Jayde's POV
"Try not to have too much fun though. The boys are watching." Liz said playfully.
I chuckled at her remark and turned my attention to Mike.
He pulled my chair out at the table and I sat down while thanking him.
"My pleasure" He said with a smile as he sat across from me.
He spoke again saying, "I was hoping you'd be the first date."
"Oh stop it." I said.
"I'm serious and you look stunning... practically glowing, but that's not a surprise to me." He said flirtatiously as I smiled.
"Thank you Mike. I appreciate that."
"It's nice to see you out of your pajamas." He said playfully referencing our initial encounter.
"You know what... we weren't expecting to have a new addition to the villa so you caught all of us lackin' this morning." I said and we both shared a laugh.
Anybody's POV
"I still can't believe he brought her a smoothie this morning. That was a bold move." Deja said as the other girls agreed.
"It was a sweet gesture though." Claudia expressed.
"Chris wouldn't agree with that." Liz said as they lightly chuckled.
"Well it's a good thing that she isn't interested in him because I want him." Sophie said as the girls turned their attention to her.
"So fuck Dave huh." Liz said.
"I mean he took interest in Jayde for a minute too... not just Chris. So, as a result, I'm doing what I want." Sophie said.
"Well you go girl." Claudia said.
"Do you guys think Jayde will turn her head for him?" Sophie asked.
"I'm not sure. She seems pretty happy with Chris even though it's been a short time." Deja insisted.
"Things change though." Sophie said.
"They do but I think Chris just hit it off with her more. It seems like they have a lot of fun in each other's company." Claudia stated.
"Well maybe if Dave wanted to spend more time with me like that then maybe I wouldn't be eager to turn my head from him." Sophie said while letting out a heavy sigh.
"I get it... have you talked to him about that?" Deja asked.
"No... I didn't think he'd care." Sophie said.
"Girl, your ass is vocal about all the wrong things. How about you be vocal and talk to him about that." Liz said as the other girls agreed.
"What's going on with you and Jesse?" Sophie asked throwing shade.
"Girl you can deflect all you want. Jesse and I are doing just fine as friends. We're hoping that someone comes in for both of us. Now, like I said, be vocal about shit that matters instead of being shady and in everyone's business." Liz rebutted as Claudia and Deja gave each other side eyes.
"Damn. Tough crowd." Sophie said chuckling embarrassingly.
"Anywho, I wonder what the boys are talking about." Deja said.
"Chris is probably dying for their date to be over." Claudia said looking towards the terrace with the rest of the girls.
Chris' POV
"You ok Chris?" Dave asked.
"Hell yea" I responded as I laid back on the couch.
We're on the terrace to look out at the dates, but I left the balcony area to come chill.
The rest of the guys are still observing.
"You not worried?" Johnny asked as he came to sit next to me.
I shook my head no.
"I'm chillin'. She reassured me before she left." I said.
"You sure? This nigga just kissed the back of her hand." Dave said as I cut my head in their direction.
"She smiling hard as hell too. You got some competition." Tyler said as I stood to my feet and approached the balcony.
I watched her stay in her seat and they began to laugh.
"You really fell for that?" Jesse asked.
"Nigga, we was just playin'." Dave said laughing as I mugged them.
"You should've seen the look on your face." Johnny said joining in with the laughter.
"Ha ha ha fuck y'all." I said shaking my head and looking at the ground.
Shit, my heart was beating outta' my chest.
Damn, I guess it's official... I REALLY really like her.
Five Minutes Later
Jayde's POV
"It's just something about you... I'm like a moth to a flame." Mike said as I smiled and looked at the ground.
"Real smooth Mike." I said chuckling.
"It's the truth. I've really enjoyed this date. But, we're here on Love Island and before you leave... I have to ask about your coupling." He said.
"I'm listening." I said paying attention to him.
"You seem pretty happy with Chris." He suggested.
"That's true." I stated.
"Though it's early days still, you aren't closed off yet are you?" He asked.
"We're not. It's not a conversation we've had, but I'm enjoying my time with him." I said honestly.
"I can tell. He seems like a nice guy and everything." Mike replied.
"Just thought you'd be looking for a bit more..." He said to add on.
I raised an eyebrow.
"What more is that?" I asked.
"More excitement maybe." He said as I chuckled.
"Interesting. I didn't realize how bored I am with Chris." I stated sarcastically.
"I'm just saying... you never know. There's probably a steal coming up anyway. I might have to couple up with someone soon." He said as I scratched the back of my head.
"That might be true knowing how things work in here." I responded.
"Speaking of stealing... I would love to steal some more time with you. Plus, we have more privacy." He said.
"What do you mean?" I asked referring to the last part.
He tilted his head in the direction of the balcony.
Once I looked up, I noticed the boys were gone.
"I'd love you talk to you more... it might help me with the recoupling choice." He said.
I looked down at my fingers.
"What do you say? Wanna stay with me?" He asked.
"I gotta give the rest of the girls a chance to kick it with you." I said standing up from my chair.
"You sure? With the boys gone, we can let our guards down a little bit." He insisted once more.
"I better go... you have a busy schedule ahead of you. See you later Mike." I said with a smile as he stood to his feet.
He gave me a hug and spoke.
"It's all good... I'll come find you later." He said as I shook my head ok and walked away.
I don't think he knows how to read the room.
Anybody's POV
The boys quietly peaked over the balcony while Jayde walked away from Mike.
"He definitely lookin' at her ass." Tyler said as Chris pinched the bridge of his nose.
"Aye man don't stress it. At least she turned him down." Dave said.
Mike thought the guys left the balcony, but they went incognito and hid themselves. They were able to overhear parts of the conversation.
"Hell yea cause he asked her to stay with him longer and it seemed like she declined." Jesse said as Chris gave a slight smirk.
"Let me go find my girl." Chris said getting up and making his way downstairs.
"That nigga means business." Dave said to the guys as they chuckled in unison.
"Don't speak too soon my boy. Here goes Sophie." Johnny said.
"Her ass finna be thirsty. Just watch. The producers gone need to bring her ass a water bottle." Dave said as the guys cackled while continuing to watch undetected.
Jayde's POV
As I made my way towards the day beds, I saw Chris approaching.
A smile immediately appeared on my face and he mirrored it.
"Wassup?" Chris asked sweeping me off my feet unexpectedly.
I giggled lightly and he walked over to sit down on the bed.
I got comfortable under him and spoke.
"Missed me?" I asked with a smile.
"I won't lie... I did. How was it?" He asked with concern.
"It was alright. He was pretty cool. Definitely a bold one." I said honestly.
"I heard." Chris said as I sucked my teeth.
"Oh hush... you were bold too when you were pursuing me." I said.
"Now see that was different." He said as I shoved him playfully and we laughed in unison.
"Whatever" I replied.
"Were you worried?" I asked once more.
He sighed and looked across the lawn.
"I know that you're beautiful enough to turn some heads. So, I'll always be on my toes but I really think we got something good between us. In the friendship aspect and as far as us liking each other too." He explained as I agreed.
"I think the same."
"Now what's this about this nigga bringing you a smoothie this morning?" He asked and I laughed at his facial expression of disgust.
"Oh, see what had happened was." I said playfully.
"What had happened was my ass." He said while he started tickling me.
I laughed hysterically and gasped for air as we tustled on the day bed.
Once my laughter died down after a few moments, we were laying side by side.
He brushed his hand against mine and I felt his eyes turn to face my left cheek.
"I love your laugh. That's why I always try to make you do it." Chris admitted and I blushed.
"Boy please have you heard your laugh? It's so cute." I said as he chuckled.
"Thank you mama." He responded.
After a few seconds, Chris turned to face me and he grabbed the back of my hand to kiss it.
"I just want you to know that my head is with you. Truthfully." Chris said once more. I examined his face and I can tell how sincere he is.
"The feeling is mutual. You don't have to question that." I said as he looked down with doubts.
"I hope he doesn't have pick at the next recoupling." Chris said.
"Who knows? He might hit it off with one of the girls... maybe even Sophie." I stated.
"If he even looks yo' way imma just beat his ass." Chris said as I slapped his arm and laughed hysterically.
"Chris shut up. You can't just do stuff like that." I said as he joined in with me.
"I know. I just knew that was gonna make you laugh again." He said smiling at me.
"I can't stand you." I stated while shaking my head.
"Good thing you're laying down." He replied.
Suddenly, we heard Claudia laughing across the lawn.
"Damn, that nigga cannot be that funny." Chris said.
"Sounds like hateration to me." I said.
"Aw you Mary J. Blidge now?" He asked.
"You're not?" I asked as he stared at me, shook his head, and laughed.
"You need help." He said.
"We both do." I stated.
"You know what... you might be right. Let's book an appointment to see the lady." Chris said as I hugged him and he placed his arm around my back.
"Is the therapy free? In this economy I can't afford it if it's not." I said as he sucked his teeth and laughed at me.
"You can't afford it?! Girl you a whole doctor. Yo' ass just be talking." Chris said as I joined in with him.
"I'm just saying... maybe even a free trial would suffice." I said as he chuckled deeply and kissed my forehead.
"Yea... He definitely can't have you. I love yo' personality. You my dawg for real." He said as a grin surfaced on my face.
I'm so happy I wanna kick a leg up and giggle like a teenage girl.
Anyways, I wonder how the rest of the dates will go. Hopefully well because I need Mike off my back.
Moments Later after Mike's Dates
We all gathered by the pool and chilled on the bean bag seats.
"We don't have to speculate about Claudia's date with Mike. It was obviously good." Sophie said as I bucked my eyes at her shade.
"Why would you say that?" I asked. Chris gently rubbed my shoulder while I sat in his lap.
"I mean all of Fiji could hear her laughing." Sophie said as Claudia sucked her teeth.
"Who cares?" I asked.
"Me and the guys were talking about it before you all joined." Sophie responded.
"You know you're that bitch when you cause all this conversation." Claudia said in reference to Sophie's statements.
"Well, not to rain on your parade but we were discussing all of the dates... Not just yours." Sophie said.
"Oh well. The man can tell a joke or two. Think what you want love." Claudia responded.
"Why does Sophie always get herself into shit like this?" Chris whispered closely by my ear.
I shrugged my shoulders and shook my head.
"A great joke doesn't equal a great date." Deja said trying to help Claudia.
"Damn, and here I was thinking you were ready to marry me." Mike said playfully.
"Any thoughts Johnny?" Sophie asked.
"Nope. She had fun but it doesn't mean it was the best date ever." He responded.
"Damn" Chris mumbled behind me and I covered my mouth from laughing.
His commentary kills me.
"I don't think those words came out of Claudia's mouth, but I get it bro." Mike said confidently as I began to sense a little tension.
"The confidence on this guy is through the roof." Jesse said.
"I know right. First, making drinks for Jayde then you got Claudia hollering across the villa laughing." Tyler said instigating.
"Ight now not too much. Keep me out of it." I said.
"That's not true!" Claudia semi-yelled.
"I mean don't blame me if the girls had a good time. Ain't that right Sophie?" Mike asked as Chris and I looked at Dave.
He just laughed to himself while she kept quiet for the first time in forever.
As other side conversations began to break out, I overheard Sophie speak to Dave.
"He's not even all that. I'm 100% focused on you."
I scoffed and chuckled, then I heard Chris speak as he wrapped his arms across my chest from behind.
"Now you know her ass lyin'..."
I chuckled lightly and responded.
"Chris, the both of us don't need to be like this."
"I think our commentary is perfect." He said.
Suddenly, a phone pinged.
"Shit, I got a text." Claudia said as everyone paid attention to her and she began to read it aloud.
"Islanders, tonight there will be a recoupling. This time, the girls will be choosing who they would like to be coupled up with. #LadiesFirst #SwitchUp"
"Girls' choice??" Deja asked.
"This changes everything." Sophie said.
"Any of the girls could choose Mike." Jesse stated.
"Not gonna lie, I wasn't expecting a girls choice. But, I guess I gotta keep my flirting boots on. I love a challenge." Mike said looking at me as another ping sounded catching me off guard.
I pulled out my phone, so Chris and I could read the screen.
Chris said, "Choose wisely as the boy left single after the recoupling will be dumped from the villa. #DumpYouorNot #HereSheComes"
The boys started looking even more concerned and my jaw dropped.
"Oh no... somebody's going home again??" Deja asked.
"I hate this." Claudia said.
"Looks like you boys got some work to do too." Mike stated.
It's gonna be a very long night.
