Draco Lucius Malfoy
Blaise and Theo stood in their nice outfits, waiting for me. I just left Meira in our room, and I'm hoping that the boys can't tell.
"You're late Draco," Blaise says annoyed.
"I'm right on time actually, not everyone feels the need to be 20 minutes early for everything".
Blaise rolls his eyes but says nothing else on the matter. The three of us make our way to where the dinner is set up. My mother stood there talking to Pansy. When she looks over at me, her eyes showing fear, she waves me over.
"Draco darling, you look lovely. Where is Meira?"
"Should be out soon, she is fixing her hair or something," I say as casual as possible.
"Oh alright, I just want to talk with you quickly," She glances around a little frantic.
"Sure mother, what is it?"
"I want you to be careful tomorrow".
"Careful?"
"Be aware of your surroundings, events like these in a time like this".
"Mother, do you know something? Something you're not telling me?"
She hesitates which means she absolutely does know something.
Out of the corner of my eye, I see Meira. I turn fully, her catching my attention. She looks beautiful, no surprise there. My mother squeezes my arm so my attention is back on her.
"Just remember what I said, I want you safe".
"Yes, mother. It's fine".
Meira makes her way over to me. I can tell by her face something is wrong but she's trying to contain it.
"Draco, I need to talk to you about something".
My mother hesitantly walks away, leaving us. Meira shifts in her heels.
"Yes?"
"You're not going to like what I'm about to say, and I promise I'm only telling you because I care".
"Can it wait? I have to go with Blaise and Theo".
"No Draco, this isn't about us either," she whispers. "We're all in danger, or will be. The wedding is being targeted".
"Targeted? Meira no one knows when the wedding is except for the people going".
Blaise and Pansy made it very clear that the wedding should be lowkey and kept to the family. They didn't wany Voldemort to show up.
"That's the part I didn't want to tell you, your mother has told the Order about the wedding. She's betrayed you all Draco. I got a letter!"
She pulls some parchment out of her dress band, handing it to me frantically.
A letter from George Weasley. I read through quickly and immediately become annoyed and maybe a bit worried.
"Why would he write to you? Have you been in contact with him?"
She panics, "No! I don't know, we've only talked the time we saw him! I'm not sure why he wanted to tell me, I have no contact with anyone over there".
I want to believe her, but I honestly didn't know who to believe. George could be telling Meira things to scare her but I also know Weasley enough to know that he probably is telling her what he knows to be true.
"You think my mother would betray us like that?"
"I don't know, I think she's conflicted Draco. I'm not sure what's going on or what's true," she says honestly.
If what George is saying is true, then I'd have to be carful. I knew I couldn't bring it up to my mother, she would just deny everything.
"I'll keep an eye out Meira, don't worry. Keep this between us ok? I don't want to scare Pansy or Blaise".
She nods quickly, "Right, right we don't want to ruin their day".
I glance around to make sure no one is looking and lean in quickly to kiss her on the cheek. "I don't want you to worry too much ok? I'll make sure you're safe if anything arises".
"Thank you Draco".
"No, thank you for telling me. I'm glad you didn't keep that to yourself".
She looks down at her feet, mumbling something but before I could ask her what she said, Blaise called me over.
"Best man duties love, go hang out with the girls. I'll see you later".
I walk over to Theo and Blaise. "What was that about?" Theo asks.
"Oh nothing, don't worry about it."
"She looks gorgeous, doesn't she?" Theo asks me, nodding over to Meira.
"Of course she does, she always does".

July 8th, 1998
Draco Lucius Malfoy
Blaise and Pansy are getting married today. I am nervous for a multitude of reasons. After what Meira had said to me yesterday, I can't help but wonder if we are all in danger. That is the last thing I want for Blaise and Pansy but there is no way to stop what is going on in the war.
The two of them really are in love, and that's another thing that made me nervous. They have shown me what real love looks like and I'm not sure I'll ever have that or if I really even want it.
"Draco come on! The ceremony is about to start," Theo says, snapping me out of my thoughts.
I follow Theo out to the front alter, Daphne and Astoria on the other side. I look out to the small crowd of people seated in front of us. I spot Meira in the back, where she would remain mostly hidden.
She looked absolutely stunning, she wore a green dress, that flowed out at her feet but was tighter up top. She looks better than I could have expected.
The entire ceremony, I was a little on edge. I kept my eyes on all entrances but also on Meira. My eyes kept drifting to her. However, there were no disturbances.
The ceremony went as planned and two of my friends are now happily married. It feel like I'm not even here, like I was in my own world. There's too much going on in my head.
As we make our way to the reception, Meira walks over to me holding on to Theo's arm. She was holding on tight, and I couldn't tell if it because of nerves or if she really just wants to hold onto him.
"Do you want to tell me what's going on you two?" Theo asks. "Meira hasn't stopped shaking since I got to her, and surely she's not nervous about dancing".
Meira looks at me and shakes her head a little. I knew she didn't want to talk about anything right now. I also know how nervous she was about us potentially being in danger.
At the moment it didn't seem like we were in danger at all. In fact there was no indication all day that we were in danger. Maybe I could relax a little.
"She's nervous that someone here will question her, that's all. Nothing to worry about".
Meira didn't say anything, she just looked at me, unsure if she should chime in. She looked so vulnerable and I had the urge to hold her. An urge I hadn't had before right now. So instead of that, I ask her a simple question.
"Meira, will you dance with me?"
She nods, taking my hand and I lead the two of us to the dance floor. She doesn't say a word. As soon as we start swaying together, I felt a strange sense of calm. I haven't felt this calm in so long.
Meira smiles at me ever so slightly, almost like she knew I was calm. She the only one that knows me so easily, and that scares me. Instead of freaking out like I typically would, I pull her in a little closer.
Meira smiles brightly at me when I sway us a little more, and for the first time in so long, I feel good.
