On the third ring the phone was picked up. My heart thudded hearing my mom’s voice, “Amy? Are you ok? You usually don't call me.” she sounded a bit suspicious.
I let out an irritated sigh, “Could you stop being the suspicious mother and just listen?” I asked picking at the grass nervously.
“Don't tell me you’re pregnant!” she cried out.
I groaned, “MOM! I'm not pregnant!” I yelled at her.
She snickered, “I was only playing. Now tell mommy what happened.” I sighed; my mom seriously doesn't act like a vampire.
Ok… here it goes, “So… know how I was sent here to… control myself…” I wondered turning my attention to the sea.
“Yah…” she asked again a bit suspicious.
I gulped slightly, “I uh… well I have controlled myself around nana and grandpa but… I just… I don't know what to do.” I admitted looking down in shame.
She let out a small laugh, “Let me guess, it’s a boy that smells so good you can’t resist?”
My head snapped up and my eyes widened; I looked at the phone, “How did you know?” I whispered a bit suspicious at her.
“Now who is the suspicious one?’ she mused softly before clearing her throat, ‘how do you think your father and I met?”
I paused; so mom wanted to kill dad and they ended up dating? Well that’s a lovely story to tell your kid…
“But… I have almost killed him 3 times.” I told her in a soft tone.
She let out a soft sigh and I could imagine her putting her hand on my shoulder, “Amy; you are a vampire, humans are our food. If you want to bite him, bite him… wait does he know you’re a vampire?”
I chewed on my lip, “Maybe.”
She sighed again making me imagine she was rubbing her forehead, “Ok… has he freaked out?”
I relaxed slightly and smiled, “No… he doesn't even seem fazed by it… no matter how many times I yell at him to go away.”
She let out a small giggle, “Your father was the same way. I remember that he even offered his neck to me because I told him I was going to keep coming after him till I got his blood.” She mused softly.
Wait so dad did that to mom? He didn't offer his neck to me but he wants it…
“But mom… what should I do? I want his blood but… I don't want to kill him.” I started picking at the grass again. If I killed him he would be gone… I don't want Wyatt to be gone.
“You don't know till you bite him. I got to go, love you honey.” She gave a kiss through the phone and hung up.
I set my phone down looking out to the ocean. What great help she was. Her solution to everything is, bite a person. Oh you’re going to vampire puberty, bite someone! Oh you got your fangs, bite someone! Oh you are scared of killing someone, bite someone!
I grabbed my hair in frustration, “It’s just so frustrating!” I yelled out into the air, but it faded into the wind.
I sighed lying back; it’s not like I can do anything about it. I have to find a way to control it… to stop myself… maybe if I hold my breath when around him?
What happened to wanting his blood for your-self? A small part of me whispered teasingly.
I bit my lip and shook my head; I can control myself. I'm not a monster. I got up clenching my right hand tight, “I can do this.”
I smiled towards the open ocean and grabbed my phone. I jogged back to the house and saw the sun was beginning to set, dinner would be ready soon.
I hopped through my window easily and showered before dressing and headed down stairs. As if perfect timing the door bell rang. I noticed the table was already set up so I went and got the door.
I pulled the door open and first saw a mad Ariel. I opened the door more, “Come inside fishy.” I teased smiling slightly.
She huffed walking past me to the dining room. I look over to Wyatt and gave him a small smile, “Come inside…” I muttered motioning for him to come.
He stepped inside with his cheeks already slightly pink. I smirked slightly; he is probably thinking about earlier… I don't know but I feel sort of proud I got him to feel like that…oh and not to mention he spoke to me! Double bonus!
I closed the door walking past him to the dining table helping nana bring out the food. It was sea food. I instantly stopped, “Um nana… I don't eat sea food.”
She gave me a look, “And why not?” she asked putting her hand on her hip.
“It gives me tummy aches.” I rubbed my stomach pouting.
She rolled her eyes, “Fine then, make yourself something else, but you better be sitting at the table when you eat.” She warned.
I smiled and nodded; she walked to the table and I saw them begin to eat. I got some leftovers heating them up and went to the table.
I saw Ariel give my plate of leftovers a look, “Why aren't you eating sea food?” she sounded almost envious.
I smirked slightly as I took a bite, “Because fish is gross and smelly.” I saw her eyes darken in anger as she glared at me.
I giggled and ate. After dinner like always I cleaned the kitchen and Wyatt joined. All I could smell right now was dish soap so that is fine.
“Wyatt I'm leaving.” Ariel spat bitterly.
I watched her leave then went back to my work. After we were done I walked him to the door; I had noticed my grandparents had gone to their rooms.
I opened the door for him and smiled, “Bye Wyatt.” I gave a small wave.
He walked out then paused and turned around, “I wanted to ask you something.” He looked down at the ground as he spoke softly.
I don't think I'm going to get over how nice sounding his voice was…
“Yes?” I kind of just wanted him to continue talking to me.
He scratched the back of his head, “Well… this Saturday is a beach festive… did you want to go with me?” he asked and I saw his cheeks tint.
I defiantly need him to speak more; I stepped towards him smiling then stepped back quickly, “Yah sure! That will be wonderful! See you tomorrow!” I yelled quickly and shut the door. I gulped praying he would walk away.
When I had stepped towards him his smell over powered the faint soap smell and now I was starting to crave his blood. I could feel my heart already beginning to pump faster in my chest.
I sighed when I heard him walk away… at least he didn't do anything.
I wiped my forehead in relief and went up to my room. I looked at my calendar; it was only a few days till Saturday…
