OMG I FOUND A PERF PIC OF HUNTER. My bae<3

Except I googled him, but I couldn't find his actually name...sigh the struggle.

Anyways, enjoy!

~

"You're telling me that on your first day of school, you've managed to make an enemy? Damn Joy, what am I supposed to do with you?" Jessica cried in disbelief and delightfulness.

Why she was delighted? The world may never know.

"And you made enemies with Kate? She's your typical popular mean girl." Jessica blabbed on and on about Kate this and Kate that, but I wasn't listening.

I was thinking, more like worrying, about Hunter. I haven't seen him in a whole week. I didn't mean to hurt his feelings in any way when I told him not to touch me, it was just that his hands were covered and blood and I thought I might have puked if someone else's blood got anywhere near me. Oh who am I kidding, Hunter probably didn't even care what I said. Most likely, he's just cutting classes again.

The dreadful thought that Hunter's absence was all my fault, was eating me up. So during lunch I went to find Nate. Nate was obviously the only person Hunter talks to, so Nate might know Hunter's whereabouts.

"Um hi Nate?" I greeted in more of a question form.

Nate's arm was wrapped around a girl's shoulder, and they seemed like they were having a very intimate conversation.

"Oh what's up Joy?" Nate gave me a small smile.

I ignored the girl glaring daggers at me. I just wanted to know where Hunter was.

"Do you know where Hu-Hunter is?" I quickly stammered, trying to play it off cool.

Nate's smile widened and I could see his pearly white teeth.

"Of course I do. What kind of best friend would I be? Haha, "

I gave a weak smile in return.

"I'll take you to see Hunter after school, alright?"

I hastily nodded and scurried off, barely saying a thanks.

~

The whole day I couldn't concentrate on anything, except where Nate was taking me.

Where could Hunter be? Oh gosh, I hope it's a place with no blood.

Finally, the last bell rang signaling the end of school. I bolted out of my chair and out of the classroom. To be honest, I don't know why I was in such a rush to see Hunter. I've known him for maybe two weeks now, and we've never had a real conversation before. I guess I just needed to know if he was safe.

"JOY!" Nate's loud voice boomed across the parking lot.

My lips curved up, just the person I was looking for.

"Hop in, " Nate said as he started the engine to his car.

Before I could buckle my seat belt, we were off to find Hunter.

~

The first stop was a rundown gym. I nervously stepped out of Nate's car and wringed my hands.

"Are we in the right place?" I asked.

Nate nodded and ushered me through the door.

The gym, or should I call it a garage, was dark with only one light bulb hanging in the middle of the room. It cast off an eerie glow. The only other things in the gym were a bench and a punching bag.

"What is this place?" I asked quietly.

"Hunter's training room..." Nate trailed off. He looked like he wanted to say more but he cleared his throat and resumed his happy go lucky personality.

"Anyways! Looks like Hunter isn't here. My bad!" Nate chuckled and forced a smile.

"Come on, let's go to his next most visited place."

While we were in the car, I was thinking.

Why would Hunter have a training room? And why was it so spooky?

I imagined a shirtless Hunter, in all of his glory, punching the living daylights out of the bag. Sweat would be dripping down his face, his chest, his wonderful abs-

I slapped myself. Just because Hunter was attractive didn't mean I had to have a porn video of him playing in my head.

Hearing the sound of my slap, Nate just turned to look at me with a bewildered expression.

"Uh... Are you okay?"

I sheepishly nodded and resumed staring out the window of his car.

The next stop was something I would never have imagined. I was thinking maybe a sketchy ally, or a drug store, maybe an abandoned house. But no, it was a park. A public park.

I furrowed my brows in confusion and asked,

"Are you sure we're in the right place?"

Nate just smirked and dragged me along. He led me out of the public's eye and into a patch of trees.

On a wooden bench in the middle of the ring of trees, was Hunter. The sunlight was peeking through the lush green trees, shining beams on Hunter's face. He looked so peaceful and content. With the light beaming on his chiseled face, Hunter looked like a Greek god. I kid you not.

I in took a sharp breath at his beauty.

God, he was beautiful.

As if he knew I was staring, Hunter slowly opened his eyes and acknowledged me with a cold stare.

"What is she doing here?" he spat, saying the word 'she' as if it was poisonous.

I flinched at his harsh words. He must hate me, otherwise he would never be this mean.

Nate glared at Hunter and retorted, " She's here, because she wanted to see you. So why don't you stop acting like an ass and actually try to be kind to her?"

Hunter's eyebrows furrowed and his fists clenched by his side. He stood up, his 6 foot shadow towering over us. Slowly, like a predator stalking his prey, Hunter walked over to us.

"You stay out this."

"Or what?" Nate taunted, "You're going to hit me?"

In a flash, Hunter's fist connected with Nate's face.

I gasped and covered my eyes. I heard Nate groan and fall to the ground, the leaves crunching under him.

Peeking through the gaps of my finger, I saw Hunter get on top of him and continuously smash Nate's face.

I couldn't take it anymore.

"STOP! He's your friend! It's Nate! Please!" I screamed, desperate for Hunter to hear.

But Hunter didn't listen. His eyes were ablaze with fury as he kept hitting his friend.

This was not the Hunter I knew. This was not the Hunter I liked.

I grabbed onto Hunter's arm and shook it.

"Hunter, please! Stop hitting him." I cried in worry.

Hunter tried shaking me off but I clung on for dear life.

"Let go of me!" He bellowed.

I shook my head. Suddenly, I was flung off of him, and I went sprawling into the ground.

Ouch, my back. I cried out in pain.

"Look what you did, you bastard," Nate spat at Hunter, "I can't believe you would hurt her like that. I'm leaving now to get cleaned up. Don't you ever harm her again, you hear me?"

Hunter's eyes flashed an unknown emotion and he nodded.

Making his way over to me, I heard Hunter take a couple deep breaths.

"Why are you here?" His low husky voice made my head spin in circles.

I shrugged, picking at the grass.

"Goddammit answer me!" Hunter shouted and punched a nearby tree. The bark splintered and pieces flew everywhere.

I flinched at his sudden anger. Why was he so mad?

My anger was starting to build too, but I knew how to hold it down.

Shakily, I replied, "You haven't been at school, I was worried."

Hunter's muscles tensed at my words, and he scoffed, "You? Were worried about me? Ha. Sure you were. What do you want from me? Money? Well I'm sorry to tell you that I don't have any. Or maybe you're just looking for sex? Hm, is that what you want?"

I gasped at his bold accusations, "How dare you!"

Hunter chuckled drily. "Everybody is afraid of me, so nobody would ever talk to me just because they want to. Are you afraid of me?"

I glared at him and shook my head, "No." I boldly stated.

Hunter took a step towards me, and I crawled back until my back hit a tree. He slammed his hands next to my face and leaned in close. I could see a slight stubble on his chin, and his dark green eyes were darker than normal.

"You should be."

And with that, Hunter grabbed the wooden bench and slammed it against a tree. The bench broke in half and fell to the ground in parts and pieces.

"Now are you scared of me?"

Again, I shook my head.

Truth be told, I wasn't scared at all. I knew he wouldn't intentionally hurt me, but he would break everything in his way, just to scare me off. But I wouldn't be leaving him anytime soon. I knew he was used to people cowering in his presence, but in reality I believe he just needed a friend.

"I just want to be your friend."

Hunter growled and laid another punch on a tree. He hissed in pain as the bark cut through his skin, splattering his blood on the bark of the tree.

I gasped at the sight of blood. My stomach churned and I thought I was going to puke, but Hunter needed a friend, and I was going to be his friend.

Gently, I took his bloodied hand in my hands.

I thought Hunter would glare at me and pull away, but he was frozen, just staring at me.

I smiled nervously and got a tissue from my backpack. I lightly tapped it until it soaked up all his blood.

All that blood...

Okay Joy, right now is not the time for your wimpy fear of blood. Suck it up.

I took a quick glance at Hunter, and our eyes locked. His sea green eyes pierced my blue eyes. I could literally feel the tension between us get thicker, but nobody wanted to be the first to break the eye contact.

His cologne was intoxicating, I couldn't get enough of it. Why does he have to smell so good?

I inhaled and exhaled slowly, trying to get my heart rate to slow down.

Hunter cleared his throat and looked away, finally breaking our eye contact.

"My hand?" He asked, a bit nervously.

I smiled a little at the thought that Hunter was as nervous as I was.

I got a band aid from my backpack and put it on the deepest cut.

"I hope it doesn't scar..." I whispered and looked away, a blush creeping up my face.

I abruptly dropped his hand and moved a little bit away from him.

Almost automatically, Hunter scowled and snapped,

"Oh I forgot the whole, 'don't touch me'."

He glared the meanest glare I have ever seen in my life.

I wrapped my arms around myself and rocked back on forth.

"I don't like blood." I quietly said as I picked some bark off the tree.

Hunter didn't say anything.

He probably thinks I'm a freak now. He's probably going to wipe his bloody hands all over me just to freak me out.

"I'm... sorry."

My head snapped up in an instant. Did the notorious bad boy say he was sorry? To me?

Bewildered, I looked around to see if he was talking to someone else.

Hunter chuckled, "I'm talking to you." Almost as if he knew what I was thinking!

My face flushed red and I quickly asked, "Why are you sorry?"

He just shrugged and murmured, "I'm always covered in blood."

I chuckled nervously and stammered, "That's o-okay."

Hunter sighed, with a faraway look on his face.

I know that look. Many times when I looked in the mirror, I also saw that faraway look on a short brown haired, blue eyed girl, who was staring right back.

Suddenly, Hunter's eyes returned to normal, a mask of no emotions and he got up, dusted his jeans and left without another word.

I sat there for a couple more hours, just enjoying the bird's singing and the leaves fluttering.

I just want to be your friend...
