  Chapter 2

Taemin and Jonghyun had been in the sound room for ages. Partially because they had gotten carried away with Taemin's ipod tunes. Who could go wrong with a Michael Jackson song? The pair had even cracked themselves up by doing a mini Michael Jackson karaoke. But they soon got down to business.

Jonghyun clapped when Taemin sang the last verse of his solo song. "You were great, but try tweaking your tempo on the fifth line. Make it a bit slower."

Taemin nodded and sang a little slower. His voice filled the room and it sounded much better than his earlier try. Jonghyun grinned.

"That's great. Now you need to help me."

He frowned at his hyung. "Why?"

"I want to try practicing in a different way. How about we both sing my song, its boring with only my voice to listen to."

"Arasso, arasso." Taemin took Jonghyun's lyrics and suddenly remembered. "Jonghyun how do you expect me to sing this? I can't"."

"Why?" Jonghyun said in a pathetic imitation of Taemin's voice.

"Its too high. I'll end up losing my voice."

Jonghyun rolled his eyes. "Fine, fine. At least sing the chorus. Look it's nearly -"

Taemin glanced at the clock and saw that it was already time for lunch break. He grinned and jumped off his stool. "Lunch time." He sang.

"Alright but after lunch we're back in here." He pointed two fingers at his eyes then at Taemin's. "Come on, we're having lunch with the SNSD girls." Jonghyun wagged his eyebrows and strolled out the sound room.

Lunch was a merry occasion - but not for Taemin. Key and Minho were happy with their practice and Onew seemed in his own bubbly world. The girls of SNSD looked tired from their practice but were soon laughing at silly jokes. The sound of laughter and voices made Taemin feel like he was sea sick, even his favourite plate of food looked unapetizing.

"Taemin are you ok?" Yuri asked, concerned.

He nodded but didn't say anything. The head ache that was starting to brew was getting more painful by the second. His skin felt prickly with heat and his palms clammy with sweat. It wasn't long before the others noticed.

Key put down his chopstick and peered at Taemin's ashen face. "Taemin ah, you look sick. Shall I get you some water?"

Taemin shook his head and got up. Quickly leaving for the bathrooms, before they could ask questions. He ran into a cubicle and locked the door behind him. He collapsed onto the seat and  held his head in hands. Hungry? Thirsty? He had no idea what he felt. His throat, however, seemed fairly insistent on telling him that it was at war.

"Taemin!" Onew knocked on the cubicle door. "Please come out. Are you ill? You could back to the dorm and rest."

Taemin's fingers curled into a ball. Yes. That's what he needed. To be alone. He needed to get his head straight. To fix up and jerk himself back to sanity. To get away from the urge to - oh lord - attack them.

He unlocked the door and said in a quiet voice. "It's just some flu, I'll ask Hiro to come pick me up." Pretending to have a runny nose, he sniffed and grabbed a handful of tisues from the dispenser.

Onew seemed to suck it up and put a hand on his shoulder. "You do that. Get some sleep."

The others were all crowded outside but Onew told them to back off. A kind gesture that added to Taemin's guilt. He hated lying but what else could he do? He called SHINee's chauffeur, Hiro, and ten minutes later he was parked up outside. Taemin delibrately sat in the back seat so he was as far as possible from him.

When they had stopped at a traffic light, Hiro looked at him through the mirror. "I find that a hot water bottle, some soup and a good nights sleep is the best remedy." He smiled kindly.

"Kamsahamnida, Hiro shi."

 "No problem, son."

The head ache seemed at its peak, when they finally pulled up at his dorm. Taemin felt at crumbling point. Mumbling a thank you to Hiro, he ran straight for the dorm and closed the door behind him. What the hell is going on with me? he thought frightenedly, to himself.

Taemin kicked off his shoes and poured himself a glass of water, but to his dismay it did nothing to quench his thirst. His throat was still as sore and as painful as ever. Maybe it was some sort of 24hour sickness or worse some kind of disease. But he had never heard of a disease that involved the dying urge to pounce on someone.

Deciding to sleep it off, he headed towards his bedroom and flicked on the light.

"Don't scream!" A girl said, putting her hands up in surrender.

Taemin did exactly what she didn't want. Before he was able to let the whole neighbourhood think there was a murder taking place, the girl yelled out a strange word. The shouting stopped immediately. Horrified, Taemin's hands rested on the place where his mouth would have been. There was nothing there. He couldn't do much but stare at the girl with wide eyes.

She laughed. "That's better. Now give me a second I just need to do the memorio incantation." She closed her eyes and Taemin suddenly felt a wierd sensation. It was like something was filling an empty hole in a part of his brain. New knowledge and information closing up the space.

Taemin blinked twice. "H-hana? W-what...?" he said, when his mouth reappeared ofcourse.

Hana grinned and did a little celebration dance. She ended the performance with a fist punching the air. "I totally rocked that spell didn't I? And here Leo was telling me I was useless." She laughed to herself.

She stopped when she saw the look on Taemin's face. It was a lovely mixture of disturbed and agonized. Biting her lip in embarassment, she took out the same vial from last night. It was filled with more delicious red blood.

"You seem more controlled than yesterday." Hana concluded, uncapping the vial for him. "You may do the honours but try not to drink it to fast, will you."

The last of his willpower ebbing away, Taemin snatched the vial out of her hands and gulped down the liquid, greedily. There was no way to describe it but to groan in relief. It was heaven on his tongue.

   "Good?" Hana smiled.

Taemin wiped his mouth with the back of his hands. "Amazing. What is this stuff?"

Hana frowned like it was a hard question to explain. "Yeah....about that. I need to show you something. Is it alright if you come with me?"

The famouse quote, "Never go off with strangers", ran through Taemin's head. In the current situation it seemed like good advice but it seemed to be playing tennis match with the opposing side. Hana didn't look evil. In fact she looked the opposite. He felt as if he knew her previously. But of course, Taemin wasn't going to bet on the crazy. Or the completely delusional for that matter.

"Don't worry, I promised yesterday I'd explain everything."

  "But what about my friends?"

Hana clicked her fingers and a clone of himself appeared out of thin air. "Meet your doppleganger!"

The clone grinned and waved at him. Taemin stared at it in absolute shock. Uptil now he had thought he was dealing with it in a good manner. But not now. Oh, no. Oh, hell no!

"Dopplegangers are my speciality." Hana ignored his reaction and gave a little bow. "Your doppleganger will make sure your friends do not grow suspicious."

Taemin tried to stomach what she had said and just nodded, wearily. He couldn't believe what he was seeing. Magic for real? The one thing his brother Taesun had been denying actually existed. He would have loved to shown his brother wrong, but something totally different knocked him out of his thoughts.

A large swirling vortex was forming in the air. Dark purples and blue's growing larger and larger. In a matter of seconds the portal was large enough for a person to jump through.

Hana grinned. "Don't be scared, I'll see you on the other side." With a military salute she catapulted  off the floor like a cat, and disappeared through the portal.

Things couldn't get any crazier right? Ah well.

Taemin stared at portal as if it was the gates of hell. "You can't be serious."

Being left behind with no information didn't seem pleasing either, so he had no choice but to launch himself in. The mass of colours swallowed him in immediately. It was cool and scary at the same time. The scary part being whether he was going to come out alive, or in more or less one piece. And the fun bit being the bit where his body was ceremoniously flipped and tossed, as if in a rollercoaster. Not long after his heroic entry, he was spat out like a dog toy on muddy ground.

"Uh, you alright?" said Hana. She sprinted over and pulled him up.

Taemin put a hand on his chest and gave her a pained look. "Just answer me one question."

"Ooh-kay."

"Is this me, hallucinating?"

Hana grinned. "Nope."

Taemin straightened up and dusted himself off. "Well I'm ready. Why did you bring me here?"

"Have you ever been hunting before, Taemin?"

"Um, no."

Hana retrieved an elastic hair band from the insides of her cloak and tied up her hair. She cocked her head to the side and sniffed as if there was something delicious waiting for her.

"Fresh game." she sighed with delight.

Taemin tried to be kind with his look but however way he put it, his face still resembled the "wtf" look.

Hana just laughed it off. "Ok, sorry. I won't deny you it any longer." Her face grew serious. "Taemin you are no longer human. Yesterday was the day of your renewal."

Taemin broke out in a cold sweat and his voice shook. "So I'm dead."

"Not necessarily." Hana tried to hold back a grin. "You're a Lunai vampire, Taemin."

The boy sure didn't know what Lunai was but vampire was fairly explanatory. "So now I'm a monster."

"Your not a monster Taemin. Your a vampire."

Taemin put his hand up to say something, but she cut him off. "No we don't burn in direct sunlight." She answered as if it was her hundredth time saying this.

"I wasn't going to ask that..."

Hana raised an eyebrow. "Ok. But save questions for later, we've got some hunting to do."

She gave him her award winning reassuring smile and eased his heart. Like always he had no choice but to trust her.

He hadn't registered the blood-lust until the animal was a few feet away. The deer was beautiful but an air of fear encased it. It's eyes seemed to know there was danger, but it stood rigid in its position. Taemin could hear its heart beating. The squelchy thud, like music to his ears. Growling quietly, in delight, he pounced on the animal. There was a hardly any struggle because the poor thing was dead and drained of any blood in seconds.

Taemin moaned and tossed the carcass to one side. He wanted more and the forest was teeming with them. Hana was by his side before he could think about locating another delicious treat.

"No. That's more than enough." she said, putting a gentle hand on his shoulder.

He wiped the blood off his mouth and looked at the animals dead body in horror. The realization hitting him like ice cold water. "I c-can't have d-done that."

Taemin shrugged her hand off his shoulder and staggered back. "N-no. I'm n-not a monster."

"Your not a monster, Taemin. Calm down. " Hana said in a soothing voice.

"Looks like things are going smoothly." a voice chuckled.

Taemin was momentarily distracted by a figure who was emerging from the shadows. A boy with the same luminous skin as Hana walked out to meet them. He too was dressed in a black cloak but unlike Hana, he had blonde hair that reached the nape of his neck in messy waves. He didn't look any older than thirteen.

"Why hello, sister." The boy said. "Having a good time?"

Hana rolled her eyes. "What do you want, Leo?"

"Ah, see that's the thing." Leo strolled over to her. "Mum and Dad asked me to come, and fetch you and your little friend. Your lack of transportational skills were simply too risky for them, noona."

Hana's eyes blazed. "Why you, little!" She stabbed a finger violently at his chest. "I'll have you know, that it was me, who transported us to the forest. I don't need your help."

It was Leo's turn to roll his eyes. "Yeah, yeah." He turned his back on them and started mumbling under his breath. Two very large doors burst out of nowhere and slid open to reveal a portal.

  "Pretty neat, huh."

Hana growled but Leo just laughed. "Aren't you going to introduce me?" He asked.

She sighed. "Leo this is Lee Taemin. Taemin this is Tempest Leonald."

"It's Leo." Leo said tightly. "Anyway, you're really Lee Taemin from SHINee?"

"Neh. It's me."

"Oh right. My girlfriend loves SHINee." Leo explained, clearing his throat awkwardly.

"You don't have a girlfriend, Leo." Hana told him.

"Yeah I do. Jan di remember?"

"Mmm right."

Hana didn't look the slightest bit bothered by Leo's irritated expression. "Let's go Taemin. My parents are expecting you." She said.

Taemin didn't know whether to be nervous or not but the day had been long and tiring. Not wanting a fuss he followed their lead. He'd just have to hope on his lucky stars that he wouldn't up as a Korean delicacy for a family of vampires.
