POEM TIME!!! I've been working on this since the last poem, just so y'all know how well planned I am :'/
The air still stung with shouted words,
A battlefield of bitter birds
That pecked and tore at fragile trust,
A love denied, turned into dust,
Or so it seemed, just minutes past,
A future shattered, built to last
Now crumbling fast, a painful sight,
Beneath the fading evening light.
But Alex stood, remorse ablaze,
A sudden fear in hazy maze
Of tangled thought, a truth unfurled,
A different need within the world.
He saw Max standing, stiff and still,
Emotion warring against his will,
His face a mask, a stoic frame,
Concealing love, concealing pain.
And something shifted, broke apart,
The hardened shell around his heart.
He ran, a blur, a whispered plea,
A desperate vulnerability.
He leaped into Max's waiting hold,
A story in the arms of old,
And whispered, choked, a fragile sound,
"I need you," on familiar ground.
The fight receded, lost and gone,
A new dawn breaking, fresh and strong.
Not the red heat of passion's fire,
But something deeper, something higher.
For Max had been a constant star,
A steady hand, however far
Alex had pushed him, run away,
He'd always been there, come what may.
He needed Max, not just for touch,
But for the grounding he'd so much
Deny himself, deny the grace
Of finding comfort in that place.
And Max, embracing, understood,
This fragile peace, this nascent good.
He needed Alex, yes, it's true,
But Alex needed him, anew.
A different love, a binding thread,
More than romance, the words now said
Were of a friendship carved in stone,
A need so deep, they'd never be alone.
