"-can you believe she said that?!" dior finished telling us drama about this girl she doesn't like.
everyone starts dying laughing when i get a call.
"hold on guys my moms calling." i say still laughing.
i walk out the door and close it.
"hey mom what's-" i start to say but i hear sniffles on the other side of the phone. "is everything okay?"
"y/n, i just got a call from collective services. your dad passed this morning."
my heart drops. tears start to brim my eyes.
even though my dad and i aren't close, nobody wants a call saying that they're gone.
"i know i'm not home right now, but do you want to come home?" my mom asks me.
"no, i don't want to be alone right now."
"okay, i'm so sorry to spring this on you honey."
"it's not your fault."
"i love you sweetie."
"i love you too, bye."
i hang up and stare at the wall, processing the awful news i just got.
i realize i'm taking awhile and my friends are probably wondering where i am so i wipe away my tears and enter the room.
"hey, sorry i took so long." i say, my voice hoarse and cracking.
"hey, are you okay?" charlie asks.
"yeah, i'm good, what's going on now?"
"dior is telling the 2nd half of her story." leah says laughing a bit.
walker stands up. "y/n can you help me with something in the kitchen?"
"course'."
he grabs my hand and pulls me out of the room
he drags me into the bathroom and locks the door.
"wait, i thought-" i start to say but he cuts me off with a hug.
a big, warm, comforting, gentle hug.
i slowly start to cry and he cradles my head.
as i start to cry more and more, he sways us back and forth.
"it's okay, 𝐥𝐞𝐭 𝐢𝐭 𝐨𝐮𝐭."
i just squeeze him more and dig my head into his chest.
he gives a gentle, reassuring kiss on the top of my head.
i'm so thankful for this boy. he is always there for me, never rushing me to tell him what's wrong. he's just there, sometimes that's all a girl needs.
plus his shirt smells like teakwood, so bonus!
as my crying comes to a halt, i look up and into his eyes, he then looks in mine.
"do you want to talk about it?" he asks just above a whisper.
he slides down the wall and sits on the floor. he then gently taps the spot next to him.
i sit down then lay my head on his shoulder.
"my dad died this morning." i manage to muster out.
he knows my difficult relationship with him, but he also knew i still loved him.
he sets his chin on my head and rubs circles on my back.
"i'm so sorry y/n, is there anything i can do for you? i'll buy you food, stuffed animals? anything you want." he pulls my chin to look at him.
i shake my head. "having you here is enough."
he smiles and pulls me in for another hug.
KNOCK KNOCK
"everyone okay in there?!" aryan asks through the door.
"hold on, just give us a minute!" he somewhat yells through the door.
"okay!"
"are you ready to get back out there?" walker returns to his soft voice.
i nod and kiss him on the cheek.
"thank you walk, what would i do without you?"
he holds my hand as we go back into the room, continuing gossip with everyone.
not once did he let go of my hand.
