Please read Chapter 19 before you read this chapter. I have made some changes there and you can only understand this chapter if you've read the new chapter 19.It's only the last dialogue.

Somebody had likened Nairobi weather to a hormonally imbalanced teenager.

As Eva walked through the college's grounds she felt it was more apt to liken it to a hormonal pregnant woman with crazy mood swings.

One moment it was raining and the next it was unbearingly hot.

Had the universe conspired against her? She wondered. Because while she was about ready to burst because of this vengeful weather, everyone else looked totally undisturbed and composed. On the other hand, she felt like she was walking through a hot furnace.

Sweat meandered through her scalp, threatening to drip onto her brow.Discomfort didn't even begin to cover what she was feeling. She felt like a walking sponge that was slowly expelling all its liquid. The stuffy clothes she was wearing due to the college's strict dress code didn't help at all.

Her agony wasn't limited to her physical state. For the past week, her emotions were running haywire.

She couldn't stop berating herself.

Firstly, for letting her guard down.He had kissed her! The idiot! She had only been teasing. She hadn't meant for him to come at her like that.

The other part of her though, was berating herself because of the way she had handled it all.He had kissed her and she had ran off.

She took off as if she was being chased by a hellhound. The minute she had gotten home, she had blacklisted his number and resisted the urge to unblock him for the rest of the week.

So she was simultaneously mad at him and herself.

Was she being immature and idiotic? Most likely, she was and wouldn't be surprised if Louis thought so too.

But she didn't care. She didn't want to talk to him. The way her heart beat whenever she thought of that kiss was scary. Not scary in a romantic breathless sort of way. But in the sort of way that made her think she'd need an oxygen mask.

It was for that reason she was closing her mind off him. Erecting barriers in her head to ward off even the slightest thought.

Her accounting textbooks felt heavier than usual as she reached the parking lot. Instead of going straight to uni after high school, she had asked for a year to figure out what she wanted to do with her life.

Her mom had insisted that she at least take some accounting classes in the meantime.

Relief was the only word in her mind as she approached where she had parked her car. She just wanted to drop her bag and rela...

Thud!

Her heavy bag fell on the ground.

"I would recognize this car anywhere. You practically scooped me up with it."

She was angry. So damn angry. She couldn't do this right now. Her nostrils flared and with a huff, she picked up her bag and began walking away.It seems she would have to take a matatu home.

Being melodramatic wasn't her thing. But every girl has her moments.

"Eva wait."He followed her, "Eva please just...."

He reached for her arm to stop her.

"What! What do you want Louis?" She had reached her last aorta of patience.

"Calm down. I'm not asking for a kidney or something.Just a few minutes to talk."

"Why the hell are you here? Can't you take a hint. I don't want to talk to you."

"Wait. Why are you so pissed?"

"Because you kissed me you freaking idiot! I was just making a joke and the next thing I know you're all up in my space. No signal. No warning. Absolutely no freaking clue."

Louis was taken aback.

"That's why you're so angry with me. Because I kissed you. That's why you've been avoiding me the whole past week?"

Eva wanted to give him a long and resounding 'duuuh'.But instead she asked, "Isn't it obvious? Why else would I be mad at you?"

"I don't know Eva. The way you're acting right now, it's like I practically manhandled you.But you know something,I won't apologize for kissing you."

"Then this conversation might as well end now."She turned away from him and began stomping away.

"Eva I like you. I think at this point that's really obvious," she stopped in her tracks, "So I won't apologize for kissing you. Maybe for catching you offguard. Other than that, there's nothing to apologize for. You're overreacting."The last part had her completely turning to face him.

"What's wrong with you? You barely even know me. So how can you even tell me -"

"You were the one who told me to go for what I want and not to overthink it. "Don't think, just do,"is what you said.To put myself out there. So I did exactly that and that's what I'm doing right now,"he threw his hands up, wildly gesturing between her and him.

"I didn't mean for you to do this? You and I were just friends-"

"I like you Eva and I don't want to settle for just friends. I cannot just be friends with you."

"What the heck is wrong with you?"she spat out.

"No, what the hell is wrong with you? It was one thing to run away from me but to block my number...  really?"Louis was losing his patience too, "It was just a kiss!"

"I'm leaving Louis and don't follow me and don't talk to me."

Louis watched as she turned to leave. She had no idea of how agitated he had been the past week. And the way she ignored him was just....The least she could have done was talk to him.

But he wasn't just going to let her walk away. Because she hadn't said it. She hadn't said the one thing that would drive him away. She hadn't said that she didn't feel the same way about him.

He was the volcano that finally erupted. She didn't get to take two steps.

"What the fu..?"

Louis had already pressed his lips to hers. He didn't care if she didn't respond. She wanted him and he would prove it. Whatever was holding her back...whatever fear,he would literally kiss it away.

Her hands were splayed across his chest, trying to push him away. They turned into fists as she unsuccessfully tried to make him stop.

Louis only held her firmer. This was payback for the chaos she had wrecked over him for the past week.

Even when she was punching his chest, he remained unbothered. He didn't care. With each motion of his lips, he would crumble her resistance. She felt the same way and he knew it!

But after only ten seconds, his resolve was weakening. His anger was slowly dissipating and in its place was shame.Shame for how he was just forcing himself on her.

An apology began to form at the tip of his tongue and he let her go.

Whack!

She slapped him.

"Don't ever do that again!"

Then before he knew it, she had fisted his shirt and pulled him to her. Her lips collided with his in a split second.

Shock was too weak a word to describe how he felt. He was stunned and confused. The girl who had just slapped him for kissing her was now practically assaulting him with nothing but her lips.He didn't know what to feel.

As Eva pulled him even closer, the part of her thoughts she had been trying to suppress - the real reason that she had been so angry the whole week, finally came to the forefront. She had been so angry because even though she didn't respond to his kiss that day, a small part of her had still enjoyed the kiss.In fact, she had wanted to kiss him just as much and it had taken all her strength to stop him and leave him there.

The real reason she had been angry with him was because with that kiss, he made her feel things that she hadn't wanted to feel for a long time. Because somehow he had bypassed the barriers in her head.

He could wear his true feelings on his sleeve but her expressing what she truly felt made her feel so weak and fragile. And she didn't want to be vulnerable. Not again.

But right then, in that moment, she let go of all her reservations. To hell with giving him the upperhand by letting her feelings be known. She took her own advice,"Don't think, just do."

She surrendered to the kiss.

They kissed like two drunk teenagers making out in the corner at some house party - albeit without the sloppiness.

It was mind-numbing. It was hasty and it was needy. It was nothing like the last kiss.

When they finally ran out of breath,he leaned his forehead on hers.

"You slap hard," he said, smiling against her chin and she found herself laughing through her breathlessness.

Hello, sorry for the inconvenience I'm causing readers of the old chapter 19. I had an idea I had been thinking about for a long time. But when I was writing Old Chapter 19, I completely forgot the idea.

Guess it's true what they say then. Thinking too much is the biggest enemy of creativity. It's been scientifically proven so don't argue with me. Haha.

Anyway, dear readers this is the one time, I'm calling out to you. I need reassurance that I'm not in over my head.So please comment especially on the last two chapters. I need to know what you think.

Safe space here. So you can say anything. Even if it's harsh senseless criticsm! Haha

I dedicate this chapter to Espekatoh. For commenting and asking when the updates are coming.

Stay fly everyone.

Xoxo
