Garroth's POV
I woke up this morning to Vlyad shaking me.
"What? What? What? Is there something wrong?" I asked groggily.
"You HAVE to see this!" Vlyad said urgently.
Vlyad then pulled me out of bed and I lazily walked forward. We walked into Y/n's room and saw her and Laurence sleeping together.
"LAURENCE! YOU'RE-"
Vlyad slapped a hand over my mouth. Laurence and Y/n started to stir in their sleep.
"Look how peaceful they are." Vlyad said calmly.
Vlyad took his hand off my mouth so I could respond.
"It'll be more peaceful when I shove my fist in Laurence's face-"
"This is what Y/n wants. She wants... him." Vlyad explained.
"I know but-"
"But nothing. Look at her, she looks.. peaceful." Vlyad smiled. "Neither of them have ever looked so at ease. So calm. So content."
I looked at them. Both of them truly did look peaceful.
"He hasn't been so peaceful since before Zane attacked Phoenix Drop sixteen years ago. And even then, he just..." I commented quietly.
"And I'm sure same goes for Y/n." Vlyad added.
I started to leave the room.
"We should let them wake up on their own." I stated.
Your POV
I woke up with a jolt, this caused Laurence to wake up.
"I have to watch Lilith!" I exclaimed.
"I'll help you." Laurence yawned.
"It's okay, I got it." I assured him.
"You sure?" Laurence asked.
"Yup." I said quickly.
I quickly got ready for the day. I put on a pair of weaker shoes (there's no reason for me to wear heavy shoes if I'm just going to watch Lilith). I then took a pair of leather gloves with me because after babysitting, I'm going to the ruins.
I also left my sword here since I was just watching Lilith.
I gave Laurence a kiss on the cheek and ran out of the room.
"Y/n! There's an emergency in Phoenix Drop!" Dante ran up to me.
My eyes widened.
I took one of Dante's swords, and we ran to Phoenix Drop.
The one day I'm unarmed!
Leona was walking by conveniently.
"Good morning, Y/-"
"Leona! Go to Aphmau and watch Lilith! If Aphmau asks where I am, just tell her I had to help Dante with something!" I cut her off.
She understood and we ran to the portal.
"It's Emmalyn! Shes freaking out and won't calm down! She won't explain anything!" Dante explained once we were through the portal.
I sprinted past Dante and to Emmalyn's home. Kenmur and Donna were outside of the home. I pushed past the two of them and started banging on the door furiously.
"Emmalyn!" I shouted. "Open up! It's me!
Y/n!" I shouted.
She didn't budge.
I pounded on the door two more times.
I growled, dropped the sword, and put the leather gloves on.
I'm gonna need my feet for walking after this.
"I'll get you a new door Kenmur."
I punched the door. And again. And again. And again. And again. I stopped when a hole was made.
I walked back a little bit and I threw myself at the door. I tumbled into the house and started searching for her.
I searched her room, the kitchen, the living room, and the bathroom.
"She's not here." I whispered to myself.
Kenmur, Donna, and Dante walked inside.
"What do you mean she's not here?" Kenmur asked. "Don't you have powers that track people?"
"I do. And my powers feel her presence right here. But she's not here! She isn't here!" I started hyperventilating. "What is wrong with me?"
The world started to go fuzzy.
"Dante?" I questioned.
He looked at me with a concerned look.
"Get. Katelyn." I breathed out.
~•Dream•~
What the? Why am I in a burning village?
I turned to my left and saw Zane and Emmalyn. What?
Dante and Kenmur just showed up. What is happening?
All of a sudden, Dante was knocked down and Kenmur was killed.
My eyes widened and I screamed. After that, a bright light appeared over Zane.
~•Reality•~
I sat up in a cold sweat.
"Y/n! Are you okay? You've been out for five minutes!" Katelyn asked frantically.
"I'm fine. Just stay here." I stood up and walked to the broken door.
"I'm coming with you!" Kenmur announced.
"No! Stay away!" I shouted.
He looked scared.
I took a deep breath and walked towards Kenmur. I put my hands on his shoulders.
"If you love Emmalyn, if you care about her, you'll stay here and let me do my job."
He reluctantly nodded and I ran out the door. I picked up the sword and I ran to the Irene shrine. There she was.
"I saw him. I saw Zane." Emmalyn said shakily. "He was in a Shadow Knight uniform. Is he-"
"Emmalyn, you trust me, right?" I asked.
"Of course, Y/n. You've never given me a reason not to." She answered, still facing the statue.
"Good."
I knocked her out with the back of my sword. She fell but I caught her.
"There's one thing I never told anyone about my Sensory Magicks." I started. "I taught myself take away memories. I never told you guys because I knew, one day it would come in handy. And that day is today."
I started to concentrate.
"Only problem is, that this spell is draining and I haven't done it on a while." I continued. "Irene, please let this work."
I then started the spell.
I read her mind and found the memory of her seeing Shadow Knight Zane. I removed it from her memory and replaced it with a fake one.
I quickly brought her to the treehouse and walked down the latter. Everyone ran up to me asking if she was okay.
"Yeah. She just thought she found some new knowledge on Lady Irene, but it turned out to be fake." I lied.
They bought it and I ran back to the portal after giving Dante his sword back.
Laurence, Vlyad, and Garroth saw me and they ran to me.
"Y/n, you're a mess." Garroth stated. "What the hell happened?"
"What's going on?" Vlyad asked.
"Your fists are bloody. Not to mention you're bruised up." Laurence pointed out. "Who did this?"
"I was chopping wood?" I tried to lie.
Lying twice in a row is difficult.
They didn't buy it. I came clean and told them that Emmalyn was panicking about 'fake Irene knowledge' and I knocked into a tree when I found her.
They didn't believe me. Still. But they took the lie.
"Y/n, Aphmau and I found Esmund's Shrine." Garroth changed the subject.
He started to explain how it felt familiar.
"It sounds familiar." I commented.
"Yeah, I-"
"Wait!"
I heard people calling my name. It was Cadenza.
"When did you-"
"No time! It's Aphmau!" Cadenza cut me off.
"What's wrong with Aphmau?" Garroth asked worriedly.
As if he couldn't be more blunt about he's feeling on accident.
"Nothing for boys to know! Girl time only!"
Cadenza grabbed my wrist and pulled me towards Aphmau's home.
"Ow! Cadenza!"
"What happened to you?" Cadenza asked as we continued to run to Aphmau's home.
"No time for that!"
We bursted through the doors.
"What happened?" I asked, when I saw both Zoey and Katelyn here.
"Aphmau fainted while we were talking." Cadenza explained calmly.
"What?!" I exclaimed.
"It's also-"
Aphmau woke up.
Everyone started to bombard her with questions.
"How long have you been-"
"Hungry?" Aphmau cut Zoey off. "I get hungry when I get hungry."
"No. You've been really strange these past few weeks. What is wrong?" Katelyn butted in.
"Katelyn, I think you're missing the point as well." Zoey said sweetly. "How long have you known?"
"Is she-" Cadenza started.
"I'm-" Aphmau cut Cadenza off.
"Aphmau, you don't have to do this right now." I assured her.
"You know?" Katelyn asked.
"Y/n. I have to." Aphmau stated. "Guys, I'm pregnant."
"WHAT?!" Katelyn exclaimed.
"I KNEW IT!" Cadenza squeaked.
"WHO'S THE FATHER?" Cadenza asked eagerly.
Aphmau and I's expressions dropped.
"...Aaron.." Aphmau answered.
"Someone's here." I whispered.
I walked out of the house and saw Laurence.
"You couldn't help yourself, could you?" I smirked.
"Oops?" Laurence said.
"If the bastard weren't dead, I'd kill him for leaving." I said bitterly.
"You can't think like that." Laurence stated.
"Well, I do. All I would ever talk about is how I'd help you get them out. Then the son of a bitch beats me to what I was gonna do-"
"I wouldn't have been able to live with myself if you died." Laurence muttered.
"Well Aaron would be here. With Aphmau. With his children." I shot back. "Why does everything have to be so difficult? Wh-Why can't one thing go as planned?"
"Because that'd be too easy." Laurence answered. "You wouldn't be as strong as you are now without the pain you've felt. Just remember that though. You are strong, both physically and mentally."
"Thank you, Laurence. Even when the world kicks my ass, I've still got you. I'm still winning."
"That was cheesy." Laurence said cheekily.
"Sometimes cheesy things are the best." I replied.
"Yeah, but that was too cheesy for Y/n. Like, why did that sentence come out of your mouth?" He teased.
"Whatever." I smirked. "I'm gonna get back to Aphmau. You get back to whatever you were doing."
"I will. But don't lie to me again." Laurence stated. "You're gonna tell me eventually why you cam back with bruises and bloody hands."
"Okay." I replied.
"I don't want bad things to happen to you when I'm not there. How am I supposed to have your back if I can't come running for you?" Laurence explained. "I love you too much to loose you."
Not only did my heart skip a beat, but I skipped a breath. I didn't even know that was possible.
He said the thing I wanted to say last night. That one statement. Those special words.
"I-I love you too." I stuttered.
He gave me a kiss in the cheek and walked off. I know him so well, I can just tell he's smirking happily.
