(Y/N)=Your name
(E/C)=Eye colour
You had already been at Steven's house for the past two summers. It became a tradition for your parents to just send you over there for a week or two, thinking you were spending time with just Steven and Greg, while in reality, you were nearly dying each three days because of magical space creatures.
It didn't bother you as long as you weren't dead, though. It was kind of fun, going on adventures with the gems. Occasionally getting to see fusions, or actually participating in saving the day.
Now, this year, you had been informed by Steven, a few days before you left for Beach City, that there was a new Crystal Gem. He told you a bit about her. From what Steven told you, Peridot was a new gem from Homeworld that had been left on Earth. Although she seems a bit intimidating, she was completely harmless, and would probably get along with you easily.
You were excited to get to know her. She seemed so cool! And you were dying to know more about Homeworld. Days passed, and finally, you arrived at Beach City.
"How are your parents, (Y/N)? Do you even live with them anymore?" Pearl asked, getting your bed –the sofa– ready. Helping her set it up, you answered. "They're going great! They've been improving with jogging, too! And I still have to stay for at least a year, then I can move. According to them."
Pearl got back up, wiping her already clean hands on her sides before looking at you. "Thank you for helping me with the sofa." There was a pause. "How old are you now? I forgot..." She said, slightly blushing. You giggled, "It's okay, even my own brother forgets. I'm 17."
She nodded, and invited you to the kitchen to chat a bit more. Sitting down on one of the stools, the two of you started a nice little conversation. Everything was okay, and they turned great when Steven entered the house. "(Y/N)!!!" He yelled. The excited half gem ran towards you, greeting you with a bear hug. "I've been waiting for you! I thought you would be in town or something! I brought Peridot with me!"
You heard Pearl chuckle nervously behind you. "Oh, Steven, I'm sure (Y/N) wouldn't find Peridot as interesting as you think... Right (Y/N)? We were having such a nice conversation... I would hate to have to cut it there." She said.
I looked back to her, apologizing. "Sorry, Pearl, but I actually really want to meet Peri..." You said, giving her a small smile, she nodded, and walked into the temple. She seemed more disappointed than you would have thought. But you shrugged the guiltiness off and went with Steven outside, where he said Peridot was waiting.
"I'm sure you'll love her, (Y/N)!" Before he said anything else, he pointed down onto the beach. "She's over there! Look!" Following where his finger was pointing, I noticed a small, green person, simply sitting in the sand.
Running down the stairs with Steven behind me, I loudly greeted her. "Hello!" Peridot sprung up, and turned towards us. I stopped in front of her, and slightly waved. "I'm
(Y/N)! Steven's cousin. You must be Peridot! I'm so glad to finally meet you!" You said, holding back the huge urge to hug her. She looked so cute! She was way smaller than you first imagined her to be, and a lot more... Attractive, actually.
You noticed a green blush appearing on her face. She didn't answer, which kind of surprised you, for some unknown reason. You two stared at each other for a while, waiting for someone to talk.
Steven was the lucky one to end the awkward starring contest. "Okay! Enough starring! We should get inside and play some games so you two could learn to know each other! How about it? We could play truth or dare, tell each other stories, play board games, play hide and seek..." You happily agreed. There was a short pause, and both you and Steven were waiting an answer from Peridot, who seemed to be in a trance of some sorts.
"You look nice." Was all she said. Me and Steven shrugged, taking it as a yes.
Hours went by as you three played different games. You noticed that Peridot took time to actually open up to you. It took a whole hour just for her to actually, directly address you, and another hour for her to become her 'normal' self.
"Peridot! I found you hiding behind the corner!" You said. Playing hide and seek with her was harder than you first thought. Peridot was a sore loser, and it was hard to get her to admit it.
"No, you haven't! Search again!"
"If you're not coming out, I'm dragging you out!"
"Then do it!"
Sighing, you walked over to where she was hiding, and picked her up with ease. "You're slowing the game up." You said, looking down at her.
She crossed her arms, and pouted. "I bet you were looking.
"I was facing the wall."
A blush appeared on her face. "W-well... Maybe you were... Uh..."
"Maybe, you just didn't pick a good hiding spot."
Her blush seemed to have worsened by what you said. "Whatever. Whether I cheated or not, that's the past. Now let's hurry! Steven's waiting for us so we can start a new game!
The sun began to set, and Steven had the wonderful idea to play truth or dare with all the gems. For once, they all agreed, and we sat in a circle on the ground. Steven decided to play differently. Everyone was going to be asked/dared by only him, and he would decided wether the person can skip the question/dare, or not, if it ever came down to it.
Everything stayed PG, of course, and you had lots of fun, until Steven turned to Pearl and asked her to choose between truth or dare. "Why, truth! I'd never go for a dare."
"Good idea," you said. For the last hour, you had picked dare over and over, having to eat the thing you despised the most, putting your hand in the toilet, having to do some gymnastics way too advanced for you and much more.
Steven laughed, and asked the question. "Let's say you had to be stuck living with someone in this room for your whole life, who would you choose?"
"(Y/N)." She said, without even thinking. It's as if she had already planned the question out. You and Steven looked at each other, and started giggling. Those giggles soon turned into full out laughter. You had no idea if it was the embarrassment, or if it was just because you were tired.
Realizing what she just did, Pearl's face became teal in embarrassment and she stammered an excuse. "I-I have a reason, of course!" Me and Steven forced ourselves to go silent, to let her talk. "O-out of everyone here... (Y/N)'s the..." She took a deep breath. "(Y/N)'s by far the most... supportable... No, I mean... Uh..." The blushing gem looked around the room, avoiding eye contact as if it would help her. "She and I get along well. I s-suppose it wouldn't hurt to spend more time with her..." She concluded. I nodded in agreement. "Yes, of course I'm the most supportable person in this room." You said jokingly.
The truth or dare game continued. Garnet had to tell us a joke, you all learned that Amethyst the would rather eat a cat more than a dog, and Peridot admitted that she if she had to date a human or another gem, she'd date a human.
It was fun while it lasted, but you and Steven needed rest. You bid your good nights to the gems, got into your pjs, brushed your teeth and got into bed. The night went pretty smoothly, and the couch was, as you remembered it, really comfortable.
But, your sleeping was cut short by someone lightly shaking you awake. Sitting up, you expected Steven to say that there was something outside, or maybe another thing from Homeworld here to destroy Earth.
Rubbing your eyes, you sat up, whispering, "What is it, Steven?" There was a small giggle, and you heard a gentle voice say, "I'm not Steven." Opening your eyes, you looked up at the mystery person, who appeared to be Pearl.
"Come with me, I want to show you something." She said, before walking to the front door. You took off the blankets, feeling the rush of cold air hit you bare legs. Shivering, you lifted yourself up and followed her outside. Once you closed the door behind you, she turned back to you.
"O-oh..." She said. Just by her tone, you knew she was blushing.
"What?" You asked.
"I-I didn't know you had such... Short shorts in your possession..." She stuttered.
"I was scared that the blankets would be too hot," you answered. "What did you want to show me?"
Pointing to the sky, she simply said, "Look."
You tilted your head upwards, meeting a beautiful view. The night sky seemed to be... Completely different than usual. Like something that came straight out of an abstract painting. The stars shone so brightly that the remaining space was almost purple instead of black. There appeared to be shooting stats everyone and then. You could see bits of the Milky Way, and other galaxies. Their dust spreading in the sky, like if someone dropped different bottles of sparkles in space. Looking a bit to the side, you searched for the place where Homeworld was supposed to be.
Awaiting you there, was one, particular star. It looked brighter than all the others, and seemed isolated. A cloud of space dust seemed to surround it. Taking in the wonderful view, you looked back at Pearl. "This is amazing, Pea-" when your eyes landed on her, you instantly noticed that her gaze was glued to your (E/C) eyes. As if the wonderful night view was in your eyes, and not in the sky.
"Aren't you going to look at the sky?" You said, fighting back a blush.
"I've seen it before," she stated.
"But this view's almost mesmerizing." You added.
"I found something even prettier to rest my eyes upon,"
