Blake's Point of View
I threw the can into the trash. It was the first day of winter break and I was already drunk as fuck. Some of the boys and I decided to celebrate and somehow ended up in my backyard with a keg. I wouldn't be surprised if people began to show up.
"Dude." Daniel, one of the guys slurred. We all turned to look at him, well one of him. There was at least three of him in my view. "This is epic."
"Yeah dude." Xavier slurred. Everyone nodded. I smirked. When weren't my parties epic.
"Blake?" A girly voice called out from behind us. We all turned and saw my sister standing there. Her arms were crossed across her chest and she looked angry.
"Hey sis." I slurred. I took another gulp from my beer and nodded. I'd need to refill my cup soon.
"What are you doing?" She asked in disgust. She walked up to us and picked up all the plastic cups from the ground. When did all those get there? "Mom is coming tomorrow."
That statement only encouraged me to drink more. I did not want to see my so called mother's face. She could never come back and see if i'd care. She's a lousy ass mom. I'm better off without her.
"So?" I said to her. I downed the rest of my cup and stood up to get another one. I walked over to the keg and quickly filled up my cup, spilling some in the process.
"This house is trashed." Sophie said. I rolled my eyes. So dramatic. It's not like the queen was coming.
"Do I look like I give a fuck?" I asked her. I turned towards the boys who had amused looks. I smirked.
"You know what Blake. Do whatever the hell you want, but don't come running to me when Kate is fucking some other guy." Sophie said before stomping away. I watched my twin go into the house and slamming the back door.
"Damn Blake. Who's Kate?" James asked. I narrowed my eyes. I instantly sobered up at the mention of Kate. I was here getting drunk and being careless when I had so many things to worry about. Yes I had my evil and careless mom coming into town tomorrow, but I also had my date with Kate. I could already tell the day was going to be a roller coaster and sadly, it was one I wasn't looking forward to.
-
Kate stood in front of me with a gorgeous smile. She giggled as I pulled her close to me. I had my arms wrapped around her waist as her arms were wrapped around my neck.
"You're so beautiful." I whispered. Her cheeks tinted pink for what seemed like the millionth time that night.
"Blake." She groaned, trying to fight off her grin.
"I mean in it babe." I said to her in a serious tone. That only seemed to brighten the redness.
"Oh shut up and kiss me." She said. I pulled her tighter and closed my eyes. I could feel her breath on mine and our-
"Blake! Wake up! Mom is almost here!" I heard someone say in between pounding. I groaned. I wiped my tired eyes and focused on reality.
Fuck. That was all just a dream. I really thought I was finally about to kiss Kate. She was so real. Tonight is going to end with a kiss. I am not leaving her until I do.
"Blake! Come on!" I heard the yelling again. I let out a small yelp and pulled the covers off my body. I stomped my way over to the door and yanked it open. Sophie looked angry as she took me in.
"What the fuck do you want? You ruined my good dream." I said, crossing my arms over my chest. Sophie only rolled her eyes at my statement.
"I could careless about whatever wet dream you were having with Kate, but fix yourself. Mom is going to be here soon." She said. She quickly turned, smacking me in the face with her ponytail. I narrowed my eyes at her as she descended the stairs. I turned around and slammed the door. I know it has only been like 5 hours since Sophie reminded me of this awful event going on today, but I did not want to remember it.
My mom doesn't deserve to be welcomed with warm arms. She left my father and I for some douche bag millionaire. Apparently being rich is way more important than your family. She fucked it up and now she wants to be back. She expects us to have forgiven her for cheating on my dad with her new husband. I know I haven't.
The only reason Sophie has was because she wanted to live in California. She decided to forget about my mom's fucked up mistake and have a chance to start over in a different state. I chose to stay with my dad and hate her forever. Even my dad forgave her. He blames himself for working too much, but I think it was just greed that took over my mom's self control.
I heard my phone vibrate from my dresser, distracting myself from any more thoughts of the evil villain in my life. I walked over to it and grabbed the device. It was a text from Asher.
hey bro, it's cool if i come over to meet your mom right?
I rolled my eyes upon reading Asher's words. I couldn't careless if he met her. He's not just my best friend but also Sophie's boyfriend. If that shit is important for her, than do whatever you please.
idgaf. i hate my mom remember?
I sent the text back and placed my phone on the dresser. I walked over to my bathroom and started up the shower. I was pretty sure I still smelled like smoke and beer. My mom would definitely mention it and the rest of the crap I do.
After I was finally done with my shower, I changed into a pair of dark jeans and a plain white tee. I put on my black converse and let my hair do whatever it pleased. I wasn't trying to impress anyone. I walked out of my room, with my phone in my back pocket, and went down the stairs. Once I reached the ground floor, I was instantly hit with an amazing smell. I rounded the corner and came face to face with an unusual crowd of people in the living room.
"Good morning, son." My father said seeing my presence. I gave him a tight lip smile and focused on the two people I hadn't seen.
"Oh Blake, how are you my boy?" My mother said. Her blond locks had been dyed a black color when she left. Now they were a shiny almost gold color. I bet she did that to try to win me back, having her normal hair color. I then looked at her face. It was caked with makeup and her outfit screamed trophy wife. She changed and not for the best.
"Lily." I stated in a monotone voice. The fake smile my mother had plastered on her face was beginning to falter. I internally smirked at the small victory.
"Sit Blake." My father ordered. I nodded, taking a seat next to my sister. Sophie gave me a small sideways glance and looked back down at her food.
"Oh right. Blake, this is my husband Marc." My mother said in a sweet voice. I looked at the man and studied his face. He had a chiseled jawline with dark brown eyes. His chestnut hair contrasted against his tanned skin and his suit seemed perfectly tailored. He was definitely a rich man from California.
"Nice to meet you." I said politely. The man gave me a nod before looking back down at his breakfast. I wasn't sure if I liked him or not. He was the man that helped cheat on my father.
"You'll meet his son Adam tonight." My mother said. I gave her a blank look and looked down at my plate. I could feel the tension in the air so thick, I could use my steak knife to cut it. This was going to be a long two weeks.
-
I turned off my xbox and shut the tv off. I went straight towards my closet to change. I wanted to look nice for Kate. I changed into light wash grey jeans and kept the white t-shirt on. I pulled on a navy blue hoodie and left it unzipped. My black converse were still on my feet and I pulled on my black leather jacket on on top. Lastly, I put on a black beanie. It would be snowing so I had to layer up.
"Blake!" I hear someone shout. I groaned. This was either Sophie telling me that Kate was hear, since she still won't let me pick her up, or to tell me Alex or Andrew, or whatever the fuck his name was, was here.
"Yes Sophie?" I asked while yanking the door open. She stood there in her regular jeans and a t-shirt.
"So Kate is here." She said. I felt my frown morph into a smile, but it quickly went away as she continued to talk. "And so is Adam."
"Who?" I asked. Was that the dimwitted son's name?
"Our stepdad's son." She said with a raise of an eyebrow. I rolled my eyes and followed her downstairs. We both stepped into the living room where everyone was meeting everyone.
"Ah, Blake. Finally." My mother said when she noticed me. I gave her a tight lipped smile and faced Kate. She was standing awkwardly by the door. "You didn't tell me you have a beautiful girlfriend."
"And we're leaving." I said walking over to Kate. She relaxed when I grabbed her hand. She gave me a warm smile causing me to match it.
"Adam! Blake." Mom said. I let out a heavy breath.
"I'm sorry babe. I'll explain everything in the car." I whispered to Kate. She nodded, letting go of my hand.
"Blake, this is Adam." My mother said. I took in his appearance. He was almost a replica of my mother's husband. He was a younger version with the same brown hair and a light stubble growing on his face.
"Nice to meet you." Adam said with a large grin. I only gave him a blank look before walking back over to Kate. I didn't want to meet him.
"Come on babe." I said grabbing her hand. I pulled her towards the door and let her out. I marched us over to my car and opened the door for her. I then went over to the driver's side and hopped in. I started the engine and peeled out of the driveway.
I wanted to get out of there quickly. I didn't want to socialize with my mom's stepson. It only reminded me that she chose him over me, her own kin. I'll never be able to forgive my mom. She abandoned me when I was only 10. She chose to let me live my own life, yet here she was trying to get me back into her life. It's ridiculous.
"Blake?" I heard Kate say from beside me. I snapped out of my thoughts of my so called mother and focused on her.
"Sorry about that Kate. My mom has come back. You just met her and her stupid stepson Adam." I said with disgust. I looked over at her and she was showing my a sympathetic smile.
"It's okay Blake. You don't have to explain anything to me. I'm just wondering where we are going." She said with excitement in her voice. I chuckled. This was a reason I liked Kate. She wasn't pushy and didn't try to invade your whole life. She knew her limit and accepted it.
"I'm not telling you babe. Just know that we'll have fun." I smirked. She groaned from beside me. I looked over at her and saw her pout. I chuckled silently. I reached for her hand and intertwined our fingers together. I felt myself smile at the small action.
"Hey Blake," Kate said softly, "thank you for this. Even if our date hasn't fully started, i'm already having a great time with you."
"Me too Kate. Oh, and you look beautiful." I said making her blush. I squeezed her hand and focused on the road ahead of us.
-
I parked the car and turned towards Kate. She had a huge grin on her face as she took in our surroundings. I brought her to an ice cream bar.
"An ice cream bar?" She asked. I nodded. She quickly unbuckled her seat belt and got out of the car. I did the same, meeting her in front of the car. I took her hand and led her inside.
"Welcome to New Haven Ice cream." One of the workers said. We smiled at her and walked over to the bar. There were hundreds of flavors, toppings, and sauces. The whole shop was full of people even in the middle of winter.
"This looks so good." Kate said once we had ordered. She got a scoop of vanilla, cookies and cream, and birthday cake with a bunch of colorful sprinkles on top. I got a cone with scoops of chocolate and mint chip dipped in hot fudge.
"It is." I said after licking my cone. We quickly felt into peaceful silence. I looked out the window, seeing kids run in the snow. It was only around 7, yet the sun was long gone.
"Blake, what happened back there?" Kate asked. I sighed and looked at her. She had a worry lines, yet she showed curiosity.
"So my mom is back. She left me and my dad when I was around 11 years old. She left us for Marc, who she was cheating on my dad with. After my parents got a divorce she quickly remarried. She moved to California with Sophie and made their own family with Marc and Adam. Now, she's back trying to be a mom and act like she never hurt us." I told her.
"I'm so sorry Blake." Kate said with a sympathetic smile.
"It's okay babe. I'm used to being left out. It's in my nature now. Now, finish up so we can go to the next part of our date." I told her. Her eyes lit up as she spooned the last bit of ice cream into her mouth.
"Let's go." Kate said standing up. She tossed her cup into the trash and pulled me out into the freezing cold. Our next stop was the go-karting rink.

Krissy's Point of View
I couldn't stop thinking of tonight. It was a rollercoaster of emotions. From my amazing date with Blake to meeting his stepbrother. It was crazy. Even if he hasn't told me his whole life story, I feel like I know the Blake Tyler a little more.
"So, how was it?" Morgan said running into my room. She had just texted me to ask how it went and somehow, she was in my house now.
"It was amazing." I said leaning back on my bed. Morgan squealed before pulling me up.
"So, what did you wear?" She asked. Earlier, she had wanted me to wear some dress with heels and to curl my hair. I said no. It was snowing and freezing cold outside. I was going to wear jeans and a sweater.
I picked out a pair of dark wash jeans and a black, almost a very dark brown sweater. I matched it with brown over the ankle boots. I let my hair do its own thing. For makeup, I only wore a very natural face with a little bit of mascara and pink lipgloss.
I decided to not over do it because tonight was the night I was supposed to tell Blake that I was really Krissy. But I couldn't tell him, especially after our amazing date.
"I wore this." I said gesturing to the current outfit I had on. Morgan frowned.
"Really? What happened K?" She asked.
"I was supposed to tell Blake about me being Krissy. It didn't work out. For starters, Blake had too much on his mind already. I met his stepbrother." I told her. Her eyes widened.
"The Tyler's have a stepbrother?" She asked. I nodded. They very much do and he was horrible. The moment I stepped foot into the Tyler mansion, I felt like something was off. There were two extra cars in the driveway, some i'd never seen before. Sophie had open me the door with a huge smile.
"Hey Kate," she said with a wink, "how are you."
"I'm great, thanks." I said to her. She shut the door behind me and led me to the living room. I was met with three new pairs of eyes. I gulped. Did I come at the wrong time?
"Kate, I want you to meet my mom." Sophie said introducing me to her. She was almost an exact replica of Blake, only in girl form. She had the same shade blond hair and bright blue eyes. She looked beautiful, yet her eyes told me she was tired. I wondered why.
"Hi, i'm Kate. Nice to meet you Mrs. Tyler." I said shaking Blake's mom's hand. The lady smiled at me.
"Nice to meet you. Call me Lily. I'm not a Tyler anymore." She chuckled. I widened my eyes at the realization. Was this why Blake hated his mom?
"I'm sorry about that." I said feeling awkward. Where was Blake in all this?
"It's alright. I want you to meet my husband, Marc." She said smiling at a very much tanner guy. His chiseled jawline, trimmed beard, and large muscles showed how expensive and well kept he was. I bet he was a millionaire.
"Hi." I said smiling at him. He smiled back. He looked intimidating.
"I'm Adam." I heard someone say from behind me. I quickly whipped my head around and saw a replica of Marc. He had brown hair that was a little longer than it being short hair with beautiful brown eyes. He was sporting a six o'clock shadow that just made me want to melt. His body wasn't a bad thing to look at either, with his large biceps.
"Hi," I stuttered. I suddenly felt subconscious about myself. He was very attractive and his pearly white teeth were on display as he grinned at me.
"You're beautiful." He said giving me a million dollar smile. I felt my cheeks heat up.
"I'm going to go get Blake." Sophie said jogging up the staircase.
"I'm Blake and Sophie's stepbrother." Adam said. I nodded. Where was Blake? He needed to hurry and get down here before I said something stupid in front of this attractive guy.
"Are you Sophie's friend?" Adam asked. I nodded. "So then your single?"
"Um I," I was lost for words. I wasn't sure what to say. I heard a shuffle upstairs and looked up. Blake was walking down the stairs. He had a slight frown on his face.
"Ah, Blake. Finally." Lily said. Blake gave her a tight lipped smiled before giving me a small grin. I shuffled towards the door, not wanting to be near Adam. He made me feel uncomfortable and i'm pretty sure it was because of his looks. "You didn't tell me you have a beautiful girlfriend."
"And we're leaving." Blake said coming straight at me. He grabbed my hand, making me relax. He looked down at me causing me to smile.
"Adam! Blake." Lily said. Blake let out a heavy breath from beside me. He was annoyed.
"I'm sorry babe. I'll explain everything in the car." Her whispered in my ear. I nodded, letting go of his hand. I guess Blake was still yet to meet Adam.
"Blake, this is Adam." Lily said gesturing towards him. Blake looked him up and down, a frown growing on his face. Why did he hate them all so bad?
"Nice to meet you." Adam said with a large grin. Blake stared at him before turning away. He walked over to me and took my hand again.
"Come on babe." He said pulling me towards the front door. He yanked the door open and pulled me outside. He then opened my door to his car and let me into the warmth.
Even if the small walk from the front door to the car was two seconds, it was still freezing cold. Connecticut needed to learn to not go below zero, letting us all freeze. Don't get me wrong, I love the snow. But, was it possible for it to snow with it being negative 5.
I looked over at Blake as we drove away from his house. His knuckles were turning white from clutching the steering wheel. I felt bad for him. He wasn't just this bad boy who was careless about everything, he actually cared and that somehow hurt him. His mom made Blake become this guy he was today.
"Blake?" I said softly. He head snapped towards mine. He sighed as he came to the realization that I was still in the car with him. I bet he forgot we had a date tonight.
"Sorry about that Kate. My mom has come back. You just met her and her stupid stepson Adam." He said in disgust. This only showed the Blake did hate his mom. I bet it was because of Marc.
"It's okay Blake. You don't have to explain anything to me. I'm just wondering where we are going." I said changinge the subject. I had been looking forward to our date since he kept pestering me with his call. Although I know deep down he'll never accept me for being Krissy, I want to remember having my first date with Blake.
"I'm not telling you babe. Just know that we'll have fun." He smirked. I groaned. I knew he was going to say that. He never wants to tell me where we're going.
I felt his hand on top of mine. I smiled as he intertwined our fingers together, causing sparks to fly. The small bolt of electricity that flew from him caused my heart to pick up speed and beat faster. Even the small gesture made me want to squeal.
"Hey Blake, thank you for this. Even if our date hasn't fully started, i'm already having a great time with you." I told him honestly. Even if I couldn't be 100% honest with him about myself, he deserved the truth about everything else. I know that my feelings for him were growing and there was nothing that could stop them. I just needed to let fate take its course.
"Me too Kate. Oh, and you look beautiful." He said. I felt my cheeks blush. I was still not used to his compliments. I felt his hand squeeze mine making me relax. I turned to look out the window, enjoying the peace in the car as we drove to our destination.
-
I felt my excitement rise. We were finally at our date. I looked around and let myself squeal. We were at an ice cream bar. I had heard about this place yet never fully came. You may think ice cream in the middle of snow is a bad idea, but I think it's a great idea.
"Welcome to New Haven Ice cream." One of the workers said once we stepped into the warmth of the shop. Blake led me to the display, seeing a bunch of flavors and combinations.
"This looks so good." I said once we sat down with our ice cream. We were in a small booth, sitting across from each other. I took a spoonful of my ice cream and moaned in satisfaction. I got a scoop of vanilla, cookies and cream, and birthday cake with a bunch of colorful sprinkles on top. I asked the girl to give me a whole entire scoop. Blake went a different route. He got a cone with scoops of chocolate and mint chip dipped in hot fudge.
"It is." Blake said licking his cone. We quickly felt into peaceful silence. I took that as my opportunity to go over tonight. I was rather confused as to why Blake seemed to hate his mom and her family. They seemed harmless, although Adam was a little too flirty. I was used to Blake's flirting but Adam was just way too much. They seemed so similar, like two guys who would get along. I wonder why Blake never met him. I knew, well have heard people talk about him visiting his mom in California.
"Blake, what happened back there?" I asked. I usually wasn't this nosy, but I had to know. I heard Blake sigh, turning away from the window and towards me.
"So my mom is back. She left me and my dad when I was around 11 years old. She left us for Marc, who she was cheating on my dad with. After my parents got a divorce she quickly remarried. She moved to California with Sophie and made their own family with Marc and Adam. Now, she's back trying to be a mom and act like she never hurt us." He told me. Sophie never mentioned the cheating when Morgan asked her about it. I wondered if she knew.
"I'm so sorry Blake." I said. It must have been so hard for him to go through that as a young boy. His coping mechanism must have been to never trust a girl. It explains why he is like this now.
"It's okay babe. I'm used to being left out. It's in my nature now. Now, finish up so we can go to the next part of our date." He said not showing any emotion. I let the comment slide and focused on his next words.
"Let's go." I said standing up. I wondered where we were gonna go next. It better not be dinner. I was stuffed with the delicious ice cream. I dropped my empty cup in the trash and grabbed Blake's hand. I pulled us into the cold, instantly shivering. He chuckled and led me to the car. We both got in, relaxing in the warmth.
Blake started the car and pulled out of the parking lot. My excitement was building as he continued to drive. The radio was playing some song, but I was too caught up in my thoughts.
I was having so much fun with Blake, but deep down, I knew it wouldn't last. I would have to tell him the truth, even if he didn't like it. I can't keep pretending i'm someone that i'm not. Blake believes that I am being 100% truthful and based on how his relationship with his mom is, it takes a lot for him to trust someone. He would hate me for lying to him all this time, but I can't ruin what we have.
After almost four months of knowing Blake, I have got to know him. Even if I only know like 0.5% of him, I feel like i've known him forever. Definitely after tonight, it's clear as to why Blake is Blake. Losing his mother took an impact on him and caused him to lose trust in everyone. He trusted someone so close to his heart, causing it to break.
He deserves so much more. He's such an amazing guy. It pains me to see him how he was earlier. He was angry and hurt as his mom and she didn't seem to see it or care. I just wished I could do something for him. Sadly, telling him the truth about me will only make or break his heart.
Big flashing lights and a small shake on my arm was what brought me out of my thoughts. I was happy to focus on reality and not the future. I had time later to worry about my dilemma. I focused on our next destination. We pulled into a go-kart arena.
"Blake?" I asked him. He gave me a nervous smile. I internally awed at the sight. He was nervous for our date, even if we had been together for an hour now.
"I hope you like this." He said shuffling out of the car. I did the same and let him lead me inside.
"Hello, welcome to Fast Lane Karting. How may I help you?" One of the workers asked.
"Race for two please." Blake said. The guy nodded and began to insert things into the computer. I walked away, leaving them.
Everything was red and black, the theme of the place. Plaques and pictures were hung on the wall while awards line the display cases. It seemed as if there were mini races that people actually competed in. I had never been here or gone go-karting before so this was all very new to me.
"Here's your helmet babe." Blake said coming by my side. I gave him a smile and took the black piece of protective equipment from him. He then grabbed my free hand and pulled me towards the race rink.
We waited our turn until we were able to get our own kart. I got a red one while Blake got a blue. The cars then slowly moved up to the starting line were there were three other people waiting to begin.
"Hello racers. Before we begin, make sure to keep all body parts inside the vehicle. Fasten your seat belts. Do not bump into any other racers and remain in your kart until told. Please take a second to read the rest of the rules while I check everyone's seat belts." One of the workers said.
He came to mine and pulled on the belt. It instantly tighted, making me feel more secure. He then gave me a weird look. He then pointed towards my seat.
"Huh?" I asked in confusion. What is he talking, well gesturing about?
"Your helmet. Please wear it for your protection." He said. I nodded in understanding and pulled it on. He then walked back to his position and pulled a lever. The lights ahead were flashing red. They then went to yellow before turning green.
I pressed on the gas pedal and felt myself move forward. All of my other opponents did the same. I gripped the steering wheel and began to race. An unexpected turn came up causing me to pull the wheel hard. I screamed from the adrenaline.
"Don't be scared Kate." Blake shouted as he drove by. I narrowed my eyes and pressed on the gas. I was determined to beat him.
We continued to race, me slowly catching up. He smirked as he saw me come up next to me. I narrowed my eyes and focused on the finish line ahead. I pressed as hard as I could on the pedal, feeling myself gain speed.
I was a few feet away and so was Blake. Blake's knuckles were turning white as he stared at the checkered flag. One of the workers was waving it as I crossed the line. I then hit the brake, feeling my head yank forward.
"And the red car wins!" The worker shouted into his mic. The rest of the racers drove in, parking their car on the sidelines. I quickly undid my seatbelt and waited for my signal to get out. I then stood up and walked away from the course. I pulled off my helmet, fixing my hair. Blake came up beside me with a frown. I smirked. He thought he could beat me.
"I won!" I cheered with my excitement. Blake chuckled as I jumped in my spot. Tonight had been so much fun. I didn't want it to end.
"You sure did babe." He said handing my helmet off to one of the workers. I nodded and giggled.
"What's my prize?" I joked. Blake's eyes turned a darker blue, pulling me into a trance. I couldn't look away.
"This." Blake said leaning in. I felt his lips on mine, a wave of different emotions coursing through me, one especially. I just hoped I didn't end up with a broken heart.
