It was morning.
You were standing in the middle of your kitchen.
You were surprised.
There was no food left and you didn't notice it until now?...
'WTF?! How was I staying home for the past days without noticing, that I was running out of food?! I didn't think of going shopping and now I've got nothing to eat!' you complained. 'And that's all Hideki's fault!!!' you added.
Actually, it was kinda true. If you were not thinking of him, the Kira-case, the meetings and what information he gave you, you wouldn't have ended up so unorganized.
Annoyed you searched the kitchen for something edible or something you could make for breakfast, but the only choice you had was a cup of coffee.
In fact, you went every weekend to the supermarket to buy enough food and other things you needed for the whole week, and since you lived alone, it wasn't a lot.
So you made a cup of coffee and got dressed to have breakfast in a bakery nearby. Even if it looked weird, you wanted to take the cup of coffee with you to drink it on your way and in the bakery, since it would only be a waste if you threw it away.
And that's what you did.
You closed the door of your dwelling and directed to the nearest bakery you knew. Underway you drank your coffee and thought embarrassed: 'I hope no one pays attention to the big cup, that I'm holding in the middle of the streets!' and from nowhere Hideki popped up in your mind.
~
After having a quite relaxing breakfast, you washed your cup and let it disappear in your handbag. "Now it's time for shopping!" you said to yourself and went out of the bakery. You took the way, which led you to the supermarket, but you had to stop when the traffic lights turned red. You saw two people on the other side of the street. They were also waiting for the lights to turn green. It was a brown haired young man about in your age, who was dressed in a white winter coat and a female adult with long black hair. She was dressed in black leather clothes. You couldn't hear what they were talking about, but from their faces and behavior, you knew it was something serious. And since you had nothing else to do while waiting, you kept watching them and it was interesting.
The young man was standing some steps behind the woman, but they were deep in conversation. They were probably not close or related and therefore not talking about private things. You were sure about that. They were both in their own thoughts when the boy stepped forward and watched the street. It looked like he was deep in thoughts about whatever the woman said to him.
After a while, the lights finally turned green and just before you started to move, you caught the guy forming an odd grin on his face when he finished talking and started to cross the street while being some steps ahead of the woman. They were coming closer, and the closer they came, the more obvious you recognized his smirk. You turned away from the boy to the woman who was walking behind the guy. She was coming closer to you and you watched her without taking your eyes from her face until she passed you. Then you slowed your steps.
'This woman... I know, I know, there is always something wrong with every person I meet in the streets...' you said to yourself as you turned to her.
'This woman...This face...' No matter how hard you tried, you couldn't ascertain what exactly was wrong with her. 'I guess I need to keep her in my sight if I want to find out whatever...' That's why you decided to follow them.
'I'm not a stalker, I'm just an unpaid private investigator!' you excused yourself for following strangers around.
Now the woman was walking next to the young man. None of them said a word. Suddenly they stopped and exchanged some words. The boy stepped in front of the woman and took out a note block and waited for the woman. She then started to talk, while the boy was nothing.
'Huh?' you wondered and slowed your steps to keep distance to them. 'Woman talking and boy noting. Doesn't look like an interview, but more like... like what? What must be so important, that they stop in the middle of the streets to note it down?' you asked yourself.
'Probably important information. And since they don't look like they were close to each other, I think they are noting important facts for some investigation!' you fastened your steps to pass them and catch some of their conversation, but then the boy put the note block back into his coat-pocket and continued walking next to the woman.
Now there was a low distance between you and them. You were able to hear their voices, but it wasn't much that you understood even though there was no traffic. They didn't talk much and you put on your hood and got a little bit closer. After a while of walking, the woman turned to the boy and said something, that you fully understood.
You widened your eyes as you heard her saying: "Kira will definitely be caught, don't you think?"
'I knew it was connected to some investigations, but I never expected it to be the Kira investigations! I can't let them go now. I need to know more!' you became more curious and kept following them unobtrusively.
The boy kept checking his watch the whole time while they were walking, but you didn't pay attention to it. Instead, you watched the woman, who was surely an investigator. She didn't look like she was from Japan. Maybe she is here to investigate the case, you thought as you arrived a large fountain. You watched the woman stop and say something to the boy as she left him. She was taking the direction she was coming from. You wanted to follow her, but suddenly you observed, that you were not the only one who wanted to follow the woman. The young man did too.
Or..., maybe he just wanted to go home and this direction led him home. But no! As you followed the woman behind the boy, you could see how his eyes were fixed on her. He was watching her and certainly following her. 'That's really strange...' you thought.
But then, all of sudden he started to hurry to her. The black haired woman stopped and both talked. The boy looked kind of unsure. 'Was he following her quietly to think of an excuse to talk to her? And now he was trying it? What does he want to know? Maybe it's something he wants to know but the woman didn't want to tell him. Now he tries again. Yeah, that would make sense...' you thought.
Now you were very close to them. You slowed your steps to get as much as possible from their conversation as you were passing them.
Indeed...
Your heart started to beat faster as you heard the following: "Right now L is in charge with the task force and is commanding the investigations. L was in a pinch because of the lack of people. Many people quit because they were afraid of Kira. I'm still..."
That's all you could understand, but you couldn't believe it...
'L was... he was leading the Kira-investigations with the task force... L...!'
Your surprised face expression turned into a smirk. 'Well well! Nice information, thank you!' you said still smirking. You passed the police station and kept walking, making your way to the supermarket, that you planned to go to.
Enough of following strangers around.
Enough of spying out.
And, enough information for now.
You could still hear the boy talking insistently to the woman, trying to convince her or something, but you were no longer interest in knowing what it was, even though you knew it was about the Kira case.
Knowing that L was now in charge of the task force and that so many people have quit means, that it's serious. L can't handle the case alone plus he never showed himself to anyone. he believes that teamwork is a good and required way to catch Kira and solve the case.
'But..., that boy. He knew that L joined the police and it only means, that he is very close to the police, but he looks so young to be an investigator. Maybe he solves cases while being a student, like me. Or he is related to someone who works in the task force, but no, his relative wouldn't tell so easily, because such information are very secret issues which aren't allowed to be told to anyone, unless...' you were deep in thoughts when you entered the supermarket. You took everything you needed, including a lot of sweets and went to the check stand.
'...Unless he got access to the investigation files. Hmmm...This is also a way to explain Kira's method of getting the investigating files. It could be possible that this boy was Kira! But...'
A noisy voice interrupted your thoughts.
"...Next please...!" It was the annoyed cashier who was waiting for you. "Oh...uh..sorry" you excused in a low voice and paid quickly. Then you started to put everything in a shopping bag and deepened again in your thoughts.
'...But I'm still wondering who this woman was?! Her face was somehow familiar to me. As if I saw her before, but since I wasn't in Japan for a long time, I must have seen her before. Somewhere outside Japan. And the only reason why she is here must be because of the case...' When you heard yourself thinking that, you suddenly froze and a flashback popped up in your head...
~
Flashback:
It was about a year ago. You were doing a practical training as an FBI - investigator in the USA. As mentioned before, you wanted to become a detective yourself.
In the flashback, you saw yourself standing in front of a woman with long black hair, who was dressed formally and she smiled at you. She was holding a file with your information and identity.
"Welcome in the FBI headquarters. I'm Misora, your leader for this time. Please follow me to my office, (you full name)" She introduced herself as she headed to her office. You followed her. When you arrived the office, you sat down in front of her desk. There she enlighted you as to how work as a detective looks like and told you everything you should know. She even told you about her career and how she became a FBI-agent.
After discussing everything she gave you exam papers that you had to take.
You spent there 3 months working and experiencing everything.
With Miss Misora.
Naomi Misora....
Flashback ends.
~
You opened your eyes.
'How could you forget her???' you wondered.
And now she is probably here to investigate in the Kira-case.
You gasped and immediately sprinted out of the supermarket.
'Oh, my goosh! I've to find her right now! I'm sure she still remembers me. From her, I could not only get information about the boy she was talking to, but also information about the whole case!' you thought as you ran to the place, where you saw her last. 'Misora trusts me. She knows everything about me and She will surely accept my help in the case if I ask for it. She knows my investigation abilities and that I'm going to become a detective myself, so she won't have any problems with letting me investigate with her...! I've to find her!'
Then, when you arrived the police station, where you left her and the boy least, you found it empty. there was no one in your sight, so you started running all the way back to where you saw them first, but no trace of any of them. You wanted to find her. If you don't find her now, then you probably won't see her again.
No! You didn't want to give up.
You started to take other streets and searched for either Misora or the boy.
You asked some people, but none of them could help you along.
You went back to the police station and asked for Naomi Misora, and indeed. She was here today.
You got excited and asked about her, but all the elder man said was: "I'm Sorry, young lady, but I can't tell you anything."
"Fine. I know these are private information but..." You took out your fake identity card, which showed you as an FBI agent and showed it to them. "I know I look young, but I'm actually an FBI agent. And I need to know what she wanted from here!" you explained seriously. Both men on the reception believed you. "Oh, we apologize, miss (last fake name). We didn't know that you were an agent." the younger one excused, while the other man told you what you wanted to know.
"Back to your question, the black haired woman came to speak directly with someone from the special investigation task force. She said it was urgent, but there was no one at the task force headquarters. She wanted us to contact them somehow. She had important information related to the Kira-investigation and didn't want to leave a note, but wanted to talk privately to them." you listened very carefully. "...And then?" you questioned because you knew that she didn't give up so easily and left. "Then the son of the chief Soichiro Yagami came to leave a change of clothing for his father before he started to talk to the woman. He said, he can contact his father and let him talk to her...and, then both left." The other man completed.
"Important information she had to tell privately to the Kira-investigators..." you said loud to yourself and then turned to the men. "Didn't she left anything, a name, or something else? Did she come before?" you asked because she was an FBI agent and would have no problems with contacting them and talking to the task force. "Uhh, no Miss, she didn't... Is is that important..?" she taller man asked you in an unsure tone.
"It is." you answered, "Because she... forget it! Can I please leave a note for her? Just in case she comes back?!" you replied and didn't want to mention the fact that she was an FBI agent. She has her reasons for keeping that secret, just like you did with your last name when meeting Hideki. The tall man agreed and you wrote down a note for Misora. 'Why just didn't she tell that she investigates. They would make sure, she will contact someone from the task force.' you still wondered.
When you finished, you made sure they won't tell anyone of you.
"I really hope she will come back to the police station.." you said to yourself and hoped, the son of the detective wasn't successful in helping her.
You sighed.
And then left the police station.
You were disappointed about the fact, that you didn't succeed in finding the woman called Naomi Misora. But you didn't give up.
Aimless you made your way along the street, walking slowly while trying to calm down from the action and running around. After a while of walking around, you stopped all of sudden.
"Shiiiit..." you froze in place and widened your eyes. "Where did I leave my shopping bags?!" You felt dumb when you remembered, that you forgot them in the supermarket.
"Shhhiiiiitt! I hope they are still where I left them..!!!" You said to yourself as you wanted to turn and sprint back to the supermarket. But instead, you stopped again. "Damn it..." you thought as you looked around. "Uhh..." you were confused when you couldn't recognize this place and didn't know where you were. You turned again and started to go back the way you came from.
"I'm wondering what the hell is wrong today?! First I meet two people talking secretly about the Kira case, then I forget my shopping bags in the supermarket, then I remember the woman and run around like crazy to find her, but I've no clue where she is. In the police station, I find out that she wanted to talk urgent to the task force but didn't mention that he was a detective... and now I'm lost..."
You walked around for a while, trying to remember where the police station was, but with no success. You took the right turn next and suddenly your eyes caught a person taking the next turn.
A woman.
With black hair.
'NAOMI!' popped up in your head as you immediately started to run after her.
"Miss Misora! Wait a minute!" you reached her but she didn't notice you. You walked next to her. "Uhh hello?...I'm...uhh, I need to talk to you for a moment, please." you started confused about the fact that she wasn't paying attention to you.
"I can't talk right now.. There is something I have to do." She finally spoke. Her voice was very calm, tired and cold.
"Misora, It's me, (your real name). Don't you remember me? I worked with you for 3 months. The practical work. In the USA." you were trying to get her attention.
"I remember." she only replied.
"I need to talk to you about the Kira case!" you hoped she will react to this.
"I've got nothing to tell you. Just leave me..." her boring voice sounded and you stopped.
'She wasn't emotionally dead when I was following her around earlier...' you noticed and hurried to her. "Then tell me about the boy you were walking with today. What did you discuss?"
"Oh, that boy. He is..." Misora said.
"He is what?" You questioned after she didn't finish her sentence.
"A boy. Please, I don't want to talk..." Her calm tired voice sounded and you stopped.
It was hopeless. She is not interested in you, or in what you had to say.
"Misora, what is so important, that you have to do?" you asked her from your place.
"Nothing.." her voice was quiet.
Ok. She had some important work to do, but it's nothing..?!
'Something is completely wrong here..' you wondered while watching Naomi leaving.
It was as if she was hypnotized.
In another world.
Completely different.
But since you couldn't do anything, you decided to leave. You turned, but it was hard for you to leave after you finally found her. You were soo close and you may have investigated with her and now that...
You shook your head and took any streets, trying to find back, but you were deep in thoughts with Naomi that you didn't concentrate on the way.
After a long while of walking around trying to find the way back to the police station where you started, you gave up.
You were completely lost and didn't know what to do now.
