Newt's POV

Then he looks at me with pure terror in his eyes and says: "It was about WICKED."

Wait. What?

"Alby, what do you mean?" I ask. "You need to tell me exactly what happened in your dream."

Thomas adds: "If Alby's dreams are like Newt's, then it must be some kind of memory. Maybe we can find out what happened to you."

"Sit down," Alby says, "I'm going to tell you what happened in this dream." We do as we're told and Alby begins: "It's already starting to get blurry again, but I can tell you, what happened was not nice. I was in some sort of laboratorium, lying on a bed. The room was grey, but it had a blue-ish glow. A bunch of doctors were hanging over me. Next to the bed, there was a table, on which  lot of creepy objects lay: needles, little knives, wires and cannulas.

The doctors were saying things like: "We're finished. The wall is built around his past life" and "His name is Albert now". I was looking around the room when I suddenly heard a voice. The source of it was a creepy looking guy. He kind of looked like a rat. And on his cote was that label that you have on your badge from work. It said WCKD. Or else, WICKED.

The last thing I remember is that someone injected something in me and everything went dark. Then I woke up."

I'm speechless. This can't be true, right? There must be a very good explanation for this. It is in no way possible that WICKED kidnapped my best friend and held him hostage for two full years.

"Well, shit," Thomas mutters. "Never expected that to happen." I am glad that I sat down earlier, because I don't feel very well.

My voice comes out quiet and shaky when I say: "It could just be a dream, right?" But Thomas throws his hands in the air and shouts: "Are you kidding me, Newt? This could be our first clue to where this dude has been these past two  years! We might finally figure something out, for Gods sake! Alby, what do you think? Was it just a dream of was it a memory?"

Alby shrugs. "I don't know. It all felt very real. Why would I dream about WICKED anyway?"

"We should go Arronsson with this," Thomas says.

"Tommy, it's late. Don't you think we just leave it with this today? We'll get back on it tomorrow, but I really want to sleep right now. Alby can sleep on the couch if he wants." With a yawn, I say goodnight to Albs and Thomas finally follows me to the bedroom.

I just hope sleep will come to me after what I learned tonight.

...

Thomas' POV

School sucks when you don't know what the professor is talking about. I can't seem to get my mind off of Alby and his dream - or memory, 'cause, who knows. There is something really fishy about this whole situation, and I am desperate to find out what it is.

I feel bad for Newt. What if Alby's dream was right, and thee really is something terribly wrong with WICKED. Then Newt would work for a company that isn't exactly what it says it is. And then he might lose his job or whatsoever.

Nevertheless, I want to know what's going on. Maybe it'll even bring us closer to the Ethan and Edward-case, although I don't think it can have something to do with each other.

"Thomas," I hear someone whispering next to me. "Thomas." I turn around to find Luke leaning towards me.

"What is it?" I whisper back to the blonde guy.

"This is boring, right?" Of course, he wouldn't say something interesting. But I guess he's right. I can't keep my head in the course either. So I nod.

"Hey, I was wondering," he starts again, "There's this party tonight and-"

"No," I say, but a bit too loud I guess, because everyone turns towards me. The professor looks at me sternly and asks: "What is it, Mr. Greene? Is there something you want to share?"

I quickly shake my head. Luke, you dumb shank.

"I'm sorry, I am not going to a party."

"Oh, please, Thomas. Please," he whines. "I swear it'll be better than last time."

"Luke, no. I can't come anyway, I have plans." Which I am not going to tell you about.

"Alright then, maybe another time."

I nod, although I am pretty sure there won't be another time. I swear, I am never going to a party with him again.

When the day is finally over, I walk towards my motorcycle that is parked in the parking lot. To my surprise, someone is leaning against it. When I come closer, I can see that it's James.

Oh, I don't like that guy. He's a friend of Jackson, so I see him sometimes, but I really dislike him. He always has his black hair quiffed up annoyingly high and he wears the same sloppy jeans every day. Up above that he's annoying as fuck.

"Yo, Thomas."

I sigh. "What do you want James?"

He shrugs. "I just want to have a chat, with you. Because we're friends."

We are not friends, I want to say, but decide against it. Instead I just throw him a sarcastic smile.

"So, how was your day, Thomas?" It was alright until you showed up.

"It was alright. How about yours?" I ask politely, but then again with just the right amount of sarcasm.

"Oh, it was fine. Although, I was looking forward to seeing someone. But he didn't come, sadly enough." He sets up a fake sad face. I decide to just play along with him. "Who did you want to see?"

James grins: "Oh, I think you know him very well. He's tall. Blonde. Has great eyes. Very handsome."

Wait. Is he seriously talking about Newt?

"I thought he would pick you up again today."

I can't believe he's really talking about my boyfriend. This dude was pissing me off before, but now he really is making me angry.

"I wonder if he's a good kisser. From what I saw yesterday, I believe he must be."

Without lowering my voice that will definitely be loud when I open my mouth, I growl: "Shut up, James. Don't you dare talk about him."

But the slinthead doesn't shut up. "I wonder what his lips would feel like against mine."

"Okay, now you are going too far." I step closer to him, ready to push him to the floor, when he says: "I'm gonna make sure to have those soft lips pressed all over my body."

And I follow my own plan. I push James to the ground and sit on top of him. Rage floods through my veins and I am ready to punch him.

He says one last thing: "And I'm gonna make sure to have him scream my name, so watch out, Thomas Greene." This is the last straw.

With all the venom I can manage to put in my voice, I tell him: "That's a bit brave to say while I'm on top of you, isn't it?" And then I start to hit him senselessly. In the eye, in the nose, in the jaw.

James manages to throw in a few punches too, but he's too weak, bruises too painful to hit me very hard.

My knuckles are bleeding and I'm screaming at the guy under me. I only notice the crowd around the two of us when I am being pulled off of him. I hear the sirens of a police car coming towards us, but even though I am being held back, I still scream at him

I can't believe he said something like that. How could he talk about my Newt like that? That asshole. I'm going to break his neck.

"Jeez, stop screaming," the person holding me says. I feel my arms being given to someone else and I am being handcuffed.

"No. No. You can't do this! Don't you know what he said to me?!" I shout. The deputy answers: "I'm sorry, boy. But you started a fight on public property, and that's illegal here. So you'll have to come with me."

I am being pushed into a van - once again - and the police motions for the crowd to go.

We arrive at the police station and I feel sherrif Arronsson's eyes in my back when we pass his office. The deputy from earlier locks me in a cell and from the moment he leaves, the sherrif walks in.

"Thomas? What happened?"

I roll my eyes. "Oh, you don't want to know."

"Oh, believe me. I do."

I roll my eyes again. "James, a guy from my school said some rude things about Newt. And I got angry."

"Well, by now you know that you can make one phone call. I guess you'll just wan to call him, so I can just do it."

"Thanks, sherrif."

...

Newt's POV

When the sherrif called me, I immediately went there. I can't believe Thomas got arrested. Again. And he had a fight? What could someone possibly have done that Thomas beat the shit out of him?

When I get there, I find him in the cell, sitting on a bench. He stands up when he sees me.

"You're thrown in this box again?" I ask him, disappointment clear in my voice.

"I'm sorry, Newt. I couldn't help it. He was saying some bad things and I totally lost it." The guard opens the door and Thomas slowly steps towards me.

I sigh. "You have to stop doing this, Tommy. One day, I won't be able to help you anymore."

"I really am sorry, Newt."

"It's alright. Let's go home."
