As the group crept towards the entrance hall, which surprisingly wasn't crowded with people, Sandstorm stopped.
"Shh! Get behind Tango, & then you camouflage" she instructed, Tango was confused at first, until she heard voices approaching. They all ducted behind Tango, & the RainWing spread her wings to cover them best they could. She then thought of her surroundings, & her scales slowly faded into the background.
"WHAT DO WE DO!?" spoke a panicked Sunny, her voice sounding shaky, "MOON SOMEBODY DIED!"
Moon? Questioned Tango, but soon a voice answered her thoughts.
"Sunny i'm sorry, but you know that I've been trying to focus less on my visions & more on Queen Thorns issues!" spoke Moonwatcher, pretty much the savior of Jade Mountain.
Sunny sighed, & a wrestling of wings could be heard as a larger dragon landed.
"So..." said Clay's voice, "what's the plan?" There was a moment of silence before Moon spoke again, "I did have a prophecy, but it doesn't sound like anything from this century."
"WHAT WAS IT!?" said Clay & Sunny in sync, worry all over their tones. Moon sighed, but then sucked in a deep breath.
"Stalking darkness is the sand, envious of this peace & it's new land. As bones of a leaf are buried alive, who shall emerge but another new tribe. Peace & War are bound to collide, unless we abide to the laws of time. As concepts shake & kingdoms crumble, the true enemy shall halt with a grumble. If war is not raged & debts are not paid, our entire planet shall reach the eternal shade."
(prophecy is WIP, announcements will be made if it's changed)
Silence filled the room again, "You're right, that does sound out-dated" Clay commented, a slightly sarcastic tone coming to his voice.
"Well sorry it isn't good enough for you," huffed Moon, "It's not like it's my job to tell you guys when dragonets are gonna die!" To Tango's surprise, Sunny, Clay & Moon began arguing, though she wasn't sure what over.
She folded her wings & revealed her real scales once more, stepping back into the hallway.
"So that wasn't Ominus" commented Neptune. Sandstorm shrugged, "prophecies are over-rated" they all nodded in agreement. Tango pulled out a scroll, jotting the prophecy down.
"What do you think it means?" asked Swallow, looking up at Sandstorm. Tango also turned to the hybrid, & she arched a brow. "Just because i'm half Nightwing doesn't mean I know anything about this stuff" she said, flicking her tail slightly.
Neptune arched a brow, "please, Striker told me you lived with your dad for your entire life. You have to know SOMETHING." Sandstorm sighed, annoyed.
"My best guess is there's another vengeful Nightwing, for the first sentence. 'Bones of Leaf' could mean like- a tree? 'Peace & War are bound to collide' probably means & peaceful kingdom will start war...uhm."
Sandstorm paused, obviously brainstorming for a moment. "As for 'Concepts shake & kingdoms crumble', that just sounds like some dumb filler. 'Eternal Shade' probably means space."
Everybody started at Sandstorm, & Neptune sighed, "thank you for clarifying nothing useful." Sandstorm scoffed, but didn't reply.
"HEY!" shouted Moon's voice. Tango turned to see the Nightwing looking at them with an arched brow.
"O-oh uhm, h-hi Moon" squeaked Tango, waving.
"Care to explain why you know my prophecy?" she asked, looking down at Tango with extreme disappointment. "Uhm...lucky guess?" Tango said, folding her wings in even closer to herself.
Moon rolled her eyes, "Go do other things than snoop! Shoo!" With Moonwatchers words in mind, they all awkwardly walked away in a different direction.
Tango noticed Sandstorm glance at Moon with wide eyes as they left, as if recalling an old memory.
"I think we should have thought of the fact that Moon can see the future," observed Neptune, to which Swallow arched a brow & replied, "you think?"
Tango sighed, "guys let's not fight. We still have to figure out what happened to Eucalyptus!"
Sandstorm nodded, "speaking of which.." the hybrid turned to Tango, "I saw you outside last night, stargazing. Shortly before Eucalyptus died."
Tango froze.
"W-what?" she stuttered, he scales paleing a bit. Sandstorm's expression remained serious & blank, as per usual.
"Right, I remember you saying you were going outside," said Neptune, narrowing her eyes. Swallow took a step back.
"Wha- g-guys I wouldn't kill Eucalyptus! There's no motive or r-reason!" said Tango, her voice shaky.
"There is one," Sandstorm spoke, "she was one of your bullies."
Tango didn't know what to do. This was so sudden, & for what reason? Had Sandstorm known the entire time? If so, why was she just bringing it up?
Suddenly, the crown from Tango's satchel jerked out of the bag, clanging to the floor. They all stared at it, confused.
"I-I- the crown did it! The crown killed Eucalyptus I swear!" Tango exclaimed, tears forming in her eyes. She swallowed them back down, "that's why it just- just MOVED!"
Neptune raised a suspicious brow, but didn't say anything. Sandstorm scoffed, "you expect us to believe a crown tore a dragons wings off, snapped every bone in her body, & then appear in your satchel?"
"...Sandstorm.." started Swallow, "Sunny never told us how the dragon died." Sandstorm shrugged, "like I said, I saw the corpse."
"Yeah but, I don't think you could determine every bone being broken if there were no bones," mused Neptune, "why were you out anyways? I mean- if you saw Tango."
Tango looked up at Sandstorm, who frowned. "So were dismissing Tango's odd statement now, & pointing talons at me?" she asked, her voice cold.
The clock medallion around her chest slowly ticked in the silence, & Sandstorm turned her back. "The only crime I ever committed was killing off threats in the Scorpion den, certainly not a Leafwing student."
Tango watched as the hybrids tail flicked dangerously, & she spoke one last time before leaving. "You can continue this investigation without me."
She then walked off.
"So..." said Neptune awkwardly, "I don't think it was you, Tango. You're right, you have no motives & lets be honest, you'd probably cry."
Tango nodded, but didn't verbally respond. She reached her talons out to pick the crown up off the floor, but it rose into the air, catching the three by surprise.
"UHM, TANGO?" said both Neptune & Swallow, & Tango's eyes widened. "I don't know! It's been moving around since I got it!"
The crown reached a certain point in the air, & stopped moving upwards. It hovered for a moment, before an image of a familiar dragon flickered beneath it, grinning psychotically.
The crown then dropped abruptly & they all stared.
"UHG, TOO MANY CONFUSING THINGS HAVE HAPPENED ALL AT ONCE TODAY & MY BRAIN CAN'T HANDLE IT!" shouted Neptune, who groaned shortly after.
Swallow & Tango nodded in agreement, & Tango shoved the crown back into her bag.
"I don't think any of the Dragons of Destiny would believe us if we described this situation," Swallow pointed out.
Tango took her turn to groan, & flopped onto the floor.
"WHY CAN'T SCHOOL BE NORMAL FOR ONCE!?" she complained.
