Peyton
----------
I walked down the hallway to my class when I saw a guy with blonde hair, standing outside the door. "Hey Peyton." He said once he saw me.
"Hi. Do I know you?" I asked, genuinely unaware of what was going on.
"Not really. I'm Ryan, we have this class together, but I wanted to know if you'd come to a party with me tonight?" I held onto the straps of my bag nervously, not sure what to say.
"Uhm, that's not really stuff I'm into anymore. I'm sorry." I tried opening the door but he stopped me by gently grabbing my arm.
"Don't worry, I don't drink either. But it's Halloween themed, cool people, and I never see you talking to people. I thought you could have a night to just have some fun." He was clearly nervous as I saw him scratch the back of his head.
"Halloween isn't for a week."
"It's like an early Halloween party. I promise, it'll be fun."
"I-I I'm sorry, I have a boyfriend." I said and fixed my hair by running my fingers through the roots and flipping it onto one side.
"Bring him with." He shrugged and I sighed.
"Can't. He's in LA right now."
"What? Is he famous or something?" He chuckled making me slightly annoyed.
"He's a YouTuber." I pulled out my phone and showed him a picture of Grayson and Ethan. "He's the one on the left."
"Shit, sorry for bothering you." He started walking inside but I stopped him.
"I'll go. Just don't expect anything from me. We're going as friends." A smile appeared on his face and he opened the door for me to walk in.
I went to my go to seat, and he sat next to me. "Here's my number, so I can pick you up." He showed me his phone and I looked at him with a blank face.
"It's fine. I can drive. Plus I don't live in the city."
"C'mon. Just take my number, you don't even have to text me." I sighed and wrote his number down in my phone, then sent him a thumbs up to give him my number. I put my phone away and the professor walked in as if on cue.
"What are you gonna wear tonight?" He asked me, leaning towards me a little so I could hear his whisper.
"I don't know. Kind of last minute, wanna help me pick out an outfit after class?"
"Sure. If you help me pick one out too."
"Deal." I smiled and we both turned to our professor who started the lesson.
----------
"Dylan! Can you come to a party with me tonight?" I asked through FaceTime while I sat at my house after getting my superwoman costume.
"Peyton. You're not going to a party."
"I'm not gonna drink or anything. I've just realized I've gone to this school over two years now, and I don't know anybody here."
"You've said it yourself, they're all douche bags."
"Please Dyl. I haven't seen you in forever!" I whined and he rolled his eyes.
"Maybe if you weren't shoved up Grayson's ass. I have class soon, I've gotta go." He snapped.
"I'm sorry, I never get to see him, and if I get the chance I want to see him, I want to. You should be happy for me."
"I am happy for you, Babes. I just wish you'd talk to me more. Like, I miss hanging out all of the time. I didn't even find out you were in a crash until after you left the hospital. Yet Grayson knew?"
"Dylan. You know I'm not trying to be dodgy."
"I know. And I know you truly like Grayson, and that's amazing. I'm genuinely glad you found someone like him, but I'm supposed to be your best friend."
"You're right. How about tomorrow we hang out all day? I don't have class, do you?"
"In the morning, but after that I'm free."
"Perfect. I'll see you tomorrow?"
"Okay. I love you, Bye."
"I love you." I hung up the phone and sighed then walked upstairs to my room and laid on my bed.
I decided to FaceTime Grayson, him answering immediately. "Hi beautiful." He smiled through the camera, taking my mind off Dylan being upset with me.
"Hey. You look sweaty. Were you working out?" I admired the droplets falling from his forehead, and his hair slightly wet.
"Yeah, gotta stay in shape for my girlfriend." He flexed like a douche bag and I rolled my eyes.
"She must be lucky. Getting to kiss you, and touch you."
"And she's lucky to be as gorgeous and nice and as genuine as she is. She compares to no one." I smiled and blushed making him laugh over the phone. "I don't think you know how much I care about you."
"I do. I heard you and your mom talking in the kitchen last weekend. Sorry."
"Were you eavesdropping?" He smirked
"Yes. But that's only because I wanted to know what your mom thought about me." I defended and he smiled again.
"What all did you hear?"
"That you were gonna marry me one day, and that you're in love with me."
"It's true. I'm in love with you. And I shouldn't say this over the phone, almost 3,000 miles away, but you seriously make me happier than any other person on this earth. I love you, Peyton."
"Grayson. I really don't know what to say." I felt my eyes water up and my nose start to run.
"Don't cry, Baby. I'll see you on Thursday so we can eat candy all night while watching scary movies. It'll be the perfect date."
"I don't want to wait until Thursday. I just want to hug you and kiss you and not let go." I wiped away the single tear that fell down my cheek and he pouted his lip.
"I'll see you Thursday, my love."
"Alright, I've gotta go. I love you."
"I love you more." Grayson said.
I looked outside seeing that it was starting to get dark out, so I put on my makeup, then I curled my hair, and got changed into my costume.
'I'll be there in 5 mins, you almost ready?' Ryan texted me.
'Yeah, just text me when you're here.'
'Okay.'
I put on the boots that came with the outfit and walked to my bathroom to put on deodorant and spray perfume.
I went downstairs and grabbed my keys so that I could get back inside when I get home. "Hey, I'm leaving for a party. Don't worry though, I'm not drinking." I said to my mom who was on the couch reading.
"Please be safe, have fun. I love you."
"I love you too Mama."
I felt my phone vibrate and Ryan's name popped up, signaling he was here, so I went outside and walked to his car. "Hey." I smiled at him.
"Your costume looks amazing." He chuckled lightly, making me a little uncomfortable.
"Well you did pick it out." I teased and he started driving away from my house.
He soon pulled up to the party after making small talk and we both got out, unable to make the faces of people in the yard from how quickly it got dark.
We walked inside together and he pulled me to the kitchen. "Do you want a soda or water or something?" He asked as he pulled out a bottle of beer from a cooler and popped the tab off. 'Don't worry I don't drink either.'
"Water's fine." I said and he grabbed a bottle of water out of a different cooler. "Who's party is this?" I asked when I opened up the water and took a drink of it.
"My buddy Ashton. He's a senior, probably around here somewhere." He said and looked around the room for a guy I didn't know.
I saw a walk up to Ryan and did their bro shake, then they both looked at me. "Who's this?" The guy asked and looked me up and down, making me uncomfortable.
"My friend Peyton. She's a junior."
"And you're not drinking? A fine ass like that should have a little fun." He smirked and I finally caught on to why he's acting like a douche. He's drunk.
"I'm gonna go to the bathroom real quick." I walked away from the two and the guy whistled when I walked away.
I found a set of steps that led upstairs, so I followed them to the top and walked to a bedroom that was empty. I'm surprised people aren't hooking up or doing drugs in here.
I sat down on the bed and pulled out my phone and decided to FaceTime Grayson. He always knows how to make me feel comfortable around people.
"Hey, Babe. Where are you?" He asked looking at the background. "And is that a superwoman costume I see? You're gonna have to wear that Thursday night. I can be Superman." He chuckled a little, making me smile.
"I'm at this lame party, I thought it'd be fun to go, but parties are usually only fun when you're drunk like everyone else."
"Go dance your cute butt off then. You deserve a break from school." He said, making me feel instantly better.
"I don't even know why I'm here to be honest. I don't know anybody except one person." I said and ran my fingers through my hair.
"Babe. If you don't want to be there, why'd you go?"
"I really don't know. It's just not my thing anymore. Like, I'm literally upstairs away from everyone else talking to my boyfriend on the phone."
"Oh gee, thanks." He said dramatically.
"You know what I mean. I used to be the girl who would get shit faced and dance on the tables. Always the loudest in the room, center of attention. But I don't want that anymore."
"I'm telling you, Babe. If you want to leave, then leave. But if even a small part of you wants to stay and try to have fun, I think you should."
"Alright, I'll leave you alone." I sighed dramatically and he giggled.
"Shut up, I would literally stay up all night just to talk to you."
"I know you would, because you're an amazing boyfriend." I said and laid my back down on the bed.
"Yeah, and don't ever forget it."
"Okay, I'm gonna go now." I said, admiring Grayson's shirtless body. I swear he never wears shirts.
"I love you so much. And you look hot as hell in that costume."
"I love you too Grayson Bailey. You deserve the world."
"You're my world."
"So cheesy." I giggled which made him smile.
"Go have fun. Text me goodnight when you get home so I know you're safe."
"I will, Bye."
"Bye." We hung up and I inhaled and exhaled sharply, building up the courage to leave this room.
"Hey, you really shouldn't wear slutty clothes like that. It's giving me such a boner." I saw the drunk guy from a minute ago standing in the doorway palming himself through his costume. His dick clearly erect.
"What are you doing?" I asked and sat up as he walked up to me a smirk on his face.
"Giving you something every girl wants from me." He leaned over and tried to kiss me but I quickly stood up.
"No, you aren't. Get away from me." I tried walking out of the room but he grabbed my arm and pushed me on the bed. My heart beating out of my chest and nervous sweats starting to form.
"Baby. This is my party. And at my parties, I get what I want." He leaned over and whispered in my ear, a single tear falling down my cheek.
"Get away from her, Ashton." I looked up and saw Ryan standing in the doorway with his arms crossed. His blonde hair fell over his forehead and his mask off, unlike before.
"Chill dude, I was just having some fun." He got away from me and held his hands up in surrender.
"Okay, but that fun could get your ass kicked. Leave her alone." I sat up and watched how calm Ryan acted.
"By who? She clearly doesn't have a boyfriend if she came here with you." He chuckled and looked over at me then winked, making me feel even more uncomfortable.
"Trust me, her boyfriend could easily beat the shit out of you if he wanted, but he'd never stoop to your level." He said and got in his face, trying to stay cool, through his anger.
"Yeah? Well I don't see him. And a little bitch like you isn't gonna stop me. Never has before."
"C'mon, Peyton. I'll take you home." Ryan grabbed my hand and pulled me out of the room and to his car. "I'm sorry for bringing you here. I didn't think that'd happen. Grayson is definitely gonna kick my ass." Ryan chuckled and I looked at him confused.
"Wait, do you know Grayson?" I asked once we got in his car and buckled up.
"Yeah. Him and Ethan used to be my best friends in middle school. We still hang out. I just saw Ethan last weekend."
"Wait, you're Ryan? How did I not put two and two together?" I chuckled making Ryan smile.
"Hey, I didn't even know you were Peyton until you said Grayson was your boyfriend. I was gonna try to hit on you."
I smiled out of respect, although it made me feel awkward. Guys just aren't attractive to me anymore, except for Grayson.
He's the only guy I look at anymore.
