Whole ride was silent.after aksath breakdown no one dared to speak.his jaw was clenched, knuckles turning white because of anger bubbling inside him but a guilt also flashed because he fought with his love, his adrika.
Adrika was looking out of the window, her eyes glistened with unshed tears not because he yelled but due to his pain, his heart that bear too much.ruhaan was sleeping in her arms peacefully while lavanya still wide awake.
Car stopped at the mansion with a halt.adrika glanced at aksath who was wiping away lavanya tears.
"Shhh sorry baccha, dadda scared you?"he asked, his voice low and tender.lavanya lips curved outward and her eyes glistened.
He took a deep breath then hugged her, rubbing hands over her arms"sorry baccha,I am really sorry".
Lavanya sniffed, her voice was too low, filled with innocence "y...you fight with didi".
Aksath hands stopped in middle, adrika also shifted on her place uncomfortably.
"Y...you was crying,I don't like it"she mumbled last part,a lone tear escaped down from her eyes.he kissed in her hairs gently.
"Sorry beta,I will not do this again".
She shook her head"no...say sorry to didi"lavanya mumbled while pouting.her baby hairs was falling over her eyes.aksath glanced up at her who was already looking at him.
Their eyes met with each other and her grip unknowingly tighten around ruhaan.his eyes soften immediately"sorry".
Just a only word, her heart flutter wildly.his voice low, deep and unintentionally husky .she just nodded her head in silence.her mind screamed to tell him that it's ok,no need for it but her heartbeat never supported.
Lavanya smiled between her tears and gave him a quick peck on his cheek."I love you".
Aksath ruffled her hair with a smile which didn't spread till his eyes.adrika opened car door and came out with ruhaan in her arms.lavanya also stepped out with aksath, walking inside the mansion.
Ruhaan stirred in his sleep, his eyes opened and he looked around in confusion.adrika gave him a light smile "Good morning ruhaan".
Lavanya looked up instantly like she saw a ghost.ruhaan rubbed his eyes, yawning softly "Good morning masi".
Aksath couldn't help but chuckled softly, his heart was still heavy but the innocence on his face made him smile.
"Masi, where is mumma?"he asked.adrika made him sit on the couch and ruffled his hair"she is sleeping don't disturb her ok"
He hummed and lay down on bed, staring at nothing.lavanya sat beside him and both adrika and aksath went inside the kitchen.
"Are you ok?"lavanya asked confusedly while checking his temperature, then his pulse rate
"What happened to me?"ruhaan asked.
"Morning? seriously?"lavanya replied while glaring at him.
"Ooo morning....so it is not morning ye,hmm maybe I woke up too early".
Lavanya stared at him in disbelief.her own mind was swirling looking at him"oh hello, this is night ...not morning".
"Hmm maybe you are sleepy till now, wait I will grab some water for you"ruhaan said, standing up on his feet for water but before he could take a step, lavanya caught his wrist.
"Are you mad?".
"Nope, and maybe you are because What one says is what one is" Ruhaan replied calmly.
She scoffed and held his hand , walking towards the window.she opened a window of the nearby garden door side .cold air brushed their hairs back, making them shiver.
"Owwwiii it's too cold,I will never wake up early again"ruhaan mumbled while rubbing his arms.
Lavanya groaned while smacking his head"Abey jangali janwar it is night time..are you blind, see tat moon...stars "
Ruhaan glanced at the sky and clicked his tongue "heeee sollllly".
Lavanya rolled her eyes and sat down on the couch, still glaring at him.
The mansion was quiet ,too quiet for a house that once echoed with laughter. The soft tick of the clock was the only sound as Aksath walked toward the kitchen. His eyes still carried traces of what had happened earlier red, heavy, and lost.
Adrika followed a few steps behind. She didn't say anything, just walked slowly. Her heart still ached for him, for the way he had broken down in front of everyone, for the pain he had tried to hide for too long.
When he switched on the kitchen light, the warm white glow touched their faces. The counters were spotless, the utensils neatly arranged.
Aksath rolled up his sleeves and turned on the stove. "They should eat something before sleeping,"he said, his voice quiet, steady but hollow.
Adrika's throat felt tight, but she managed to nod. "I'll help."
He didn't look up, didn't stop her either. "Hmm."
She stepped closer, watching him gather vegetables from the fridge. He moved automatically, hands used to the rhythm - washing, chopping, stirring - without needing to think. His silence was thick, but not cold.
Adrika reached for a knife, trying to copy him. She cut the onion clumsily - too thick, uneven. Her fingers trembled slightly, and one small piece slipped off the board. She bent to pick it up, but Aksath's hand reached first.Their fingers brushed together but he jerked his hand away slowly.
He quietly placed the onion aside and handed her a smaller knife. "You'll hurt yourself with that one."
Her voice came low, barely audible. "I don't really know how to cook"
His movements slowed."Then why are you helping?"
She hesitated for a heartbeat. "Because you shouldn't be doing it alone."
Aksath's hands stopped mid-motion. For the first time since entering the kitchen, he looked at her. His eyes weren't sharp anymore - just tired, heavy with something that made her chest ache. He didn't say anything, just turned back to the stove.
The soft sound of oil sizzling filled the silence. He added cumin and let it crackle before dropping the onions in. Adrika watched, unsure what to do, until he spoke quietly - almost a whisper.
"Pass me the salt."
She did, her hand shaking slightly as their fingers brushed again.
He sprinkled it over the pan, stirred slowly. The smell of frying onions spread across the kitchen, faint and comforting.
Adrika leaned against the counter, watching him cook. The small things - the way his shoulders moved, how his breathing slowed down - made her realize he was grounding himself in this simple act.
After a while, she softly asked, "Do you... want me to knead the dough?"
He glanced at her, then nodded once. "There's flour in that steel jar."
She opened it, pouring the flour into a bowl. Her movements were unsure, too slow. When she added water, it immediately turned sticky. She tried to fix it, but it clung to her fingers completely.
Aksath turned at the small sound she made - a frustrated sigh. He watched her for a moment, the corner of his lip twitching faintly.
Without a word, he walked toward her, dusting his hands off. He picked up some dry flour and sprinkled it over her palms gently, careful not to touch too much. "It sticks less this way."
She nodded. "Thank you."
He didn't reply. He went back to stirring the vegetables, while she continued kneading. Her hands were slow, the dough uneven, but she tried. Every few seconds, she would glance at him - his focus, the quiet way he cooked, the heaviness still sitting in his shoulders.
When the dough was finally done, she wiped her hands on a towel. "Is this okay?"she asked softly.
Aksath turned, checked it briefly, and gave a small nod. "Yeah. That's fine"
Their voices had become softer with each word, almost careful - like they were afraid any louder sound would break whatever fragile peace was forming between them.
Lavanya peeked into the kitchen then, Ruhaan's hand in hers. "Dadda?"
Aksath immediately turned toward the door. "Yes, baccha?"
"Are you still sad?"
His lips parted slightly. He bent down to her level, shaking his head with a faint smile. "No, baccha. Dadda's fine now."
Lavanya tilted her head, studying him. "Then don't cry again, okay?"
Aksath's throat worked silently before he managed a quiet, "Promise."
She smiled and left, satisfied, dragging Ruhaan with her.
The kitchen fell silent again. Adrika was watching the exchange quietly, her fingers pressing the edge of the counter. When Aksath straightened up, he didn't look at her - just continued stirring, the sound of the ladle soft and rhythmic.
He turned off the stove after a while, tasting the curry briefly before transferring it into a bowl. The smell filled the kitchen - simple, homely, peaceful.
When he looked up again, Adrika was already setting plates on the counter. Her movements were quiet, thoughtful. She didn't speak, but he could feel the heaviness between them softening just a little - not gone, but bearable.
As he wiped his hands and walked toward her, the silence between them no longer felt suffocating.
It was still fragile, still full of unspoken things - but there was a softness now.
The beginning of calm after the storm.
Aksath dialled harshita number to ask them where they are...
"Hello"harshita spoke from other side.
"Bhabhi, where are you all...we are waiting for you".
"Aksath you should sleep...we will come Tommorow"
Aksath just hummed before cutting the call.adrika came again with ruhaan and lavanya.
"Curry"ruhaan and lavanya both exclaimed at the same time, jumping off on their places in excitement.both aksath and adrika chuckled softly.
Lavanya sat beside ruhaan far away from aksath and together they are their dinner in silence.adrika washed the dishes, aksath , lavanya and ruhaan cleaned counter and dining table.
"Dadda we will sleep together"lavanya spoke excitedly, wrapping an arm around his shoulder.he also grinned in response "yes uncle please".
Aksath looked up at them "why together? don't tell me you are planning something mischievous"
Lavanya shook her head immediately "no dadda...only sleeping".
"I will help them in sleep"adrika spoke softly with a smile.ruhaan and lavanya smile faltered in just a second.
"You?but why ..I mean we can sleep"lavanya spoke with a pout.ruhaan nodded his head in response "yes masi we can sleep".
"No way, let's go now"adrika spoke , already taking them inside their rooms.they both groaned at each other in annoyance while walking behind her like a lost puppy.aksath chuckled from behind..
Adrika gently tucked the blanket around Ruhaan and Lavanya, who were still whispering to each other in low voices, clearly disappointed that their plan to sleep with Aksath had failed.
"Now no more talking," she said softly, brushing a few strands of hair off Lavanya’s forehead. Her tone was firm yet tender.
Lavanya pouted, "You’ll stay here till we sleep?"
Adrika gave a small smile and nodded, sitting at the edge of the bed. Within minutes, both kids drifted off — Ruhaan’s little hand clutching the edge of the blanket, and Lavanya’s face turned towards the wall, her breathing soft and even.
When she stepped out, she found the living room lights dimmed. The quietness of the mansion felt almost comforting after all the emotions earlier that evening. Aksath was standing near the window, phone in hand, scrolling absentmindedly. He looked up as she approached.
"They slept?" he asked, voice low and calm.
Adrika nodded, pulling a loose strand of hair behind her ear. "Yes… finally."
He hummed softly and turned toward the kitchen. "Coffee?"
She blinked. "This late?"
He shrugged lightly, the faintest trace of a smile tugging at his lips. "I need something to keep my mind busy. You want some?"
She hesitated for a moment before replying, "I’ll make it."
But before she could move, he shook his head. "No. You already did enough. Sit."
She paused by the counter as he started preparing the coffee — his movements quiet, careful, almost therapeutic. The faint aroma of roasted beans filled the kitchen. The sound of the spoon stirring against the cup was the only thing that broke the silence.
Adrika leaned against the doorway, watching him. He looked calm now, but she could still sense the heaviness behind his eyes — the storm he hadn’t completely let out.
When he finally handed her a cup, their fingers brushed slightly. Neither of them said anything. She just whispered a soft "thank you," and he gave a faint nod in return.
They sat in the quiet kitchen, side by side, sipping coffee. The ticking clock and the faint hum of the night air through the window were the only witnesses to their wordless peace — a small, fragile moment after a day full of weight.
The steam from the coffee swirled between them, carrying the faint scent of roasted beans. Aksath’s eyes lingered on his cup, but his mind wasn’t on the coffee.
Finally, he exhaled slowly, the faintest tremor in his voice. "I… I’m sorry."
Adrika looked up, her brow knitting slightly. "For what?"she asked softly, though she already knew.
"For… losing my temper earlier. For scaring you, for scaring them," he said, voice low and almost broken. "I didn’t mean to… I just… I don’t know how to control it sometimes."
Her heart ached at the quiet vulnerability in his tone. She reached out lightly, placing a hand near his on the counter. "You were carrying so much inside, Aksath. I understand," she said gently.
He finally met her eyes, and for a moment, the weight in them was almost unbearable. "I hate that I hurt you… I hate that I let my anger explode like that. You didn’t deserve it."
"You didn’t hurt me,"she whispered. "I… I just want you to be okay."
He closed his eyes, letting the words sink in. "Being okay feels… impossible sometimes," he murmured. "But… being here with you, now… it helps."
She shifted slightly closer, careful, not pressing, just letting her presence speak. "Then stay,"she said softly. "Stay with me. Just… like this."
Aksath’s lips curved faintly, and he leaned just a little toward her, his eyes softening. "I will… I’ll stay. And I’ll try… to not let my anger win."
Her chest tightened at his words. "You don’t always have to be strong," she said. "It’s okay to let me in… to let me see when you’re broken."
He inhaled deeply, a quiet laugh escaping him — tired, relieved, and raw. "I’ve never… been able to say that before," he admitted.
"And now you can," she replied, her voice barely above a whisper. "You don’t have to hold everything alone anymore."
For a long moment, they simply existed like that — side by side, close enough to feel each other’s warmth, yet respectful of the fragile space between them. The faint tick of the clock, the aroma of coffee, the quiet night around them — all of it seemed to pause, giving them this small, perfect moment to breathe, to heal.
Aksath finally murmured, almost shyly, "Thank you… for staying. For understanding. For… being here."
Adrika smiled softly, eyes glimmering in the dim light. "Always,"she whispered.
And in that silence, filled with unspoken words and quiet confessions, the heaviness of the day began to lift, replaced by something tender, warm, and infinitely delicate — the first soft thread of trust and closeness between them after the storm.
After their coffee, adrika told him to go to rest but he took her inside his room with him.
Aksath finally lowered himself onto the bed, his body still tense from the day, but his voice was quiet and vulnerable.
"I… I just want to sleep," he whispered.
Adrika’s heart tightened. She nodded, words failing her. Slowly, almost shyly, she shifted closer, careful not to crowd him. "Okay… just… lie down," she murmured.
He leaned lightly toward her, and before she could think too much, he rested his head softly on her shoulder. Her breath hitched for a moment, and she froze, unsure of what to do.
Her hands hovered near him, unsure where to place them. She finally settled on brushing a few strands of his hair gently back from his forehead, careful, almost nervous.
"You… you can sleep," she whispered softly, her voice barely above a breath. "I’m here… you’re not alone."
Aksath exhaled, a faint sound of relief escaping him. "Thank you" he murmured, almost too quietly to hear.
Adrika’s fingers brushed lightly over his arm, still shy, still careful, her heart racing. She didn’t move away, didn’t pull back — she just let him rest there.
Minutes passed in silence, the quiet rhythm of his breathing against her shoulder steadying her own heartbeat. She could feel the tension in him slowly easing, the tight lines of worry softening.
Finally, a soft sigh escaped him, and she realized he had fallen asleep — head resting lightly on her shoulder, trusting, unguarded.
Adrika’s cheeks flushed slightly, but she stayed still, afraid to disturb the fragile peace. She adjusted the blanket over him carefully, her own movements gentle and quiet, as if even the slightest sound might shatter the moment.
In that simple, shy closeness, both found comfort. Him in the safety of her presence, and her in the knowledge that he trusted her enough to let his walls down. A quiet, innocent intimacy that needed no words — only the warmth of being there, together, in the calm of the night.
