Sasuke
I caught Rin’s waist just pulling her from the grass ninja’s attack as we landed a few branches away. She had froze up, just like that and now, now I could feel her body shaking in my arms. I released her only to have her fall into me again.
“Rin…” I felt her hand gripping my shirt as her now dark eyes met mine.
“We have to go, w-we have to go now Sasuke, we have to get away. I-I we can’t beat him” I stared at her more in shock than anything else. She was afraid and I knew Rin, Rin didn’t feel fear or rather she never showed it. Not since she was a kid but now she was afraid.
“Smart girl, finally realizing the truth” I pushed Rin behind me and felt her grip tighten on my arm as the ninja approached us. Naruto had already gone down and Sakura was watching battle leaving Rin and I. Rin was afraid though and not just afraid but scared stiff, literally trembling in fear at this ninja.
“To bad the other brother isn’t here to protect her.” He taunted.
“No, no don’t listen to him Sasuke, please let’s just…”
“Rin, I have to protect you.”
“No, no you don’t…”
“I have to!” She fell silent then as I pushed her farther back and her grip released me. It was always Itachi, always Itachi that would risk his life to save Rin, to keep her safe; he wouldn’t even give it a second thought, he would die for her. That night I had ran from him, I ran with Rin but I never even once stood against him. It was Rin that had, Rin that tried to fight him to protect me. She refused to be afraid like I had been and now she was afraid. How could I ever face him, if I couldn’t even face this guy? I looked up at him activating my sharingan and noticed him smirk. I wouldn’t be afraid, I would win this.
Rin
I couldn’t even move. I was shaking too badly. Without Itachi around I had always been afraid, afraid of him. On more than one occasion in the Akatsuki he had tried to kill me, and take my sharingan. Madara never allowed him to train me alone. He may have hated me but he hated the idea of Orochimaru having the sharingan even more.
“Rin!” I looked up as a panicked Sakura pulled on my hands trying to get me to stand.
“Rin Sasuke needs you right now!”
“I can’t help him Sakura…”
“You have to!”
“I can’t! This guy, you don’t even know what he can do! We need to get out of…” I was shocked at first when Sakura’s hand struck my cheek the pain seeming to break through numbing feeling of fear.
“You need to snap out of it! You took Zabuza head on without a second thought and I know you can fight this guy to, you’re Rin Uchiha and your brother needs you!” I turned back staring at her for a moment. I didn’t know if I could do this. Actually I was almost one hundred percent sure I couldn’t but that hasn’t stopped me before.
“Just stand back.” I instructed her and noticed a smirk on her face as I reached for my Katana and got to my feet. I released a slow breath activating my sharingan once more. This was it. I back flipped off the branch as he walked towards Sasuke.
“Heads up!” I turned midair as he looked up and brought my leg down slamming it into face. I pushed off turning with my Katana and the sound of metal clashing rang through the area.
“So you’ve grown a backbone Princess?” I smirked slightly.
“And a wicked right hook” I turned slamming my fist into his stomach and he flew back slamming into the tree. I pulled the senbon from my hair and threw them hitting two point that I knew would paralyze him. I was in front of a moment later and slammed my Katana through his chest.
“It’s over.” I hissed.
“Not quite.” I was slammed into the trunk, my eyes widening just as the clone disappeared. It was a substitution.
“You’ve nearly become as fast as him” I met his gaze as he held my throat tightly allowing only a small amount of air in.
“And your sharingan has become fully developed to, very impressive Rin. I see the Akatsuki has been making a fine ninja out of you.” I glared at him.
“Leave my brother alone.” I threatened. He chuckled then and leaned by my ear.
“What are you going to do to stop me?” I felt my hair move from my neck and his hand press against my curse mark.
“What are…” I felt it then a sudden harsh pain. My body convulsed and I felt his palm press harder against the mark.
“I’ll deal with you later Princess…” I fell to my knees as he released me and my hands flew to my neck. A scream escaped my lips as another wave of pain shot through my body. I glared up at him as he took the scroll from my back pocket smirking as he did.
“Pity…” He mocked. I noticed him freeze then, his body seeming to stiffen. I bit back another scream as I felt my body shake. Sasuke could handle rest I assured myself as I finally gave into the consuming darkness.
Sakura
I watched as Sasuke ran forward taking advantage of the moment Rin had given him. It was the senbon Rin had thrown, the ninja didn’t make the substitution on time to avoid them. He kicked her away from Rin before jumping after him throwing multiple shurikan at him. He landed on a branch and pulled back on the wires attached causing the ninja to slam into a tree trunk. The wires wrapped around him. Sasuke made quick hand signs and a flame appeared around him; the dragon flame jutsu. The flame shot down the wired and slammed into him, his scream ringing through the area.
“He did it!” I jumped down towards him as the flame disappeared.
“You did it Sasuke…” I knew he was exhausted but he won, we were going to be okay now.
“Don’t worry, it’s all over” I assured him as I reached out. I felt my body stiffen slight and I fell to my knees as Sasuke struggled.
“I-Impossible!” I glanced up as the ninja approached us, part of his face seeming to be melted off.
“Such mastery of the Sharingan at so you young an age, seems the Princess isn’t the only impressive Uchiha.” Her voice seemed to change mid-sentence into a deeper one.
“Yes you will do nicely, you are definitely his brother.” I noticed his headband change to a sound one as a smirk crossed his features.
“If anything your eyes are even keener than Itachi’s.”
“Who are, what do you want!?” He tossed a scroll in hand as he faced us.
“My name is Orochimaru but as to what I want that will have to wait till we meet again.”
“That’s why Rin was afraid…” He chuckled darkly and nodded as he glanced to Rin’s unconscious form.
“Yes the Poor Princess, I’ll be taking her with me now that her pesky brother isn’t here to save her but first….” He made a single hand sign and his neck extended as he shot forward to Sasuke.
“Sasuke no!” He bit into his neck before moving back and Sasuke reached for where he had bit.
“You, what have you done to Sasuke!?” I demanded.
“I just gave him a little parting gift, now then for the Princess.” He jumped down the branch Rin was on and lifted her over his shoulder.
“Leave her alone!” He chuckled again as Sasuke fell to his knees.
“Very soon Sasuke will seek me out and desire my power, but it’s good to have some reassurance that he’ll come. At least for Rin…” He disappeared then and I sat there staring at where he had been. Rin was gone. Sasuke’s scream interrupted my thoughts. I ran to his side and knelt down taking his hand, his hand gripped my own tightly.
“Sasuke its okay, it’s going to okay!” I tried to assure him. I noticed the three marks on his neck as he released another scream and fell limp against me. I held him tightly trying to hold back the tears.
“Naruto, Sasuke’s hurt I need you!” I shouted at him but to no avail. He was still out cold.
“I don’t what I’m supposed to do” I whispered. Rin was gone and for all I know she could be dead soon. Sasuke and Naruto were out cold and now it was just me and that thought scared me more than anything.
