's voice called out as he jumped from his seat and threw himself at his cousin. "You're okay! It was all over the news that you stole from your own office." Ren followed his tail wagging happily as he hugged Jimmy as well. "Jimmy laddie, you gave us a freight yesterday!"

"Oh so this is Jimmy." a voice spoke, Jimmy's eyes fell to the blue haired male and flushed at the expression on his face. "You're right Martyn he is quite cute, no wonder you tried to set me up with him." He tapped his finger on the desk, his eyes not once leaving Jimmy.

Jimmy flushed even more as Tango's hand suddenly gripped even tighter. "T-Thank you."

Impulse smiled as he stood up and shook the hand that Tango dropped upon seeing Impulse stand up. "I have heard a lot about you Jimmy, welcome to the round table, unfortunately not everyone is here yet."

The elevator dinged again as three more steeped through the elevator. "Hey, is that the toy!" A familiar voice called out followed by a grunt and another line. "Joel, quit it, Jimmy it's great to see you again!" Lizzie pranced over dragging her husband behind her after she elbowed him in the shoulder, the man's hair was slightly dyed green.

The third was Wilbur, the teen that worked at renchanting. "Sorry for being late, I had to deal with a pest named Tommy." His attention fell to Jimmy and stopped walking. "What the fuck, you're Tommy's dad."

Joel froze and spun around. "Huh, hold up Jimmy, when did you get a kid?"

Tango glanced at Jimmy confusedly as well as Impulse clapped his hands together to silence them. "Okay, role call if you please?

They all groaned as Impulse waved them off.

Maryn, Ren, Wilbur, Joel, Lizzie, Scott, Tango and now Jimmy, welcome to the meeting. You all know your seats, Jimmy, you are between Scott and Tango."

Impulse clapped his hands together as he began. "As you all know, we have been keeping tabs on the watchers thanks to Martyn being able to have the power of the listeners and the rest of you have been working on smaller projects keeping tabs on people of authority." He smiled as he waited for a response from the others.

Martyn spoke up after a few seconds of silence "I haven't heard anything from the watchers lately, but it's clear that the media coverage is just making more people think that hybrids are dangerous."

Jimmy sat up straighter as he raised a hand timidly. "Yes Jimmy?"

"I also have the powers of the listeners and there is a watcher named Sam Gladiator who corrupted my son Tommy, I was able to dispel the magic that still let him gather information that Tommy knows the other night."

The others began to mumble as Wilbur stood up quickly. "We need Tommy, I don't trust him with that guy Grian."

Jimmy paused, and quickly got his bearings. "Hold on, I know Grian reeks of watcher magic but that was because they forced the power onto him, he told me himself."

Martyn nodded. "Yes, but even so, don't you want Tommy with you?"

"Of course!" Jimmy snapped as he stood up. "I only adopted him a few days ago, but Tommy is everything to me. I need him to be safe and this here isn't safe for a seventeen year old."

Tango watched as Scott smiled sweetly and gently took Jimmy's arm and stood up as well Jimmy turning to him and blushed slightly at the determination of the pretty man's face. "I say we get Tommy, he can choose whether he wants to stay or not."

Jimmy nodded slowly as Scoot squeezed his arm reassuringly. "So, is that alright with you, Impulse?"

The owner smiled widely. "Of course, he means a lot to Jimmy, and he could be an asset knowing what it's like to be corrupted."

Tango stood up quickly, shooting Scott a look as He took Jimmy's other arm. "I'll get him then."

Impulse shook his head. "I think not, Marytn, Ren and Wilbur, I want you three to bring Tommy here, he knows you three it won't be suspicious."

The three nodded as they stood up, grabbing some supplies as Martyn handed a strange device that looked like an ender pearl to Tango. "Hit that button when I text you."

Tango's grin came back as his hair lit up even more than it did when Scott had grasped onto Jimmy.

The blue haired human was staring at him with interest as Jimmy sat back down and Tango took the device. "So, chief of police and a dad, sounds like you had a lot on your plate." Scott asked with a flirtatious grin as Jimmy rubbed the back of his neck. "Yeah, and I just threw away everything for this kid and for this city."

Scott traced Jimmy's hand with his fingers with a smile. "So, what's up with Tango? I know he doesn't like me, but I've never seen him so possessive."

Jimmy flushed. "We were dating before I became chief, he had to leave to do police training in the nether so we ended things abruptly. I guess he got jealous."

Scott giggled. "I see, well I can understand, I can be quite intimidating to others when they are in a relationship. Especially if I'm talking to a cute guy."

The canary could feel his cheeks burn and his wings flutter a few times, Tango's eyes burrowing as he walked over. His hair was burning brighter than before with envy. "Scott, quit flirting with every man you meet, he's too good for you."

Jimmy coughed into his arm. "To be fair, I was supposed to be on a blind date with him in a few days."

Tango flushed, his hair burning even more as he tried to save himself. "Yes, but that's not happening now that you can't show your face in public."

"Such a shame that he can't really, he's quite charming." Scott replied without a second of hesitance.

Jimmy blushed even more. He fumbled, not really sure what to do sense his ex, and potential partner were having a spat about him.

"Thanks, but I'm more worried about my son than you two fighting over me." Jimmy quickly retorted as he watched the phone in Tango's hand vibrate with Martyn's name popping up on the screen.

Tango quickly pressed the button in the middle as he stumbled away.

Purple dust blew up around them as voices called out. "FUCKING LET ME GO, WILBUR WHY DID YOU KIDNAP ME!" Tommy screamed, as the others began to stumble out of the plume of magic.

Tommy's voice broke as Jimmy threw himself around the smaller avain. "Tommy, shit you're okay."

The smaller avin quickly wrapped his arms around Jimmy and let out a choked sob, Ren and Marytn stepping away and watching with fond smiles as Tommy slumped into his dad. "Dad, you are an asshole for locking me in that house.

Jimmy held on tighter as he began to rub circles on the boy's back. Tommy broke down a bit more. "but also fuck it was kinda badass that you stole from the police and stabbed Cute-Guy with a blindness potion."

"You, did what to Cute-Guy?" Tango yelled out in horror as Scott laughed with excitement. "Okay, that's hot, a man in uniform attacked a superhero."

Jimmy sighed and waved them off as he pulled away and gently petted the avain's hair. "Hey Tommy, we have to stay here now, I mean I can't leave this building now."

The teen sighed and started up at the canary hybrid in front of him. "Okay, I get that, but what is this place and what's the point?"

"Anarchy. "Wilbur spoke up with a wicked grin. "The government took the rights of the less fortunate, they destroyed Lamanburgh instead of saving its people, our mission is to take them out and rebuild our cities."

Tommy stood up fully, his own wings fully spreading out and a wicked grin grew on his face. "I like that quite a bit. He turned to Jimmy. "So dad are we in?"

Jimmy laughed as he pointed to the suitcase that he had placed on the table earlier. "Impulse that has all the information I stole from my office, take it all. Let's take down those in power."

The others cheered as Impulse opened the case with excitement. "Damn, Jim, this is a lot! Tango, we need to start building those weapons."

The blaze Hybrid broke into a wicked grin. "You got it, I'll be working on them in all of my free time, and Jimmy and Tommy can stay with me in the nether, my old workshop is still there."

Impulse clapped his hands together. "Alright, that puts our meeting at a close. I will see you all on Thursday and we will regroup with what we have."

The others left as Scott stayed back with a small smile on his face. "Jimmy, I meant everything by the way, so if you want you can stay at my place for the night, we can have a couple drinks watch a movie together and Tommy can stay in the spare room."

Tommy glanced at the two of them and then back to Tango. "Uh, can I stay with the fire guy? He seems really cool, and I don't want to be around you two being all like a couple."

Jimmy nodded. "Sure Tommy, have fun." He turned to Scott. "I suppose a few drinks and a movie wouldn't hurt but what if people recognise me?"

Scott laughed. "You'll be fine, it's just me in the house."

The two got into the car, Jimmy's body vibrating with nervousness as he found himself on Scotts sofa, a blanket covering him as he took a sip of the martini that Scott had made. The human didn't say much, simply leaning against Jimmy and enjoying the strange show that the TV was playing.

Jimmy found himself waking up to eggs and bacon being made in the kitchen.

The pretty guy's eyes met his and he flushed. "Thank you, Scott, it means a lot."

Scott chuckled. "It's nothing, I should probably take you back to Tango's. I know where he lives and I don't want to be late to work, the play is in a few days."

Jimmy nodded as Scott handed him the plate, the blend of food making his eyes sparkle from surprise at the myriad of flavors.

They stopped in front of the house as Scott got out and pulled open the car door helping Jimmy out making sure the bandana was covering his face.

Jimmy paused before leaning forward and leaving a kiss to Scott's cheek. "Thank you for the movie, I enjoyed it quite a bit."

Scott flushed and placed his hand on the cheek before smiling warmly trying to ignore the way his heart skipped. "Thank you, I enjoyed it as well."

He started up the car the blush growing even more on his face

To think that he had originally agreed to go on the blind date for information about the police, it's interesting how things change.
