I shift my weight onto my left leg, my hands sturdy on my hips.
I was finally done washing the windows of the diner, which means my shift was over.
Thank the lord himself.
I throw the dirty, orange rag into the bucket of water as I carried it off back to the janitors closet.
The clock just about read 10:30 pm, the latest I've been working in a long while.
Overall, today the diner was very uneventful. People hardly showed up from the weather being so mucky, and if they did, sour expressions were all you could see.
From there being less people, my boss decided to put me on cleaning duty rather than my usual job as a waitress for today.
Though I couldn't argue, the job was a lot less nerve wracking than waitressing.
As I head out the front doors, I start walking down the side walk.
Street lamps and car lights lite up some dark patches near the alley ways, but pretty much the streets were dark.
Luckily the rain stopped, though the air and environment around was left moist and muggy.
Again, I didn't mind a little rain here and there.
Suddenly, my phone started buzzing in my back pocket. Considering the ring tone was an loud alarm, it must be April O'Neil herself.
I pick up my phone from my pocket, sliding open the call to place it up to my ear.
"Andie speaking." I say, rushing down the sidewalk before it started raining again.
"Andie!"
I gasp, pulling the phone away from my ear as April kept yelling into it.
"April my hearing- my ears are ringing, would you please not yell so loud?"
"Right, sorry. When will you be home?" She asks then quickly talks to someone in the background.
I furrow my brows, but sigh when a few rain droplets land on my forehead.
"Umm- maybe in the next ten minutes. Why?"
She groaned, "I have someone over. Do you think you could... I don't know... come back around twelve?"
I pull my phone down from my ear to check the time. 10:56 pm. Perfect.
"Twelve?! What exactly do you expect me to do in the mean time? April, it's my apartment too."
She sighed loudly, more voices- the same voice- groaned annoyed in the background.
It sounded a lot like Casey...
"Is that Casey?" I ask, running across the street onto the next side walk.
"What? Who? No. I-I have to go! Don't come home." And with that, she hung up.
I sigh to myself as I mentally scream, shoving my phone back in my pocket.
It couldn't get any worse than this...
Of course, right as expected, it started to rain.
"Are you kidding me?!" I growl, running to the nearest alley way.
Now I was soaked.
Perfect.
People rushed past me, some holding their brief cases over top of their heads. Though, for it being so late, I didn't expect it to be so crowded.
"Move it, lady!"
I gasp loudly as I fall face first onto running traffic. My eyes widen as a huge tractor trailer truck raises towards me, the lights blinding my eyes rather unpleasantly.
"Oh my sweet candy apples-" Before I could finish my- what would seem- my last sentence, someone or something lifted me up out of the way.
A strong breeze flew past me as I slowly open my eyes.
"Woah- ahh!" I yell, holding a tight grip onto whoever was holding me.
We were so high up in the air. My stomach was doing back flips, repeatedly.
"Easy there, Andie. It's just me." Chuckled an oddly familiar voice.
"Raphael?!" I ask, looking for the face of my rescuer...
He nods, "miss me?"
I roll my eyes, punching his shoulder as he stops leaping through the air and lands onto a rooftop.
"What was that for?" He asks, placing me down on my feet.
"You scared me! And how did you know where I was?"
He was about to respond, but he quickly stopped himself, rubbing the back of his neck nervously.
"I-I well... I was on patrol and saw you so I followed you." He said, he crossing his arms.
"You followed me?" I ask, my hands on my hips as I smirk at him.
He slowly nods his head, looking surprisingly nervous.
"Good thing I did too. Or you would have been road kill. Wait, what are you doing out here so late anyway? Didn't Leo tell you to always have one of us to escort you out of your apartment and work? Why didn't you call? And why are you soaked? Why-"
"Ok, ok, dad, calm down!" I cut him off, rubbing my temples with my fingers, clearly irritated with everything.
He looked at me and rolled his eyes as he popped a toothpick in his mouth.
I ignore his stare and pull a hair tie off my wrist, pulling up my hair into a pony tail as I talked. "I was working late today, and like I said before, I do not need an escort. Oh, and my apartment is being occupied by April and Casey."
His eyes widen once I mention April and Casey. "What exactly are they doing?"
I sighed, "Raph, honestly... I have no clue. But all I know right now is that I'm cold and I really want to go home."
I turned away from Raph and started walking towards a latter that lead down into an alley. My shoes squeaked as I walked with my hands crossed over, attempting to stay warm.
"Don't just walk away!" Raph called out, most likely chasing after me at this point.
"And why not? I'm grumpy Raph, not in the mood. I appreciate you saving me back there, but I honestly just want to go home."
He and I myself, were surprised at my tone, but hey. Who would be grumpy at a time like this?
I heard him mumble, "someone's hormonal..."
I shot him a glare as I step over the edge of the roof. His expression changed once he saw the look on my face.
"Why don't I just take you home?" He asked changing his tone, jumping down off the rooftops as I slowly walk down the latter.
"No, I'm pretty capable." I say, but then my foot slips. Before I knew it, I was falling, down and down. Of course, Raphael had to be right, again.
Damn rain.
"Caught you, again. Princess." He smirked as I leaped out of his arms.
"For one, Raphael, I told you to never call me that. And my foot slipped!" I tell defensively, walking out of the alley way.
"You're vindicating your foot. Ya aren't capable!" He called out as I groan loudly.
I quickly jog down the side walk, glancing at the rooftops to see Raph following me from above. I roll my eyes as I race towards my apartment, into the elevator doors.
I push the button, but the janitor rolled by, saying it was out of order.
Just my luck, eh?
I sighed loudly as I race towards the stairs, running up.
This was like a full blown workout.
Finally, after several flights of stairs and heavy breathing, I made it to my room.
As I was grabbing my keys from the back pocket, I heard April gasping, calling out, for a fire extinguisher.
"April O'Neil you better not burn down my kitchen!" I yell, quickly unlocking the door. Fellow apartment users were staring at me oddly as I race into the room.
"I was just trying to cook dinner for April!" Casey yelled as I dropped my keys, grabbing the fire extinguisher.
The oven was on fire, or whatever was in the oven was on fire.
Smoke filled the room as I made Casey back up as I spayed the extinguisher liquid onto the fire.
"Andie, I'm sorry." Casey make amends, trying to clear the smoke out of the room by opening the windows.
I chuckled to myself, turning towards him. "Casey, you're honestly the worst romantic I've ever seen."
His face goes beat red as April giggles to herself, pulling whatever was on fire out of the oven.
"At least he tried." April commented, crossing her arms with a smirk on her face.
I took a look to what would be a burnt chicken roast, and by mean burnt, I mean completely black.
I place down the extinguisher, then walked past them both, heading towards my bedroom door. "Guess so. But I don't think that chicken does."
With that, I went into my bedroom, closing my doors. I sigh to myself as I took off my shoes and jacket, then flopping face first on to my bed.
"Now that, back in the kitchen, that was truly the best first date disaster I've ever seen. I gotta have Casey teach me how it's done."
I groan loudly hearing Raphael say, and close my window from the inside.
He just comes and goes when he pleases now doesn't he?
"Raph, what in Gods name are you doing here? And your sarcasm is being overly dramatic." I ask, sitting up to face a smirk.
"I wasn't done talking to ya, so I followed you. And my sarcasm just likes to be noticed."
I rolled my eyes, most likely for the hundredth time today.
"Of course..."
"So, what exactly is on your mind?" I ask, sitting cross- legged now.
He walked closer, shaking his head as he softly chuckles. "For one, that hilarious insistent in the kitchen. And who would have their first date in an apartment?"
A smirk rose to my lips, "you think you could do better?"
His face lightened, eyes winding as he looked at me with such emotion in his eyes. To what reason they showed, I had no clue.
"I-I do."
"And who would you take then? The only two humans you and your brothers know are only April and I... right?"
For some reason, I was hoping he would say yes. Regardless of my actions I portrayed every time he showed, I still have to admit I feel something for this turtle.
Though, I didn't quite know what those feelings were just yet.
"Well... yeah. But who could resist the one and only Raphael?"
He filled his recent emotions with a sly smirk, flexing his abnormally large muscles.
"Someone's cocky." I chuckle, crossing my arms.
He winks at me as I roll my eyes, once again, then stand up heading towards the window.
"You kicking me out?" He asks, already knowing the answer.
I nod as I unlatch the hook, opening it fully for him to be able to get out.
"April and I are stopping over tomorrow. Apparently, Donnie needs to tell us all something." I add as he nods.
"See you tomorrow then, princess."
I playfully punch his shoulder as he chuckles, jumping out the window into the night.
Once he left, I changed into a tank top and black pajama shorts, then climbing into bed.
While I was laying there, I couldn't help but go back to what he said.
A smirk rose to my lips, "you think you could do better?"
"I-I do."
"And who would you take then? The only two humans you guys know are only April and I... right?"
"Well, who could resist the one and only Raphael?"
Maybe there was someone else, some other girl he knew other than April and I.
But I shouldn't care, he's a mutant, and I'm a human, opposites don't attract, right?
After a few long minutes of thinking, I decided to turn out the light, rolling to my side.
A loud, annoyed sigh escapes my lips as my eyes slowly close.
Sleep was all I needed right now. Thinking can be done tomorrow...
